More ways to connect to your digital entertainment

There are two types of connections you want your new TV to have plenty of: HDMI and USB. The UN50H6350 has four HDMI inputs, which will allow your Blu-ray player, and high-def cable or satellite TV receiver to look and sound their best — not to mention a growing number of digital cameras and camcorders, too. And the USB inputs let you plug in a wide array of devices — everything from a thumb drive to an optional webcam that enables cool features like gesture control and Skype™ video calls.

The best kind of Smart TV — it will make you feel smart, too

The UN50H6350 makes finding great things to watch easier. Samsung's innovative Smart Hub organizes your favorite entertainment into five simple panels: On-TV, Movies and Shows, Social, Apps, and a panel for your personal photos, videos and music. If your PC is networked you can even search through the video and music you've stored on it using the TV's remote. This set's built-in Wi-Fi® makes it easy to seamlessly connect to your wireless network.

Web functions are powered by Samsung's quad core processor, which provides fluid browsing and content streaming, and rapid switching between apps. There's also a really cool screen mirroring feature that turns your compatible smartphone, tablet or computer into a second TV screen. Whatever is playing on the UN50H6350's screen is streamed via Wi-Fi to your mobile device as well. So now you can watch your favorite movies, sports, and shows all around the house, and you'll never miss a moment.

Very Happy

Scott from Massachusetts on 2/10/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very happy with both the TV and Crutchfield.. TV was delivered on time and in excellent condition. I did have some concerns when I first turned it on because the picture wasn't a nice as I thought it would be. Turned out the default "standard" mode is probably more of an energy saver.. Changed it to "movie" mode and it is much better. Also, I was noticing some issues with some channels where people moving around on the screen didnt flow very well. Jittery. After looking at some reviews I turned off "auto motion plus". Now all is well.

Pros: Very nice TV for the price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Over all great purchase! I did a ton of research on 50" smart tv's and I made an excellent choice going with the Samsung!

Pros: Great picture quality, easy to navigate between cable and smart tv, I love the set-up, there was little adjustment I had to make to picture quality when I bought this.

Cons: It is pricy, but it is very worth every penny.

We like this TV.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm really liking this TV. It small bezel and SmartTV features are just icing on the cake. The picture is great. My last TV would frequently look bad when sunlight came in through the living room window, but this TV always looks good. My one complaint is that out of the box, skin tones look washed out. I'm confident that I can adjust the picture settings to fix this, I simply haven't gotten around to doing so.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When making a major purchase which this was for me, I try to do my homework. I ask lots of questions and read up on the item. It ended up being between this tv and another brand. The tvs were very close in comparisons but the Samsung was on sale so that is what I bought. I was a little concerned about hooking everything up. I couldn't get over how easy it was. The picture is great. The color is perfect. I like everything about it. Ease of use, etc. My neighbors are still talking about how great the picture is. I am very pleased with this tv.

Pros: Great picture, ease of use, easy hook up

Cons: I can't find anything bad to say about it. I would buy another one.

I've been wanting to purchase a tv for quite a while to go along with my ps4 and this site was recommended to me by a friend. At first I was skeptical. The shipping and delivery was prompt and the cost of the tv was a must have deal. My 50 inch Samsung television was delivered with much care and the packaging was well intact. I look forward to buying many different electronics from Crutchfield since I was so happy with the outcome.

Pros: Prompt delivery

Cons: No cons

Picture is very vibrant yet warm and easy on the eyes. Sound is good but I will get a sound bar. Ease of setup and the Smart features didn't out smart me.

Pros: Performs as advertised and was very easy to set up.

Cons: Sound not as robust as I would like.

Amazing picture for the price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

im using this TV as the work horse in the house. Basic TV viewing, kids video game playing, news viewing and the occasional movie. It does it all with ease while providing an excellent picture. I even find myself using the built in speakers instead of the receiver most of the time, they're more than adequate for most of what we use it for. Overall a great TV at a great price and a great buying experience. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that I do prefer my plasma TV's picture over LED's.

Pros: Picture and price

Cons: Really nothing to knock here, Samsung makes a great TV.

Nimrod Proof

Mark K from Charlottesville, Va on 12/14/2014

This TV is so easy that even a Nimrod like me can set it up! With the advance help of the sales staff and simple instructions associated with the TV, I was able to connect to Direct TV and the receiver without any challenges(that normally accompany my every attempt at technology). The on screen prompts told me precisely what to do and how. And the picture quality, simply WOW!

Pros: Superior picture and sound quality. Light weight and easy to maneuver even in tight spaces. This unit replaced an 8 year old Sony bought from Crutchfield that I thought had a good to great picture. Almost no comparison now to this new TV. Worth the money at twice the price.

Cons: Needs a digital cable if you are connecting to a sound system.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My first tv of this model quit playing sound after two hours. I called Crutchfield and explained, they sent a replacement and picked the old one up. You can't beat that kind of service!

Pros: This TV is easy to set up, works with my cable box, has good sound, and best of all, a wonderful picture. I am glad I bought a Samsung!

Cons: Not sure why the sound quit on the earlier model but I would suggest buying at Crutchfield or buy a protection plan for any item you have paid a lot of money for.

Fantastic, especially for a guy coming off of an old 35" SONY crt tv! Piece of cake to set up, multiple HDMI inputs are incredibly useful. I've only scratched the surface of the capabilities of this, but I am 100% pleased with it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Same rating and rationale as my 75" review. Picture great, but auto adjust is annoying. I realize it's intended benefits, but it shouldn't keep adjusting during 30-60 minute watching period.

Pros: Great, clear picture & contrast.

Cons: Auto adjusting for room lighting. I can understand daytime vs. nighttime, but not constantly during one period of 30-60 minutes watching sports in afternoon.

Excellent picture quality, easy setup with clear instructions, access to Netflix and other options built in.

Pros: Clear, detailed picture, easy setup, access to Netflix, Hulu and other apps.

Cons: The screws mounting the TV bracket to the stand bracket were too short and two of the four pulled out. Easily corrected with two machine screws with nuts and lock washers.

Hans from San Jose, CA on 4/29/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not being an early adopter, this is my first LCD / big screen / HDTV. Although I am professionally involved in TV news field transmission, including HD video, I am not a videophile, nor particularly demanding when it comes to home viewing. My main concern from work experience using a smaller HD test monitor was whether SD video, i.e. standard cable or DVD sources, would appear blurry, noisy, etc. To my pleasant surprise, video from those sources, even before using HDMI cables, which hadn't arrived until a week after the TV, looked quite good via antenna and composite connections, even from fairly close to the screen. No, not as good as HD video, but perfectly acceptable to me: clean, fairly sharp, detailed. HD from Blu-ray via HDMI, on the other hand, is what justifies having a 50 inch screen in a smallish living room. It is stunningly rich and vivid, and some scenes exhibit a depth that make a 2D source (that's all I have) seem, well, maybe not 3D, but more than the flat images to which I'm accustomed. It's only been a couple of weeks since setting it up, but so far the experience has been very satisfying. I've not bothered tweaking the factory settings much, except turning off the feature which adjusts the brightness based on room illumination; I found the result to be too dark for my taste. Other than that, the defaults are quite acceptable. Setup was easy. The TV connected to my wifi without problem, and has already updated itself. I would buy this set again.

Pros: Multiple HDMI inputs Great picture Simple basic operation Competitively priced Made in Mexico

Cons: Base is pretty small Signal connectors are all on the far right side

LED Edge-Lighting: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology allows for a high dynamic contrast ratio and ultra-sharp blacks by allowing multiple LEDs to turn on an off automatically based on the image. LED Edge-Lighting also provides more natural color representation and deep reds and greens, because Samsung uses white LEDs that produce 105% of the broadcast color gamut. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness. Overall, this LED Backlight system produces contrast with stronger blacks and whites, and greater subtlety of every gradation in between.

Clear Motion Rate 240: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.

  • Panel Refresh Rate (Hz): Samsung's screen refresh rate (120Hz) significantly improves motion detail and resolution by sampling the image more frequently, leading to smoother, more fluid movement.
  • Image Processor (Auto Motion Plus): Samsung's proprietary Auto Motion Plus image processing technology is faster and more responsive than conventional image processors, as it interpolates intermediate frames to smooth out the image.
  • LED Backlight Technology: Samsung's Edge-Lighting Backlight technology regulates output precisely in synchronization with the screen refresh to lessen the time it is lit, reducing ghosting and motion blur.

Auto Motion Plus: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus  reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, or Off.

Wide Color Enhancer Plus + Motion Lighting: With Wide Color Enhancer Plus, you'll witness a wider spectrum of colors on the TV screen, just like the director intended. You'll enjoy enriched colors while watching your favorite movies, and shows, even if it's older, non-HD content. The TV automatically adjust the brightness of the screen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the screen brightens. In dim light, the screen dims.

1080p Resolution: The LED-LCD television displays all inputs at a resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080). The television's HDMI and component video inputs will accept 1080p (24/60Hz), 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i video signals.

  • HDMI (v.1.4): The Samsung H6350 series LED-LCD TV features four HDMI 1.4 inputs. In addition, any HDMI input can be used to connect a PC to this TV.
  • Component Video: The Samsung H6350 series LED-LCD TV features a single component video input. The TV's component video input can also be used as a composite video input (480i only).
Note: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners with an RF-coaxial input, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.

Picture Control: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture.

  • Picture Sizes: You can choose one of the following screen sizes.
    • 16:9: Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
    • Zoom 1: Vertically enlarges the size of the picture and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote.
    • Zoom 2: Vertically enlarges the size of the picture more than Zoom 1 and allows you to move the enlarged picture using the arrows on the remote.
    • Wide Fit: Proportionally enlarges the picture to fit the entire screen without changing the aspect ratio.
    • 4:3: Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode with pillars on the left and right of the screen.
    • Screen Fit: See the full image with no resizing when HDMI (720p/1080i/180p) or Component (1080i/1080p) signals are inputted.
    • Smart View 1/2: Reduces the 16:9 picture by 50% (1) or 25% (2).
  • Picture Modes: Picture Modes apply preset adjustments to the picture.
    • Dynamic: increases the brightness of the screen (suitable for bright rooms)
    • Standard: suitable for a normal environment
    • Natural: useful for reducing eye strain
    • Movie: darkens the screen and reduces glare (appropriate for dark rooms)
    • Entertain: sharpens images for a more dynamic viewing experience (only available when connected to a computer)
  • Manual Picture Settings: The TV has several options for manually adjusting the picture quality.
    • Backlight: adjusts the brightness of the LED backlight
    • Contrast: increases or decreases the contrast between dark and light areas of the picture
    • Brightness: adjusts the brightness level of the picture (not as effective as Backlight setting)
    • Sharpness: sharpens or dulls the edges of objects
    • Color: adjusts the color saturation of the picture
    • Tint (G/R): adjusts the amount of green and red in a picture
  • Advanced Picture Settings: The TV also offers more advanced picture adjustments for fine tuning.
    • Dynamic Contrast: adjusts the screen contrast so that the optimal contrast is provided
    • Black Tone: adjusts the black level on the screen to adjust the screen depth
    • Flesh Tone: adjusts the amount of red in skin tones
    • RGB Only Mode: displays the Red, Green, and Blue color for making find adjustments to the hue and saturation
    • Color Space: adjusts the range of colors available to create the image (Auto/Native)
    • White Balance: adjusts the color temperature for more natural picture colors
    • Gamma: adjusts the primary color (red, green, blue) intensity
  • Picture Options: Additional picture options provide you with a better viewing experience.
    • Color Tone: adjusts the overall color tone of the televisions using one of four presets: Cool, Normal, Warm 1, Warm 2
    • Digital Clean View: if the broadcast signal received by the TV is weak, you can activate the Digital Clean View feature to reduce any static and ghosting that may appear on the screen
    • MPEG Noise Filter: reduces MPEG noise to provide an improved picture
    • HDMI Black Level: select the black level on the screen to adjust the screen depth when you have a component connected via HDMI to the television
    • LED Clear Motion: removes drag from fast scenes with a lot of movement to provide a clear picture
Note: You can adjust and store Picture Settings for each external device connected to the TV or apply the settings to all inputs and sources.

Film & Game Modes: The television provides Film & Game modes.

  • Film Mode: The TV can be set to automatically sense and process film signals from all sources and adjust the picture from optimum quality. Film mode is supported in TV, AV, Component (480i/1080i), and HDMI (480i/1080i).
  • Game Mode: When connecting the television to a game console, you can enjoy a more realistic gaming experience when selecting Game Mode.

BD Wise: BD Wise Plus provides the optimal picture quality for Samsung DVD, Blu-ray, and Home Theater products which support BD Wise. When BD Wise is set to On, the TV's picture mode is automatically changed to the optimal resolution.

PIP (Picture-in-Picture): You can watch the TV's tuner and one external video source (component/HDMI) simultaneously). The component/HDMI source will be displayed as the main picture, while the TV channel will be displayed in a sub-screen, while which can be moved to each corner of the television's screen. You can switch the audio between the main screen and sub-screen.

Audio Features

DTS Premium Sound: The Samsung LED-LCD TV employs DTS Studio Sound processing with DTS TruSurround and DTS TruDialog which will decode DTS-encoded content, such as TV programming, Blu-ray movies, and streaming media, as well as processes stereo content to deliver an optimized virtual surround sound experience with enhanced bass response, clear dialog, and consistent volume levels through the TV speakers.

  • DTS TruSurround: DTS TruSurround is a patented DTS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. DTS TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including the internal television speakers. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats.
  • DTS TruDialog: This function allows you to increase the intensity of a voice over background music or sound effects so that dialogue  can be heard more clearly.
Note: The speakers of this TV provide different sound images according to how you position the television. You can select between "Wall-Mount" or "Stand" to provide the best sound quality based on the television's placement.

5-Band EQ + Sound Modes: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 5-band EQ (100 Hz, 300 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, and 10 kHz) for a more customized sound; or simply choose from the following Preset Sound Modes:

  • Standard: Selects the normal sound mode.
  • Music: Emphasizes music over voices.
  • Movie: Provides the best sound for movies.
  • Clear Voice: Emphasizes voices over other sounds.
  • Amplify: Amplify mode is for people who have difficulty hearing.

Audio Settings: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.

  • Auto Volume: Auto Volume automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.
  • Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
  • Picture Off: You can turn the television's screen off and still listen to audio.

Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output.

  • Digital Audio (w/ DTS Neo 2:5): The optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital/DTS (when available) or 2 channel PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital/DTS when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, and USB ports on the LED-LCD TV. The optical digital audio output will only output in 2ch stereo or a matrixed 5.1ch signal (DTS Neo 2:5) from sources connected to the TV via HDMI or RCA.
  • Analog Audio: The television features a 3.5mm (minijack) audio output for connecting the television to an analog 2-channel receiver. You will need a minijack-to-RCA adapter (sold separately) to make a stereo RCA connection between the television and your soundbar speaker or AV receiver. The TV's analog audio output terminals will output 2ch audio from any of the television's source inputs.

ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.

Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.

Network/USB Functions

Samsung's Quad Core Processor: Samsung's Quad Core processing speeds allow you to perform multiple tasks at the same time, such as using an app while downloading another one. It also enables extremely faster web browsing and application access. Quad Core eliminates lag to give you a fluid browsing experience. It enables you to switch between apps, stream content, and multi-task faster. This extra power also provides faster page refreshing

Network Connection (wired/wireless): You can set up the Samsung H6350 series LED-LCD TV so that it can access your home network and online Samsung Apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; Automatic, Manual, WPS (PBC), or WPS (PIN). The Blu-ray player's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11A/B/G/N wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), or WPA2-PSK network security.

Note: Samsung recommends a network speed of 10Mbps or above.

WiFi Direct: When usingWiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung LED-LCD TV without connecting to your home network. yes[ Christopher  Jan 29, 2015 ]
Yes, just use USB. I am not so fine at all this stuff and am 73 yrs young so when I got all I thought I had to attaché, sat down and was prepared to bring all my pictures to the large screen, was I surprised. I had to go back to book and read again and understood that just because I could get my Netflix I could not get my pictures without a little more learning. Not only can you get those stored pictures, but shop, search the web and handle your mail. Since I have a desk top and it is around the corner from the TV I use a laptop. With your wireless modem, no problem and you can call the team at Crutchfield to help you. You can't get this kind of help just everywhere. I am so thrilled with this TV. My next purchase is the Samsung 6500 Bluray that will make my bedroom Samsung a smart tv as I was silly when I did not buy a smart one last yr. Go for it girl and just call the team if you need a little help, you will love it[ Jeannie  Jan 29, 2015 ]
Yes, you can. However, It is not the same as the browser experience of a PC or Mac. Having some kind of wireless keyboard makes it a much better experience, but still less than great. Perhaps if you connect with a wired RJ-45 cable directly to your router or modem it would work better, but you need a strong wireless signal for any meaningful long term browsing. Other than that, it is a fine TV with a great picture and many onboard apps. Hope this helps.[ WARREN  Jan 29, 2015 ]

I don't think so. If I am not mistaken the Samsung link app allows you to get help that can remote into your TV. This is a very basic TV. But if you call Crutchfield support, they are wonderful about answering questions.[ KATHY  Oct 17, 2014 ]
yes[ J  Oct 17, 2014 ]
Yes it does; however, I don't have a need for it, so cannot attest to how well it works.[ robert  Oct 13, 2014 ]
I beleive so? Sorry i cant be more help. Honestly havent used the smart functions very much.[ Ryan  Oct 13, 2014 ]
How do I hook up my Directv cable box, to this smart tv? [ Blank  Oct 23, 2014 ]
Yes. There is a mini plug (monaural) as well as an optic connection. I use the optic with a zVox sound bar and it works great. Love the TV![ Chris  Oct 18, 2014 ]
I do not know what you mean by "sound connect". You cannot attach a sound bar with speakers. The support staff at Crutchfield is great about answering questions.[ KATHY  Oct 17, 2014 ]
We have not tried 'sound connect' with our TV. We have successfully used Amazon's application to rent movies.[ Patrick  Oct 11, 2014 ]
i don't know[ ANDREAS  Oct 11, 2014 ]
