Overview: The Sharp DK-A10 i-Elegance audio system
features a slot load CD player, an integrated iPod dock, side firing subwoofers that illuminate, an
AM/FM digital tuner and an alarm clock function with snooze, as well as an
auxiliary input for connecting an additional external audio source.
Note: The Sharp DK-A10 i-Elegance audio
system comes in either a glossy white or glossy back finish.
Speaker System: The i-Elegance CD player and music system for iPod
features two 2.5-inch, 12-ohm front firing full range speakers along with two
4-inch, 8-ohm side firing subwoofers with blue illumination for high fidelity
sound and deep low-end bass response. The front speakers are powered by a 2 watt
x 2 channel full-range amplifier, while the subwoofers are powered by a 5 watt x
2 channel sub-amplifier. The system features a combined frequency response of
30Hz to 20kHz at 10% T.H.D.
Equalizer: The i-Elegance CD player and music system for iPod
features an electronic equalizer that customizes the sound based on the music
genre. The electronic EQ has a 6-step mode that lets you set the perfect sound
for any type of music. You can select between Flat, Rock, Classical, Pop, Vocal
Esound Mode: The Esound feature is a digital signal
processing technology that improves the quality of compressed digital sound,
minimizing deterioration. The Esound mode corrects sound deterioration that
results from compression by enhancing the sound frequency spectrum as well as
increasing the sound pressure.
Integrated iPod Dock: The i-Elegance CD player and music system for iPod is
compatible with all generations of the Apple iPod incorporating a 30-pin
connector. Included with the electronic docking system are 8 dock insert adaptors that
guarantee a snug fit for your iPod. The i-Elegance docking system offers basic
control, playback and charging of your iPod simultaneously. Whenever your iPod
is connected to the docking system via the dock connecter, the iPod's battery
will charge. The unit is compatible with the following iPods specifically.
- iPod 1st generation nano: 2GB/4GB
(software 1.0 or above)
- iPod 2nd generation nano: 2GB/4GB/8GB
(dock adapter comes with iPod nano)
- iPod photo: 20GB/30GB/40GB/60GB
(software 1.0 or above)
- iPod mini: 4GB/6GB (software 1.2 or
- 5th generation iPod: 30GB/60GB/80GB

Note: The DK-A10 must be
plugged into an AC outlet and powered on for the unit to charge your iPod. Your iPod cannot be charged while the DK-A1 is in the stand-by
Video Output: The unit features a rear
panel composite video output so your iPod photo or 5th Generation iPod with
photo and video can be viewed by connecting the DK-A10 to your TV or monitor.
Auxiliary Input: If you have an iPod that
does not have a dock connector or another external audio source with an audio
output, you can connect them to the DK-A10 via an optional audio cable through
the unit's stereo RCA auxiliary input jacks.
Headphones: The iPod audio system and CD
a rear panel 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening. Plugging in a set of
headphones will mute the unit's internal speakers automatically.
CD Player: The DK-A10 features a single slot load
CD mechanism that plays standard audio CDs in addition to CD-R/RW discs with MP3
and WMA files. Music data from CD-R/RW discs will appear on the i-Elegance
display such as Song, Artist or Album name. The integrated CD player features
Random, Repeat and Program playback as well as track search and fast forward and
rewind functions. The CD player supports the following MP3 and WMA file formats
- MP3: MPEG 1 Layer 3, MPEG 2 Layer 3,
and VBR file formats, bitrate supported is 32-320 kbps
- WMA: bitrate supported is 64-160 kbps
Digital AM/FM Tuner: The DK-A10 i-Elegance music system
features a digital AM/FM tuner that lets you listen to your favorite radio
stations. You can program up to 40 of your favorite AM and FM radio stations.
The stations saved in memory can also be scanned automatically so you can easily
search through your 40 preset stations.
Display: The unit features an 10-character
digital fluorescent blue display for indicating source, station, clock, alarm
and audio settings. The side-firing subwoofers also illuminate blue. You can
control the unit's illumination by setting the subwoofers and display to
illuminate bright or dim. You can also turn the subwoofer illumination
Alarm Clock: The DK-A10 i-Elegance features an alarm
clock function that allows you to wake up to your favorite iPod selections,
AM/FM radio station, CD or a
buzzing alarm. The alarm will sound for approximately 30 minutes or until turned
off. The unit also features a snooze function which allows you to temporarily
stop the alarm for 5 minutes before it sounds again.
In addition to standard clock and alarm functions, you may also fall asleep to
music and both your iPod and i-Elegance system will automatically shut down at a
programmed time between 10 and 120 minutes.
Volume Auto Fade-In: If you turn off and
on the main unit with the volume set to 27 or higher, the volume starts at 16
and fades in to the last set level. The unit has a maximum volume of 30.
Power Supply: The unit operates only off
of AC power and comes supplied with a 6' detachable AC power cord. The system
does not operate off of batteries.
Memory Backup: The backup function
protects the memorized functions for a few days should there be a power failure
or the AC power cord becomes disconnected.
Remote Control: In addition to the unit's main top
controls and for added convenience, the i-Elegance CD player and music system for iPod
features a small, thin, compact IR remote that lets you control all the
functions of your i-Elegance CD player and music system. In addition, the remote controls some
of the features on your iPod as well - such a play, pause, track up/down, fast
forward/reverse, repeat or shuffle.
Note: The main unit can control the
same iPod functions as the remote. Your iPod will remain completely
functional for advance operation.
