Overview

Our take on the MTX Thunder TC3001

Thunder TC amps continue the tradition of innovation and quality that put MTX on top. All Thunder TC amps feature "smart-engage" speaker-level inputs that engage the amp automatically when you turn on your stereo. When you're connecting to a factory radio you won't have to run a separate wire to turn on your amp.

The Thunder TC3001 mono amplifier features special technology that produces high power from a compact package, allowing it to dish out up to 300 watts to your subwoofer setup. And MTX underrates every Thunder TC amp — each new amp's "birth certificate" certifies that the amp has been tested to produce at least 10% more than the listed power rating.

A variable frequency filter tailors the amp's output so your subs sound their best, and the subsonic filter strips away power-wasting and inaudible ultra-low frequencies. The Thunder EQ bass boost lets you dial in as much "fat" as you need — you can mount the subwoofer level control on your dash, and kick up the bass from the driver's seat.

Priced per speaker

This little amp packs a giant punch. I have this amp powering a MTX Road Thunder 12" sub, and it absolutely pounds. I would recommend this amp based on its small size, and price.

LOUD AND CLEAR

Tyler from Hawaii on 11/7/2007

Wow I can't believe how clear the bass is compared to my old ALPINE amp. It pushes less then the alpine but the bass is much clearer and it hits lower. One thing i wasn't aware of was that this amp needs a 4 guage power and ground to perform at it's best. Also I got this from scratch and dent and only the box was damaged not the amp.

Great power and thump out of such a small package. I have this powering 1 10" rockford P2 and it pounds great.

Features

Overview: The MTX TC3001 is a class-D monoblock amp which is rated at 300 watts x 1 channel into 2 ohms, to power the subwoofer or subwoofers in your system.

Class D: This amplifier uses the patented class D technology to offer high efficiency and interference free operation.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The CEA 2006 compliance ensures the power of this amplifier is measured according to strict standard dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association.

Remote Subwoofer Control: The remote subwoofer control allow you to fine tune the bass from the driver's position. This is not a gain control, this is a level control. The level control will attenuate the amp or increase its output to the level of the gain setting. The control is helpful when adjusting bass output between different music sources and tracks.

Gain Control: The objective of the gain adjustment is to match the output of your receiver with the input of this amplifier giving you distortion free sound.

Lowpass Crossover: The built-in low-pass crossover offers continuously adjustable crossover frequencies between 40Hz and 200Hz. Adjust this setting according to your subwoofer's specification or to your listening preference.

Bass Boost: The amplifier is equipped with a bass boost control that allows you to select a boost level between 0db and +18dB at 40Hz to enhance the bass performance of your sound system.

Subsonic Filter: The fixed 30Hz sub sonic filter creates cleaner and tighter bass reproduction by protecting the amplifier and speaker from harmful ultra-low frequencies. You can set this filter to "On" or "Off".

Speaker Level Input: The amp comes with a speaker-level input harness. Once you splice the speaker wires from 2 channels of the receiver to the harness, you have plug-in convenience to the amplifier. This feature makes it easier to add an amplifier to a factory radio or a receiver with no preamp outputs.

Performance Certificate: MTX tests each amplifier, and the technician records the "actual" power output on the Thunder Amplifier Performance Certificate included with each amp. The amp must meet or exceed the rated specification in order to leave the factory.
