Crutchfield: Samsung U9000 4K Ultra HD TVs
Item # 30555U9000 | MFR # 55U9000
This item is no longer available.
If you've been to your local multiplex recently, you probably saw a movie in 4K on a curved screen. Now Samsung lets you experience that amazing picture depth and detail right in your living room.
In addition to its super-sharp 3840 x 2160-pixel picture detail, the UN55HU9000's screen is gently curved to provide a slight wraparound effect. The curved surface reduces reflections from ambient lighting on the sides, which is always a good thing.
Together, these features create the ultimate immersive viewing experience, enveloping you in spectacular color, clarity and detail. And unlike last year's curved designs, the UN55HU9000 can be wall-mounted.
Samsung made sure that this set's video processing and connections are as state-of-the-art as the screen. The UN55HU9000 is one of the first Ultra HD TVs to include “HEVC” decoding, which means it'll be able to display 4K Netflix® content with no additional gear needed. And this TV will be ready for what's coming further in the future, thanks to Samsung's One Connect Box, which houses the inputs and outputs and most of the TV's processing brains. Simply replacing this box will keep UN55HU9000 owners up to date on Ultra HD format standards as they evolve.
True 4K content will continue to be scarce for a while, but that won't keep you from enjoying a remarkable picture. Samsung made 4K upconversion a top priority as they developed the video processing circuitry for the UN55HU9000. Their UHD Upscaling automatically upconverts any signal to match the screen's 4K resolution. All of your current video sources — Blu-ray player, cable or satellite TV box, game console — will look better than ever.
The UN55HU9000 includes Samsung's One Connect Box, which has inputs for your video components. A single cable connects the box to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look.
Instead of connecting your Blu-ray player, cable box, and other sources to the TV itself, you connect them to Samsung's One Connect switching hub, which comes in the box with the UN55HU9000. It has four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and an antenna jack. A single cable connects this box to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look.
Samsung has a clever way to keep their most advanced TVs on the cutting edge. It's called Smart Evolution, and it lets you upgrade the TV's "brain" — its main processor, graphics processor, and memory — to support future formats and features as they become available. It's especially important for a 4K TV, because as new 4K standards emerge, this Smart Evolution design will allow you to replace the One Connect box for an easy upgrade.
The Quad Screen feature divides this TV into four screens. Watch a golf tournament on one screen while searching the web for current standings on another. Then watch a video tutorial to master your swing while navigating your Smart TV panel on the fourth screen.
Tablets and smartphones can run circles around many older Smart TVs, but they can't do all the tricks that the UN55HU9000 can. Samsung's super-speedy Quad-Core Plus processor supports a new Multi-Link feature, which lets you place live TV side-by-side with other apps, like YouTube™ or a web browser — you can browse the web without having to interrupt what you're watching.
Besides surfing the web you can do things like multitask or use one app while downloading another. Whether your connection is wired or wireless, you can do a quick web search while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online. Along with built-in apps for services like Netflix®, Hulu®, and YouTube™, you can download new ones from Samsung's large selection of apps.
Samsung's AllShare™ Play lets you wirelessly access and stream content from any compatible device. If you have a Galaxy S3 smartphone or Galaxy tablet, you can share movies, photos, and music via the UN55HU9000. Your Wi-Fi® network lets you do things like "toss" photos from your phone or tablet to the screen with the swipe of a finger. Or push streaming video like Netflix movies from device to screen.
Sending content from your phone to your TV is cool, and going TV-to-phone is even cooler. Just download Samsung's Smart View app and use the TV View feature to mirror whatever's on the UN55HU9000's screen on your Galaxy S3 phone or tablet. You can leave the room anytime without leaving your entertainment behind. Think of it as a whole-house TV system you can hold in your hand.

Average Customer Review(s):
It is perfect excellent quality image
It's got all the "bell & whistles" I need, 3d, smart, 4k, etc. But it is just a TV. The curved screen doesn't do anything for me, the glossy screen is kind of annoying if there happens to be a light on in its reflection, had to do some rearranging to eliminate this. Overall I'm completely satisfied, it works as advertised and was especially easy to set up.
Pros: Image quality, sound, ease of use/setup
Cons: Glossy screen
Beautiful picture and sound quality.
Pros: Best picture I've ever seen.
Cons: 3D glasses don't seem to work very well. I haven't taken much time to research the problem, it might just be operator issues.
Superb picture. When paired with Samson One Connect, faultless switching between audio-visual sources.
Amazing! Spend the money and get the best picture you've ever seen. I did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. A few come close, but I was unable to find one that had a better picture. My first Samsung and will not be the last. Crutchfield was awesome as usual!
Pros: Simple to use, yet loaded with more features than I will ever need.
Cons: 2 Remotes??
Viewing 11 Feet from TV, a 3D movie is bigger (and better) than the real thing. Joking aside, the TV is stunning. Off it is a beautiful sculpture. The picture quality is very good. Blacks could be blacker, but it is not a plasma. Sharpness is excellent. You are able to see every wrinkle and skin imperfection in all of your favorite stars. Who knew they were that old. Apps work great, internet is less slow than previous mode3ls, 3d is superb as is the color reproduction of photos.
Pros: Design, clarity, sharpness, color range, remote, built in speakers not so bad, curved soundbar looks great, sounds ....
Cons: Blacks not really black, edges a little off, messed up soundbar interface and performance,
TV is sharp looking picture has a unique look that is very eye catching and color is great
Pros: the curve is attractive looking even when not on
Cons: it is really to soon to tell if the life will be a long span or not as the price is not what someone wants to pay every 2 to 4 years
I've been buying from Crutchfield for over 30 years and been satisfied every time. I have had my eye on this UHDTV for some time as it has all the features I wanted- Active 3D & high refresh rate. It is simply spectacular and I am eagerly looking forward to a Samsung Video Pack so we can see our TV at it's best!
Pros: elegant styling, easy to hook up & more bells & whistles than I will probably ever discover! A picture of such resolution that I have never seen on any of my old TV's. Another quality piece of equipment from a quality company...
Cons: none so far.
So far - Beautiful picture, no issues at all. Crutchfield customer Service delivers!
Pros: Driod app, easy to use/navigate, picture quality for price
Cons: 2 remotes - still getting used to the motion remote hard to find 4k content so far - netflix and the HD is about it.
The picture quality is amazing.
Pros: Beautiful TV, even when not turned on.
Cons: The fact you cannot create a Favorite Channels list when using a cable box is most annoying.
This TV is outstanding! Everything about it is GREAT! The customer service was AWESOME! Delivered when it was promised! I love Crutchfield!
Not only does this have the best picture of any that I have seen.It is extremely easy to set up. Also up scales DVDs and bluerays extremely well. After tweaking picture just a little,it became even better. Another huge plus is Crutchfield support is absolutely the best. Great to talk to people from USA
Pros: Picture quality. Up scaling Skype Internet access. One connect box for all future samsung upgrades and ease of connecting other components Crutchfield lifetime support
Cons: For price of this unit should have had at least 1 HDMI 2 or high speed HDMI cable included
Great picture quality and features. Easy to use. Everything you would expect from Samsung and a UHD TV. The 3D is a fun option, especially since my cable provider offers 3D options on-demand.
Pros: Curved screen is a nice feature and looks great in the living room. Ease of set-up and use is a plus, expecially with the smart remote. Looking forward to getting the HD Media Player to fully enjoy the 4k resolution.
Cons: Hooked TV up to my Bose reciever and apeaker system. Works great with the exception that apps from the SamartHub current arte only supported with audio thru the TV speakers, not external speakers. After speaking with the support team at Samsung I was told this was a known issue that would be resolved with a firmware update sometime in the future. A mild annoyance, but not a deal breaker as I still access most of the same apps thru my Apple TV.
This TV is amazing, easy to set up and picture if fantastic. UP scaling from 1080i TV looks better than no upscaled. When matched with a 4K DVD player picture from a regular Blue ray is improved, waiting to receive my 1TB hard drive with actual 4k (not upscaled movies on it) to see how native formate 4K looks. #d movies are amazing as well
Pros: The best set on the market, the upgradable control box (unknown how much that will cost to up grade in the future though) or if it is hardware or software upgrade is a plus.
Cons: I wish the control box that controls the set had a few more HDMI inputs, on it so I did not need to use a switch box to control PS3, PS4, Playstation, but this is a minor.A tad expensive, however this is not unexpected for early adoption of curved screen and 4K
Wow! The best tv out there!!! The picture is outstanding worth every penny. The curved tv really brings You in. The price is much higher than Most 55 inch tvs. But they don't compare to the quality.the only downside is there is not much content in 4k hopefully soon.
Pros: Great quality Great design Super Hd converter
Cons: Minimal 4k Second remote controller not needed
This TV is really AWESOME. I'm sold on the curved screen which really makes the difference bringing you into what you are watching. Although there isn't much 4K content, this TV makes what's out there so much better due to all of the video processing that Samsung brings to the table. Also the applications in Samsung's SMART tv system is over the top. I was also really pleased that it has a "real" web browser that works as good as my laptop. The only disappointment was the HDMI Audio Return Channel ARC feature. It's not a fault of Samsung since they are following the HDMI specification but if you turn this on in your home theater system it makes the receiver a "slave" to your TV meaning that the audio from the TV is the primary source to the receiver and there is no way to make the receiver the primary audio source unless you re-select the receiver input after everything is on. Samsung wants you to connect all your inputs, cable box, DVD, etc, to it's OneConnect box instead of connecting to the receiver then to the TV via HDMI. So one work around is to connect an optical cable from the Samsung audio out to the receiver to get audio from your receiver when you are watching content from a Samsung application such as Netflix for example. I also like the OneConnect box for any upgrades in the future. The TV price is up there but if you want the best, it's worth it.
Pros: Awesome picture, never seen better.
This Tv is amazing, the picture is something like i have never seen before as far as home entertainment. I love it and I love the brain box that comes with the tv so you don't have to have all those wires coming from the tv.. Samsung is the Shizzle!!!!
Pros: Picture quality is outstanding
Cons: Two remotes is kinda too much

Ultra-HD 4K Resolution w/ UHD Upscaling: The Samsung HU9000 series LED-LCD TV has a display resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 (4K) and will display all video at that resolution; regardless of input signal. The Ultra-HD TV even offers "HEVC" decoding, which means it'll be able to display 4K content from online movie & TV show providers (like Netflix). 4K provides 4x higher resolution than current 1080p high-definition TVs, ensuring a truly immersive experience for all your favorite movies and TV shows. UHD Upscaling delivers the complete Ultra-HD picture experience with a proprietary process including signal analysis, noise reduction, UHD upscaling, and detail enhancement to seamlessly upconvert SD, HD, or full-HD content to Ultra-HD-level picture quality.
Ultra-Clear Panel w/ Curved Screen: The Samsung Ultra Clear Panel absorbs ambient light, reduces reflections and lets the picture come to life. It displays deeper blacks and enhanced contrast for crystal clarity and reduces glare, so you can see clearly and enjoy more detail. Samsung's curved screen is supported with proprietary technology that creates an accurate picture with exceptional color, without any picture distortion. It has a dramatically improved field of view that creates a panoramic effect and helps the picture feel bigger.
LED Edge-Lighting w/ Local Dimming: Samsung's LED Edge-Lighting technology w/ UHD Dimming + Precision Black Local Dimming maximizes the contrast between lights and darks to create a picture that is as true-to-life as possible. The television's white LEDs are arranged along the left and right edges of the screen and a proprietary light guide is used to focus its luminance inwards towards the middle of the screen for a more uniform brightness.
Clear Motion Rate 1440: Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is Samsung's more comprehensive and accurate measure for how well the LED-LCD TV can display fast-moving images. Previously, motion clarity was expressed simply by the refresh rate, measured in Hz. CMR, however, takes into account all three factors that contribute to motion clarity: panel refresh rate, image processor speed and backlight technology. CMR is measured by determining the thinnest line a TV can display in a moving image. The thinner the line, the higher the CMR rating, and the clearer the picture you'll enjoy on the screen.
Wide Color Enhancer Plus + PurColor: With Wide Color Enhancer Plus, you'll witness a wider spectrum of colors on the TV screen, just like the director intended. You'll enjoy enriched colors while watching your favorite movies, and shows, even if it's older, non-HD content. PurColor allows the TV to express the most shades of color as nature intended for optimal picture performance. Most TV's focus on the adjustment points of primary colors Red, Green and Blue. PurColor focuses on primary and secondary colors Magenta, Cyan and Yellow.
Auto Motion Plus & Auto Depth Enhancer: Auto Motion Plus removes blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panels and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion. Auto Motion Plus can be set to Clear, Standard, Smooth, Custom, or Off. Auto Depth Enhancer is innovative picture technology that analyzes regions of each image and automatically adjusts the contrast for a greater sense of depth. As a result, everything you watch has incredible detail and appears more natural.
One Connect Box: The Samsung HU9000 series LED-LCD TV includes Samsung's One Connect Box which connects to the television via a single 10' proprietary cable. The One Connect Box is fitted with all of the TV's RF, video, audio, USB, LAN, and IR Out connectivity. The One Connect Box provides high definition and standard definition video inputs, as well as a built-in HDTV tuner. The box provides clean integration of all your external devices so there's less clutter. The One Connect Box measures 14.1875" (w) x 1.0625" (h) x 5.125" (d).
Note: The One Connect Box allows you to update your TV with the newest software and features. Not only does the One Connect Box update the TV with the newest software and features, it also makes the TV ready for any and all possible 4K formats.
HDMI (MHL) Port: The HDMI 4 port is designed for the connection of select mobile phones and other portable electronic devices using the new MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) standard. Simply plug your MHL compatible smartphone into the TV's HDMI 4 (MHL) port using the HDMI cable that is included with your mobile phone. MHL allows you to display full 1080p video and still images on the Samsung TV from your mobile smartphone. The TV's IR remote can be used to control basic playback functions (such as Play/Pause, Stop Fast Forward/Rewind, and Menu navigation). Your MHL compliant device will also charge while connected to the TV's HDMI 4 port. To find MHL-certified devices, go to www.mhlconsortium.org.
Ultra-HD 3D (4 Pair of Glasses Included): With Ultra-HD 3D you get 4x the resolution of Full HD 1080p while watching 3D. Samsung The TV utilizes Bluetooth-enabled active shutter glasses for an ultra 4K 3D viewing experience when coupled with a 3D source, such as a 3D-ready Blu-ray player or an HD 3D broadcast from satellite or cable providers (connected via HDMI 2.0). The Samsung LED-LCD TV automatically adjusts the overall picture to provide an optimal 3D effect. The Samsung 3D TV also offers a unique feature that allows you to intensify your 2D viewing experience by up-converting it to virtual 3D. In addition, you can adjust the overall 3D perspective, 3D image depth, and 3D brightness.
Note: Samsung 3D TV supports Ultra-HD 3D for 3840 x 2160p (24/30Hz), 1920 x 1080p (24/60Hz), 1920 x 1080i (60Hz), and 1280 x 720 (60Hz) video signals.

Audio Extras: The Samsung TV offers a variety of audio adjustments to meet your listening needs.
Audio Outputs: The Samsung LED-LCD television provides an analog and digital audio output via the included One Connect Box.
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 3 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, HDMI inputs, or any analog connected device to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input. The audio from the TV's tuner, network connection, and USB port can pass as Dolby Digital or 2ch PCM. HDMI and analog connected devices will be output as 2ch PCM only.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 3 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
SoundShare: The TV is compatible with the SoundShare feature found on some Samsung active soundbar speaker systems). SoundShare makes a wireless connection between the TV and the speaker system via Bluetooth. Once the two are paired, you can control the volume and mute the sound by using the remote control from the TV or the speaker system. If you change the soundbar speaker system from TV mode to another mode or turn it off, the TV audio will resume playing from the TV's speakers. SoundShare can be found on select Samsung active soundbar speaker systems (sold separately).
Samsung's Quad Core Processor: Samsung's Quad Core processing speeds allow you to perform multiple tasks at the same time, such as using an app while downloading another one. It also enables extremely faster web browsing and application access. Quad Core eliminates lag to give you a fluid browsing experience. It enables you to switch between apps, stream content, and multi-task faster. This extra power also provides faster page refreshing
Network Connection (wired/wireless): You can set up the Samsung HU9000 series LED-LCD TV so that it can access your home network and online Samsung Apps through your local area network (LAN) using a wired (RJ-45 Ethernet) or wireless connection (built-in WiFi). The RJ-45 Ethernet jack is located on the One Connect Box. You can setup a wired network connection automatically or manually. You can setup the wireless network connection using these four methods; Automatic, Manual, WPS (PBC), or WPS (PIN). The TV's built-in WiFi supports IEEE 802.11A/B/G/N wireless LAN networks and WEP (open/shared), WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), or WPA2-PSK network security; a dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router is recommended for 4K streaming.
Note: Samsung recommends a home network connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps for standard definition, 10 Mbps for high definition, and 15 Mbps for ultra-high definition.
WiFi Direct: When using WiFi Direct, you can connect directly with other devices without using a wireless router. You'll be able to wirelessly transfer personal content (such as photos & videos) to the Samsung LED-LCD TV without connecting to your home network. WiFi Direct completely bypasses your WiFi access point/router, so it's easy to set up. Streaming of copy-protected content and other certain formats are not supported.

Smart Apps lets you download for pay or free-of-charge applications and services to the Samsung HU9000 series LED-LCD TV. You can enjoy a variety of content from various downloaded applications; such as videos, music, photos, games, and news. Smart Apps has a growing collection of pay and free-of-charge online applications that connect you to some of your favorite online content. Visit Samsung's App Store for a complete list of available Samsung Apps.
Note: The Link Service Accounts function lets you link your player to your accounts with Internet services (such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.) so that the player can log you into the service automatically when you start the app for that service.
4K Network Streaming: This Ultra-HD TV even offers "HEVC" decoding, which means it'll be able to display 4K content from online movie & TV show providers (like Netflix or UltraFlix). 4K network streaming requires a network speed of 15Mbps or greater. A wired Ethernet connection is recommended over a wireless WiFi connection for better performance. If you desire a WiFi connection, then use a dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router for 4K streaming. Make sure the Samsung television has the latest software/firmware updates installed.
Web Browser You can access the internet using the player's Web Brower application. You can search web pages using Google or Bing. You may enter a URL addresses or enter a keyword search. Note: For AllShare/DLNA, Windows PCs with XP and Vista installed require Samsung's PC Share Manager software, which can be downloaded for free from the Samsung Download Center. Not compatible with older Windows OS versions and Mac.
Triple USB Ports: The television is equipped with three USB (type-A) ports. There are two USB 2.0 ports - one is used for connecting a USB mass-storage-class device (5V/0.5A); the other is used to connect a TV camera or keyboard/mouse from Samsung. There is one USB 3.0 port which can connect to a USB hard-disk-drive (5V/1A). The USB 2.0 (5V/0.5A) and USB 3.0 ((5V/1A) ports let you view photo and movie files, as well as listen to audio files saved on a compatible USB device. Files must be formatted in FAT, exFAT, or NTFS. The TV can recognize up to 1,000 files per folder.
Firmware/Software Updates: The television's Software Upgrade menu allows you to upgrade the TV's software & firmware for performance improvements & additional services. It also has a built-in microphone that you can use to give the Samsung TV voice commands. Because the Smart Touch Remote communicates with the TV through wireless Bluetooth communication, it will need to be initially paired with the TV. This means you don't have to point the remote directly at the TV.
Note: The Samsung TV also comes with a standard IR remote control.
Smart Interaction: The Samsung LED-LCD TV offers Smart Interaction with voice & motion control, as well as face recognition through its built-in retractable camera (adds 0.375" to height of TV) and remote's microphone. Wanted to upgrade [ L Apr 27, 2016 ]
Stunning. Great features. Took over 3 years to make my decision. This was the best value for the price. Crutchfield is a trusted Samsung retailer and others that are not might sell you re-certified or reconditioned. Read horror stories about other sellers - stuck with a trusted company. Have been happy with Samsung products-Researched for a new TV-admired the pictures seen in stores on 4K Ultra and this offer seemed to be the best for the money. [ DAVID Jan 23, 2016 ]
you can. but what ever your wife has playing threw speakers is what you will hear on head phones [ Richard Apr 15, 2016 ]
The "audio out" jack you plug your blu-tooth device into is not affected by the speaker volume on the set. Even if you "mute" the speakers on the TV, you will still have control of the volume on your head-set. Your headset just needs to have it's own volume adjustment to control that. it is about 6 ft. just get an extension cord if you need longer [ Peter Oct 27, 2014 ]
The Samsung documentation and technical specifications do not appear to have any information about the length of the power cord. My setup is already in place, so I cannot easily measure it exactly, but it seems to be about 6-8 feet. I do NOT recommend finding a substitute power cord if you need more length. A far better (and cheaper) solution is to purchase an extension cord. Here, for example, is a 6 foot one for $3.76 that would be an excellent choice: StarTech-com-PAC1016-6-Feet-Power-Cord-Extension/ Hope this helps. [ EDWIN D Oct 26, 2014 ]
I didn't measure it, but the 120 VAC power supply cable for use in the United States is approximately five feet long. The end of the cable that plugs into the wall outlet is a standard two-prong (non-grounded) L-shaped plug. But the other end that plugs into the Samsung appears to be a proprietary design. My power cord was too short -- but I solved the problem by using a sturdy single-outlet extension cord, plugged into a good-quality UPS to isolate the electronics from any voltage fluctuations. I hope this information is helpful. Aloha from O'ahu, --Ken [ Kenneth A. Oct 25, 2014 ]
I's a standard 6 foot power cable and yes you can substitute it for a longer one since I think the connection to the TV is standard. Otherwise just get a good extension cord or surge protected power strip. [ JOHN Oct 25, 2014 ]
It's good [ SAZIYE Oct 25, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: A great option for a full motion articulating mount for that TV would be the VFX220. http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc111/app/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=1133279 If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Robert, I think how you connect things is based on how you want your Remote Control to work. I eventually eliminated the HDMI relaying through a home theatr receiver because of HDCP syncing issues that caused many family members to have to power-cycle the home theater receiver to get the sound back. I am now taking the digital sound out of the television itself. [ Zzyzx Oh Jun 05, 2014 ]
Yes that is what I would do. The reason is that you want the Onkyo processing all of the audio which it does best and passing the video to the Samsung for it to process. Also best not to turn on the video upscaling on the Onkyo. Let the Samsung do all of the video processing which it does best. In addition, when you use a Samsung video application to play a movie for example, the Samsung will need to pass the audio to the Onkyo, You can try to see if the HDMI reverse auto channel works for you but if not just use an optical connection from the Samsung to the Onkyo for the audio and you will be all set.
