Our take on the Terk XMicro2

Terk's ultra-compact XMicro2 XM Satellite Radio antenna gives you all the performance you need with a profile so low, it's hardly noticeable. It mounts to your vehicle's roof with its magnetic base, and its rubberized feet keep it from scratching your paint.

The 23' micro-coaxial cable will connect to any in-car XM radio with a single antenna input (micro cables are usually routed under molding of rear window to the XM radio). It'll also connect to XM plug-and-play radios.

Important Note: You must subscribe to XM Satellite Radio to receive the satellite radio signal.

Was just what I needed to restore the XM radio the goes with my Alpine system. Did have to add a splitter at the radio that has a 2 antenna ports for XM & terrestrial reception to stop the missing Ant on the dash display.

I needed a new antenna for my Satelitte Radio. It was a Pioneer radio and needed an adapter as opposed to the normal, or newer, radio. The folks at the local big box electronics store directed me to the Crutchfield site. I ordered it and it was here in two days. Exactly what I needed and very little down time. Nice job Crutchfield.

Pros: Quick delivery, exactly what I needed

Cons: None

Antenna is smaller than 9 year old original. The wire is slightly larger and probably less susceptible to damage.

Pros: Works as it should.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used this one from day one, discarding the basic one which didn't seem to have as durable of a cable & a weaker magnet too. This most recent one ordered is for an upcoming install of some slightly older gear into another vehicle.

Pros: A little heavier duty than the original antenna included with the tuner.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The magnetic base adheres well to the roof and the antenna works very well. What I've never seen is a review of the "Techs" of Crutchfield. Every time I have had the pleasure of making a call to Crutchfield's tech advisors I come away totally informed and confident the advise given to me is correct. The Techs need to know how appreciated they are.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really good antenna, Its small size makes it easy to conceal and ample wire to give you the option to put it where you want. The Crutchfield tech was very helpful in telling me a great place to mount antenna in my Jeep where its not seen and also in leading me to find a adaptor (that they no longer carry) to apply this newer style antenna to my older XM radio

Pros: Small size Good reception

Cons: No longer sell adaptor to apply to older XM radio's

Got this antenna when the Car Dealer cut the original when removing the radio after trading in our car. I needed a replacement to connect my XM and Pioneer 8400 to make it work in my truck. It works as advertised how much can one say about an antenna they either work or don't.This works.

Pros: Connects to pioneer external XM unit

Cons: None

Great replacement for my in dash aftermarket satellite ready radio. Original antenna was reading no signal. The Terk Xmicro2 is smaller, has a strong magnet and the wire is thicker than the original. After easy installation a strong signal was restored. Service from Crutchfield was excellent.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So far so good. Purchased and installed it about 3 weeks ago. Slightly better reception than the much older (4 years) terk antenna that I replaced. It was showing "no signal". This antenna combined with the XM-SP saved my bacon. The XM-SP combined the two (SAT/TERR) outputs on my alpine tuner into one, enabling use of this newer one input antenna. Small design and strong magnets make easy install. Will update post if problems develop.

Great replacement antenna. I have the Roady XT and the wire for that antenna broke . The stores wanted $49.99 for the replacement, then I found this one. Works great, and looks like it came with the little system.

I purchased a Terk XM kit for GM vehicle from Crutchfield. A year later, the antenna that came in the kit went out. Factory radio was saying No Signal.
Replaced antenna and now I'm jamm'n away again to the sounds of XM.
Try replacing the antenna first before Terk asks you to send the whole unit to them for testing.

Bought my Starmate with the TerkXmicro. Installation was no problem and I was so excited to finally have Howard back in my life I thought all was great...until 4 weeks later the antenna wire rubber shielding broke away from the housing of the magnet and then I learned my nice little Starmate has a great troubleshooting feature, it tells me "No Antenna Detected".

I was so mad I called Sirius and told them they should think hard about being associated with equipement like this because it will cost them subscriptions and loyality. Howard is a strong draw, but if I can't maintain a maintenance free connection I'll dump the whole idea...period, end of discussion.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased the Terk XMicro2 antenna along with my Alpine radio. Had the antenna mounted on the roof of my saturn by a installer I got through installer.net. After about 2 weeks, the antenna started to go bad. Was losing my connection at places where I initially had a good signal. About a month after it was installed, the antenna was complete useless (no signal at all). Got a second Terk antenna and had it installed. Again, after a couple weeks the antenna was going bad again. Now I need to have the antenna replaced for a third time in 3 months. Deffinately will not choose the Terk antenna again.

I am on my second one and I am still having problems with reception. I could be sittibg in an open area and I could loose reception. The last TERK antenna was the throught glass one and I did not have any problems with it. But could not remove it after I got a new vehicle. Now I can't find another one.

Features

Overview: The Terk XMicro2 antenna is a high-performance magnetic-mount antenna designed specifically for XM Satellite Radio reception. It receives signals from satellites and terrestrial repeaters simultaneously, to ensure continuous reception.

Note: In addition to the antenna, you must have an XM Satellite Radio tuner and a subscription to XM Radio in order to receive satellite radio programming.

Cables: The attached 23-foot micro cable can be routed around window moldings and through access holes more easily than conventional size cables. The micro cable is terminated with a color-coded FAKRA connector.

Note: To connect this single-lead XM antenna to an older dual-input XM tuner, you'll need Terk's XM-SP adapter, or the American International XM-1DAS adapter. You cannot use these adapters to connect a dual-lead antenna to a single-input tuner.

Mounting: The antenna has an ultra strong magnetic base with rubber feet. This ensures years of worry free use, yet allows easy removal.

Right Angle Connector: Comes with a right angle elbow connector that connects to the XM tuner.

The Terk XMicro2 offers a standard "SMB" plug for connection to aftermarket SirusXM tuners. Factory SiriusXM tuners use proprietary connectors for their antennas so, if you need a replacement SiriusXM antenna for your factory tuner, you may need to get the part directly from Ford. Maybe .. maybe not.If your new car has a shark fin on the roof you might not need it. The factory radio doesn't have the same connection. ( I believe) [ Henry Jun 15, 2016 ]

It will connect to the vehicle docking cradle that comes with the Onyx EZ (assuming you got the one that came with the vehicle accessory package). If you do not have the vehicle docking cradle, you'll want to get the Vehicle Accessory Kit which comes with the cradle, mounting bracket, antenna, power cord, and an audio cable: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_220SXDV3/SiriusXM-SXDV3-Car-Kit.html?tp=3230 I hope that helps! You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with XM tuner. They will be able to pull up the tuner and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff May 24, 2015 ] Staff
Yes it will, it plugs in right in the back of your unit. Just look for the pink colored connector on the back of your unit. [ LARRY A Mar 06, 2015 ]
I believe that it will. I used it as a replacement for an antenna that the technician damaged while installing a SiriusXM Edge in my '62 Corvette and it worked just fine. [ ROBERT H Mar 05, 2015 ]
