Item # 30555F6400 | MFR # UN55F6400AFXZA

The F6400 series pulls together some of Samsung's most advanced capabilities and features for 2013 without breaking the bank. The UN55F6400 is a 3D TV, but its appeal isn't limited to 3D fans. Why? Because displaying 3D accurately requires a top-notch screen. So, even if you don't care about 3D, that capability comes with a bonus: the sharpest, clearest 2D picture you've ever seen.
This model's LED backlight employs Samsung's Micro Dimming technology to produce a more accurate picture. The TV divides the image into multiple areas and applies the correct contrast levels to each area. The edge-mounted LEDs can actually dim independently based on the content in each scene. This is also a high-speed scanning backlight, which helps get rid of motion blur in on-screen action.
The UN55F6400 makes finding great things to watch easier. Samsung's innovative Smart Hub organizes your favorite entertainment into five simple panels: On-TV, Movies and Shows, Social, Apps, and a panel for your personal photos, videos and music. You can actually ask the TV for recommendations while you're watching, like "what movies are on?" You speak into the microphone built into the remote control, which feels more natural than talking to the TV screen. If your PC is networked you can even search through the video and music you've stored on it using the TV's slick touchpad remote.
New for 2013 is a cool feature called TV View. It lets you mirror whatever's on the UN55F6400's screen on your Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone or Galaxy tablet. If you need to leave the room — like, maybe to fix a sandwich — you won't have to leave your entertainment behind. It's like whole-house television you can hold in your hand.

Works great. Good picture. Awesome customer service.
Pros: Good gaming. Nice features
Cons: Could use more AV imputs. Sound is decent.
Excellent TV thus far. Have not had a chance to watch any Blu Ray yet, but I think I will wait until Lone Survivor comes out!
Cons: Not all connections on back of TV are suited for flat installation. You may need a few different right angle adapters
Great TV overall. Loading apps can be somewhat slow, but they work well when loaded. I wanted a smart tv to hang on the wall in the bedroom and not have component shelves or a stand. I needed plenty of room between the tv and the bed. The slim design works well using a thin wall bracket. We've only had this for a couple of weeks and so far, no problems. Great picture and the sound is OK - not great, but OK. The sound would be greatly improved by a sound bar and I may add one at a later date. The micro dimming feature works well. 3D seems to work well, but have not used it more than testing it. Viewing 2D in 3D is an interesting feature. It gives the picture some depth, but not much more. It might be fun to watch some old movies in 3D mode. The TV was very easy to set up and connect wirelessly to our network. So far so good. We love the TV and its features. The remote takes a little getting used to, but works well. I like the raised symbols and the touch pad control. You can do everything by touch, but it has a backlight feature if you want to view the remote in a dark room.
Pros: Great picture. Easy to set up. Nice remote.
Cons: Smart apps a little slow to start. Sound quality is just OK.
TV looked great and was very easy to set up. Unfortunately after 30 minutes I heard a pop and then the TV would not turn back on. Call Crutchfield and customer service was awesome as always. They walked me through what to try to do and after determining it was something wrong with the TV immediately ordered me a new one. Hopefully this was a one time issue and not a problem with Samsung TVs.
We originally planned to purchase another TV but this TV had such a Great picture we ended up spending more and got a much better quality picture TV!
Excellent value. This isn't a $5k TV with 4k resolution. It IS an excellent value. Picture looks great, Internet works great and was easy to setup. BE SURE TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE BEFORE SETTING UP INTERNET or you WILL have issues trying to connect to your wireless network. Once I had the firmware updated (very easy to do from TV menu), setup was a breeze. If you have a router with a "WPS" (wireless protected setup button) you don't really need to know ANYTHING about networking. When you press this button on a router it scans for local devices to send network info (Wireless SSID name, wireless key/passphrase, encryption type, etc.). The TV receives this info from the router without you having to know an IP address or wireless passphrase. SIMPLE! This TV replaced my Samsung DLP which I've had for about 12 years. It still looked decent but probably would have needed a bulb soon so it was time to upgrade! I also have quite a few Samsung computer monitors and I've had very good look with all of their products.. including a Samsung Blu Ray player. I'm sure I'll have this TV for the next 10 or so years again! As I upgrade the main living room TV, the old one moves to a spare bedroom or out by the hot tub in the Florida room. For the price, you really can't beat the features of this TV. Recommended!
Pros: GREAT VALUE! Nice picture, size, 3d, nice menus. VERY easy to interface with existing cable boxes/sat boxes/stereo/ etc. Handles a few different types of 3d movies.
Cons: None for the price!
I could not be more satisfied with this purchase. The picture and sound quality are amazing.
I normally do not do reviews, but this is such a great product it deserves it. This is the best tv i have ever seen. The picture quality is so good that even dish network looks like a Blueray is playing.
Pros: picture quality is unreal.
This UN55F6400 has a spectacular picture, and the remote is different at first, but you get used to it quickly. I like it because there are about 1,000 fewer buttons than most remotes. If you read the instructions and don't try to be a geek hero, you'll be successful on the first try. My only problem thus far has been some choppy motion issues in the image. I get this from multiple HDMI sources, so I'm pretty sure it is the set. I've played with the settings a number of times, and managed to get it minimized at first, but then I did a firmware upgrade over the Internet and it all started again. I'm having trouble correcting the problem again. I have a 19-inch Vizio that has never done this once, so I'm terribly frustrated that I even need to bother.
Pros: Beautiful picture. Light, easy for mounting. Energy Star.
Cons: Choppy motion at times.
Our older TV bit the dust following some recent ice storm related power surges. We went online and compared the models available on Crutchfield's website. This model had all the features we were looking for, at a good price and with the added insurance of lifetime technical support from Crutchfield. We drove into Charlottesvillle to see it and other models in Crutchfield's showroom, and with the help of a courteous, knowledgeable salesperson, quickly settled on this one with a 55" screen rather than the 50" we had been considering. We paid to have have it delivered and installed by Crutchfield, and could not have been happier with the service provided by Crutchfield or with our purchase of this TV. The picture is bright and clear and we have been enjoying all of this model's features, including 3D.
Pros: Bright picture with excellent clarity and sound, and no noticeable angle viewing difficulties.
Cons: None, we love everything about this TV.
Great picture! Worked great out of the box. Cool remote.
Pros: Excellent picture!
This tv is nice, great picture and easy set up. We upgraded our Directv to HD at the same time and the tv really shows it off.
Great price for all the features it comes with. Picture is crystal clear, set-up was easy and universal remote really is universal. Crutchfield's customer service and fast shipping made this an enjoyable purchase.
Excellent picture! It is indeed a Smart TV! It's easy to make adjustments, even for someone like myself , who has limited technical knowledge.
In my initial search, I didn't know much about smart TV's, so it took me about a week of reading reviews and going to a big box store to get up to speed. I ended up making a rash decision and purchased the 600 model right below this one along with the Samsung sound bar and sub all from the big box store. I brought them home and the next morning decided to get on Crutchfield and read about what I just purchsed. I quickly discovered that the 6400 has the same feature set as the more expensive 700 models and the one I had purchased did not have. 3D, higher refresh rate, 700 style remote with new Smart Hub, etc. I also discovered that Crutchfield had this better TV for the same price as the lesser model I bought! OK, so I pull out the Samsung soundbar and sub and just set it up to play music from my iphone, Spotify (which I planned on using all the time) and it sounded like crap. So, I called Crutchfield (which is what I should have done in the first place) and the sales person was fantastic. He suggested the better model TV and the JBL SB400 which was superior for music. I returned the purchases and ordered the JBL and Samsung 6400 from Crutchfield. I upgraded both devices immensly for only $9 more!! Watching sports (golf balls and footballs flying to not produce any tracers). Love the TV and especially the sub using the ARC HDMI. This is a great set up for the price!
Pros: Smart Hub Refresh Rate HDMI ARC for sending audio to JBL Soundbar (for Netflix, Spotify, etc in the apps) Beautiful picture. I went to Movie mode and just tweaked a bit from there. Buy a Logitech remote. I got one and it works perfect, even Smart Hub Apps!!
Cons: Get a nice ARC HDMI ( I bought the Cinnamon 1 meter and it's perfect). Sound coming from Samsung to JBL was popping and actually blew my speakers. Had to retun them for same product and now works great. Wired internet not essential for most apps, but is needed for streaming 3D.
Great efficient, helpful, knowledgeable sales. Efficient delivery. Easy to assemble. Clear, beautiful pic. Programming with computer is extremely complicated, in fact, still have not accomplished it. Remote very confusing. Very disappointed in the remote - perhaps with time, but as of now would not purchase due to the sensitive details of the remote. Have not used the 3-D feature as yet.
Pros: Helpful, knowledgeable sales. Clear pic. Good price.
Cons: Confusing remote, so for that reason alone would go a different direction. Very complicated to program with computer unless you are extremely experience or a trained tech.
An excellent TV. superior picture. Easy to set up. Taking some time to learn all the features. Does so much more then the average TV set.
I did a lot of comparing before deciding on this Samsung. For the price, this TV is amazing. The picture is fabulous, especially after doing a calibration I found online. On-air HD is super-crisp, blu-rays look amazing, and YouTube videos through the apps are of great quality. I am not noticing any off angle viewing issues either. I really like the remote as well. Only thing I haven't tried yet is the 3D yet. I am running an antenna, a newly built HTPC for web and blu-ray, and a Yamaha Sound Bar with Sub.
Pros: Great picture, sleek styling, four HDMI ports, two optical outs, cool remote. Lots of apps
Cons: Truly minor niggles: Picture was a little too bright before calibration. Voice control through the remote is fiddly.

LED Edge-Lighting w/ Micro Dimming: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology w/ Micro Dimming shows greater detailed contrast across the screen with richer, brighter colors, whiter whites, and deeper blacks. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness. Micro Dimming uses a proprietary algorithm that adjusts brightness and contrast in select parts of the screen based on the image being displayed. This system provides provides a more natural color representation with ultra-sharp blacks, deeper reds & greens, and brighter whites.
Clear Motion Rate 480: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.
Auto Motion Plus: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, Demo, or Off.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus: Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended. Witness the entire RGB spectrum brought to life on your screen to bring you exceptionally vibrant, yet natural-looking images faithful to the director's original intent.
Motion Lighting: The TV automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen in response to the brightness of the room. In bright light, the screen brightens. In dim light, the screen dims.
HDTV Tuner: The TV has built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Digital Cable (QAM) tuners, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals.

Audio Enhancements: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.
Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel in HDMI 1.4 enables a TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
SoundShare: The TV is compatible with the SoundShare feature found on some Samsung Crystal Surround AirTrack active speaker systems (sound bars). SoundShare makes a wireless connection between the TV and the speaker system via Bluetooth. Once the two are paired, you can control the volume and mute the sound by using the remote control from the TV or the speaker system.
