TVs this large sometimes struggle to maintain consistent color and contrast across the entire screen. Samsung's 75" QN75Q8FN makes it look easy. What sets it apart from most other TVs is its full-array LED backlight with local dimming (FALD). That's the gold standard for backlighting technology.
The QN75Q8FN's LED grid has hundreds of independently controllable "zones," to deliver precise lighting across the entire screen. The combination of deep blacks and brilliant highlights creates a stunning sense of realism — especially when viewing HDR-enhanced content. This TV also has Samsung's most effective anti-reflective screen ever.
Samsung continues to push the boundaries of color with the latest quantum dot technology in the QN75Q8FN. They found a way to tune the output of the quantum dots so that they produce purer reds and greens, allowing the TV to cover nearly 100% of the P3 color space — the standard for digital cinema and HDR movies. QLED TVs can reproduce over a billion shades.
The QN75Q8FN also has outstanding "color volume." Color volume is a way of measuring color performance that factors in picture brightness. Most TVs lose some color accuracy as the picture gets brighter. But QLED maintains full color accuracy and saturation at any brightness level. Colors pop like they do in real life.
With a picture this vibrant, you'll want to feed the QN75Q8FN the highest quality signals you can find. Hands down, the best available 4K source is a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Hollywood will release hundreds more movies on Ultra HD Blu-ray this year, and most of those discs will also be HDR-enhanced. There are 4K web streaming options, too, including Netflix®, Amazon Instant Video, and Vudu. Many of their 4K offerings also feature HDR.
But you don't need native 4K content to be knocked out by the QN75Q8FN's picture. Samsung's engineers made 4K upconversion a top priority while developing this set's video processing circuitry. UHD Upscaling automatically upconverts any signal to match the screen's 4K resolution. All your current video sources will look better than ever.
Samsung's slender OneRemote is one of the smartest remotes we've seen. It automatically detects, identifies, and controls your connected devices and content. Use the OneRemote's microphone to access Bixby, the TV's built-in intelligent voice assistant. Bixby makes it easy to change channels, search for content, or even ask about the weather, using only your voice. Just click voice recognition on your remote or smartphone, and Bixby is at your command.

Average Customer Review(s):
Great TV. Beautiful picture.
Pros: Excellent price. Crutchfield is excellent to deal with.
Agree with all the other positive reviews re picture quality, is stunning. I reluctantly marked down a star for the remote klutz and especially for the Samsung audio processsing that makes my sound bar useless.
Cons: Samsung specific audio pass thru
Could not have made a better purchase. Set up went quickly and pretty error free. Once you get the hang of all point and click operating the menu is quick. The draw back with point and click is that some times you have to click many, many times to get through to where you want to go. Should have some kind of Tab to move 5 over rather than click click click click click. But worth the picture. Apps work great / YouTube/internet/Pandora/even Amazon music which I could not get through Roku. Programs the local Over the air channels without a flaw. But the picture - fantastic
I bought the TV last week. Just a great picture! One problem I have is with the audio. Have a sound bar and it is hooked up with optical cable. Sound gets chucky or distorted and I have to change channels and problem goes away. I didn't have this problem with the sound bar or the cable hooked to the TV. Called the Crutchfield Tech team. What a wast of my time!! Didn't help solve the problem just said change cable. Didn't try to solve the issue at all. Great picture just a problem with the sound.
We have had the TV for a little over a month now. Everyday my wife says WOW! She is not normally a "videophile" but really loves the picture over our plasma, which was fried by lightning. Must say, I have to agree.
Pros: Everything I expected from this TV. No complaints.
Fabulous Picture quality. Motion is very smooth with no jitter. Picture quality is almost as good as my LG OLED. Watching sports is better then being at the stadium. Now for the negatives. The optical and HDMI Arc will only pass 5.1 audio to an Amp. Samsung should have included eArc which passes 7.1 and Dolby Atmos. No Dolby Vision support. Not sure if this will ever be addressed by Samsung, but a TV that cost over $3k should support all HDR formats. My last issue deals with the remote. I have a second Samsung TV in my man cave. The two TV's are 10 feet apart. Both TV's are controlled by either remote. No way to change the IR codes on the TV. Samsung offer an IPhone app to control the Sets. Only problem is the App does not support the QLED TV's. Overall I'm very satisfied with the QLED Tv. Very happy I went with the 75" version.
Pros: Picture, Size.
Cons: Remote, Lacks eArc, No Dolby Vision. CostCrutchfield response on 10/9/2018 We appreciate the review. Our Tech Support specialist, Mike, reached out to Robert and discovered he was using the iPhone app for Samsung's 2017 TV lineup. Samsung has released the new SmartThings mobile app to control 2018 TVs and other connected Samsung SmartThings gear. Problem solved.
Wow! Wasn't planning on stepping up to the Q8, but an amazing sale sealed the deal. Crutchfield is so easy to deal with, and one click and 3 days later, I am ready for football season. This television is beyond excellent. Image quality, colors, and blacks are all amazing.
Pros: Great picture, great features, and a great price
Better than hoped for. We had a backlit local dimming set that died, permitting this shopping expedition for a new one, that ended at Crutchfield, and this model. Wanted the backlit Samsung, for the brighter nits level it can do in our sometimes bright room (overcome reflections) and the local dimming to get better detail in dark scenes. Watching an action movie in the dark with this, all the better with HDR content, effects like Thor's thunderbolts lash out very brightly while the dark background details remain impressively watchable too. Dark sets in The Matrix UHD version enter the story, and the color variation, (gamut!) in scenes with such content is pretty amazing. Admittedly, an OLED might have been better in most of these ways, excepting the maximum nits that a backlit QLED can do, BUT we have computer sources feeding it (burn in worry with OLED) and of course $$$. To see 4K resolution you have to be close or have a very big screen. Same size OLED was easily twice the money.
Pros: -Color variation amazing -Great dark levels -Overcomes a bright room and reflecting light sources with high brightness -Awesome remote -Sound better than our previous sound bar -Connected to everything we had attached to the precision TV and programmed itself (remote too) automatically without the least effort. -The two different computers, a Fire TV, and Xbox One all displayed precisely wall to wall on the Samsung screen with no fiddling in display adapter settings etc. Just worked.
Cons: -Probably you would want to adjust the picture mode for watching at night (to movie mode I guess), because this can throw a lot of light, which isn't good for sleeping just afterward. -No longer have a "source" button on our remote to ease changing inputs, which we often do. Maybe there is an easy way, using the Bixby thing or some other ease of use thing we didn't discover yet. Out of the box, you may find yourself going a menu to achieve that.

QLED TV: Samsung's QLED TV utilizes Quantum Dots along with Samsung's Q-Engine to produce an immersive viewing experience with a wide range of color, exceptional contrast, and accurate detail. Quantum Dots are nano-sized, cadmium-free, finely tuned particles that turn light into the brilliant billion plus colors you experience on QLED TVs. Quantum dots are inorganic particles that resist wear out, so you can enjoy superb picture quality for years. As some TVs age, you may see that colors are less vibrant. QLED TVs are built to last and provide a vibrant picture even after long periods of time. Samsung's metal alloy quantum dot pixels feature inorganic materials that are engineered for durability and resistance to fading.
Q-Engine: Samsung engineers developed the exclusive Q-Engine, a powerful processor that optimizes your content for 4K clarity, color, and HDR in real time.
Q HDR Elite: Q HDR Elite was created by combining Samsung's QLED and HDR10+ technology to give you a wider range of brightness and contrast, bringing all the picture nuances to life. As a result, you'll see colors in movies and shows that "pop", just as the director intended-in stunning high dynamic range (no more details hidden in the shadows).
10-Bit LCD Panel w/ Ultra-Wide Viewing Angle: With a 10-bit panel, Samsung's QLED TVs are capable of displaying tons of colors with fine steps of gradation. With so many more colors to express, you'll see a picture that is more detailed and natural when compared to conventional 8-bit panels. The Samsung QLED TV also offers an ultra-wide viewing angle, so practically any seat in the room can deliver an exceptional viewing experience.
Full Array Backlight + Ultra Black Elite Technology: Smartly controlled zones of the QLED TV's Full Array LED Backlight System adjust automatically to reveal detail and depth from ultra black to pure white. The QLED TV also utilizes Samsung's Ultra Black Elite technology which consists of an outer layer of nano-sized ridges along the LCD panel to better absorb or re-direct light which in turn prevents reflection and glare. The Ultra Black Elite feature further enhances contrast and preserves deep blacks and color richness in brighter room light settings.
HDR (High Dynamic Range): The Samsung QLED TV features the ability to provide a premium High Dynamic Range (HDR) experience, with a higher level of contrast between light and dark images. HDR delivers a much higher level of contrast between light and dark to produce an image that is more realistic and closer to what the content creator imagined. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth. In addition to supporting the standard HDR10 format, the Samsung QLED TV also supports HDR10+ and HLG; as well as HDR+.
MR 240 + Auto Motion Plus: The Samsung QLED TV combines its 120Hz native panel refresh rate with Samsung's proprietary MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus image processing technology, which is faster and more responsive than conventional image processors, as it interpolates intermediate frames to smooth out the image. MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus helps to remove blur and judder from scenes with large amounts of rapid movement to provide a clearer picture. MR 240 & Auto Motion Plus reduces blur so that action movies, sports and video games have enhanced clarity. Advanced panel and unique backlight technology combine with proprietary algorithms to reduce the response time and yield a more accurate image reproduction with faster onscreen motion.
HDMI 2.0b Inputs: The Samsung QLED TV is equipped with four HDMI 2.0b inputs to connect to your Blu-ray player, Satellite/Cable receiver, Game Console, and/or AV receiver. Any HDMI input can also be used to connect a PC to this TV. All HDMI inputs are 4K compatible, HDCP 2.2 compliant, and support 4:4:4 color subsampling. Please use a premium high speed HDMI cable with 18 Gbps and above to view 4K HDR content.
Notes: This TV does not contain analog composite or component video inputs.
Picture Controls: You can make the following adjustments for an optimum picture. The TV's picture adjustments can be made for a particular AV input or for all inputs.
Built-in HDTV Tuner: The TV features a built-in over-the-air HDTV (ATSC) and Clear QAM tuner, so you don't need a separate set-top box to receive and decode over-the-air HDTV/SDTV or unencrypted Digital Cable signals (up to 1080i); subscription still required to receive cable channels. A single RF-type coaxial input is use to connect an external indoor/outdoor antenna (sold separately).
ARC (Audio Return Channel): The Audio Return Channel within the television's HDMI 4 input enables the TV, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an A/V receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the television to your A/V receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the television. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the TV. ARC allows audio from the TV tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, or HDMI inputs to be heard through your ARC compatible AV receiver via the television's HDMI ARC input.
Note: Both the television and the receiver must support ARC for this function to work properly. When connecting an A/V receiver that is compatible with Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect it to the TV's HDMI 4 input. If connecting a system that is incompatible Audio Return Channel (ARC), an additional audio connection via Digital Audio Out (Optical) is necessary. The TV's speakers are muted when using ARC function.
Optical Digital Output: The TV's optical digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital (when available) or 2ch PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from a digital broadcast channel through the tuner, network apps, HDMI inputs, or USB ports. When the TV's optical digital output is selected, the TV's speakers are muted. DTS multichannel audio formats are not supported.
Note: This TV does not contain any analog audio inputs or outputs.
Equalizer: You can manually adjusts the TV's built-in 7-band EQ (100, 200, 500, 1k, 2k, 5k, & 10k Hz) for a more customized sound; or simply choose from the following EQ Preset Modes - Standard, Optimized, or Amplify.
Audio Delay: The Audio Delay function corrects audio/video mismatch, when watching TV or video, and listening to a digital audio output using an external device such as an AV receiver. You can adjust the audio delay from 0ms to 250 ms.
Wireless Audio Connectivity: The Samsung TV provides wireless surround connectivity to compatible Samsung soundbars and speakers via WiFi. You can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to a set of Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth powered speakers.
Note: You cannot use the WiFi Surround and Bluetooth Audio feature simultaneously (you must choose one or the other).

Note: A dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router or better is recommended For 4K streaming. Samsung recommends a home network connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps for standard definition, 10 Mbps for high definition, and 20 Mbps for ultra-high definition.

You can enjoy a variety of content from various downloaded applications - such as movies, TV shows, music, news, sports, and weather (subscriptions and purchase fees will apply).
- 4K & HDR network streaming requires a network speed of 20Mbps or greater. A wired Ethernet connection is recommended over a wireless WiFi connection for better performance. If you desire a WiFi connection, then use a dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router (or better) for 4K & HDR streaming. Make sure the Samsung television has the latest software/firmware updates installed.
