Our take on the MTX Amplified ThunderForms

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. With "rotational molding," MTX ensures that each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle. They're made of high-density polyethylene resin to curb resonances and deliver bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low. The enclosure is seamless and airtight, with the correct internal volume to yield optimum bass response from the subwoofers.

This molded MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with one premium-quality 10" Terminator subwoofer modified especially for amplified Thunderforms, and powered by a specially-designed 200-watt mono amp. It mounts behind the driver's seat of a standard cab 1996-04 Toyota Tacoma truck (with bench or bucket seats). There is no loss of leg room, but the factory jack arm must be relocated. Hardware is included.

Installation Note: When this ThunderForm is installed in a truck with bucket seats, the carpeted rear cover must be removed from the vehicle. This installation requires drilling an 11/64" hole in the cab wall.

Does not fit well at all

1999 Toyota Tacoma
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Performance of speaker was great. But I spent what I consider a Premium price for something properly engineered to fit my Truck. I put behind seat and right off the get got the seat latch on my bench seat jits the box when you try to put seat back. Had to bend latch to make fit. Of course that is after it scratched the plastic of the box. then it advertises how you lose no leg room. Sure enough I could indeed put the seat all the way back but when you sit in the seat it feels like you have a giant speaker box that does not fit pushing you in the back. Made seat extremely uncomfortable. I was hesitant to buy this since there was no review of the box. Wish I had listened to my little voice inside But on the other hand it does sound great and functions as a sub excellently. Maybe if you are a short legged person who moves the seat way forward it will be perfect. IMO it is not engineered properly for what it advertises to fit. And it is not $cheap.

Pros: Sounds Good

Cons: Does not fit well. Pushes into the back of the seat cushion for the driver
