Pros: Cost effective means to protect ones investments.

Cons: None

Great little GFCI

Great product if you want gfci protection but can't have a standalone unit. Was a direct swap for the standard outlet that was behind my wall mounted flat panel. Crutchfield is amazing.

Pros: Small

Cons:

Great Electrical Protection

C2Seas from Chatham, MA on 5/10/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although it has not been called to duty, the specs on this unit are very good considering its size. It is a bit of work to get it into a standard electrical box, but it does fit if you size the excess wires correctly. I'm going to use this on the rest of my wall mounted electronics.

Pros: Perfect for behind wall mounted electronics. Has very strong electrical protection ratings and helps hide wires behind the wall mounts.

Cons: Like other reviewers, this is a tight fit. The key is to cut wires to the size you need and then fit into the box. It would be easier if it had screws rather than wire nuts for connections.

This outlet provides better protection (clamping voltage and joules protection) than any others i have found. Plus Panamax stands by their products.

Sleek Surge Protection

ColBurke from spring, TX on 3/25/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought two of the in wall surge protectors for places I wanted protection without having a strip surge protector. I knew from the other review it was going to be a tight fit for standard electrical blue boxes but I figured I would try anyway. The first installation took a while but I managed to get all wires crammed in and working, even with the outlet being a pass through. The second installation went much faster because I knew the length of wire i needed to get everything to fit well. Can't say much about the surge function yet, but if it does what it says I should be good.

Pros: Sleek Design. Straight forward install. Power indicating light

Cons: Hard to fit in normal blue Electrical box, but can be done.

outlet surge protector

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Powered up as it should with the green indicator. I cannot say anything about the protection as no surge yet but I own other panamax surge protection products and they perform well. It does require a larger electrical box to fit properly.

Pros: In wall surge protection. Works great for a clean looking install for wall mounted tv.

Cons: large size may not work for every installation

Surge Outlet for TV

Carl from Worcester, MA on 5/20/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Looks to to what it is needed for. Could not give it five stars as it does not fit in a standard box.

Pros: Great for wall mount TV's

Cons: Need to make sure it will fit in the outlet box.

Great design, but too deep to use.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love the design and the idea behind it. Would certainly be great for reducing the amount of space used behind your tv. Also great for hiding wiring! I can't give it a bad review because, in my particular situation, the box was too crowded and my existing wiring was too stiff to attach to outlet and fit this in the box. I wish I could use it, but I'll have to settle for the plug in surge protector.

Pros: Great design, good look

Cons: Pretty deep

Bought a new flat screen TV and wanted the extra protection. This one has more surge protection ability than others I studied.

Pros: Ability to deflect large surge

Cons: Need a pretty large size box to install it.

Panamax MIW-Surge-1g

Nelson from Bella Vista, AR on 12/25/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased 5 of these units. 4 we put these in a bedroom that we changed into a hobby room with a murphy bed. We needed extra plugs so we changed two sets of one plug outlets to two plug outlets side by side and were able to keep the cords off the floors without adding surge protectors that just lay on floor to protect our TV and other equipment. The other outlet we put in wall for the master TV and we able to remove the surge protector that we had laying on shelve.

Pros: If these work as said no other type surge protectors will be needed. Which keeps it very clean looking. Very easy to install do need some basic electric handyman type skills.

Cons: Pricey but a good floor surge protector is pricey but a good value to protect your equipment!

Just what I needed.

Great way to avoid having a power cord hanging down the wall from your flat screen TV. I would advise that you use a larger 18 cu. in. wall box for mounting as it pretty much fills up a standard size box.

Why did you buy this?

A few weeks ago I had an extended call with Artie who made me aware that such a product exists. It will allow us to keep our wall mounted TV protected without having to deal with a power strip so the installation will be cleaner.[ Allison  Jul 21, 2017 ]

Number 1 it is a Panamax product and number 2, I like its combination surge and disconnect functions. I also like its over/under voltage protection. Most people do not know that surge protectors do not protect your equipment from short and long term voltage issues.[ Stephen D.  Sep 18, 2016 ]

Figured since I need to move the outlet anyway, why not up the protection level while I'm at it.[ Christopher  Apr 15, 2016 ]

2 questions already asked

I believe you can use this outside as long as there is no direct water contact Plus he's a protective cover[ Parker  Aug 22, 2017 ]
Hi Michael, I'm unaware of any temperature limits such as extremely hot or cold climates. My only advice on outdoor use would be to enclose the surge protector in an outdoor junction box for protection from the elements. Examples of enclosures would be 1) Taymac MM510C Weatherproof Single Outlet Cover Outdoor Receptacle Protector, used when the appliance is plugged in; and 2) Hubble-Bell MX1050S outlet cover which is closed when the appliance is not in use and unplugged. Also make sure the ground wire functions correctly. Polarity and ground testers are inexpensive and found at hardware stores. Hope this helps. Tom[ Thomas E.  Aug 21, 2017 ]
In no way, shape, or form should this be used outdoors or around any water whatsoever. This is a surge protector, NOT a ground fault device.[ Jim  Aug 21, 2017 ]
No I would not use this outdoors. I'd get a ground fault interruptor outlet made for outdoor use. [ GRank  Aug 21, 2017 ]
Outdoor sockets need to be GFCI. This is not a GFCI receptacle. If you wish to use it outdoors, you will need to also change the breaker on that circuit to a GFCI breaker.[ Adam  Aug 21, 2017 ]
Good question. My guess is that would depend on the size of the surge.[ Michael  May 29, 2017 ]
