Samsung HT-F6500W with vacuum tube preamp

The HT-F6500W sports a vacuum tube preamp and Class D amplifier for rich, warm sound.

Designed for rich, accurate sound

Samsung included advanced design features for the kind of sound quality that draws you into the on-screen action. All of the system's speakers use woven-glass fiber woofers with phase plugs for accurate response. And the receiver's vacuum tube preamp section is coupled to a high-efficiency Class D amplifier for warm, realistic sound.

Pristine picture and sound with Blu-ray

The receiver's built-in Blu-ray player delivers a stunning high-definition picture that'll look great on your HDTV. It'll also deliver exciting 3D video to a compatible TV when you play 3D Blu-ray discs. This system supports the newest surround sound formats for realistic wraparound sound to match the picture. Dual HDMI inputs give you easy switching between additional sources like your satellite or cable box and game console. A single HDMI output to your TV makes for simple hookup.

Stream and surf

The HT-F6500W lets you stream online movies and music right to your living room via a broadband Internet connection. To get started, just hook the receiver up to your home network with an Ethernet cable or use the built-in Wi-Fi® to make a wireless connection. Samsung's Smart Hub gives you a single convenient entry point for accessing online apps like Netflix®, YouTube™, Hulu Plus™, web browsers, and more.

Easy setup, including wireless rear speakers

You'll be up and running after just a few simple connections. Plug the player/receiver into your TV with an HDMI cable (not included), and connect your front three speakers and the subwoofer using the included speaker wire. Plus, the HT-F6500W has wireless rear speakers to help cut down cable clutter. Just plug the wireless module into an outlet and connect the rear speakers from there. No more finding a hiding place for long runs of wire from the front of the room.

Excellent value

Jimmy L from Fresh Meadows, New York on 3/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a wireless home theater solution for my new room because I did not want to run cables across the floor or tunnel wires through my walls. This system was the perfect answer and it's my first home theater. I've mainly watched rock concerts on it and the 5.1 sounds amazing. Even with 2.1 the front speakers do not disappoint. Some say in their reviews that the bass is not that powerful or the subwoofer "dances" across their floor (LOL) when they are watching something. I have yet to experience either issue. The bass level is just fine for a small room and you could always turn the dB up in the settings if desired. Once you crank the volume up you'll start to feel the floors vibrating! One of my main concerns with a wireless system was if there would be radio wave interference issues. I have a wireless Verizon Actiontec router probably 8 feet from the wireless receiver module of the home theater, but so far no interference problems. The wireless receiver module also comes with a ferrite core that wraps around the power cord to help reduce any possible interference. By no means do I consider myself an audiophile, so this system may not cut it for everyone, but for the price and the included Blu-ray player the Samsung HT-6500W is an excellent value. I would not hesitate recommending this to someone looking to join the home theater club.

Pros: - Easy installation (just follow the simple and easy to read instructions!) - Amazing sound - Great value for a wireless solution - Blu-ray player and smart TV function included - Vacuum tube gives the receiver a beautiful visual appeal - Wireless home theater, wireless internet connection - No wireless interference issues!

Cons: - Everything is high glossy, especially the receiver, which means frequent dusting and a ton of surface scratches - Hard to secure speakers onto stands via screws (not compatible with top-selling Atlantic satellite speakers sold on Amazon unless you use the double-sided tape included). - Only 2 HDMI inputs - Switching between sources on the receiver is a little tedious; it should let you choose default ones you use most instead of cycling through all of them each and every time.

great sound

Great surround sound!!!

Dave&Laura from Boulder, CO on 1/2/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Set up of this system is very easy. The speakers are very small in size, which is a plus for placement options. They rear speakers are powered with a wireless amp, which means you don't need to run wires under the floor. The negative for the small size is sound quality. I would rate sound quality as good, totally in line with the price for this system, not excellent sound. It is a good little system with speakers that won't dominate your room. Netflix and Hulu stream nicely through it.

Pros: Price, small speaker size, set up

Cons: Not really a con, but sound quality is not exceptional - but is good.

Good Product

Anthony from St. Croix US Virgin Islands. on 1/2/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was a very good item. I first tried out the 1 Sub, and also one front speaker and one rear speaker. The sound on just those two speakers were very good. The bass was also incredible as well. I was not able to turn the bass up all the way because it had more than enough power being set to just level 2. The rear speaker worked very good as well. This is a very good home Theater System to own.

Pros: This is a great Home Theater system, the speakers were easy to connect and everything worked good on the first initial setup.

Cons: The only thing I could say about this system is that it would be better if getting around the different features would be a little easier. The remote could have been labeled a little better to move back and forth between the BR and the software applications features of the system. Other than that, it works very well and if a good system. No regrets at all.

Grizzly1 from Oak Creek, WI on 12/2/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have never had a surround sound system or a bluray player. After doing a lot of research and purchasing a new Samsung Smart LED 3D TV this year I went with this after listening to it in a store nearby. Set-up was a breeze and the controller runs both the TV and the surround sound. You can adjust each speaker to the decibel level you want but before even doing that I watched a action movie and WOW! The floor was shaking from all the special effects it was insane. Love it and very happy!

Pros: Easy Set-up, Sounds Amazing, Great price

Cons: Super Shiny surface attracts dust easily

AK-KC from Kodiak, AK on 11/11/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to set up, great sound and simple to use. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the sub woofer could kick a little harder and it would have been nice if it had a longer speaker wire or, even better was wireless. Overall very good sound for the price

Pros: Small, discrete speakers. Easy set up and operation. Great sound

Cons: Sub woofer could kick a little harder. Sub woofer speaker wire could be longer or better yet wireless

Very Good

G H from C-Ville on 10/21/2013

The whole systems was easy to setup. I was unsure of using the Wifi with the system, but it hooked up very easy. The quality of the sound is great. Speaker wires were too short to run the wires along ceiling the way I wanted to, had to buy extra cable to set it up the way I wanted. I was able to hook up its remote to control my TV (I have a Samsung T.V.) so I have just one remote. The cycling of Inputs is a little on the weak side. You have to cycle through one direction on the sound system. If they had a function similar to the Samsung T.v.'s where you can cycle up or down it would be even better. The system looks great with its High gloss finish. I would recommend this to anyone!

Pros: Easy to do the initial setup, great sound quality, wires clearly marked and easy to hook up.

Cons: Because of the way my Living room is set up we couldn't set the speakers up on the walls like we wanted to. Samsung's recommended way was having the wireless receiver behind the couch with the wires running on the ground. We couldn't do it that was, so we had to run the wires along the ceiling

Very pleased with unit .Sounds great ,sets up easy, priced well.Having some trouble with wireless rear speakers. I have to turn them on and off to get them to work. I'll speak with Crutchfield about it.

Pros: Great for the price.

Cons: Wireless speaker issue.

Great Sound and Simple Operation with a Compromise or Two

Kevin from Newport, RI on 9/14/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall, very happy with this item. Great, full sound with multiple "simple" equalizer settings for quick changes to match the media. Easy, straightforward operation. Admittedly, really enjoy the orange glow from the vacuum tube window. Only a couple of complaints. First, switching functions on the system is cumbersome in that you have to cycle through the inputs and can only do it in one direction. Second, when you turn on the system (connected to a Samsung television with Anynet+ enabled), you must wait for the system to initialize, cycle to it's default input of Digital In and then manually cycle through the system functions to finally arrive at the input you want. It's annoying and there is no workaround.

Pros: Great, full sound. Simplified equalizer and sound processing settings. Cool orange glow.

Cons: Cumbersome input switching. Annoying, time consuming power on cycle.

Great Entertainment System that coordinates well with Plasma Samsung TV. Easy to set up and provides great sound. Synced so that the System comes on with the TV. Researched but CR had not reviewed - so limited research material to review. But now that have product in use I am very pleased.

Pros: Great Sound Easy to sync with Samsung TV Very reasonable cost

Cons: Maybe a litte better Base Unit - but for the cost I am very pleased.

Samsung HT-F6500W

Josh from Honolulu, HI on 7/29/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The overall sound quality is better than I expected. For such small speakers, these things pump out a lot of sound. I have a Samsung tv as well, and it linked right up with it, without me having to really do much. The two devices found each other and basically walked me through the short, simple steps to pair them up. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars is the weak subwoofer. It sounds good, and it doesn't overpower the other speakers, which is also good - but it doesn't have that "kick" that a lot of people look for. In my case, that's probably for the best since I live in an apartment... Don't want to anger the neighbors! But I'd like to have the option of turning that bass waaaayyy up, and you just don't have it with this set.

Pros: Great sound. Perfect if you have a Samsung tv. Very good-looking design. Easy to set up. Quality packaging.

Cons: Subwoofer.

Would not work with Proscan TV

Greg from s on 7/8/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very disappointed. Would not sync with my Proscan TV, despite all kinds of excellent customer help from Crutchfield and so-so help from Samsung. Would not play blu-ray on my TV, it kept dropping the signal and blacking out. Went through everything, cables, settings, etc. even a replacement Samsung unit (thanks Crutchfield!!) with no improvement. Ended up sending it back and keeping my 7.1 Yamaha unit with a set of new Polk speakers.

Pros: Sounded good and looked good for the few minutes it worked.

Cons: Would not work with my Proscan TV.

Pretty good system

Kevin from New Jersey on 5/28/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a pretty nice system. I installed it in my basement and it really sounds good. Music sounds very good and all of the intricate highs can be heard with clarity. The sub is not overpowering for action movies but it does the trick. The wireless rear speakers are very convenient and sound great. 3-D playback is fantastic!

Pros: easy set-up very good music sound very good HD and 3-D video playback from blu-ray cool looking tubes

Cons: sub could be more powerful

Review of the Samsung HT-F6500W

Linda from Cambria on 4/29/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The ease of installation is impressive for 5.1 system, at such a moderate price. The Blu Ray function is superb. The wireless rear speakers makes surround sound installation very simple. The tube pre-amp stage makes the sound mellow. I would recommend this system to anyone seeking a surround sound system in this price range.

Pros: Ease of interfacing with satellite TV. Installation simplicity. Good base response.

Cons: Center speaker frequency response range slightly high.

Fantastic right out of the box!

Jim M from Timonium, Maryland on 4/13/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After doing a ton of research looking for an unintrusive (to get it past wifey) home theatre system for her well decorated den I settled on this Samsung unit. I tried the highly rated Yamaha YSP-2200 sound bar ...way to complicated with very ordinary results. I have it paired with a Samsung 55" 8000 Smart TV . This Home Theatre system is an attractive, small (important) very capable system with great features , fabulous surround sound. I'm not sure quite how to describe the sound provided by the vacuum tube pre amp setup but music sounds "SWEET"...especially if you tinker with the settings (easily done with the on screen menus ) customized to you own taste. BTW, I'm no genius at this stuff. It is a bonus if you pair the system with a Samsung Smart TV. Everything becomes mostly seamless and the Samsung features match up automatically for the most part. A word of not get too excited to hear the system and skip the initial setup..DO THE INITIAL won't be sorry because every thing is easy after that with the on screen menus.

Pros: Very attractive with piano black finish very capable speakers Small footprint Super flexible placement Wireless rear speakers Plenty of power Terrific surround sound Simple setup

Cons: Absolutely none!

Disc & USB Compatibility

Disc Compatibility: The Samsung HTF-6500W Blu-ray Home Theater System is compatible with many disc types.

Disc Type Disc Description
Blu-ray BD-ROM, BD 3D, BD-R, BD-RE
CD CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW

Blu-ray Disc Overview: Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a high-definition disc format designed to take advantage of today's high quality HDTVs. The resolution is up to 1920 x 1080 (1080p) and the data transfer rate is up to 40 mbps. Blu-ray Discs and players offer several advantages over the standard DVD format:

  • Better Picture Quality: Blu-ray Disc is a true high-definition format offering video at 720p, 1080i, 1080p, or 1080/24p resolution. While standard DVDs look very good on an HDTV, they don't provide a high-definition signal (not even when you use an up-converting DVD player). Blu-ray Disc delivers an extraordinarily sharp, clean, detailed picture, with deeper, richer colors.
  • Better Sound Quality: In addition to the same multi-channel sound formats you're accustomed to with DVD (Dolby Digital and DTS), Blu-ray Disc offers Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, and uncompressed 7.1 channel PCM.
  • Greater Storage Capacity: What makes Blu-ray Disc's superior picture and sound possible is the much higher storage capacity of Blu-ray Disc discs. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25 gigabytes of data, over five times the amount a standard DVD can hold. Dual-layer Blu-ray Discs hold 50 gigabytes, which equates to nine hours of High Definition or 23 hours of Standard Definition video, plus high-resolution multi-channel audio and the added features and material that require multiple discs with standard DVD.
  • Backward Compatible: To ensure backward-compatibility with your existing library of discs, Blu-ray Disc players use a dual-laser mechanism: a blue laser for playing high-definition Blu-ray Discs, and a conventional red laser for playing DVDs and audio CDs.
Note: Like DVD, BD uses region codes. The region code on your disc must match the region code on your player, otherwise the disc will not play. The HT-F6500W is Blu-ray region A and DVD region 1. Blu-ray Disc uses the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) to prevent unauthorized recording of copyrighted material.

Firmware/Software Upgrade: As Blu-Ray technology continues to evolve, new disc types with enhanced functionality will become available. In order for you to enjoy this new functionality, you will likely be required to update the firmware in your player. These firmware updates will become available for downloading from the Internet. The unit's Software Upgrade menu allows you to upgrade the system's software & firmware for these performance improvements & additional services. You can upgrade in four ways; Internet, USB, Disc, or Downloaded file.

Note: The tested Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System contained firmware version HTB-F6500WWWB-1003.3 (as of 4/2/2013). There was an immediate firmware version update available. Visit the Samsung Download Center for the latest Firmware/Software updates.

Video File Support: The Samsung home theater system supports the following video files recorded onto BD-RE, BD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD-R discs.

Video Codec Resolution Frame Rate Bitrate Audio Codec
H.264 BP/MP/HP 1920 x 1080 6-30 fps 30 Mbps Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS (Core), LPCM, AAC, HE-AAC, WMA, MP3
Motion JPEG

Music File Support: The Samsung HTF-6500W supports the following music files recorded onto BD-RE, BD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-R, and CD-R/RW discs.

Audio Codec Sampling Rates (kHz) Bitrate (kbps)
MP3 (.mp3) N/A up to 320 kbps
WMA (.wma) 8, 11, 16, 22, 32, 44.1, or 48 5-455

Photo File Support: The home theater system supports the following still-image files recorded onto BD-RE, BD-R, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-R, and CD-R/RW discs.

Photo Codec Resolution
JPEG (.jpeg/.jpg/.jpe) 15,360 x 8,640
MPO (.mpo)
BMP (.bmp) 4096 x 4096

Start Up Time: The Samsung HT-F6500W has a start-up time of approximately 9.3 seconds, and takes approximately 21.7 seconds for a Blu-ray disc to begin playback.

Note: The Start Up/Play Back Time tests were started with the Blu-ray Home Theater System initially turned off & in standby mode. The Start Up Time test was stopped when the player's Home Menu screen appeared. The Play Back Time test was stopped when the Blu-ray disc began playback.

Parental Lock: The Parental Lock function works in conjunction with Blu-ray Disc/DVDs that have been assigned a rating which helps you control the types of Blu-ray Discs/DVDs that your family watches. There are up to 8 ratings levels on a disc. The rating levels are protected by a customer user 4-digit password.

USB Port (with ripping): The Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System features a front-panel USB (type-A) port that allows playback of  MP3/WMA audio files, JPEG/PNG still-image files, and MKV video files stored on a USB mass storage class device. Your USB device must be formatted in FAT16, FAT32, or NTFS. The player also allows you to rip CD-Audio to USB. The ripping function converts CD audio from an inserted disc to the MP3 format and saves the converted files on a USB device connected to the Blu-ray system. In addition, the USB port also allows you to perform software upgrades using a USB flash drive. In addition, it can be used to add more local storage for BD-Live content.

Note: A USB device consuming more than 500mA requires a separate power supply device for normal operation.

Video Section

HDMI ver.1.4: The Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System is equipped with a single HDMI (v.1.4) output and dual HDMI (v.1.4) inputs. HDMI simplifies A/V connections by carrying video and digital audio all in one cable. The HDMI output resolution can be set to 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p when playing a DVD or Blu-ray Disc; also 1080/24p when playing a compatible BD. The player's HDMI output also supports 3D video. The two HDMI inputs on the rear-panel of the Blu-ray Home Theater System let you increase the number of HDMI-compatible devices you can connect to your TV. The player will pass video (up to 1080P) and audio (up to 7.1ch) from the HDMI 1/2 inputs to the HDMI output.

Note: There are no analog video inputs or outputs.

1080/24p: Movies are typically filmed at 24 frames per second and some Blu-ray Discs use the same frame rate. If your TV will accept a 1080/24p signal, the built-in Blu-ray Home Theater System can pass the signal in its native form, without converting the video.

DVD Upscaling via HDMI: When connected to your TV using the HDMI output, the HT-F6500W scales the output of a standard DVD signal (480i) to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. The unit also supports 480p and 480i output if your television is not HD-compatible.

Progressive Mode: The Samsung Blu-ray Home Theater System provides a Progressive mode to improve picture quality when viewing a DVD movie.

Full HD 3D: The Samsung HT-F6500W supports 3D playback of high-definition 3D Blu-ray discs when connected to a 3D-Ready HDTV via HDMI, along with wearing a pair 3D vision glasses. You can select from three 3D modes to suit your viewing needs.

  • Auto: You can choose whether to watch a 3D Blu-ray disc in 3D or 2D mode before playing a 3D Blu-ray disc. It is automatically played in 2D mode if your TV cannot support 3D contents.
  • 3D: The 3D Blu-ray disc is played in 3D mode at all times. The original video signal of the 3D image is displayed without any conversion. If a TV cannot support 3D Blu-ray discs, the playing screen will be black.
  • 2D: The 3D Blu-ray disc is played in 2D mode at all times. Choose this to view a picture without 3D effects or when a TV cannot support 3D Blu-ray discs.

Deep/x.v.Color: Deep Color allows more accurate color reproduction with deep color depth. The system must be connected to a Deep Color compatible TV via HDMI for this feature to function.  The unit also supports x.v.Color; meaning it's ready for x.v.Color discs, such as AVCHD discs (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format).

Picture Settings: The system offers various Picture Settings to match your TV and viewing content.

  • Screen Size: You can enter the actual screen size (up to 116") of your TV, so that the player can adjust the image according to the screen size and display an optimal image.
  • TV Aspect: You can adjust the video output of the system to match the screen-type of your television. You can choose from 4:3 Letter-Box, 4:3 Pan-Scan, 16:9 Wide, and 16:9 Normal.
  • Picture Modes: This function enables you to adjust video quality when the player is connected to your TV.
    • Standard: Suitable for most viewing applications.
    • Movie: Suitable for watching movies.
    • Dynamic: Increases sharpness.
    • User: Lets you adjust the sharpness and noise reduction function manually.

AV Sync: Video may look slower than the audio if it is connected to a digital TV. If this occurs, you can adjust the audio delay time to match the video. You can adjust the AV Sync from 0 to 300ms (in 25ms increments).

BD Wise: BD Wise is Samsung's latest inter-connectivity feature. When you connect Samsung products with BD-Wise to each other via HDMI, the optimum resolution will be set automatically. It will also automatically optimize internet video by boosting image quality to sharpen imagery and ensure text is legible. BD Wise will even resize the video ratio so that video edges are not cropped off.

Bonus View: The Bonus View feature provides picture-in-picture capability with select Blu-ray Disc titles. You can view addition content (such as director/actor commentary) in a small display window while the movie is playing.

Also, the Samsung does get FM radio. Of course if you have an internet connection you're very likely to use of the internet radio stations like Pandora. [ WILLIAM B  Feb 20, 2014 ]
I had the same question when selecting this unit since my old system had a receiver and all the other devices you mentioned. The Samsung HT-F6500W system has a built-in DVD / Blu-Ray player and two HDMI ports. Most likely your older components (like mine) don't have HDMI. However if you have a smart TV with HDMI and RCA ports, you can hook your old components (if you want to keep them) to your TV. The sound will play back through the HDMI cable to the Samsung. I thought this was really cool! The Samsung is really powerful and lets you play music wirelessly from your PC. I've ripped the music off my CD's to the computer so I don't need a CD player anymore. The DVD is already built-in, so I don't need that anymore either. The whole package is now so much smaller and it sounds great. Hope this helps. [ WILLIAM B  Feb 20, 2014 ]
Yes to both questions; however it only receives FM, not AM. You may want to review the users manual, available on Samsungs website. Just search under the model number and go to "Support". It has frequently asked questions and a link to download the manual. [ ROBERT G  Feb 16, 2014 ]
It's a great system. We are pleased with it. You can only get FM not a.m. There is an aux in for other devices like a tape player but we do not currently use that feature. It looks as though you can only connect one additional device. It has a built-in DVD Blu-ray player so you would not need to add that. In order to use the apps on the device, because it is a smart device, you need to create a Samsung ID and account. another issue to consider, the wireless feature does not mean that the speakers are wireless. There is a wireless box that the speakers connect to and the wire supplied is very short we needed to purchase additional wire. We had a minor difficulty installing the Netflix app on the device but since we overcame that the system is functioning the way we wanted to. All in all we would recommend it. [ Valerie  Feb 15, 2014 ]
Its has only 2 hdmi inputs and a usb input ane no other inputs it does play cds dvds and it has a fm tuner [ FRED S  Feb 15, 2014 ]
We are using the speaker system with the F5500 smart TV so we are using the BLUE Ray player that came with the speaker system and we have everything playing through it. Sorry I can't really answer your question. [ JUDITH E  Feb 14, 2014 ]
Its has only 2 hdmi inputs and a usb input ane no other inputs it does play cds dvds and it has a fm tuner [ FRED S  Feb 14, 2014 ]
It has an FM tuner as well as rca inputs for analog sound. [ Brett  Feb 14, 2014 ]
Perfect, just needed to know that the sound automatically is output through the F6500W regardless of source being cablebox, xbox, or something else. Suppose i should connect cablebox and xbox directly to TV and then the TV will output sound to the F6500W? Best regards Kasper [ Kasper  Feb 08, 2014 ]
I hooked up the F6500w to a Visio tv. I too prefer the sound through the 5.1 speakers It was super easy and the sound is great. I can only think that hooking it up to a compatible Samsung Tv would be a compliment ( and very easy) to this home theatre system. [ Margaret  Feb 06, 2014 ]
Kasper, I've only had my HT-F6500W for a little over two months, but I have found that it will depend on the source. Will watching cable TV and Blueray movies, the sound will come out of the surround sound system and not the TV speakers. When watching some lower quality YouTube videos, it will switch over to the TV speakers automatically and then switch back to surround again with better quality recordings. Hope this helps. [ Mark  Feb 06, 2014 ]
This was a Christmas gift for my daughter. And if she can figure it out, anybody can [ KEITH A  Feb 06, 2014 ]
It's actually pretty easy. All it takes is the press of a button. If you are watching a blu-ray disc & want to go to cable press the scouce button until you get to that input & if you want to go back to blu-ray press the play button & it will pick up where you left off. [ Keith  Feb 06, 2014 ]
From what I can see, the F7080 55" TV is a Samsung Smart TV. The HT-6500W is also a Samsung Smart Surround Sound. The "Smart" in both means that they can stream direct from the Internet, like Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, etc... Don't be confused. The Smart application on the F7080 is awesome and the Smart application on the HT-6500W looks like my 14 year old made it. You really don't need Smart application on both. However, if you do use the F7080 Smart Application and the over-the-air TV tuner in the F7080, you will need to run an optical cable from the F7080 optical-out a surround sound system. If you have cable TV and/or a gaming console (like XBOX), you will also need to run an HDMI between the surround sound and the F7080. Operating the TV and surround sound will require that you juggle two remotes. [ Robert  Feb 06, 2014 ]
We installed the speaker system with a Samsung monitor and set them up at the same time. The two coordinate very well and we are able to control the sound with the TV's remote without using any other device or remote. The only issue has been to make sure that both the TV and the sound system turn on at the same time, and if so, the sound for both cable and accessories go through the sound system seamlessly. [ Daniel  Feb 06, 2014 ]
Its extremely easy to have all sounds out of the f6500w specially if the tv you're using is samsung as well. As for the button you in the remote there are different modes you can set it on to use the f6500w for Bluetooth, DVD/ blueray, and as well as the setting which it allows for all sound from tv to output through the f6500w it's extremely easy to set up as well as a great sound you be getting. [ BRYAN  Feb 06, 2014 ]
Sorry I can't help with this but I'm not subscribed to Netflix. [ STEVE B  Jan 20, 2014 ]
Connects to netflix servers [ PEDRO  Jan 20, 2014 ]
Works with mine but an owner cann only know about their tv, not all units. Call crutchfield tech support. [ jeffrey  Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes it will work with an optical cable but that will just give you audio, but if you hook it up using a Hdmi cable you will get both audio & video to take advantage of the blu ray player. [ Keith  Dec 15, 2013 ]
I cannot answer if it will work with every smart TV. I just purchased it and it works well with my Samsung 7100 series TV set and does allow for multiple ways to connect to it. In looking at the manual you can use either HDMI or a LAN terminal (not sure what this latter one means). My suggestion is to talk with one of the tech support people at Crutchfield. What I can tell you is that the sound is good for the money. It definitely adds far more depth than the standard speakers and allows for surround sound where running wires front to back are a problem (like in my basement). However, the rear speakers are still wired to a receiver so the rears are not independently wireless. Hope this helps. [ DONALD B  Dec 15, 2013 ]
It does not have an iPod dock. [ JOEL  Dec 12, 2013 ]
I'm sure it don't but a USB can be plugged in the front and I'm sure u can put an app on here thru Internet and go thru the cloud [ LEE  Dec 12, 2013 ]
No, it does not. [ ROBERT L  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Armando, This unit has no iPod deck. However, I've had this unit since April 2013 and it is great! It's compact has great sound and works flawlessly, especially if you pair it with a Samsung Smart TV. A small trade off for all the features and sound. Hope this helps. [ EMERSON J  Dec 11, 2013 ]
this does not have the iPod dock it does however have a usb input that you can use your power cord to play music or movies thru. [ ROBERT  Dec 11, 2013 ]
No iPod Dock on this one [ JOHN  Dec 11, 2013 ]
No, but it can play over Bluetooth. [ BRIAN  Dec 11, 2013 ]
Armando, it does not have an iPod deck. [ MATT  Dec 11, 2013 ]
No [ JEFFREY  Dec 11, 2013 ]
