The compact MD2 plugs right into a standard AC wall outlet, and has two AC outlets placed on the sides to allow space-saving connections. You can plug in a TV and Blu-ray player and keep your furniture close to the wall, or protect a couple small appliances on your kitchen counter. Helps me on my situation very much
I purchased this when we bought a new refrigerator to protect the integrated circuits inside the appliance from power surges. Since the appliance plugs into the side of the surge protector, there are no clearance issues. The product is well designed, comes with a terrific warranty (completely valid when purchased from Crutchfield, an authorized internet dealer), and provides piece of mind for a very fair price.
Pros: excellent build quality; warranty; fits in tight spaces
Save your equipment from harm with this inexpensive surge protector ! highly recommended ....
Offers quality surge protection behind my wall mounted TV. I would have liked a lower profile, but that is not a deal breaker. This is a solid choice.
Pros: Side power access.
Bought this after a lightening strike burnt out my polk 600 powered subwoofer, yes a big loss. Thanks to this device I learned the outlet I used was faulty. Now I have my new subwoofer attached to this, with piece of mind.
Pros: Simple to use
Cons: plugs are on it's side which may limit where you could use it, i.e. horizontally on an outlet close to the floor.
I bought it to add an extra layer of protection to a Bose system. Something good to have if something happened, but hopefully it will never be needed. Take it out of the box, plug it into an outlet (tells you if the outlet is properly grounded), plug in the one or two devices you want to protect, and you are done
Pros: Inexpensive protection. Easy to use. Great Crutchfield service behind it
Cons: None that come to mind
Here in Florida where we have a lighting storms nearly every night during the summer a surge protector is a great ideas. The Panamax I believe is one of the best.
Pros: Like the blue light on which lets me know the surge protector is working .
I like this surge protecor its work great
Pros: It was easy to connect my tv and ps4 to it
Referred by my contractor as well as another retailer, it looks stylish also while performing finest job :), hope it last longer and protect my projector..
Solid product. Compact design
Pros: Hides behind the TV
These are perfect for protecting your audio and video components. Very discreet looking and the blue lights are pretty cool to boot. I purchased 3 of these to hook up my Klipsch reference premier wireless system. I'm sure they're are cheaper protectors out there but I'm fine with the price.
Pros: Discreet .... Blue light is cool in the room.
Cons: Price is a bit high but you get what you pay for.
I haven't used it yet.
Pros: Not applicable at this time
Does a great job of filtering noise from stereo equipment !
Pros: Does as advertised !
Cons: Blue light bright in a dark room for movie watching
After a costly lightening strike destroyed farm equipment not plugged into Panamax surge protectors, the replacements are.
Good product! Serves the intended purpose.
I only needed 1-2 oulets for under my desk, and this is the perfect fit. I've owned Panamax products for many years and have experienced many lightning storms and power fluctuations, and never had a single issue with anything (so I guess they are working as they should). Didn't even look at any other brands - I trust Panamax.
Pros: Perfect Size
This item fits perfectly between the supports of my Sanus LT25-B1 wall mount and behind my 70" Vizio. Initially, I wanted to use a Panamax In-wall surge protector but my house wiring made it difficult, so I settled on this product. I was relieved when it fit perfectly behind the tv. Green function light is a nice touch.
Pros: Great size, nice green running light.
Cons: None so far.
Quick Easy Power protection. Purchased this to protect my Receiver and components in the Garage. Next day we had a power surge and all was well! Great Item
Pros: Small, side plugs and bang for the buck!
Works great for my application. limited room. Fit behind console and able to slide console tight to the wall
Works as advertised. It's a nice low profile unit that holds itself into the outlet. You can remove and paint the outside over - which is a nice feature - but it would be really nice if they offered it in black. (like most theater room ceilings are painted)
Pros: Works as advertized.
Cons: Wish it came in black. (without having to paint)
The weight of the surge protector makes it at least seem as if you are paying for some protective circuitry. Slim profile fits well against the wall behind a book case with side mounted outlets allowing cords to come out through the sides. Having never had issues with surges in the past, I can't say if the pricey cost of this for only two protected outlets is justified. It would be nice if the unit had 4 outlets, which it looks like there's space for.
Pros: Good sleek profile fits along walls well and behind furniture.
Cons: Only two outlets, price.
Super surge protector, compact, two outlet, does it's job in a stellar manner! Must Have!
I purchased quite a few of these individual outlet surge suppressors for equipment. I am very happy with the Panamax brand and can feel safe and comfortable knowing that these suppressors will do their job in protecting my equipment. I learned the hard way by losing over $5,000 worth of equipment due to severe lightning strikes. The equipment I lost was all the equipment I never had surge suppressors on, so take my loss as a lesson, and get protected, ESPECIALLY if you life in Florida... the lightning capital of the world. I am also very happy with the service I received from Crutchfield. HIGHLY recommended.

I bought to protect my subwoofer because it stands alone and far from my power conditioner. I currently have a dedicated surge protector for it but the surge protector is bulky and take too much room. This "plug into outlet surge protector" seems like a good idea for protecting just one or two items. [ menatwork Jan 22, 2017 ]

Looking for protection and interference protection for my new tv. [ Dominick Dec 29, 2015 ]
The MD2 is designed to plug into an outlet which is flush to the wall. If you were able to mount the MD2 into a recessed box, you would have difficulty plugging devices into the MD2 as the outlets are on the edge and not the front face. You may have to move your tv out from the wall a little bit. You could almost place the tv against the front of the MD2 as the outlets are on the side. Another possibility is to move your tv a couple of inches left or right if that would provide clearance to play your tv closer to the wall. If you plug your tv into the outlet directly behind the tv, the plug itself will require you space tv away from the wall an inch or more. The thickness of the MD2 might not require you to move the tv that much further out since the outlets on the MD2 are on the side. If you have a duplex outlet on the wall, use the outlet where the MD2 doesn't cover up the other one, so you can still use both wall outlets. [ LAWRENCE G Dec 29, 2016 ]
No. But you can buy an ground fault interrupter. It serves the same purpose. It replaces the existing outlet. [ theodore Dec 27, 2016 ]
I use this specifically for my Epson pro 6020 projector. It has been in place for two years and 2 power outages. Can I see an improved picture, hard to say over my monster cable that was previously installed. I use this in all my theater installs. [ Robert Mar 04, 2016 ]
I have been very happy with it. I have my iMac plugged into it. I have a bunch of the Panamax big distribution boxes on each on my tv/receivers which I am also very happy with. The audio company that installed our surround sound said that Panamax is one of the best on the market. [ Michael Mar 04, 2016 ]
I have had mine feed my receiver and it has been happily noise free. I have to assume it would work as well in a home theater application. Brian [ BRIAN Jan 20, 2015 ]
Not sure if it will help with interference. I use mine behind my wall mounted television. [ PHILIP Jan 20, 2015 ]
I don't see why it wouldn't, as long as your fridge pulls 15A or less. You should probably ask Panamax your question directly, because they're the only ones that will be able to speak definitively about what this is rated for. Also, I'd read the both the manual for your refrigerator and the one for the surge protector carefully before relying on it. Your fridge's manual may say something about being plugged directly into a receptacle, and I don't think this would count (if the event you were challenged during a warranty claim). If you're that worried about surge protection for your fridge, you should probably install a receptacle or a surge breaker for the circuit your fridge is connected to. [ Todd Nov 14, 2014 ]
It will act as a surge protector for any electronic device. However this item is more or less intended to be used in sensitive electronics such as a/v equipment where interference can diminish your experience. [ KYLE J Nov 14, 2014 ]
