Looking for an easy way to add local channels to your DBS lineup? Terk's TV44 provides reception of over-the-air TV broadcasts available in your area, in both UHF and VHF bands, without adding monthly charges to your bill.

The TV44 clips onto your multi-LNB satellite dish in minutes, no tools required. Built-in diplexers combine local VHF/UHF and satellite signals, so there's no extra wiring from the dish to your home. Plus, the antenna's internal amplifier is actually powered by your DBS receiver, so no additional power connection is required.

The TV44 is designed for multi-LNB systems, but may also be used with a single-LNB system.

Has Its Limitations

Darius from Southern California on 10/24/2007

Be aware that this antenna will NOT work with the new Directv 5 LNB dishes using the Ka bands. Over the air HD signals and the Ka band overlap frequencies when diplexed over the same cable. However, the antenna is easy to install, comes with everything you need and does a decent job for pulling in signals for an omni directional antenna. So if you have a 2 or 3 LNB Directv dish, and live close to your local transmission towers, this product could be a good fit.

Product Overview: The Terk TV-44 compliments the 24-inch elliptical and the 18-inch oval DBS satellite dishes. It picks up VHF and UHF signals, allowing you to enjoy local programming, at no extra cost, along with the satellite programming.

Compatibility: This antenna is made specifically for multi-LNB systems. The antenna can be used with single LNB systems, but there will be connections and hardware that won't be needed. It does not require the removal, repositioning or retuning of the existing satellite dish.

Power Supply: The antenna receives power from the user's DBS receiver through the existing coaxial cable, so no additional power supply is needed.

Amplification: The TV-44 features an internal amplifier that minimizes signal loss.

Reception: Although not as powerful as a properly mounted multi-element antenna with a rotor, the TV-44 should be superior to a standard rabbit ear antenna because it will be located outdoors where signal strength is higher and it is amplified. The antenna can be rotated on the dish to adjust the reception.

Weatherproofing: The antenna features a powder-coated weatherproof finish and a sealed housing for optimal outdoor performance.

Mounting: The TV-44 mounts to the outside perimeter of the 18" oval or 24" elliptical DBS satellite dish. The attached clamps secure the antenna to the dish, and can be tightened by hand. There are additional security clips recommended for use with any 20" or larger dish.

Connections: The antenna has four pairs of inputs and outputs with female F-type connectors. The output from each LNB is connected to one of the inputs on the antenna, using the supplied 32" coaxial cables. The corresponding antenna output is connected to the coaxial cable feeding the signal to the satellite receiver. The antenna comes with 4 indoor diplexers, four 32" coaxial cables and eight 12" cables, enough to feed the antenna signal to four separate receivers. (A dish with a 4-way multi-switch is required to feed 4 receivers.) For satellite systems with less than 4 connected receivers, there will be some leftover cables and diplexers.

Diplexers: Since the satellite signal and over-the-air antenna signal are both fed through the same coaxial cable, the signals will need to be split before connections are made to the satellite receiver. The supplied diplexers split the signal, allowing you to have separate connections to the "Satellite In" and "Antenna In" jacks on the receiver.

  • Element Type: Broadband, single element
  • DBS Configuration: Multi-LNB
  • Operating Bandwidth: 54-806 MHz (UHF and VHF channels)
  • Radiation Pattern: Multi-directional (picks up broadcast signals from every direction but the most extreme angles)
  • Amplifier Gain: VHF: 18dB typical; UHF: 12dB typical
  • Output Impedance: 75 Ohm
