Customer Q&A

Q
Will it pickup FM stations?
steven  May 12, 2017

A
The Terk HDTVa is designed to pick up over-the-air digital TV signals and would not pickup FM radio stations. If you'd like to find an FM antenna to use at home, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat so they can help you pick one out. Hope that helps!

Q
I don't have an upstairs or attic to put it in, will it still work for me?

I installed mine on the 2nd floor and it works fine. I'm in a large metro area. I put another in a friends 1st fl in Barneget nj and it didn't work well at all. He was in an area where their weren't stations nearby. I put another in the 1st floor and it too worked well. If your close to the broadcast (20 miles ) I THINK IT SHOULD WORK. Good luck.

Yes! We use one on the first floor and get great reception. Just follow all directions . We place ours near a window and move slightly for best reception . It's amazing ! Judy S.

Every situation is different but it should work fine. It is an indoor antenna.

I'm on the 2nd floor of a 3-story building, but this antenna works well for me. The Terk owner's manual does say "for houses with aluminum siding/insulation or stucco, place the antenna near a window to minimize interference" {on Crutchfield's page for this model, you'll see a link for "Owner's manual"}. Hope this helps--Bill W

Yes. We have ours in a downstairs bedroom and it works great.
aimee  Apr 23, 2017
A
Yes, it will still work. It helps if you can get it close to a window, but it will get a signal through an exterior wall.
danny  Apr 23, 2017
A
It might not. I got it to work for some channels in a normal room, but have never gotten it to work for all over air had channels in area. I ended up just getting PlayStation Vue and not using this

Q
How may miles will this antenna reach? Is it a multidirectional antenna? I have stations between 50 and 75 miles away id like to pull in

A
All radio waves, including TV are line of sight, meaning that as the earth curves, you begin to loose signal. Mountains and buildings in the way will effect the signal, however the waves also bounce off the atmosphere. Generally 12 to 20 miles, will be a very strong signal. Farther than that and a clear signal decreases rapidly depending on terrain and the atmosphere

I can't even get my question to register, so all I can answer is my own question. That means going elsewhere of course. Guess I'll purchase my antenna elsewhere too.
barbara  Aug 18, 2014
A
This will all depend on your local areas broadcast distance, I believe you can Google the coverage areas for your location. Currently I receive channels from NY city and the antenna is inside on the North New Jersey Shore. Maybe 30 miles, and it's still spotty.

Dear Malinda: I can't answer your questions with exactness. I, however, have used these particular Terk HDTV antennas with multiple TVs over the past 13 years with good results. These Terk HDTV antennas would be my first choice among such antennas. Hope that this might be of some help, Malinda. Good luck.

The maximum range is 45 miles and its range depends on your location. Our location was in a low-lying area, we could only reach a tower 14 miles away.
