Crutchfield: Samsung QLED 4K Ultra HD TVs
Crutchfield at CES: Samsung QLED TVs
From Samsung: Quantum Dot Technology
Samsung QN75Q7F - Samsung's QLED TVs deliver superior "color volume" -- full color accuracy and saturation no matter how bright the picture gets
Most of the buzz surrounding Samsung's 2017 4K TV lineup is centered on their high-performance "QLED" models, starting with the Q7 series. The 75" QN75Q7F is loaded with innovations, inside and out. But what really matters is that it delivers consistently brighter and more colorful images than last year's models.
Samsung has been using quantum dots in their top TVs for a few years now. For QLED, Samsung refined that approach with metal-based quantum dots that deliver a wider color palette, increased light efficiency, and greater durability.
QLED TVs deliver improved "color volume" capabilities compared to previous models. Color volume is a new way of talking about color performance that factors in picture brightness. Until now, you'd typically lose some color accuracy as the TV's picture got brighter. But QLED maintains full color accuracy and saturation at any brightness level. Colors pop like they do in real life.
With a picture this vibrant, you'll want to feed the QN75Q7F the highest quality signals you can find. Hands down, the best available 4K source is a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Hollywood will release hundreds more movies on Ultra HD Blu-ray this year, and most of those discs will also be HDR-enhanced. There are 4K web streaming options, too, including Netflix®, Amazon Instant Video, and Vudu. Many of their 4K offerings also feature HDR.
But you don't need native 4K content to be knocked out by the QN75Q7F's picture. Samsung's engineers made 4K upconversion a top priority while developing this set's video processing circuitry. UHD Upscaling automatically upconverts any signal to match the screen's 4K resolution. All your current video sources will look better than ever.
Samsung has a nifty way of simplifying hookup, especially if you plan to wall-mount your TV. Instead of connecting your Blu-ray player, cable box, and other video sources to the TV itself, you connect them to the compact One Connect switching hub, which comes in the box with the QN75Q7F. A single super-thin cable connects the hub to the TV, for a clean, uncluttered look. Both the TV panel and One Connect have their own power connections.
When it comes to smart TV features, Samsung's set of streaming video and music apps is hard to beat. And new, improved iOS® and Android® apps will let you receive live notifications from the QN75Q7F and help you locate content.
The smart remote's built-in microphone and the TV's voice control function really simplify everyday use. Your voice is all you need to turn the TV on or off, change channels, or adjust the volume. You can also navigate menus and launch apps, all without taking your eyes off the TV screen.
Unsure if your network can handle demanding tasks like 4K streaming? Check out our wireless router buying guide. If you haven't upgraded your hardware in the last few years, a new router will offer big improvements in range and speed.

This is one great TV. Pictures are so vivid and sharp. Setup is simple, and I can use one remote for all. Love it
Cons: None yet
Great picture, highly recommend the Samsung wall mount.
Awesome picture very satisfied spend the extra money , colors jump out at you Smart remote takes awhile to get use too, but overall great tv!!
I am a long time return and future Crutchfield purchaser (long before the internet, when it was only mail-order from the catalog). I bought this tv from a local discount warehouse, but I am hoping Crutchfield will publish this review so others can see my feedback. Not worth the extra money over a "standard" ultra-HD tv. Side-by-side, in a store, you can see a difference, when they are running the retail demo programs, but in real life, I overspent by $2000. I am a big Samsung fan, currently own 4 flat screens (others are 43 to 55"), all are excellent. I previously was an installer of (among other things) tv services for one of the major providers and have experience with all brands and many setups. Running Netflix on the tv and my laptop at the same time side, there is no difference. Wathching 4k UHD dvd's, a regulat UHD tv gives you everything you need. Also, the OneConnect box and the long, thin fiber (fragile) connection to the tv is nonsense. All that is needed to connect a tv is a single HDMI cable to take the output from a AV receiver. Disappointed that I bought the hype.
Pros: Beautiful, no-bezel, its a Samsung
Cons: No better than a standard UHD TV but twice as expensive, OneConnect box is an unnecesary additional thing to plug in and find a spot for with all the other equipment, Delicate fiber connection from OneConnect to TV has custome connectors and will probably be expensive to replace if necessary.
Great picture, good size, small bezel, very easy to purchase from Crutchfield
Love it! Amazing, bright picture. 2018 Winter Olympics couldn't be better, unless we were actually there. It is definitely smarter than our last smart TV.
GREAT PRODUCT. GREAT TO DEAL WITH.
Amazed with how great picture looks om this tv, very eady to install on wall mount, highly recommend this tv
Love our Samsung 75" QLED 4K Smart TV. We set everything up ourselves and are using the TV stand initially. Will have a professional install the wall mount. The picture is incredible. The one connect box made things simple. We plan on going to all streaming using the YouTube TV app provided by the Smart TV to get all local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC stations plus all the sports. So we will be watching everything over Internet/WiFi. We also are looking at purchasing a Samsung sound bar with wireless speakers and sub wolfers. The only device we have connected is an Apple 4K TV hooked to the one connect box which offer mostly redundant apps to the Smart TV. Life is good
Pros: The Smart TV apps proved will allow to go to all streaming without expensive TV services.
Cons: This really isn't a con but a heads up. We noticed the picture was brighter during the day but darker in the evening which we didn't like. We disable the feature that adjusted the TV picture based on ambient light in the room in the settings and love the result.
Great TV. Excellent delivery and working with Crutchfield.
Pros: Set up. Quality. Picture. Sound. Connection box great idea and easy to understand. Very happy with purchase.
Cons: Heavy when comes in box. Need two people to carry and set up.
Very happy with the TV .... bright colors and contrast.... watching football was never this good. cruthfield was good too...timely delivery and good support...
Cons: None so far
Incredible picture and very easy menus to navigate for settings. The small simple remote is great and a nice change. We have it mounted above the fireplace and it looks clean with the very thin bezel, could not be happier with the purchase.
Pros: Picture, thin bezel, easy menus, remote
I love this TV! I love the One Connect box! Picture is AMAZING! You can spend less for this sized tv but the QLED technology is worth every penny. Installation was straight forward. I had a neighbor help me lift this thing, its far too much for one person to handle alone. Other reviewers have knocked the one connect box, I happen to love it! No more fishing multiple HDMI cables through the wall, just one thin 1/8" flexible fiber optic cable. The one connect box sits in my equipment cabinet and all my devices hook up with very short 4k HDMI cables. Others have said the fiber optic cable isnt fire rated for in wall use- thats just silly. By its very nature there is no power in a fiber optic cable. I ran mine through the home builder supplied 2" orange plastic conduit with no hesitation. Its very lonely in that raceway that used to be packed full of audio and HDMI cables. The picture is stunning, the smart interface makes a Roku obsolete. I have tossed 3 Roku's in the trash as I replace my old tv's around the house with 4k's. Roku is in trouble folks- these new generation tv's now have very slick and very fast smart hubs to access all your streaming services. Couldnt be happier with my 75" Samsung QLED TV.
Pros: Excellent Picture, Excellent Sound, Excellent Streaming Interface, Excellent remote control (voice operated) remote.
Cons: Expensive! (But worth it)
Love it! Easy to use and LOVE the one remote for everything!!!!
Pros: Clear picture, easy to use, huge screen, etc.
First of all, I must say that the picture on this TV is fantastic. The resolution from 4K sources is incredible and there is very little blur on the screen from fast moving action. However, I don't like the need for the "One Connect Box" that must be used to interface HDMI based sources to the TV. Instead of being able to simply use HDMI cables plugged into the back of the TV, you must plug HDMI cables into a "One Connect Box" that is supplied with the TV. This "One Connect Box" must then be plugged into an AC outlet in addition to plugging in the TV. Them HDMI cables are plugged into the "One Connect Box" which then sends the signal to the TV through a slim fiber optic cable. The problem with this approach is that the slim fiber optic cable is not fire code rated for in-wall use (this issue is covered in other forums on the INTERNET). I hired a professional installation team to install the TV on a wall in my living room that was already set up with an in-wall installation kit that provided for TV power and for hiding cables inside the wall. The professional installation team refused to install the fiber optic cable inside the wall because of fire code issues. Their solution was to mount the "One Connect Box" on the wall using Velcro behind the wall mounted TV and run power inside the wall to both the TV and the "One Connect Box" and run an HDMI cable inside the wall from my Onkyo AVR to the "One Connect Box". Unfortunately, the "One Connect Box" kept falling off the wall
Pros: Incredible picture
Cons: poor design with respect to connecting video sources to it

Note: The UHDA is a global coalition comprised of more than 50 member companies - including leading film studios, consumer electronics manufacturers and content distributors - and was established to foster and promote the Ultra HD ecosystem and benefits of Ultra HD technology. - Please use a premium high speed HDMI cable with 18 Gbps and above to view 4K HDR content.
Q/4K Elite Black: The Samsung QLED TV incorporates several unique technologies to bring out enhanced detail with deeper blacks, letting you see greater contrast & detail even in the shadows of dark scenes.
Peak Illuminator Pro: The TV's Peak Illuminator Pro lets you see extended shades of colors that pop, with greater dynamic range, improved contrasting detail, and darker scene highlights that come alive.
MR 240 + Auto Motion Plus: The Samsung QLED TV combines its 120Hz native panel refresh rate with Samsung's proprietary MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus image processing technology, which is faster and more responsive than conventional image processors, as it interpolates intermediate frames to smooth out the image. MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus helps to remove blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panel and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion.
HDMI 2.0a Inputs: The Samsung QLED TV is equipped with four HDMI 2.0a inputs (located on the One Connect) to connect to your Blu-ray player, Satellite/Cable receiver, Game Console, and/or AV receiver. Any HDMI input can also be used to connect a PC to this TV. All HDMI inputs are 4K compatible, HDCP 2.2 compliant, and support 4:4:4 color subsampling.
Note: This TV does not contain analog composite or component video inputs.
Picture Controls: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture. The TV's picture adjustments can be made for a particular AV input or for all inputs.
Built-in HDTV Tuner: The included One Connect features a built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Clear QAM tuner, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals (up to 1080i); subscription still required to receive cable channels. A single RF-type coaxial input is use to connect an external indoor/outdoor antenna (sold separately).
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 2 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, or HDMI inputs to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 2 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary.
Optical Digital Output: The TV's optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital or DTS (when available), as well as DTS Neo 2.5 or 2ch PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital or DTS when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, HDMI inputs, or USB ports.
Note: This TV does not contain any analog audio inputs or outputs.
DTS Premium Sound: The Samsung QLED TV employs DTS Premium Sound processing which will decode DTS-encoded content, such as TV programming, Blu-ray movies, and streaming media, as well as processes stereo content to deliver an optimized virtual surround sound experience with enhanced bass response, clear dialog, and consistent volume levels through the TV speakers.
Equalizer: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 7-band EQ (100, 200, 500, 1k, 2k, 5k, & 10k Hz) for a more customized sound; or simply choose from the following EQ Preset Modes - Standard, Optimized, or Amplify.

It shows you how to connect various external devices such as cable boxes, satellite receivers, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and more using on-screen images.

Samsung's Quantum Dot technology delivers a wider color palette, resulting in their brightest, most color-accurate TV picture yet.
Have been impressed with the picture quality of Samsung LCD-LED TVs. I believe they are top of the line. With minimal cost difference between this model with QLED and the next lower cost model, the better color quality and 1.5 times more brightness of the QLED model seemed well worth it. [ Mike Feb 04, 2018 ]

The QLED performance when viewed side by side with other TV's is clearly superior. I like separating my video connections with the One Connect Hub which will make it very simple to make changes to source connections inside my AV cabinet (rather than having to disturb the TV hanging on the wall). Our room also has a lot of light / windows, we have not noticed any issues that have caused us any concern at all in ambient light situations. Direct sunlight I'm sure would be an issue but we close our solar shades for that certain 30 minute time of day the sun is beating straight in through the window. I have owned plasmas's in the past that had glare issues. Not noticing anything problematic here on this one. Perhaps our brains just instantly ignore the reflection and focus on the picture? I think there is some glare, but honestly it is not a big deal. [ james Feb 02, 2018 ]
No reflection issues at all. I have the TV on a wall right next to a full window wall and have no issues. [ Douglas Feb 02, 2018 ]
Yes it is great,i love this TV [ Merlyn Feb 02, 2018 ]
We have the QLED TV in the living room between two windows. No direct ight shines on the TV. We have had no issues with reflections, but we don't have a room full of windows. We also live in the woods so I don't know that I can give you a proper answer because of all the shade we have. [ GERALD Feb 02, 2018 ]
