This universal headrest monitor and DVD player from Audiovox will keep your backseat passengers occupied and entertained, as they enjoy all their favorite movies and shows on its crisp 7" widescreen display. Its built-in FM transmitter beams the sound to your vehicle's radio, or you can enjoy peace and quiet up front as your passengers listen through optional wired or wireless headphones.
The AVXMTGHR1D can accommodate the music and movies you've stored on a thumb drive or SD™ card, so you and your passengers can enjoy music and videos without even needing a DVD or CD. You can plug almost any other type of audio/video source into the auxiliary input.
A wireless remote allows your backseat buddies to choose their entertainment. This headrest monitor comes with an assortment of support tube adapters to ensure it'll fit in your vehicle properly. The package also includes black, pewter, and shale colored headrest covers so you can pick the look that matches your interior best.
Important Note: This replacement headrest is not for use with the active headrest system found in some vehicles. Replacing such a headrest system could increase the chances of injury in the event of an accident, and may void your vehicle's warranty.

Great product!! Excellent quality my kids love it!
I love this!!! The only problem I have sometimes is that the radio has static and sometimes gets interrupted by a stronger station. Well worth the investment!
The item installed very easy although none of the adapters will allow for headrest adjustment. My kids love the quality and reliability because all others that I have purchased would skip constantly.
Pros: Easy install Color matching Ease of adding inputs
Cons: Remote is a bit busy for younger users Seat adapters will not allow for headrest adjustment
I stalled lil ovet a wrek ago, and Everything going so far so good
Pros: Dual channel capability for two channel headsets, hidden dvd player behind the screen, also can watch what I play from the front visor screen or head unit.
Cons: only thing I ain't content about is the directional for the infred beemer for using the wireless headphone, they are 2 channels, but yet if the person in the opposite seat or middle seat want to hear what is on their player, u can only hear it if u r directly in front of it, that's unsatisfactory, need to make it where anyone in the car can hear it if the wireles's dual channel headsets are selected to channel 1 or 2 for that player.
Good value for the price. Mounting sleeves need to be changed as the headrests are a little loose in a 2013 camry; mounting sleeves are of a plastic that is too brittle so I expect problems down the road. FM modulator and the wireless headphones produce a sound that is quite clear.
Pros: nice picture. price. fairly easy install
Cons: lack of detailed instructions. The mounting sleeves for the headrests need to be totally revamped.
Bought two for my 2005 Explorer. We installed them ourselves. Pretty easy to do, although time consuming... running the wires through the seats, under the center console, and "plug" under the steering column. But once installed, they work great. No problems with glare. Easy for the kids to use.
Pros: Easy to use, good picture
Cons: Time consuming to install.
Took awhile to install as I working in my wife's 2012 Durango, never taken interior panels off before. That ended up being easy as did most steps. The units wire together enabling either to be a master and/or slave display using RCA cables not supplied. All wiring was connected and hidden in the extra space in the center console. The headrest poles adjust for your vehicle, and there is a set of bushings included to compensate for the difference in pole diameter. I used a second set of bushings at the bottom of the pole socket for more stability. They work great in all modes and kept the kids quiet on a long trip.
Pros: Easy install for someone with a little auto skills.
Cons: Very small one. If you need bushings to stabilize the HR poles in the factory seat socket, you'll need 4. One each for top and bottom. You get a box of 10 different sizes in the box, I used the next smaller size and it worked fine.
I bought 2 of these DVD players and connected them up in primary/secondary mode which means that a DVD movie playing in one of the headrests can be viewed by the other head rest. For example, I only have one copy of Frozen DVD but but my girls can watch it at the same time. I was a bit worried about the FM modulator but the audio comes through quite nicely with little/no crackling or interference. The other thing that I noticed is that, at times, if we go over a strong bump in the road, the DVD will stop playing and the kids have to restart it. No big deal and happens very rarely but something to be aware of. I havent yet tried plugging in an iPad (via the external input availalbe on the headrest) so not sure whether this will work as advertised. I took off one star for the following reasons: 1. Poor/no instructions in the manual on how to install in primary/secondary configuration 2. The headrest dont quite fit correctly in the seats of my Honda Odyssey 2014. I have used the provided plastic adapters but I noticed that only one of the poles is tight.. Might have to contact Crutchfield/AudioVoxx and see what they suggest
Pros: * seems to work quite well * good audio
Cons: * Headrest doesnt yet sit in seat correctly * rough bumps in the road CAN (but dont always) make the DVD player freeze. Needs to be restarted
Nice unit had a pixel out of it but only I would find it other then that no issues nice install good looking could have nicer vinyl but it does look good
Pros: Price Quality
Cons: Vinyl headrest matching
Great product, easy install.

The diameter of steel tubes are 10mm but can be adjusted between 12-17mm using the included post adapters. Once installed, the headrests can be tilted about 15° for the best viewing angle.

Remote Control: In addition to the unit's front-panel controls, the AVXMTGHR1DA comes supplied with a full function IR remote control for wireless operation of the headrest monitor.

Thanks for the question! Since the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX features both HDMI & USB inputs instead of outputs, you wouldn't be able to use those connections to feed video to the Audiovox AVXMTGHR1D headrest monitor. For more details on how to connect the Pioneer unit to the headrest monitor, please feel free to get in touch with an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. They can offer more specific details along with recommendations on the cables you'll need for installation. [ Larry Jun 05, 2017 ] Staff
Thanks for your question. This is for one individual headrest monitor. Hope that helps. [ Kenny Jan 16, 2017 ] Staff
No, but very simple to buy a cigarette lighter plug from radio shack or other and wire it up. my Rav4 had a cig lighter receptacle down deep in the armrest compartment (?strange place) that made it a perfect place; fish the audiovox cables underneath and into it, and connect the cig lighter plug-voila~ [ GARY B Apr 29, 2016 ]

The unit comes with changeable "sleeves" in grey, black and tan. Our car is two-tone tan leather, so the tan looks great. We bought two so the kids can watch separately or view the same movie. They work great and there is no glare from any seat in the back. Hope this helps. [ ALLSON Aug 21, 2015 ]
If you look unde "product highlights" it says "includes black, pewter, and shale headrest covers" It was easy to change ours to a different color. [ kirby Aug 20, 2015 ]
It comes with three different covers, black, gray and a tan to match most interiors. [ Ryan Aug 20, 2015 ]
YEs it does. 3 different skins [ Saira Aug 20, 2015 ]

Good, not HD, but good. [ Ricky Apr 26, 2015 ]
Outstanding picture quality. Probably not HD but very nice picture. [ Ryan Apr 26, 2015 ]
The picture quality is great. No glare. No tilt, though. [ ALLSON Apr 29, 2015 ]
They do tilt, but don't hold tilt position well. A little loose. [ Ben Apr 28, 2015 ]
No they don't [ kirby Apr 27, 2015 ]
No, they do not tilt. Also, check your owner's manual to see if the headrests are part of the airbag system. We were unable to use them because the airbag system becomes inactive if you disconnect the original factory headrests. [ Marc Apr 26, 2015 ]
No they don't [ Ricky Apr 26, 2015 ]
No tilt capability with this. [ Ryan Apr 26, 2015 ]
YOu can set them up where they can each play a DVD, play a DVD on the driver's side and view that movie on the passenger's side, or vice versa. These units have AV out and AV in so you just need to purchase one or two sets of rca cables. [ Robert Apr 17, 2015 ]
Yes it can [ Curtis Mar 29, 2015 ]
Yes. I connected the output of the "main" unit to the input on the second unit and this allows you to play the DVD on one unit and watch it on both units. You will need two male by male Philco (AV) connectors that they neither supply nor mention in their literature. [ Ricky Mar 23, 2015 ]
Yes they will. [ Ricky Jan 28, 2015 ]
You can adjust the seat up and down, but it does shake a little, but my 5year old loves it [ RUBEN Jan 28, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Greg Sep 06, 2014 ] Staff
Just remove the Tan and replace with Black.....VERY esy to do! It was easy to install as well. [ kirby Sep 02, 2014 ]
Thanks guys. [ Ray Aug 31, 2014 ]
The optional covers are in the box and are exchanged by the buyer. Pretty simple to do. They fit snugly and look factory once installed. BTW, I installed two in my wife's Durango and work very well. [ BLAKE Aug 31, 2014 ]
You remove the tan and install the black. It's a very simple process. Just follow the instructions included. [ Ricky Aug 30, 2014 ]
I ran all of the cables to the extra space in and around the center console. In the area was a cigarette lighter type power socket for cell phones chargers etc. I used a pair of "scotch lock" connectors to tap the power off of the power outlet wires. I also used the area to connect the two units to each other enabling one unit to feed audio/video to both headrests, or to use each unit independently. I found the install fairly simple, and the fuse for the power outlet was more than able to handle the power to everything. [ BLAKE Apr 16, 2014 ]
You will need headphones as there are no speakers. [ kirby Mar 24, 2014 ]
We did not wire our to do this. However, if the unit was on and playing when the car was stopped, the movie will pick back up right where it left off. [ ALLSON Aug 21, 2015 ]
If they are wired correctly they will. [ CHRIS Feb 21, 2014 ]
you only need 1 cable; i made the drivers seat player be the master, connected the output to the input of the passenger unit, so the passenger is the slave. [ GARY B Apr 29, 2016 ]
The unit has Audio/Video out and Audio/Video in. You can link the two that way but would have to purchase separate RCA cables to do so. [ Matthew Jan 28, 2014 ]
We only purchased one of them but when we installed it, all of the cables are included to hook them up together. If I understood the instructions clearly, they would play both seperately or simultaneously. It was really easy to install in a 2005 Avalanche too. GOOD LUCK! [ kirby Jan 28, 2014 ]
Check the specifications. In the "output" section, look for terms like "video output" or "AV" output. [ MARQUES Dec 31, 2013 ]
Yes it can [ SHEILA Dec 19, 2013 ]
