I don't like this size or any other oval speaker but they play pretty well and it was the size that fit the rear roof location in a 2000(OLD BODY STYLE) chevy tahoe.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my 87 GMC S15. My truck is a base model so it didn't come with speakers behind the seat and not was it pre-wired for them. There was also no factory mounting hole. Luckily, Crutchfield included mounting brackets free of charge. In a higher trim level, my truck would have come with 4x10s in the rear. I am somewhat of an audiophile and I believe round speakers produce a more accurate sound but I didn't want to hack anything to make room for round speakers, which is why I compromised with these elipticals. Out of the box, I felt they were made well. No sloppy glue joints or anything. I went a little overboard in the installation, lined the speaker cavity with GTMAT insulator to cut down on body resonance and used egg crate foam to absorb the sound waves from the rear of the speaker. I also installed the KS46s in the front. I feel these speakers were a perfect match for my JVC head unit at 20w rms per channel. They were a definate upgrade and being a coax speaker, having tweeters was a huge improvement over just having 2 stock speakers up front. To my ears, they still sound like eliptical speakers, but elipticals have come a long way. Overall, I am pretty happy with this setup. The sound is much clearer than before, and they produce a good punch for their size. Don't expect to feel the bass, its a small, low watt speaker. However, if set up and powered right, they sound good. I think my set up even sounds great out side of the truck.

Pros: Made well, Cructhfield included mounting hardware and oem wire connectors, big improvement in sound quality from stock.

Cons: They are eliptical speakers, a little more expensive that the competitors.

Fit just right

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers. They are really loud and clear and well worth the money. Don't waist your money on infinitys if your just looking for crisp clear sounding speakers these are the ones for you. If your looking for speakers with bass then I wouldn't go with these. There is no bass and they don't handle bass real well. They don't distort unless you really have it loud but the bass is more just a thump then a bass sound.

Pros: Clear for the price

Cons: No bass Doesn't handle bass well

The only modification that needed to be made was slight enlarging of the mounting holes on the speakers. The instructions were great. The sound was great

Pros: Only needed slight modification to the speaker holes, otherwise a perfect fit.

Cons: No cons.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My truck never came with rear speakers or a place to install speakers. So I installed sony xplod 6x9 speakers in a modified box to fit them behind my seat. They sounded good but were quite muffled. I ordered the 4x10s from Crutchfield after reading the speaker reviews, and was trying to figure out how I was going to mount them while waiting for them to arrive. When they came I was very pleasantly surprised to see that Crutchfield had already devised a way. They said free speaker covers came with the speakers, but I didn't realize they were the speaker mounts also. Very slick setup. I drilled 3 holes per speaker cover and mounted the speakers in the space right behind the side seatbelts. Easy setup. perfect fit. Not only do they look good I can now hear my rear speakers without the muffled quality! Thanks much Crutchfield!!

Pros: sound good, easy installation.

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Perfect fil for my 93 Suburban. You won't find better sound for the price, and if you like the radio but aren't an extreme audiophile, these are perfect. Sounds way better than stock, good bass. The suburban has 4 rear speakers, so consider a small amp for the rear speakers if you are driving all four from a standard radio deck. Gives them alot more punch.

Pros: Quality build and perfect fit. Better than stock.

Little speakers big sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers would not have been my first choice for my truck due to their size but, they did fit the small space that was available and were affordable. My crutchfield advisor assured me that they were good choices for my application. As soon as they were installed I was amazed They sounded great, they handle lots of bass and deliver rich clean sound. I will never again be fooled by a speakers size.
