Our take on the Samsung WB250F

With its long-range zoom and wide-ranging photo sharing capabilities, the Samsung WB250F packs a powerful punch for such a compact camera. Its 14.2-megapixel sensor is backlit for better image quality in low-light settings, so vivid color and detail aren't dependent on bright sunlight or flashes. Zoom in close to capture your child's expression at her birthday party, or pull back and fit your extended family in the frame for a group shot. With the WB250F's wide-angle zoom lens, you'll have the flexibility to record all the great moments without having to be right on top of them.

Email, upload, and back up directly from your camera

Samsung has equipped the WB250F with an impressive array of wireless photo sharing options. The Direct Link button gives you easy instant access to your Wi-Fi network. Once connected, you can upload photos directly to social networking sites, email them to friends and family right from the camera, view them on a networked TV, or send them to your smartphone, tablet or PC for even more options. Worried about losing photos before you get around to backing them up? Then turn on AutoShare, which automatically sends photos to your Wi-Fi connected smartphone or tablet right after you snap the shot.

Touchscreen display

With the ability to email photos from the WB250F, you may wonder how long it would take to enter a long email address using the rear-panel navigation buttons. It would likely be tedious, which is why Samsung incorporated a touchscreen LCD into this camera's design. That way, you can enter email addresses just as you would on a smartphone. There are also traditional menu buttons as well as a shooting mode dial, letting you quickly choose between auto or manual exposure modes.

    WB250F Megastar!

Bob T from Aberdare, Wales on 12/21/2013

Brilliant clever camera. Wifi connection to smartphone is automatic with a simple one button press on the top of the camera. Wonderful remote through smartphone. Fully programmable shutter which is excellent. Fantastic value at less than £100! Well done Samsung for leading the way!

    Pros: Everything

    Cons: None

    Love this camera!

jbwalker328 from Denver, CO on 6/3/2013

Great camera with great features. You can upload via wifi to SkyDrive (cloud storage), Picasa, Facebook, your computer, your smart phone - many many options. Takes some time to figure it all out but with a little poking around and experimenting you'll discover it does many things. Picture quality is perfect for the price, and the zoom is fantastic. The shots are pretty fast (shutter lag isn't an issue) but it can take a minute to process some pictures depending on the setting you're using.. If you can't really spend a whole lot (this was in the $200 range) then this is a great choice. It doesn't come with a hard copy manual which is a little annoying since I like to have instructions with me, but like I said - practice and experiment and you'll discover it's a great camera. Highly recommended.

Pros: Many features, wifi connectivity to save pictures in a number of locations, lots of setting for different environments, sharp pictures, fast.

Cons: I feel like it's fragile (may just be me), takes some time and patience to figure it all out, touch screen can cause problems (but you can easily turn the touch function off).

    not great product

    tdnb00 from W.Hartford on 3/17/2013

The wi-fi has to be repeatedly set up, which is daunting. You can only upload pics to facebook and picasa, which is very limiting (no option to expand). I'm returning this camera.

    Pros: touch screen and looks

Cons: wi-fi and social media options
