You love listening to epic, soul-shaking tunes in your ride, but your factory speakers make every song sound like a 60's garage band. Replace those worn-out speakers with some Kicker DS Series models, and get the performance and reliability you deserve.
The DS6.2 component system features heavy-duty 6-1/2" polypropylene woofers, supported by heavy-duty polyester foam surrounds, that'll bring out the power and impact of your tunes.
Titanium 3/4" dome tweeters broadcast bright, sweet vocal and instrumental details, giving your music energy and ambiance. External crossovers send the high frequencies to the tweeters and lower frequencies to the woofers, so your music's in the proper harmonic balance. Hook these components up to an amp, and you'll hear new power and impact from your favorite tunes.
Awesome sound. Easy install. Great price.

Awesome sound. Easy install. Great price.
Purchased these speakers to replace the front door mid and tweeters in a 2016 Ford Explorer. The tweeters fit directly in the factory enclosure (after removing the supplied screw on plastic housing). The mids required adapter plates supplied by Crutchfield. The sound is extremely clear but the tweeters over power the mids. These speakers can handle way more power than the factory amp provides and they are clear all the way to max volume. I wish the mids had more ouput.
Pros: Good fit, clear sound even at top volume
Cons: Tweeters over power the mids and are tinny at the top end
At the time of installation I already had subwoofers, so I wasn't buying any speakers because I wanted lows. I was shopping for speakers that would easily cover the mid to high frequencies. When I installed them I un-hooked my subs just to see what they would do by themselves, I was severely disappointed with the frequency response. The tweeters were amazing, clear and loud high frequencies, but the woofer had absolutely no bass output, which I didn't need so I didn't care about., but the mid frequencies (which I needed most) were almost non existent as well.
Pros: Clear high frequencies.
Cons: No bass or mid range frequencies.
Great speakers at an even better price.
Not very impressed with these at all. They don't offer much bass and are far from the clearest speakers I've had in ride.
Pros: -Nice tweeters
Cons: -not much better quality than stock -bass sucks
Good performance for the price. One of my tweeters showed up broken but I didn't have a place for them in the rear anyway so it worked out.
Pros: Good fitment, clear sound, significant upgrade over OEM
Cons: Must be combined with a sub for full range of sound. Seemed to struggle when pushing any more than minimal bass.
Great sounding speakers for the price
Pros: Fairly easy install
Cons: Tweeters are just a bit tinny in comparison to the high priced components with silk dome tweeters but for the price i have no complaints at all!
These components are a great value. Efficient sound, clear crisp highs and solid mid-range. Definitely worth the small price jump from co-axial speakers.
Pros: Great sound, great price.
Cons: Where to put the crossover?
magnet is not what I would expect from Kicker
Bought the Kicker speakers gto replace worn out factory units. These fit right into the existing openings and sound great. Been thinking about upgrading for some time and am now glad that I did it.
Pros: Excellent fit. Great sound.
Cons: Had go mount the crossover on the door panel to have access.
I bought these to upgrade my stock front doors speakers which were lacking everywhere. I had already upgraded the head unit to an Alpine 9887 several years ago and the stock speakers were pushed to their limits. Several reviews I've read on putting these or a similar sized component system said the tweeters wouldn't fit in the stock locations. Well they definitely do - I was able to install these in the stock locations and even retain the OEM speaker grill's for a complete from the factory look. The woofer's were able to fit in the stock location. I just had to cut some of the plastic and do some heavy modification to the crutchfield included speaker adapters (see my review for them). The tweeter's, I was able to take off the stock one, bend the bracket and then hot glue the new tweeter right in place. The mounting seems solid and where its not going to go anywhere. The crossover I was able to just hot glue to the backside of the door card. Hot glue is great to work with and easy to change and adjust, I'm just a little worried about what happens when the car gets really hot, but we'll see. As for the speakers they sound incredible over the stock speakers, have much more clairty and a fair amount of bass. You definitely need some sort of sub setup to go along with these to really get some bass. 60-70% vol and they are just as loud as stock, any more vol and they need a power amp.
Pros: -Fits in the stock speaker mounting locations for a complete OEM installed look. -Great upgrade for the price and sound amazing compared to stock. -For the price they are well worth the upgrade.
Cons: If you just have a head unit, installing these guys are going to motivate you to add at least a subwoofer setup and probably a power amplifier down the road.
Installation in 2012 Hyundai Accent was easy with the exception of finding a place to get the external crossovers installed out of site. I managed to mount them inside the door, out of the way, and set the selector switch on +3 db (the middle position). The only way to change the switch is to remove the door panel now. However, they sound really good and are far better than the cheesy paper cone speakers in my doors and the cheap, small tweets in the upper door post area. The only problem is the Kicker instructions were very hazy about polarity on their diagram, but I was able to figure out that the wire w/ the black stripe was the negative lead. Crutchfield included everything I needed for a great install, but I had to add some fasteners, and do some soldering for a great install. I like these speakers so well I just ordered a pair of two-ways to replace the rear door speakers. My next purchase is a new head unit, and I will definitely buy it from Crutchfield.
Pros: Great sound for the money Installation was fairly easy
Cons: Lack of good instructions (not Crutchfield's fault) External crossover was a pain to get out of the way
Put them in the front doors of my 2005 volvo S60 - big improvement in clarity, they handle the mid range bass much better and the tweeters are much louder and cleaner. They work well with sound ordance 8" sub in trunk. Both good upgrades for the cost.
I would do bizness wit them again!
They went in easy and they sound fantastic -- crisp and rich. I'm hearing things in my music I haven't heard in years.
Ok for entry level and the pre-wired crossover is a nice feature. Great for the h/u amp and make sure you're using a subwoofer. It compliments the Basslink pretty well. Its VERY important that you use a HPF and not push bass through these or they sound "meh." Can be a little harsh at high volumes, but that may be due to the overall door design and small amount of dynamat used. I would strongly consider wooden or thick abs brackets instead of the cheaper plastic ones (that get you by for now).
Pros: Loud and mostly distortion free. At the level where distortion happens, it hurts your ears anyway.
Cons: None, really. Not bass friendly, but thats expected with mid-range speakers.
I needed much more high end clarity for music and news, and this upgrade worked fine. The Honda Oddysee is not really quiet inside, and the low door speakers get muddied up.
I have a '02 GMC 2500HD crew cab with factory radio and all 4 door speakers were bad. I bought 2 sets of these a couple of months ago and put them in. Crutchfield did an excellent job of sending all the little extras needed to make this job go a whole lot smoother. They sent free mounting brackets (cutting install time in half) with speaker wiring adapters. I set the db switch on the crossovers to 0 for the tweeters. The rear doors on the crewcab takes a 2-way speaker, not a component set. No big deal, all I had to do was drill a hole for the tweeter next to the woofer (with hole saw). Initial sound was good, after playing with bass/tweeter adjustments on the radio. After a couple of months now, they jam. It seems that the bass has gotten a little deeper/richer over time. There are some mid bass tunes that are not clear and make a blurred sound (I blame it on the factory radio). I would recomend this for a factory replacement like mine. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Thank you Crutchfield.
Pros: Fair price, tweeter mounting options.
Cons: Mounting screws and clips were cheap. Had to find spare mounting screws/clips around the shop to work, the ones that Kicker sends kept stripping.
These speakers sound great and fit right into my 95 Chevy C1500 with the provided speaker adapters. The tweeters even fit into the factory tweeter location with only very minor work with a Dremel tool required to enlarge the factory hole. The install is very slick and subtle. The only thing negative about the speakers I can think of is the crossover modules are kind of on the large side, which might be a problem for some cars. They fit just fine inside the bottom of the door for me. Don't expect a ton of bass either, as they are only 61/2's after all. They do sound good with very nice crisp highs and good mid- bass.
These speakers are great, especially for the price! My first install ever were these DS6.2s and the DS60s about a few months ago. These went in the front doors and the DS60s went in the rear doors of my 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. Abolutely amazing sound on the stock head unit (the Outlander was the XLS edition with the Infinity system), and it just got better paired with the Pioneer AVH P3300 BT. Not only do these speakers have awesome quality on the highs and mids, but the lows make my doors shake and the rear view mirror blurs. The speakers appear to do their job and then that much more, very good buy.
Hooked these up to a low end kenwood stereo, very nice sound, only problem is half my ipod is going in the trash, I can now hear how much sound was compressed out when converted to mp3 or just cheap web rips. I set crossover to 3db, and lowered the treble on the head unit to even out the sound. So rear speakers are bass heavy now, the way i planned it. Very nice low end bass, just short of a sub woofer. Installation took a while, about 3 hours, had to go buy some bolts cause my stock ones were missing. Also had to drill a couple holes in the bracket to make it fit. long mounting nut for the tweeter was the hardest thing to put on, it was hard to screw on, and it was too long, unless the plastic on your door is about 1/2 in. thick. I mounted them at an angle, would have saved an hour if i mounted them straight with the short mounting nut. Sounds 500% better than the 200w no name brand speakers I, "got a deal on" when I bought my stereo.
I'm happy with this component set. The db level on the tweeters is adjustable to 3 levels. For those that worry about harsh titanium, I was happy with the middle db setting on the x-over. Sounded fine and not harsh. Came with all I needed in a DIY kit. That the main reason to buy DIY from crutchfield in my opinion. The install sheet was excellent info. This was a shallow depth kit that came up for Honda cars and went into my ridgeline. Take your time thinking things out and when you drill for tweeters be sure to match things up and work on left and right at the same time to achieve symmetry. Huge improvement over factory mainly due to tweeter placement.
These sound great and fit perfect.
Not bad, running these in the front doors on my 2011 fiesta as it had factory components for the front and factory 6 1/2 standard speakers in the rear doors. I am using the kicker coax 6 1/2 speakers for the rear doors. Mounting was easy and am using the factory head unit to power them. These have Titanium tweeters and the factory tweeters are silk/soft dome. I usually prefer soft dome tweeters over hard ones like titanium/aluminum as they are not quite as harsh/bright. These are a little on the harsh/bright side for some songs(though i am running them with the cross-over set on the 6db setting) but overall i am happy with them.
Great crisp sound, have them hooked up to Kicker four channel amp, they sound so good, hooked up to a kenwood Deck 895 model Have them installed professionally, i had mine done by Installations by Miles in Salisbury, Mass... The best, you can't even see the tweeters, hidden on top of the dash in my 2007 Caliber.
Had an installer put these in a 2011 Subaru Impreza Sedan with what they called premium sound. Front fit with baffles was good, tweeter went in the side mirror. Backs were mounted coaxially by cutting down the grill to two opposing supports only and using spacers to raise up the tweeter so it doesn't hit the mids. A good upgrade over stock. Tweeters are clear without harshness. Mids have good mid-bass which covers most music. I think I'm missing something between the drivers. It probably requires equalization to fix. I also suspect that the relative speed of the drivers are mismatched. The mid magnet has good heft. Overall construction quality is more than you should expect at this price point. Piano reproduction isn't perfect, but that's an acid test. The DS6.2 makes the most of stock low-wattage radios. Refinement could be better. Definition too. Unfair to ask at this price. That's why focals get the big bux. At 5+ instruments there's some loss of timbre, though you still can hear each one. Sarah Brightman, in Anytime Anywhere, distorts the mids at the intro. Double bass pizzicato just is out of range for the mids. Infair, since they make transients under 100 hz. Other than asking them to be sub-woofers, they would not distort at volume levels that should provoke ear damage out of 8W a channel. Quite an achievement. A pleasant, lively sound. Should be livable long term.
Just got done installing this Kicker DS6.2 set and they are crisp and loud. Currently I'm only powering it with the head unit, Kenwood Excelon KDC - X994, so I can only imagine how strong and loud they will be once I get an amplifier behind these. Will update once some more abuse has been given to them and will see how they hold up.
