Overall my old stock speakers were better. these have no base and I can barely hear them.

Pros: They look cool

Cons: No base, poor sound quality.

Worth the money

Cons: Tweeter wire thinner than I would want but still sounds good.

I love them it gives me a good quality sound that is also loud and doesn't distort when I crank it! And Crutchfield of course made it easy to install it literally took me and my bud 15 minutes to instal.

Pros: Loud and clear easy instal.

Cons: Does require you to think outside the box because of the twitter but that's any component speakers

I was dazzled by the low price. I was equipping my work car so didn't want to spend a fortune. I should have just sprang for better ones. These are just OK. Nice highs but no bass.

Pros: High are nice and bright. Better than stock tweets in 05 Lesabre. This car is an oddball and hard to fit speakers to. These fit with mods to supplied brackets.

Cons: Weak bass. Stock woofers were better.

MTX Terminator Series 5 1/4" ookayyy but definitely entry level setup.

Here goes! ! :-? Bought this set with a certificate and bought a set of baffles to match. Skipped/destroyed one of the baffles because of novice niave installer (me) Pleasantly surprised at the feel and quality of the surround and woofer cone material. If it could handle a higher RMS signal would be helpful. Have 800hZ/4 ohm bass blockers and sound slightly above average sq at a moderate volume. Time will tell. Hope to try with a 4 channel amp and a higher quality custom component set in the rear deck and rear sails. I used these to upgrade from stock which i kept and are still decent quality for 10 yr old speakers. Truly I'm not trying to knock MTX but for the price what you see is what you get. Built in resistors on tweets (Lil bass blockers) in leui of a xover saves money yet fits the bill. If ya want high quality go spend top $ on Focal or similar brand. pita to work with the poor solder of the points where the spade connectors fit onto were. Just horrible-,-, But will maybe solder these connections. If I would have had the cash I would't have installed these myself. Bad timing, but 8/10 for the price range.

Pros: Reasonable quality in sound and build. Clean at 3/4 volume 50×4 watt deck properly setup with subs/amp in trunk. Would recommend though for economy.

Cons: Terrible soldering of terminals when sent to me. Will have to solder. MID-HIGH Between 500hz-4kHz if not shaped correctly sounds BAD at 75% volume.

A big improvement to my Mazda 3 factory component front door speakers. Great highs from the tweeters. Nice mids from the woofer. Easy to install thought the adapter plates needed a bit of tweeking to get right.

Pros: clean sound, easy install, low cost.

Cons: tweeter wires are a little flimsy but not really a big issue

Crisp and Clear

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good value at a great price. Just had to drill new mounting holes and splice in the connectors and my old Volvo Wagon has great sound from the Kenwood deck that I added as well. The bass is okay compared to stock radio standards, but I'll probably add a powered sub to round things out. The MTX speaker system was exactly what I was expecting and the sound is very clear.

great sound

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be flush mounted, surface mounted, or angle mounted. The angled mount is a semi-surface mount, because most of the housing sits above the mounting surface, but a small portion is counter sunk into the panel. The tweeter can pivot in the flush and surface mount housings.

Tweeter Dimensions:

Frame Width Frame Length Cutout Diameter Mounting Height Mounting Depth
Flush Mount 1.842" 1.842" 1.643" 0.113" 0.91"
Surface Mount 1.892" 1.892" N/A 0.87" 0.54" (Screw Depth)
Angled Mount 1.783" 2.11" 1.4" x 1" 1" 0.764" (Screw Depth)

Crossovers: The tweeter crossover is built into the tweeter casing. The woofer uses its natural mechanical frequency roll off.

Woofer Mounting Adapter: The included adapters can be used to mount the woofers in many 5x7 and 6x8 applications. There is also a knock-out on each bracket where the tweeter can be mounted.

Warranty: Although the speaker reviewed and measured (taken from our first shipment) included information indicating a 1 year warranty, MTX recently changed to a 5-Year Prorated Warranty with the following terms:

  • Years 1-2: Products found to be defective in materials or workmanship during the first two years will be, at Mitek's option, repaired or replaced by Mitek at no charge. The warranty period does not renew, but continues on from the original date of purchase.
  • Years 3-5: The purchase price of an item which becomes defective after the first two years and prior to the end of the warranty period will be prorated and credited toward the purchase of a new MTX product. The amount of proration is determined by dividing the original purchase price by the number of months in the warranty period (60), then multiplying the result by the number of months remaining in the warranty period.
