Ported enclosure with dual 10" CompS subwoofers
Our take on the Kicker 40DCWS102 by Crutchfield's John Pollard
A match made in heaven...or Oklahoma
Kicker's 40DCWS102 loaded enclosure puts a pair of thumping 10" CompS subs behind your music. The rugged ported box was designed specifically for the subs, so you can count on getting maximum performance, no matter what kind of tunes you enjoy.
The specially designed port gives you more bass without sounding sloppy.
Two hard-hitting CompS subs
Each 10" CompS sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, with a ribbed foam surround that promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cones on target. A heavy-duty steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.
Sturdy medium-density fiberboard ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure, and the special-design side port enhances bass production without getting sloppy. The enclosure's 2-ohm impedance draws maximum power from your mono amplifier.

This is a awesome sub it sounds great in my 2005 neon I'm running it with a Pioneer GM-A5702 amp and a Blaupunkt Madrid 120BT the only problem I have was the UPS Guy dropped it when he was bringing it to my door other than that one thing everything is great so far.

Speaker Terminals: The single pair of spring post terminals is mounted on the left side of the enclosure and will accept pin connectors, single or dual (standard 3/4" width) banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.
2Ω Load: The two subwoofers are internally wired to present a 2Ω load.
Woofers: The Kicker 40DCWS102 enclosure uses two 10" CompS subwoofers for loud, great-sounding bass.
- Ribbed Surround: The optimized ribbed polyurethane helps eliminate flex and distortion.
- Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The durable Spiralead tinsel leads are woven into the woofer's spider, for added strength and reliability.
- Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The steel basket's vented pole piece and Kicker's Quad Venting slots contribute to the woofers' efficient cooling and durability.
Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompS speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Kenny Feb 18, 2017 ] Staff
The package weight that's shipped to you is 61 lbs. (including the box it comes in). Kicker doesn't provide the weight of the 40DCWS102 by itself, but it's likely 1-2 lbs. less than the total package weight. I hope that helps. It does not appear that this box is available separately. However, you can find a dual 10" ported box here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777BB1021V/Sound-Ordnance-Bass-Bunker.html?tp=61651 [ Jeff Aug 31, 2015 ] Staff

Willie, I'm no expert but I purchased this set back in August of 2014 and I love it. It certainly gets the job done. I feel that it does have the deep rumble that you speak of but please note that this is my first sub woofer purchase. I am very pleased with it. [ Jacob D. Feb 04, 2015 ]
I don't think its that important. In my experience, it's the material the speakers are made of that effect the sound the most. The harder speaker material, gives "deeper" or a lower rumble. But that being said, the ported box does give the speakers a "boomier" sound. On really heavy bass notes a ported box will give a more loud heavy echoing hit. In my opinion, I think ported boxes make speakers sound better only if they are in SUV or hatchback. A trunk kind of mutes the tone. [ Samuel Feb 01, 2015 ]
A ported box will definitely give you a nice rumble. You can get it pretty deep but if you want to go further, try the 12 inch sub version. [ Mark David Feb 01, 2015 ]

That amp would not be a good match for this enclosure. This enclosure is wired for 2-ohm mono operation, and that amplifier is not designed to handle such a load.
