Keeping track of your car is one thing — keeping track of drivers is another. The Audiovox Car Connection lets you do both through one simple device that installs in your vehicle's OBDII port without tools. All you need to do is create an online account and you'll have instant access to your car's whereabouts and mechanical health from nearly anywhere.

Easy to install and use for instant updates

Plug the Car Connection into your car's OBDII port (typically located under the steering wheel) — it's that easy. Then log in to Audiovox's My Car Connection website to register your vehicle, choose a plan, and activate your account. You'll be able to start tracking your vehicle from your computer, tablet, or smartphone once your registration is complete. Got a fleet of vehicles at your disposal? You can manage up to 20 different devices from one account.

Audiovox Car Connection

You can track your car's path using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Real-time vehicle tracking

The Car Connection utilizes wireless technology to provide the location, direction, speed, and history of your vehicle, including a path you can revisit later. The interface makes it easy to set geo-fence zones, so you'll always know where your vehicle is going. You can track your vehicle's location every 5 minutes when it's running, and every hour when it's not. You'll also be able to see its past history for the past 24 hours.

Got a teen who might be tempted to drive astray? You can establish geo-fence zones such as school, work, or home to make sure they're arriving safely and on time. The locator will send email or text alerts to your smartphone, tablet, or computer so you'll instantly be aware of boundary exits, which can be a real lifesaver if your vehicle gets towed or stolen.

If you find yourself constantly challenged to locate your vehicle in large parking lots, the LotSpot feature guides you back to your wheels no matter where you are, via Google™ walking instructions on nearly every type of smartphone.

Reduce dangerous phone use in the car

The Car Connection lets you access the free ZoomSafer app for your driver's Android™ or BlackBerry® smartphone. Once installed on the driver's phone, the app allows the account holder to block the phone's texting and emailing functions while the vehicle is running, and limit the number of contacts available for hands-free calling. The app will even send a text message back to the original texter or caller informing them that the driver is busy. The app can activated from the Car Connection account online, and works automatically for assigned phones.

Encourage safe and efficient driving

The Car Connection's built-in accelerometer measures hard braking, fast acceleration, sharp turning, and other extreme driving maneuvers, recording these instances in a printable report which the user can review. If you've got a suspected leadfoot in the family, you can track exactly when and where they were putting the pedal to the metal. The Car Connection report also includes a "driver score" for safe driving, which can be tracked and improved upon over time.

The Car Connection also monitors daily driving habits for fuel consumption, including real-time miles per gallon. It can generate a report of your driving efficiency, with indicators for where you can improve your car's performance, including optimum speed and where you're idling the most often.

Stay on top of your car's health

Diagnostic trouble codes can be a real hassle for just about everyone but professional mechanics. You can save yourself a costly trip to the garage with the Car Connection in your vehicle — it allows quick access to your vehicle's diagnostic information, including issues that'll trigger your "Check Engine" light. In many cases you'll be given a health rating for each specific problem. You can also use the account to schedule reminders for regular vehicle maintenance, such as fluids, belts, wiper blades, brakes, and more.

You can pay in installments of $9.95 per month per device or $89.95 per year per device, plus a one-time activation fee of $19.95 per device. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Note: In certain vehicles, the Car Connection module may interfere with driver's knees or you may want to hide the device away. Audiovox's OBDHAR Y-harness accessory offers a simple solution.

Yet another disappoiont day

JAS from Pittsburgh, PA on 5/15/2014

Woke up to yet another disappointing day. Absolutely no locations for today. Yesterday left Zones without ever entering, The "Recent Trips" have not updated since April 25. Yesterdays tracking started at 3:01 PM, The day before it started at 7:19 at some random point along her trip. We purchased the device to make sure our daughter is getting to school on time etc. as so far after 1 month, repeated customer service calls, plugging and unplugging performance is unreliable at best bordering on false advertising. They said they would replace the unit if I return it. So basically I will have no tracking for at least 2 weeks which is equivalent to not having the unit.

Pros: Absolutely none

Cons: Absolutely everything

Disappointed from Mo on 3/10/2014

Worked kind of for first month. Gives some codes. All others were "mfg specific", in other words unreadable. After the first month the android app stopped updating, stating "Internal Server Error". Called Audiovox TS only to find out the customer support hours are false on their website. They even claimed Saturday support but that wasn't the case either. After multiple calls and hours of sitting listening to ridiculous music and broken informational adds, I tried customer service instead. I actual got a human only to be told she wasn't technical and would transfer me to someone who was. That ended in another 15min wait at he end of which I was disconnected. After calling right back only to find out it was after hours to call back tomorrow. So to say the least zero support. I know the device on the car was working because I could look it up online but the app could not due to this" internal Server Error". Calling AT&T to discontinue a service that hasn't worked in a month, even though I paid for it. Beware...

Cons: No support, unreadable codes, can't reset codes from device, little added value.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Location working OK with iPhone app. OK also.

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: The claim that the device would read diagnostic codes is a problem and monthly charge kind of high.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the Audiovox Car Connection device as a means to keep track of the location of my daughters car but mainly as a means to monitor the diagnostic repair codes from the ODMII of her car, a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. What I found was that the claims the device would read diagnostic codes was WAY overstated if not false. It seems you must have experienced a "Check Engine" light before it functions. You can't look at history or anything else if the check engine light is not on. The next headache is that you have to sign up for the Audivox "Car Connection" service that has a set-up fee and a monthly subscription fee. You absolutely must sign up for this or the device is useless. But what a pain to use it. The next giant pain was calling Audivox for technical support. It was a maize but on the third try I got to the right spot but after being on hold for 6 minutes the hung-up on me. After another try I got through the maize and after 5 minutes spoke to a support person. When I pointed out that the device did not read codes they pointed out that it did not say it would on the box. I pointed out that the specifications for the product on their webpage said it would. The support guy then said I could return the device. I asked about a refund for the Audiovox "Car Connection" service. He said he could cancel that and refund the monthly charge, but not the set-up . So I'm screwed

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Does not function as a code reading device. "Car Connection" monthly service is a pain to setup and if an error occurs such as initial mileage entry the device must be returned for another. The location is not an on-line or real time reading and can take as much as 30 minutes to see. There can be major gaps in knowing where the vehicle is located. Audiovox is not easy to deal with.

This information is updated on the Car Connection website every 24 hours.
  • Maintenance Reminders: You can set reminders on the Car Connection website for Oil Change, Tire Rotation, Brake Pads, Timing Belt, etc.. These reminders are triggered via certain mileage milestones; such as 3,000; 25,000; and 50,000 miles. Each reminder needs to be user-reset.
  • Recalls: Notifies you of recalls the pertain to your vehicle make, model, and year.

Fuel Savings: Car Connection can help improve your fuel consumption by providing information like average idle time and speed the vehicle is most fuel efficient at, as well as the carbon foot print left by the vehicle. The Fuel Savings feature monitors daily driving habits and gives you the ability to generate a fuel consumption report by MPG (miles per gallon). Car Connection provides a numeric value as well as a visual MPG value in a Red, Yellow, or Green format (Green being the most optimum performance). This information is updated on the Car Connection website each time you log in.

Driver Scoring: The Audiovox Car Connection contains an onboard 3-axis accelerometer that can detect hard braking, fast acceleration, and sharp turning. The Car Connection uses this data in combination with your driving habits, mileage of the vehicle, and advanced algorithms to determine a "Driver Score." You'll be able to see its current location, as well as its previous locations within a 24 hour period. When your vehicle is not running, Car Connection will monitor the location of it every hour. Track online or from a Smartphone in real-time.

Safety Zones (Geo-Fences): The Safety Zones feature allows you to create specific zones that notify you (by email or text) if a driver of the vehicle enters or exits that location. Zones are configured by the user on the Car Connection website and can be as small as a 600' diameter circle or as large as an entire city. You can set as many as five zones. This feature is great for tracking your teenage kid or aging parent. It may also be used as a Stolen Vehicle notification.

Restrict Phone Usage: A Free downloadable app is available from Car Connection that can be downloaded to your Android or Blackberry smartphone which limits the use of your smartphone while driving. Car Connection will automatically launch the app loaded on the phone when the vehicle's ignition is turned ON. When a call or text is received while driving, the sender will receive a text notification that your are driving and will call them back. Now, you can have peace of mind that your loved on is not driving while being distracted by a phone call. You can select numbers that you need access to while driving (such as 911).

Lot Spot: Lot Spot automatically logs the location of your vehicle when the ignition is shut off and provides Google walking instructions on your iPhone, Android, or Blackberry smartphone back to your vehicle.
