Mono subwoofer amplifier 1,000 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm
Our take on the MTX THUNDER1000.1 by Crutchfield's Buck Pomerantz
Upgrade your power for better sound
You'll get some serious MTX bass mojo when you put the THUNDER1000.1D mono amp in your car. This compact amp will drive your subwoofer setup with up to 1,000 watts RMS. Hook this amp up to a nice set of subs, and you'll hear sounds you've never heard before, even in your favorite songs.
MTX knows that your system changes over time, and this amp will adapt to almost any subwoofer situation. It'll send 350 watts to a single 4-ohm sub now, but it's capable of delivering up to an awesome 1,000 watts to a 1-ohm load, so you don't have to buy a new amp to handle a multiple sub setup later on. It's amazing to think that so much power comes from an amp that'll almost fit on a piece of computer paper. This little bruiser will truly fit in places where amps don't usually go.
Advanced tone control
You can adjust the low-pass filter and subsonic filter to get the best possible sound from your sub and enclosure. In the unlikely event you want to bump up the bass a little, you also have access to a selectable bass boost.

Awesome amp I have it powering 2 Polk MM1540svc with ease, In a mega cab it slams had a RF PRIME 1,200 previous and MTX sounds 1000 times better, lower frequency response and overall Slams way harder, in my opinion MTX knows how to make amps.

Overview: The MTX Thunder1000.1 is a mono Class D subwoofer amplifier. It has aluminum heatsinks to dissipate heat generated by the amplifier. The amp produces 350 watts RMS x 1 at 4Ω, 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2Ω, and 1000 watts RMS x 1 at 1Ω.
Gain: The amp's rotary gain control is continuously variable from 200mV to 5V to match the output of the source unit.
Protection Circuits: The Thunder1000.1 provides protection against overheating, under voltage, and electrical short circuits.
Crossovers: The amp features a built-in low-pass crossover, with a continuously variable cutoff frequency of 40-220Hz; the crossover cannot be bypassed. Additionally, the amp has a subsonic filter to remove ultra-low frequencies, thus minimizing wasted power and protecting speakers not capable of reproducing those frequencies. It has a variable crossover frequency of 20-50Hz.
Bass Boost: The Thunder1000.1's bass boost circuit is centered at 50 Hz. It can be set to 0dB, +6dB, or +12dB.
Electronic Bass Control (EBC): An Electronic Bass Control (EBC) module is available directly from MTX that allows you to adjust the bass output of the amplifier from the front of the vehicle.
Power Terminals: The Thunder1000.1 features set screw terminals for power, ground and remote turn-on. The power and ground terminals will accommodate up to 4 AWG wire, while the remote turn-on terminal will accept up to 10 AWG wire. The set screws are loosened/tightened with the supplied Allen wrenches. MTX recommends the use of 4 AWG power and ground wires.
Note: The Amplifier is not equipped with an internal fuse. An external 100-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If the system has only this amp and a wiring kit is used that includes a fuse with a value other than 100-amps, the original should be replaced with a 100-amp fuse.
Speaker Connections: The amplifier is equipped with two pair of set screw terminal speaker outputs. The outputs are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. Each terminal will accommodate up to 10 AWG bare wire and is loosened/tightened with the supplied Allen wrench.
EBC Port: The amp has a 3.5mm mini-jack for plugging in an optional Electronic Bass Control (EBC) module, currently available directly from MTX.

1 answer Dustin asked: I recently bought this amp (mtx thunder 1000.1) with a pair of lanzar optidrive 12 inch dvc's. I bridged the subs down to 2 ohms and then bridged them down again to the amp at 1 ohm. The subs are rated at 1100 watts at 2 ohm stable and 2200 watts peak. I am having issues with the amp overheating and going into protect mode in a very short time. I figured since this amp had a 1 ohm rating that bridging a pair of dvc's down to 1 ohm as well would hit hard and have a very clean sound to it as well. It does sound good however it doesn't hit as hard as I would like. Now I am debating buying a second mtx thunder 1000.1 amp and just running each sub to their own amp. I also have a 30 farad power acoustik capacitor and am running all 4 gauge wires. Is having everything at a 1 ohm rating what is causing my problem? Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.
