Our take on the Canon EVF-DC2

Keep your eye on the action

Canon's EVF-DC2 high-resolution electronic viewfinder can help you get your shot right in situations where composition on your camera's LCD screen isn't ideal. When you're out shooting in extremely bright sunlight or following moving subjects, using a viewfinder makes it easier to confirm focus. You can set your compatible Canon camera to switch automatically between the LCD screen and the EVF-DC2 via an eyepiece sensor or a dedicated button, and the viewfinder will display all of the shooting information you'd find on the LCD screen.

Product Highlights:

  • 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder mounts on hot shoe
  • compatible with select Canon cameras, including the EOS M3, EOS M6, PowerShot G3X, and G1X Mark II
    • firmware update required for models other than EOS M6
  • approximately 100% field of view
  • adjustable diopter

Excellent viewfinder

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love this viewfinder. I find myself not needing the viewfinder for close shots, but missed it for telephoto shots on my M6. Automatically switches between the lcd screen and the viewfinder, or set it to switch manually with a press of a button on the viewfinder (my preference). Crutchfield had this $30 less than the competition and shipped promptly. Will definitely be ordering from Crutchfield again!

I got the open box version and I recommend it 100% !

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This viewfinder has helped me to take better pictures, it was always hard to capture good angles and frames with just the display and when there is a lot of light. I brought it on a trip and it has been wonderful. I recommend it! I wasn't sure to buy this viewfinder because I thought that it was a better idea to get the camera EOS M50 (this one has a viewfinder included) but I went to try it to a physical store and its construction didn't look as good as the one as I have now (EOS M3) so I decided to keep this one and get the viewfinder. By the way, I had to update the firmware in my EOS M3 to be able to use the viewfinder with my camera (it was easy you just have to go to the canon website and you'll find the instructions and software to download it) because when I plugged in it didn't work so after the update it connected automatically.

Pros: - Easier to take pictures with a lot of light - Focus better frames - Automatic sensor to display the image in the viewfinder - It has a button to display image in the viewfinder - The color matches my camera

Cons: - It's very easy but the only con is that you have to update your firmware.

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

I cannot see the big screen of my canon m3 under the sun. I need to use the view finder to focus. [ PUI WA  Aug 10, 2018 ]
