The IX500.2 2-channel amplifier delivers 125 watts RMS per channel to a pair of full-range speakers so you can be sure to hear all your music's strengths and subtleties. Or, you can bridge this amp into single-channel mode and drive a subwoofer with 500 watts RMS. Built-in frequency filters sculpt the sound so you can get maximum performance from your system, while a variable bass boost helps you dial in just the right amount of low-frequency punch. Class D Amplifier Design: The Kicker IX500.2 is a full-range Class D amplifier, which uses digital switching to amplify audio signals. This design results in high efficiency and less heat. The Class D design also allows the IX500.2 to have a super-small footprint for increased cargo space.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The Kicker IX500.2's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.

Kicker Livin' Loud Certified Power Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that indicates the total maximum wattage of the particular amplifier, along with the model number, serial number, tested date, and whether the amplifier passed the total harmonic distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, and protection circuit tests.

Amplifier Rating: The Kicker IX500.2 two-channel amplifier is bridgeable (4-ohm), as well as 2-ohm stable in stereo:

  • Two-Channel (CEA 2006 Compliant): 125 watts x 2 channel RMS @ 4 ohms (20-20,000Hz, 1% THD)
  • Two-Channel (2-ohm): 250 watts x 2 channel RMS (20-20,000 Hz, 1% THD)
  • Bridged (4-ohm): 500 watts x 1 channel RMS (20-20,000 Hz, 1% THD)

Stereo and Mono Simultaneously (SAMS): You can drive a mono subwoofer and stereo speakers at the same time with this amplifier. Passive crossovers are required on the speaker outputs (high pass for the stereo speakers and low pass for the subwoofer). The minimum impedance for SAMS operation is 2 ohms per channel for the stereo speakers and 4 ohms for the subwoofer (bridged mono).

Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:

  • +12 V: The amp turns on when +12 volts is applied to the remote terminal.
  • DC Offset: The amp turns on when a 6 volt offset is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker-level source); in this mode the amp's remote terminal acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component.
  • Audio: The amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected; in this mode the amp's remote terminal acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component.

Soft-Start Circuitry: The Kicker IX500.2 contains "soft-start" circuitry that lessens initial shock load when powering up the amplifier, and a muting circuit to eliminate audio distortion that might surge down the line.

Protection Circuitry: The IX500.2 has protection circuitry that will turn the amp off in the event of overheating, over voltage (power input), under voltage (power input), short circuit (speaker output), and over current (speaker output). If the Protection LED on the front side of the amp illuminates red, the protection circuit has engaged and the amp will not play until the problem is resolved.

Stackable: The optional Kicker IXSM (206IXSM) or IXSK stacking mounts allow you to stack multiple Kicker IX-series amplifiers.


Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels coming from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the Kicker IX500.2 features an adjustable gain control (low level: 125mV-5V; high level: 250mV-10V). This means that no matter what kind of radio is connected to this amplifier, the appropriate gain control adjustment can be made to ensure loud, clear, distortion-free music. The rotary control allows you to adjust the gain from 0 to 11.

Crossover: The amplifier has a 3-way crossover switch that lets you select Low-pass, High-pass, or Off (for full-range operation). The crossover's cutoff frequency can be set between 50 and 200 Hz using a rotary control. The slope is 12 dB per octave.

KickEQ: The amplifier's KickEQ bass boost circuit provides a variable (0-18 dB) signal boost at 40 Hz. The rotary control lets you dial in just the right amount of bass boost.


Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set-screw terminals that will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on set-screw terminal will accept up to 8-gauge wire. The included Allen-wrench is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

External Fuses: The IX500.2 does not have internal fuses. One external 100-amp or two 50-amp AFS, AGU, or MAXI fuses must be installed on the power wire within 18" of the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 100-amps, the original should be replaced with a 100-amp fuse.

Speaker Outputs: The Kicker IX500.2 is equipped with two pairs of speaker terminals. All four speaker terminals are set-screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. The supplied Allen-wrench is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Note: The speaker output terminals can be used in 2-channel mode or bridged to mono.

Dual Input Sensitivity Inputs: The IX amplifiers have dual input sensitivity differential RCA inputs which can receive either high or low levels signals from your car's head unit. A high-level signal can be run from the head unit's speaker outputs to the stereo RCA input of the amplifier using a Speaker Wire-to-RCA adapter (206KiSL , sold separately). The Input Level Switch on the amp should be set to HI. If you plan to use the head unit's preamp outputs to deliver the signal to the amplifier, a standard RCA stereo patch cord should be used, and the Input Level Switch set to LO.

Line Level Output: The amplifier has a pair of gold-plated RCA line level outputs for feeding a full-range stereo signal to another amplifier. It is the same signal that is input through the amp's inputs. Either input method (HI or LO) will provide a low-level output signal to the RCA outputs. The amplifier's crossovers have no effect on the line level output signal, however, if you input a filtered signal from the head unit, the amp's low-level output will also be filtered.
