Samsung QN65Q9F - Samsung's QLED TVs deliver superior "color volume" -- full color accuracy and saturation no matter how bright the picture gets
Samsung is justifiably proud of their high-performance QLED TVs, and the 65" QN65Q9F ranks as their "best of the best." Whether it's on or off, the QN65Q9F is one of the most stunningly beautiful TVs you'll see this year. But what really matters is that it delivers a bright, vibrant picture that sets new standards for color realism.
Samsung has been using quantum dots in their top TVs for a few years now. For QLED, Samsung refined that approach with metal-based quantum dots that deliver a wider color palette, increased light efficiency, and greater durability.
QLED TVs deliver improved "color volume" capabilities compared to previous models. Color volume is a new way of talking about color performance that factors in color brightness. Until now, you'd typically lose some color accuracy as the TV's picture got brighter. But QLED maintains full color accuracy and saturation at any brightness level. Colors pop like they do in real life.
With a picture this vibrant, you'll want to feed the QN65Q9F the highest quality signals you can find. Hands down, the best available 4K source is a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Hollywood will release hundreds more movies on Ultra HD Blu-ray this year, and most of those discs will also be HDR-enhanced. There are 4K web streaming options, too, including Netflix®, Amazon Instant Video, and Vudu. Many of their 4K offerings also feature HDR.
But you don't need native 4K content to be knocked out by the QN65Q9F's picture. Samsung's engineers made 4K upconversion a top priority while developing this set's video processing circuitry. UHD Upscaling automatically upconverts any signal to match the screen's 4K resolution. All your current video sources will look better than ever.
Samsung has a nifty way of simplifying hookup, especially if you plan to wall-mount your TV. Instead of connecting your Blu-ray player, cable box, and other video sources to the TV itself, you connect them to the compact One Connect switching hub, which comes in the box with the QN65Q9F. A single super-thin cable connects the hub to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look. Both the TV panel and One Connect have their own power connections.
When it comes to smart TV features, Samsung's set of streaming video and music apps is hard to beat. And new, improved iOS® and Android® apps will let you receive live notifications from the QN65Q9F and help you locate content.
The smart remote's built-in microphone and the TV's voice control function really simplify everyday use. Your voice is all you need to turn the TV on or off, change channels, or adjust the volume. You can also navigate menus and launch apps, all without taking your eyes off the TV screen.

Awesome TV. Great customer service.
Absolutely fabulous. The picture is breathtaking.
Great, Great picture.
Great TV. I was just telling my wife last night that I love this TV. Picture is super sharp an bright. The auto dimmer feature wasn't to my taste, but easily turned off. Premium certified HDMI cables are a must with this tv. Some of my sources on kept cutting out when going through my receiver until I upgraded the cables. I used the ones from monoprice. Excellent cables from there. The hdr content looks amazing and all, but I'm also super impressed with the 1080 upscale this thing does. All my standard blu rays looked great. Some folks don't like the motion blur setting turned on stating something about soap opera effect, but I think I prefer it on. The setting has something to do with jitter reduction. I watched a little with and without the setting on. The new cec functionality was pretty good. Although, my harmony remote didn't like it. Got everything set up without cec now and works great. There is a setting for hdr that you have to turn on. Silly it's turned off out of the box. Guess it's for compatibility reasons. Only had it for a month, so there's probably some tinkering left to do. Especially with my blu Ray player in regard to the nits.
Stunning image; super-bright colors. Very happy.
Great picture I have all Samsung TVs this is the best so far.
Cons: None sofar
I would rate this TV at 4.8 stars. The picture is fantastic and the sound through my home theater audio system is great as well. The TV connections on the back for a wall mount were the exactly the same as my prior Samsung. My prior Samsung was a great TV as well but it was a victim of a lightning strike. I found the remote easy to use after a short learning curve. I also used the Samsung app on my smart phone when userid's and passwords were required. I also like the new user interface for selecting content. The One Connect box is OK, but in order to use it I had to make some changes to the wiring as the previous connections were directly to the TV. Also running the One Connect Cable is a bit tedious since can be prone to damage if the connection is not done properly.
Pros: Great picture and sound in all lighting conditions. Smart phone app makes entering numbers and letters much easier. I was able to use the same wall mount with the new TV.
Cons: One connect works fine once installed, but makes setup more difficult due to the need to reroute wiring in my installation.
except for figuring out the remote the TV is great.
Pros: great picture and sound
Cons: remote was confusing at first.
The picture quality is amazing in our bright light living room. At night it is equally terrific. It has almost a 3D effect on movies as you can see into the screen and the backgrounds look further away than the main scene. My wife says its like you are looking through a window at the scenes. We have replayed old DVR tapes we first saw on our old Sony 65" and it is unreal how they look like live takes on this Samsung.
Pros: Bright room viewing Picture quality makes everything look like a live broadcast
Cons: Remote take a while to adjust to.
I was pretty satisfied with last year's Samsung KS9000, so when the new QLED models were shown at CES I was only mildly impressed. However, as I read more and more about the basis of the technology in the new panels, I became intrigued and subsequently decided to give the new Q Series a try. After spending some time with the Q9, I must say I am glad I took the plunge...I expected an excellent picture, and the Q9 does not disappoint. It is even brighter in both SDR and HDR modes than last year's model, but the subtle tweaks to the operating system and hardware make the new model worthy of the hype surrounding it. The TV supports HDR10 from apps as well as from connected sources, and it supports HLG & HDR10+ from apps (HDR10+ is the dynamic version of HDR10, which is designed to provide the same image quality benefits of Dolby Vision). Upscaling of HD signals is excellent, with even broadcast TV signals looking almost as good as Blu-Ray. And speaking of broadcast TV, I think it's brilliant that when you first turn the set on and connect your antenna, the TV scans for channels in the background while you go about setting up other parameters. If you normally view from off-center, you will be pleased with the Q9...colors are true and shadow detail impressive when viewing from all but the most extreme angles. The Q9 can send Dolby Digital Plus audio from apps as well as sources connected to the OCH to an AV receiver via optical cable; Atmos from apps is supported via HDMI/ARC.
Pros: Incredible color, deep blacks, incredible brightness, innovative features.

MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panel and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion.
HDMI 2.0a Inputs: The Samsung QLED TV is equipped with four HDMI 2.0a inputs (located on the One Connect) to connect to your Blu-ray player, Satellite/Cable receiver, Game Console, and/or AV receiver. A single RF-type coaxial input is use to connect an external indoor/outdoor antenna (sold separately).
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 2 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, or HDMI inputs to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Optical Digital Output: The TV's optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital or DTS (when available), as well as DTS Neo 2.5 or 2ch PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital or DTS when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, HDMI inputs, or USB ports.
Note: This TV does not contain any analog audio inputs or outputs.
