It's the job of Samsung's UN40EH5300 to entertain you and it takes that job seriously. In addition to its crisp, clear 1080p picture, this handsome model includes a suite of Internet apps custom-built for TV use. Built-in Wi-Fi® connects effortlessly to your home's wireless network so you can surf the web or stream content from your computer, smartphone or tablet.
Samsung's latest Smart TVs give you new ways to access your favorite shows, movies, games and more, on the web and elsewhere. You'll find content providers like Netflix®, Hulu Plus, ESPN ScoreCenter, and more. A full web browser is included for convenient searching. And Samsung upgraded their AllShare networking feature so you can access your content from the cloud and even control other compatible devices.
The two most essential connections for today's video sources and digital devices are HDMI and USB. High-definition components like cable and satellite TV receivers look and sound their best via HDMI, and so do a growing number of digital cameras and camcorders. And the USB ports let you plug in a wide array of devices like that thumb drive with your favorite photos and music.
Very pleased with the purchase.

Average Customer Review(s):
Very pleased with the purchase.
The Samsung 42" 5300 is everything I expected. Shipping was fast, tech guys were super
This TV was damaged in shipment, so I had to return it. It took only one phone call to a very friendly person at Crutchfield to have it picked up, at no charge, and a new one was shippid the same day! P.S. I had to use the star rating, even though it does not apply in this case.
The TV is great. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The picture is very sharp and after some tweaking the colors are great too (the Eco Setting is pretty useless. It's really dim and washed out). The online features work great too. I would definitely buy this TV again from Crutchfield. Their customer service is great and 1 day standard delivery to the Philadelphia area is hard to beat!
exellent tv crutchfield exeeds expectations definitly recomended that samsung screen is amazing not to mention super easy to set up the apps you should get one of these
Pros: simple to set up very light weight exellent screen
Black Friday/cyber Monday deal for $449 and free shipping. Just traded up from our old 19" huge box TV which we've had for 22 years! Wow, what a difference! We weren't sure what size to get as we are in a 15'X 19' lounge/dining room combo New York City micro apartment, but this is perfect! Color, sound, and remote are great, haven't watched any of the movie stations, DVD works easily, and aesthetically, it is sooooo beautiful and streamlined. Hope it will last as long as the last TV and not become redundant too soon.Young friend set it up for us and it didn't seem to take very long. We also get more stations than we did before just from hooking up to the cable cord that comes out of the wall (we are too cheap to have cable TV!) Thank you Crutchfields. All from the comfort of my home and I didn't have to wait out in the cold with the Black Friday crazy people! :)
excellent tv. screen resolution is very sharp, vibrant and crisp and smart tv features work excellent
Samsung didn't let me down! I was hesitant to make such a big purchase online, but after reading the reviews and the black friday prices...I went for it. This TV is exactly what I expected and am extremely satisfied.
Pros: Wifi, energy efficient, easy setup, decent speakers, and slim profile.
Cons: Apps stream slowly and constantly are buffering.
So Far So Good......
I luv this tv . Great price so many uses.
I wasn't sure what to think with the true refresh rate at 60 Hz (but Samsung covering it up with its own terminology of refresh rate). But the specs, price, and other customer reviews left me feeling that it would be a winner. After 3 weeks, I'm not the least bit disappointed. Whatever Samsung is doing inside the TV to make action/sports look good is fine with me. I've watched all sorts of programming on this model and it's all great. I've used several apps (Pandora, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Blockbuster, several others) and they were easy to set-up and use. This smart TV "boots up" faster than a comparable Vizio smart TV that we have, and the interface is easier. Just wish I had a wireless keyboard like the Vizio remote has. I won't use the "web browser" on this TV. Not with a TV remote!
Pros: Quality of picture on high-action scenes great for TV's price point; Apps and interface more refined than others I've seen; fast boot time; hard-to-find TV on/off timers (several!) on this set.
Cons: No QWERTY keyboard on remote like Vizo smart TV; no analog audio out (only digital); stand is a bit flimsy and screws used to attach it to TV could be bigger to add stability
This TV is almost perfect. Picture is great and sound is what I thought it would be for this type of TV. Actually I was planning to get a soundbar but for it. But really not needed unless you are going to watch alot of action and explosive type movies. This one is for our bedroom. As such I'm surprised no sleep timer on remote. Which is why I said almost perfect. It has a sleep timer but in a menu. Luckily I have another Samsung remote from a 20" TV and the sleep function works on this TV. Haven't used the smart features yet but everything connected really fast to our internet and updated just fine. Plan to explore all the apps soon. Right now just enjoying the beautiful picture!
Pros: Great picture. Good sound. Nice looking. Starts up fast. Has Netfix, Youtube, etc. Easy set up.
Cons: No sleep button on remote.
I am Very pleased with this TV. Picture quality is excellent, No complaints on sound quality or volume and I must say the interface is quite smooth and has the most pleasant menu sounds I've ever come across on any TV. My only gripe is with Samsung's misleading advertising. FYI Wifi Ready doesn't mean it has an integrated wireless adapter, it means that its compatible with any Samsung Wifi adaptor (Sold Separately.) I bought one so not a major complaint, but please be advises it does NOT come with Wifi adapter.
Cons: Samsung's Advertising
Great picture. That's what we bought it for. Not interested in the add-ons. Super price and shipping from Crutchfields. Our second Samsung from Crutchfields.
Pros: Picture quality
If you are not a big sports enthusiast or don't need a fast refresh rate this set might be for you. It is a great secondary set, I am using it in the basement for an occasional movie and for our guest. Easy wifi set up, vibrant color and a bargain from Crutchfeild it's a no brainier.
Pros: Vibrant color, easy of use, easy wifi setup, great price
Cons: Cheap and flimsy remote
I absolutely love my TV its gorgeous. The price was lower than all competitors, and excellent customer service.
great tv for great price, fast delivery
We bought this HDTV on Thanksgiving and appreciate the prompt delivery of crutchfield. Till now we have watched few HD movies and seen a couple of TV serials. It looks amazing. We have tested most of its features like HDMI connection, internet connectivity, USB connection and they all seem to be working fine except one - it didn't detect my 1TB USB hard-drive but it detects 8 GB USB drive.I don't know if this is its default behavior or the piece has some issue.. need to check.. Except this, this product meets all our expectations.
Pros: Picture Quality Samsung Apps Remote Control through my Galaxy Tab
Cons: Portable hard drive is not detected
The capabilities are there but entering data with the remote letter by letter makes them useless. No option for a keyboard. Crutchfield should have this posted on website or at least a credit for my dissatisfaction....attaching an iPad/laptop is a better option for less $.
Great TV. Picture is very sharp with deep blacks. Wifi has good range.
Its a great TV with lots of connect ability. Picture is sharp and exciting. Refresh rate is OK for the programs we watch- mostly Public Broadcasting TV
Pros: Great picture, lots of connect ability.
Cons: The Smart part of Netflix etc is redundant with other equipment I have. The Android apps are OK -but I have equal ones on my Apple TV
It is a great tv and a great price. I am thinking about getting another one. Slim profile and a great picture.
Just an amazing picture, this is not "edge lit" LEDs, it uses direct array LEDs, much superior (ohh the blacks) and uses way less electricity, $7/yr if left on for 5 hours a day/365. The direct array does make this set thicker than the razor's edge lit models. Wireless internet out of the box with a "limited" edition Safari browser. No Amazon Video app which doesn't bother me at all. Samsung also updates and adds new apps quite a bit. Crutchfield set me a version TH01. It came preloaded with zero apps which is great, add what you want. I got a ver HH02 from a different vendor, it came preloaded with 18 apps and they all want to update when you turn it on. I also noticed different default settings on these 2 versions. I favor the TH01 from Crutchfield. Also funny that the floor model at the other vendor was a TH01 but the ones in stock were all HH02. And I can carry it under my arm as the panel weighs only 20lbs, 24 with the stand (approx).
Pros: Great if you get the right version which I got from Crutchfield, I got the "incorrect" version at another retailer. Deep blacks, viewing angle is just not a problem. The speakers use more watts than the panel.
Cons: could be cheaper, no wall mounts included
Well I have this television for a little more than 2 months. I did adequate amount of research before settling down finally for this TV set. Let me tell you my experience with this. This TV has a pretty nice picture quality much like other LEDs clear and crispy, I have to make some specific settings for a clear picture (like use Dynamic mode instead of Standard for Blueray and HD material) and set the contrast and brightness to the right value. It starts and shuts off within no time, user friendly remote, easy to operate. All the set up was easy and you can quickly configure your dish satellite set top box or Roku. It has various internet apps which are easily accessible through its smart TV feature but mostly I use Youtube, Netflix and Skype very handy. If you buy a Samsung camera you can actually do a family video chat sitting on your couch through Skype. It provides good connectivity 3 HDMI port and 2 USB. You can connect an AV cable as well. The best part it it can read my 1TB external USB WD passport hard drive, really amazing. I have see many of Sony and LG tvs failing to read even 8gb of USB drive so that is definitely significant. I guess these are enough qualities to count on a considerable lesser price. Now under $600.
Pros: 1) User friendly 2) Built in wi-fi, very easy to connect. No need to keep you TV near modem and router. You can place it where ever you want. 3) Good picture quality, natural output.
Cons: 1) If you are too freak about the loud surround sound and high voice quality then probably this LED is not for you unless you have an external sound system. I will say that sound is ordinary with the sleek size its difficult to provide big speaks. However sound is clear and good enough for a 10-14 feet living room and also you can connect audio system to the Audio out port available at the back of the TV. I am using same and have connected Klipsch subwoofer and speaker set.
We now own a Samsung laptop, a Samsung DVD player, and 2 Samsung flatscreen TV's. Evidently we like Samsung. We bought all these products based on consumer ratings, price, function and features. We've had the 40" flatscreen for about 2 weeks. The picture quality and the sound are excellent. It took about 5 minutes to set up and connect to our wireless router. What's not to like?
Pros: Great picture, great sound, easy to set up, good price.
Cons: The stand makes the TV sit slightly tilted back, which someone might not prefer.
Great picture and good feature set.
Pros: Picture quality and color depth.
Cons: Only one combined composite/component input. If you have a HDMI audio/video receiver capable of video conversion then that is great. If you have an older receiver, that can not switch composite in to component out and you have any components with only s-video or composite out then you are stuck with using the component in on the TV as AV/Composite. No S-Video in.
I did considerable searching both online and at retail stores. For less half the money of the 32" flat LCD that my purchase replaced, I have a 40' smart LED / LCD --- that provides a great picture --- while fitting in the same space as my old LCD.
Pros: Just about everything: size, clarity, ease of set-up, prompt delivery and solid customer service.
Cons: I wish the sound outputs allowed for easy, inexpensive, add-on speakers.
great led screen nice sound
Pros: all outstanding
Cons: none yet

Direct-Lit LED Technology: Direct-Lit LED backlight technology bridges the gap between lower-cost CCFL (fluorescent) LCD TVs and newer edge-lit LED-LCD TVs. Samsung's Direct-Lit LED-LCD televisions feature LEDs positioned all the way across the LCD panel's back plane (instead of along the side). Unlike "Full-Array" backlight LED-LCD televisions that also feature LEDs positioned along the LCD panel's back plane, the Direct-Lit LED technology uses fewer LEDs and do not offer local dimming. Since there are fewer LEDs, the LCD panel's back plane must be moved farther away from the screen to provide adequate light coverage across the LCD panel, making the TV much deeper than an edge-lit LED-LCD television. Direct-Lit LED backlight technology offers a better picture and is more energy efficient than previous CCFL (fluorescent) LCD televisions, though it requires a much larger cabinet design than newer edge-lit LED-LCD TVs.
Clear Motion Rate 120: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate (60Hz), image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.
LED Motion Plus: This function removes drag from fast scenes with a lot of movement to provide a clear picture.
Motion Lighting: The TV automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the screen brightens. In dim light, the screen dims.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus: Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended. Witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.
3,500,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio: The LED-LCD TV delivers a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 3,500,000:1; which provides stunning colors and deep black, so your picture's details don't get lost in the shadows.
HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.
1080p Resolution: The LED-LCD television displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.
Screen Sizes: You can choose one of the following screen sizes.
Note: Screen Size settings can be stored for each external device you have connected to an input of the TV.
Picture Control: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture.
Note: You can adjust and store Picture Settings for each external device connected to the TV.
HDMI Black Level: You can select the black level on the screen to adjust the screen depth when you have a component connected via HDMI to the television. You can select either Normal or Low.
Noise Filtration: The Samsung TV provides digital noise and MPEG noise filtration.
BD Wise: BD Wise provides the optimal picture quality for Samsung DVD, Blu-ray, and Home Theater products which support BD Wise. When BD Wise is set to On, the TV's picture mode is automatically changed to the optimal resolution.
Film Mode: The TV can be set to automatically sense and process film signals from all sources and adjust the picture from optimum quality. Film mode is supported in TV, AV, Component (480i/1080i), and HDMI (480i/1080i).
Game Mode: When connecting the television to a game console, you can enjoy a more realistic gaming experience when selecting Game Mode.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture): You can watch the TV's tuner and one external video source simultaneously. The TV channel will be displayed in a sub-screen which can be moved to each corner of the television's screen. You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.
|Main Picture||Sub Picture|
|External Input: Component or HDMI||TV: Antenna input|
Note: PIP does not function in the same mode.
SRS TruSurround HD: SRS TruSurround HD is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including the internal television speakers. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats.
SRS TruDialog: This function allows you to increase the intensity of voices over background music or sound effects so that dialog can be heard more clearly.
Sound Modes: You can choose from the following Preset Sound Modes:
Equalizer: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 5-band EQ (100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz) for a more customized sound.
Auto Volume: Auto Volume automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.
Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
Picture Off: You can turn the television's screen off and still listen to audio.
Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output.
Network Connection (wired/wireless): You can set up the Samsung LED-LCD TV so that it can access your home network and online Samsung Apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; PBC (WPS), Auto Network Search, One Foot, or Manually.
Note: The TV's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP/AES) network security.
WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung LED-LCD TVwithout connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.
AllShare/DLNA Certified: The Samsung LED-LCD TV's AllShare function, along with its DLNA Certification allow you to watch videos (DIVX/MPEG/H.264/WMV), photos (JPEG/PNG/BMP/MPO)), and listen to music (MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC/OGG) saved on your Windows PC (or other DLNA Certified media server) through the TV via its Ethernet (LAN) port or built-in WiFi (wireless). This eliminates the need to copy your photo, video, and music files to a separate USB storage device.
Note: Windows PCs with XP and Vista installed require Samsung's PC Share Manager software, which can be downloaded for free at www.samsung.com. Not compatible with older Windows OS versions and Mac.
