Our take on the XTC 5"x7" Speaker Baffles

Waterproof foam baffles from XTC fit behind speakers to keep them clean and dry. They compress easily to fit the installation, and form a mounting seal that can reduce panel vibration. Use these speaker baffles along with a Dynamat kit when you install your new speakers, and you'll enjoy improved sound and performance.

These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. to make speakers sound better, less rattling in the door and to protect the speakers. [ Howard  Dec 14, 2016 ]
This speaker was advertised as a holiday deal and is said to fit my 1997 Ford Ranger. The existing speakers are 19 years old so I am hoping for some sound improvement. [ Chris  Nov 19, 2016 ]
I ordered 4 new speakers but only ordered one set of these baffles. I installed the speakers, 2 with baffles and the other 2 without. I feel the speakers with the baffles have a fuller sound than the others. I just ordered the other set of baffles! [ PAUL  Oct 18, 2016 ]
Brit recommend [ Gregory  Oct 04, 2016 ]
My radio is OEM. The speaker choice I made was OEM replacement. I have no additional amps, boosters, etc. So I decided to purchase the speaker baffles with the hope that they will enhance the mild-grade speaker performance and possibly extend the speaker life since the speakers will be subjected to rain, dirt, dust, etc. being mounted inside the door of my vehicle. I think the harsh environment is what brought the OEM speakers to their demise. [ Ryan  Sep 17, 2016 ]
To protect the speaks in the doors [ Kevin  Aug 30, 2016 ]
For optimal sound [ Michael  Aug 27, 2016 ]
Advised they would help with the sound quality in the back of my 97 F250. [ wontonz  Jul 12, 2016 ]
I've used them before and they work well when your front doors do not have sound proofing [ James W.  Jun 29, 2016 ]

Keep 'em dry, keep 'em clean [ Alex  Feb 14, 2016 ]
I may want to remove these speakers when the truck dies. Thought the speakers would be in better shape and would help the sound some. [ G  Jan 24, 2016 ]

I have used these before with very good success. These are a good investment for new speakers and if you cut a bit out of the lower portion to vent them, they will tighten up the sound from your speakers. [ L  Dec 24, 2015 ]
Sounds like a good idea to protect the investment of the speakers [ Glen  Dec 19, 2015 ]

I was advised to get these to help prevent door rattling and give the speakers a deeper, less metallic sound. [ Jeremy  Dec 09, 2015 ]

1 question already asked

I sandwiched the flat portion of the speaker baffle between the speaker flange and the door. I did have to make a small hole in the baffle for the wiring to pass through. [ JAMES  Mar 05, 2015 ]
Yes just use a Phillips screwdriver poke a small hole to thread the wires through. You can then use some silicone to seal the hole if you want to but it's not necessary [ CHRISTOPHER  Mar 04, 2015 ]
You need to cut off the bottom of the baffle so the speaker may resonate but leave everything else there [ SAMUEL  Mar 04, 2015 ]
Jose, depending on install yes that is the only thing you need to do. We installed these in my sons Ford Range both in the doors and behind the seeats. Doors were straight up poked small hole usong a soldering iron to run was res up, behind seat was a bit harder, had to shorten the length by cutting the hack off and sliding front over back and glue both parts using an adhesive chalk. Reason was behind seat had little depth. After install sounds were great. Truck had only door speaks and am/fm [ FRED W  Mar 04, 2015 ]
Yes and also for the screws. [ THOMAS  Mar 04, 2015 ]
Yes you do and you may want to cut a small hole in the bottom depending on what speaker you use. Ask a advisor at Crutchfield for advice. [ MARK  Mar 04, 2015 ]
