2000 GMC Sierra 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Put these in the front doors of my 2000 GMC Sierra extended cab. OEM set was popping/cracking. Woofer install was straightforward, but the tweeter and crossover I installed in the door panels under the speaker grilles. If done right you can pop off the window switch panel on the doors and reach in to operate the crossover switch. Sound is nice and full, but bass seems to be lacking. But I believe that has more to do with the woofer location in the door being at the footwells, since the deep bass is much more noticeable if you lean more towards the dash. I initially set the crossovers at +6db and the highs were super crisp and bright but at high volume blast beats on cymbals wash out everything else so I backed them down to +3. Other than that the woofers are plenty stable at high volume without distortion playing stuff like death metal, very accurate mids that don't muddy out towards the bottom end. I'm sure I'll end up getting a little powered sub to get that extra kick drum thump my truck's design seems to be robbing me of. These would probably excel in an overhead or head-level location.
Pros: Good rich mids and bass, crisp clear highs
Cons: Doesn't shine in an indirect location
