Love it !
The Samsung is working well so far. The disc loads quickly and the menu is simple to navigate through. First experience with a Samsung product..
Pros: Quick loading - Simple menu - Nice selection of apps to choose from and download.
Cons: None so far. i have not used it enough to give it 5 stars yet
I am late to the bluray scene and with this being my first bluray player I am very happy. The load time from my older samsung dvd player is better and the picture of the bluray is a nice improvement. I was happy with the price and combined with Crutchfield's fast shipping and customer service this is why it is a 5 star rating.
Pros: Great improvement from my old player, quick loading, nice web and user interface, excellent picture
Cons: I do not care for the button placement being on top of the dvd player. The buttons on the player are basically useless to me.
Significant upgrade, excellent suggestion from Crutchfield advisor. We did not need the 3D, but the Bluray pictures was significant improvement. Netflix was a priority, and it works flawlessly with excellent quality. Loses a star only b/c attempts to run audio out through the optical port (HDMI for the TV only with my old amp) has proven problematic. Most users with a proper HDMI connection will likely have no problem
Pros: Excellent picture from 'net or DVD or Bluray. Plug and play. Good luck historically with Samsung products.
Cons: Build quality is not confidence inspiring, but no worse than any other Blu-ray models where software is likely more important (I have a Samsung DVD player which is bulletproof through much travel, feels much more substantial).
Picture quality is good. Yet to try 3D.
Pros: Value for money Very light weight.
I'm happy so far.
Pros: Small, priced right, easy setup. The build quality is on par with other of players in this price range. The wireless is stable and works well for me.
Cons: Not really a con, but the web interface is cumbersome with the remote. It is usable with the Samsung Smartview app, but I don't know why manufacturers include Internet access on these type of devices anyway.
So far so good! Works great with my Samsung TV. Haven't tried a 3D movie yet.
Pros: As soon as I connected it to my Samsung TV it was paired and ready to go. Easy setup.
Cons: Non so far
Great Unit that matches perfectly with PN60F5500 Samsung Plasma.
Pros: Easy, easy set up. No issues at all!
This Samsung was perfect for my needs: small, second Blu-Ray (for the bedroom), great price and no features were sacrificed. I recommend it.
Pros: See above.
Cons: None that I could see.
Gets the job done
Pros: Performs as promised.
Cons: Cheap quality but you get what you pay for. Controls on top are super sensitive and not convenient for many applications. Fast forward's first setting does not have sound nor play smoothly.
Overall a good player for the money, if you pay less than $100. The build quality is good and the player works well with blue ray DVDs.. I have not checked the 3D performance.
Pros: Unit comes up to speed quickly the picture is great the controls are easy to use (cannot put anything on top since that is where the controls reside) Easy to use Wireless connection set up is well done The wireless key board capability is a nice touch
Cons: The wireless connection screen is poorly set up and slow compared to my other BD players. The internet connection has a really big pointer that is difficult to use even with a wireless keyboard.
I would rate this a zero, except that it does function, at times. Cosmetically, unit is hideous to look at and of horrendous build quality. Unit weighs in the range of a handful of discs....hmmmmmm. Buttons on top are not buttons, just highly touch sensitive and useless. Unless you leave unit by itselt on top of cabinet, etc. you WILL constantly turn unit off when meaning to eject, etc. Speaking of, this unit loves to turn itself on and off.....by itself or when you in the middle of a great movie. The wifi is useless, as it constantly disconnects. Interesting that wireless TV, two wireless computers, two phones and numerous guest devices had no problem, while this unit is unable to stay connected. On a seperate note, it also locked me out apps such as Redbox and Netflix. Turned device off and immediately opened apps via TV/Computer/Phone. Beware if you are childless and a Netflix user - the interface forces you to choose between regular and child versions each time you access. The entire experience is disgusting - Samsung gives you a few big boxes and a few more smaller boxes to choose from. The only difference between this and the look of an Atari 2600 is that the graphics are smoother with the Samsung. Should you save half a movie for tomorrow, you will most likely have to search for where you left off. Turn the "BD" garbage off - unit will constantly pause to search for content that does not exist. Spend the $ and buy quality, which Samsung is not.
Pros: It will play a disc, but so does my 15 year old unit....and with much less fuss. It will allow you to use some popular apps, when it feels like it.
Cons: Terrible build quality, horrible interface, extremely poor wifi, highly glitch prone. Do yourself a favor, do the research and buy quality. Samsung is all about pumping units out for the masses. Their customer service is non-existent - period. They blame any reason you call them on everything but their product. To appease you, they may assign a number and promise to call back....which does not occur. Referring to other Samsung experience besides this here. Two words - DON'T BUY!
There was much to like about the Samsung F5900: It loaded fast, image was excellent, user interface was good. I went with the Samsung even though I have had good experience with a Sony S5100 in the same location (rarely dropped signals, usually 720P picture, occasionally 1080P or 480P). However I have Samsung TV in the room where I wanted the device. I got the F5900 not just for DVDs but to stream videos also and alas it did not do good job in my location. I use a range extender to reach the room with the TV and reception is fine on a Macbook Pro. However the F5900 kept dropping the signal so I had to return it. As always, Crutchfield is a great place to do business and the return was painless.
Better machine then expected a nice surprise.
Pros: Came as part of a TV purchase free is always good
Cons: none so far
So Far, the dvd player is running smoothly. Internet connection is a bit slow and the cursor navigation is cumbersome to use on the web.
Pros: Smooth operating dvd player
Cons: cumbersome web navigation
Its a smart blue ray player, have played blue rays on it a couple of times, works fine. Don't use it for Smart capabilities, since my Tv is smart. I gave it an extra star cause I got it included with a tv that i bought, cant beat free.
This product is a very good product and easy to setup and use.
Pros: Easy setup and it has all the appps I need
Even thou I do not own a 3D TV I moved up to this model for the better processers and speeds it delivers. Connected to my wi-fi in a matter of seconds. My wife loves the fact she can run Pandora thru this. We are hard wired to our Denon receiver but Pandora freezes of will not load. Not a problem yet with this unit. Video and audio playback are great. Have not Netflix yet because I prefer the sound and picture quality the disc provide. Internet surfing not very fast but I did not buy this for that reason.
Pros: Easy to use, loads disc faster than my Panasonic BR. wi-fi
Cons: web surfing but not worth rating it lower for this
Grate unit easy to use ,loved it.,
Pros: easy set up
I bought this based on Crutchfield customer reviews which I dont trust so much so after my purchase. I still think the world of Crutchfield and its customer service just though. First off the wifi connect is hit or miss I purchased it for the wireless capabilities in the first place it has a hard time staying connected although no other wireless device in my house has any issues. Second the drive motor for the disc player is unacceptably loud. I owned a cheap phillips dvd player that was quiet as a mouse. I expected better build quality from a unit at this price. I thought maybe I got a dud until I was on another website and saw several reviews for this unit with the same issues. I just wonder why none of Crutchfield's customers had these problems? Anyway if you are not bothered by those issues its not a bad unit but I would probably spend a few dollars more and shoot for something better.
Pros: looks good ,lots of features
Cons: Loud disc drive motor, Hit or miss wifi connection.
Good picture quaility, quick set-up and easy to use. Not a standard size dvd player (smaller), awakard design with play buttons on top, cannot stack any components. Samsung tv and Samsung blu-ray player talk (turns the other on).
Pros: nice bright led bright display when unit is on to display movie elapased time, picture quaility is very good with HDMI hook-up in to my Samsung 55" 6300 LED TV, cheap price $99.
Cons: no analog audio, only HDMI and optical so if you have a intergrated amp without optical input you will need to to add external DAC with Toslink to play through external speakers. May not be an issue for many who have newer AVR receivers with HDMI. But I am using a Yamaha A-S500 and will soon buy the Marantz PM-6005 (which has built in DAC). Top mounted control hard to see and unit cabinent is smaller, not standard size.
Works as promised and blue ray is great.
Pros: Easy to use and basic
Cons: Power on top is sensititve
Samsung customer service never has a technical answer and never returns a call. They are just too large and too diversified. I probably update yearly on all my electronics. NEVER Samsung again.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 1/15/2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Very easy to install. I only needed I HDMI cable to hook up to my Denon receiver, then plug it in.
Pros: Nice quality for the price.
Cons: The buttons on top are a little hard to find in a dimly lit area.
This is replacing a Pioneer Blu-Ray that was just taking too long to load a DVD. My first impression focused on how compact this player is compared to the Pioneer. It is about 1/3 the size. I am really impressed how quickly this DVD player loads and the quality of the picture and sound. I have an older Samsung 55 inch plasma TV that is not 3D, but it doesn't seem to matter. Easy to connect to the home WiFi. I have all of the apps loaded (simple) and am just starting to use them. Remote is simple and intuitive to use. It is hooked up to a Denon AVR 1910 and thanks to the Crutchfield Tech who helped me solve my AnyNet issue quickly and easily.
Pros: Inexpensive, quickly loads, provides a great picture and sound
Cons: None yet
Does everything the way it is supposed to - but so does all the competition
Pros: Easy, intuitive setup
Cons: Cannot change the screensaver when using Pandora. All you get is the Samsung logo unless you hit a key on your remote. If you like to see the artist continuously, tough luck!
Does everything I need and then some. Plays music cds, homemade video dvds, connects to my wireless so I can play Pandora, etc. Love it and very easy to use.
Pros: Everythings great so far.
Cons: None at all
very good 3D player I love how 3D movies play, just awsome.
Pros: cool design superb quality image.
Cons: it takes a few tries sometimes to play that movie but once it plays it it is superb.
works great but if i stop a movie and shut the machine off then start back up it does not go to where i stopped it goes back to the beginning and i can't figure out how to set up the wireless for netflix?
Cons: maybe i'm stupid and don't know jack about electronics!!
Love the small size and the remote. DVD player was easy to set-up and connect to the internet. Loved the NETFLIX button on the remote. We do not have TV so we only watch Netflix, movies or connect to the internet wireless. We also use the DVD player to connect to Pandora. I would recommend this player to anyone.
Pros: Small size, easy set-up, friendly remote. Picture quality is excellent.
Cons: None so far.
This is a great product and the price was good too. Crutchfield got it to me fast and in perfect condition.
Everything about this player works well, as one would expect for a Samsung product.
Pros: Top control is simple and easy to use.
Fairly simple to set up and operate, but picturewise, I can't see any difference between it and my old DVD upconverter. Fair amount of apps preloaded and more to choose from.
Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Doesn't play dvd's any better than a dvd player.
Well, it's a Blue Ray player. I chose this one as a match to my Samsung TV and it works well together. I thought the control buttons being on the top were an interesting location and seemed nice. However, I've discovered that if you stack the unit in a cabinet, or below other components, the buttons can be hard to access and see. Worse, you may accidentally turn on the player without intending to when accessing other equipment. A bit annoying.
Pros: Does what it does well, has nice online features, small and light
Cons: button location is not ideal for all setups
An awesome Blu-ray player, it synced right with my Samsung TV. The touch buttons are pretty neat too. Can't wait to try the 3D on it.
Pros: Compact, sleek and very high tech with the ability to browse Netflix and other places.
Cons: None so far.
Better than expected. Excellent picture on Samsung TV. Samsung interconnect control has to be refined a bit more. Still need multiple remotes. i.e. there is no eject on TV "universal" remote.
Pros: picture and nice looking piece
Cons: Samsung interconnect
awesome dvd player
Pros: hooking up to old lcd or plasma feels like you have a new smart tv
I replaced a BD-D5500 wireless with the BD-F5900 and have never been happier with my decision. I now have a great BluRay DVD player, and I can directly access Netfliix and Pandora and many other APPS wirelessly.
Pros: Easy of operation in every way.
Cons: I have absolutely no Cons.
Excellent picture quality and easy to set up.... Made Avatar a whole new experience !!!
Pros: Picture and ease of use
Cons: Top mounted controls
Received free with purchase of Samsung UN65F6400 HDTV. My grand kids use it and report it is great and easy to use.
Pros: Free, easy install.
Works like it's supposed to... so far. ...Had a sony before this,... it didn't last a year. To the wise...? Dont buy a sony. Super sharp movie experience. Colors are great and easy to operate. Just put in the disk and it does it all, press play at the beginning of the movie. Just what an electronically challenged guy needs.
Pros: easy install.
Cons: none so far
Great Unit. Easy to install. Works perfectly.
Great picture quality. Light and compact. Only drawback was limited connections with HDMI and digital optical for sound can't be used for browser capability on older TV set. Pleased with purchase.
Just an overall great dvd player.
Was not looking for a high end machine, but something of decent quality and works well. I have not tried all of the features but the internet feature worked well except typing info into the browser was a little cumbersome and ineffecient. For the money I paid, I am happy with it so far.
Pros: cost, features for the price
Cons: internet feature a little cumbersome
Compact design - excellent picture quality on DVDs and movies. Fairly easy set-up and works well with Samsung TV though menue is a little complicated.
Pros: Excellent picture quality - adjustable settings to customize video and audio. Very compatible with Samsung TV - easy set-up. Printed instruction manuals.
Cons: Poor location on top of unit for manual controls - slow loading - menu and instructions somewhat complicated.
This is my first 3D Blu-Ray Player so I really didn't know what to expect. It works Great with my 3D Samsung TV and the 3D is really amazing when viewing a 3D Blu-Ray Video. To me the 2D to 3D conversion (In any TV or player) is really somewhat of a joke. I've haven't seen anything worth watching in 3D mode when using conversion. Maybe somebody will figure out how to upgrade the conversion process so it's worth watching. The smart function works great, but I really don't need it since I already have it on my TV.
Great blue ray player at a great price. Easy to set up, easy to use. Recommend this highly!
Pros: Picture quality, easy set up, value
Have had for just a week but has played everything I put in it. Movies look great and even attached a card reader to the USB port to view pictures and videos I had taken. All worked well even the avchd video files with no complaints. Very happy with this unit so far.
Pros: easy to use and set up. Plays all formats that I have.
This thing is awesome
Rated thee star because not sure if all BR players have the lip sync issue or just this one. Can adjust manually but want to do away with hassle of that. Mthinkit is only on BR and not on DVD. Great picture tough and overall very happy.
As this device was only recently purchased, the performance of this device over the long haul cannot be critiqued. However, this 3D Bluray player loads quickly and interfaces easily with the Samsung LED TV purchased to to with it.
Pros: Good price point for a 3D Bluray player
Cons: So far, none.
The Unit works great. The only complaint I could make is the controls are on the top of unit (in case my remote were to go haywire) and that it is not the standard 17" width for stereo equipment. I have all components in rack, so it looks a little out of place...
Pros: Snap to setup and start watching
Cons: size and button locations
Nice player with great features, especially if you have a Samsung TV. Apps are a nice addition.
Pros: apps, fast disk load
Great value for price.
Good video quality and sound. machine is slow when selecting apps and initiating them. User interface is nice and fairly easy to navigate. My main issue with it is that Samsung has chosen certain preferred apps that are placed on the front page and are uneditable ie Netflix cannot be removed and replaced with amazon. Not a huge problem but would be great if this was an interchangeable option.
Easy to operate, very quiet, great display sizing, and very sleek looking.
Pros: Set up was a breeze, plug in, connect up, pop in disc & your set. Yes, that simple.
Cons: none to think of
beautiful slim design, easy hookup, works perfectly
Outstanding BluRay. I bought this primarily because I wanted to take advantage of its internet capability. I found set up and connecting to my high speed internet connection seamless. The quality of streaming is superb. I did find that I needed to upgrade my router to get the best connection. My only comment it that the Samsung software for Pandora on my older BluRay continuously floats the album cover and song title across the screen. The 5900 does not do that. Instead it floats the Samsung logo. Minor and it probably saves energy, but irritating nonetheless.
Pros: Great picture and ease of setup
Cons: None really
This Blue-ray/3D DVD player interface perfectly with my new Samsung TV? Works great
Pros: Flawless operation! would buy again!
Cons: None that I have seen or experienced!
This player is small ,light and easy to set-up. menu is simple . Player works very well.
Worked good right out of the box.
Pros: Nice look, easy to play discs
Cons: 1. when turned on it takes over my Sony Smart TV, even just to eject a disc. 2. Still haven't figured out how to stream music from my PC to this device, and my stereo. It needs a good audio player/iTunes app.
A 1st class Blu Ray player. You plug it in, set up in 5 minutes and everything just works. Beautiful picture, fast screens, nice remote, easy to use and operate. Wi-fi works great. Digital audio output works great with my soundbar. Many blu ray players did not have this option.
Pros: Fast screens, loads netflix fast, blu ray players have a good picture. Looks sleek. Does not take up much space. Good upconvert on DVD's. Easy to use.
Cons: None so far
I am very pleased with the Samsung BD-F5900. Sleek design, easy set up and produces an excellent picture quality. During the set up process, the unit recognized my network and completing the connection was effortless. I later ran a firmware update through the menu options. It downloaded quickly and updated without any problems. Discs load quickly and the picture quality is impressive. I am very satisfied with this player and the price was right. Outstanding service from Crutchfield. My order was shipped the same day I placed it and packed very well for a safe arrival.
Pros: Quick load, easy to update firmware, great picture quality, easy set up
This Blu Ray player is the best one I've owned out of three. It was so easy to setup the wifi and get the firmware updates. This player is almost like getting a free Apple TV built inside, the YouTube an Netflix apps are great!
Pros: Easy to use, loaded with amazing options and it is compact. Even works with my Panasonic's Viera Link to turn the tv on and off when the player is.
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Great picture quality!! Loads Blu Ray discs fairly quickly. Just hope it lasts longer than my last Samsung, which stopped playing Blu Ray discs after a year and a half. Removed one star because some engineer though it would be wise to place the control buttons ON TOP of the player. Not a good place for the controls when stacking components, even if it is the top component.
Pros: Picture quality. Easy set-up.
Cons: Controls are ON TOP of the player.
Easy to use and hook up. Connects well with a Samsung tv
I have had this unit less than a month, and can not comment on any long term aspects of this 3D Blu-ray Player; nor can I comment on its ability to play Blu-ray 2D or 3D disks, since I have none. The unit installed easily and, so far, it has worked flawlessly. I am awaiting the delivery of several Blu-ray 2D and 3D disks. After these disks arrive, I will update this review,
I bought this since I don't have a "Smart TV" I am very happy with the included apps and browser.
Pros: browser and ability to make my connection "smart"
Needed a Blu-Ray player to pair with my Samsung flat panel TV. Set up out of the box was quick and everything worked. The integration between the player and my TV and the compatibility of the remotes is great, but it is annoying that pressing the eject button on the player turns on the TV. I just wanted to get the disc out - to be fair, there might be a setting, but I haven't looked. Performance, picture is great, and the load times are far better than my 2 year old Toshiba player.
Pros: Does everything expected at a good price.
Cons: Small size means it must be on top of cable boxes or other components. Pressing Eject turns on the TV.
I bought this to replace my other Samsung Blu-ray with Wi-Fi.. The Blu-ray works fine on my old one but the Wi-Fi was failing. This unit has been working fine.
Pros: Good price and good units. It does the job.
Blu Ray Player has an excellent picture. The 3D feature is awesome.
This is my first Blu-Ray player, so I don't have anything to compare it to. My old DVD player died, and I needed something for renting Netflix videos. So far, I like this machine a lot, especially for the price. It does triple duty as a DVD player, a CD music player and a wifi streaming device. The wifi is great, allowing me to stream Netflix movies ... although the Netflix interface is a little strange. It isn't as friendly when it comes to browsing titles as my old Sony Media Player. I haven't used the Web browsing, and can't imagine I ever would. I just discovered two quirks with this machine: When I pause a movie for more than 4-1/2 minutes, pressing the Play button does not resume playback! I called Crutchfield, and the tech didn't know what to do about this. In the end, I searched online and found the solution: You have to press the Enter key to get from the paused state to a state where playback is possible, and then you press the Play button. Very strange and unintuitive design! The second quirk, which I understand is common among Blu-Ray players, is that if you stop a movie and turn off the machine, it doesn't remember where you left off when you resume watching. Apparently, you have to set a "bookmark," which I haven't tried yet. I've read that this has something to do with the programming language of Blu-Ray players. But all in all, I'm satisfied with the price and the features list. And yes, the picture is great!
Pros: Great picture. Wi-fi streaming.
Cons: Weird "Pause" state. Doesn't automatically remember where you left off in a movie.
I'm impressed! It's smaller, lighter, and simpler than a lot of other Blu-ray players out there. I hooked it up to my Samsung LED TV and it looks wonderful. Once I realized that my receiver didn't support passing 3D signals I connected the Blu-ray to my TV directly. Everything synced up and I was able to test 3D performance. I gave a set of glasses to my 6 year-old and she said "It looks like it's right in front of me!"
Pros: Light, Compact, Simple controls
Cons: For the reasons I listed in the Pros section it may seem "cheap" feeling. The flap/door to the USB connection could have been designed much better.
Great system really makes installation easy
Excellent Unit! Easy installation,,out of the box, 2 cords,,, play your discs. Stunning picture from a unit attractively priced with an array of additional functions. And the best part of all,,my call to a Crutchfield technical Excelleadviser who helped me decide on the unit by answering all my questions regarding its functioning with my Bose LIfestyle Surround System plus suggesting additional HDMI and Monster Cable cords which worked perfectly.....
Pros: excellent product, service and advise
Outstanding product, easy setup and off to the movies.
Pros: Great company
Love this dvd player, works great. Easy to operate and thanks for the excellent customer service!
My BD-F5900 Blu-Ray disc player is terrific and well worth the money I paid formit.
Very nice, compact, piece of equipment that fulfills its primary disc playing duty excellently. However, when I tried to establish a WiFi connection problems ensued. Even though my router is only 25' away (with very little infrastructure in between) The F5900 could not maintain a connection. My Roku and my Home Theater Receiver, which are located right next to the F5900, have no problem streaming from the same router. Contacting Samsung technical assistance was little help. They seemed to be totally unfamiliar with this relatively new BR Player, and simply offered "standard" tips for WiFi connection. I finally purchased a Cisco/LinkSys WiFi bridge and attched it to the F5900 via its ethernet port. The bridge is able to maintain a strong WiFi connection, no problem. Minus one star for the weak WiFi, and minus another star for poor technical assistance. BTW, the internet browser is a welcome addition, but its performance is barely acceptable.
Pros: Great little Blu-Ray and DVD player.
Cons: Weak WiFi connection. Technical support was dificult to reach and not very knowledgable about this product.
Bought this with a new Samsung t.v. It seams to work just fine. I have not watched and 3 D movies as of yet. But will in the near future.
Great DVD Player. Easilly pairs with Samsung TV. Small and narrow footprint. Very Happy.
Pros: Easy setup, fits perfectly on top of Fios Cable Box
DVD lived up to all expectations. NO problems. Performed as expected. Bought this one for me. Thinking of getting another one to put in the play room for my granddaughter to use. Very pleased.
Pros: all A++++.
Cons: none known
fantastic player. Easy to set up, good quality picture, even use it to surf with external keyboard and mouse
Pros: Great picture quality, easy to set-up, easy to use
This is a big improvement over the Samsung BD-E5900, which I returned to Crutchfield after it failed to live up to my expectations, but that was another review. This unit is far superior in every way, the Smart-Hub and settings menu have an updated streamlined design which makes the whole user experience better overall. The on board web browser is usable with the remote alone (works GREAT with a wireless keyboard w/ track-pad also) because Samsung added a pointer speed setting, which means when you set it at full speed, the pointer all but flies around the screen so selection and clicking is much faster then on previous models with a browser. In fact all typing and keyboard based operations (network set-up, password entry, etc.) is much faster and simplified due to the new user interface. If you have other Samsung products with Smart features like BD-Wise and Any-net, this is the perfect companion Blu-Ray player. The network sharing and Samsung mirror features are also a great addition for those of us with Samsung smart phones. The disk playback is fast (use fast start feature) and quiet, and the disk tray is also much more smooth and quiet then previous models. The picture quality and 3D images are as good as any I have ever seen, much more along the lines of what I have come to expect from Samsung. I have mine matched with a Samsung HDMI receiver and Samsung 3D TV, along with my Galaxy S3, and this one will be staying right here with me! Fantastic overall Blu-Ray player.
Pros: Size, this is the smallest one I have ever owned. Price, no need to spend more when this one has it all! User interface, best by Samsung to date, in my opinion.
Cons: I would like to see some more speed from the apps when loading from the Smart Hub, some have longer loading cycles then others, but I am really trying to find a "con" with this unit. That's about it!
high quality reproduction in a small and affordable unit. integrates nicely with my other Samsung products and on top of that...It's Smart!

Blu-ray Disc Overview: Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a high-definition disc format designed to take advantage of today's high quality HDTVs. The resolution is up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) and the data transfer rate is up to 40 mbps. Blu-ray Discs and players offer several advantages over the standard DVD format:
Note: Like DVD, BD uses region codes. The region code on your disc must match the region code on your player, otherwise the disc will not play. The BD-F5900 is Blu-ray region A and DVD region 1. Blu-ray Disc uses the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) to prevent unauthorized recording of copyrighted material.
Firmware/Software Upgrade: As Blu-Ray technology continues to evolve, new disc types with enhanced functionality will become available. In order for you to enjoy this new functionality, you will likely be required to update the firmware in your player. These firmware updates will become available for downloading from the Internet. The player's Software Upgrade menu allows you to upgrade the player's software & firmware for these performance improvements & additional services. You can upgrade via Network or USB.
Note: The tested Samsung Blu-ray player contained firmware version BSP-F5900WWB-1003.2 (as of 3/14/2013). Visit the Samsung Download Center for the latest Firmware/Software updates.

USB Port (with ripping): The Samsung Blu-ray disc player features a front-panel USB (type-A) port that allows playback of MP3/WMA audio files, JPEG/PNG still-image files, and MKV video files stored on a USB mass storage class device. Your USB device must be formatted in FAT16, FAT32, or NTFS. The player also allows you to rip CD-Audio to USB. The ripping function converts CD audio from an inserted disc to the MP3 format and saves the converted files on a USB device connected to the Blu-ray player. Note: A USB device consuming more than 500mA requires a separate power supply device for normal operation.
HDMI ver.1.4: The Samsung Blu-ray player is equipped with an HDMI (v.1.4) output. HDMI simplifies A/V connections by carrying video and digital audio all in one cable. The HDMI output resolution can be set to 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p when playing a DVD or Blu-ray Disc; also 1080/24p when playing a compatible BD.

1080/24p: Movies are typically filmed at 24 frames per second and some Blu-ray Discs use the same frame rate. If your TV will accept a 1080/24p signal, the BD-F5900 can pass the signal in its native form, without converting the video.
Video Up-conversion: When connected to your TV using the HDMI output, the BD-F5900 scales the output of a standard DVD signal to HD-compatible 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. The unit also supports 480p and 480i output if your television is not HD-compatible.

Yes, there is always a limit based on the amount of storage space the device has to store the apps. I suspect it's a large number of apps though. [ PATRICK Jan 17, 2017 ]
We have not received any answers from other customers on your question. I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question. [ Jeff Mar 17, 2014 ] Staff
No [ RAYMOND D Mar 14, 2014 ]
Did you mean a VUDU app? The BD-F5900 has an app for VUDU. [ DONALD Mar 13, 2014 ]
Works wonderfully well with my Samsung 8000 series television. Easy to use. Fits nicely on a shelf. No complaints. [ ROBERT L Mar 13, 2014 ]
This DVD player should work fine with the Vzio. The wireless functions are in the player so it doesn't matter which monitor you are using. I have the player going through a Denon receiver which then goes to the monitor. Everything works fine with this configuration and I see no reason why it should not work going directly to a TV set. [ DONALD Jan 03, 2014 ]
sorry I'm not sure, I have it connected to a Samsung tv. I don't see why it wouldn't be compatable. [ EVELYN M Jan 03, 2014 ]
Ruth, It will but why buy a 3d blue ray player unless your vizio tv is a 3d tv [ DAVID Jan 03, 2014 ]
No,so with sharp smart TV .I regret buying this item it is only compatible with Samsung .should have bought just a regular 3D Blu-Ray player. [ RAYMOND D Jan 01, 2014 ]
Yes easy to connect .Easy to use [ VIRGIL O Jan 01, 2014 ]
I do not see any reason not to be compatible. As far as your TV has a HDMI input, it should work fine. I enjoy this blu-ray player for its video quality and other features such as upconverting and regular CD support in addition to quick response. I watch Netflix too using its wireless internet access. [ INTAE Jan 01, 2014 ]
If it has a HDMI input , it will be fine. [ MARK H Jan 01, 2014 ]
yes it is and good picture quality [ YUSUF M Jan 01, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current system. They will be able to pull up your gear and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Dec 26, 2013 ] Staff
