The Samsung YP-F2JX is a tiny digital music player that can be worn as a pendant
around the neck, or clipped to your clothing. The supplied earbud headphones
have a looping cable which is worn around your neck. A detachable string, which
can be looped through the player, can be locked in place on the headphone cable
and the player is worn as a pendant.
The unit can play MP3 and WMA files, as well as Secure WMA (WMA-DRM10). The unit supports MP3 files recorded at 8 to 320 Kbps and WMA files
recorded at 48 to 192 Kbps. You can store a maximum of 200 folders and 2000 files.
PlaysForSure: This unit is
compatible with PlaysForSure, which ensures the unit will work with WMA music
subscription services such as Napster, Rhapsody, Yahoo Music, and AOL MusicNow.
512 MB Memory: The YP-F2JX is
equipped with a 512 MB Flash memory with the capacity to store approximately 16 hours of
music (MP3s recorded at 64 kbps). Note:
Due to the reserved memory for system file and data recovery, the actual
capacity is slightly less. The unit comes with a couple of music files already loaded.
FM Tuner: The player has a
built-in FM tuner with selectable regions: Korea/USA, Japan, or Other Countries.
You can manually or automatically store up to 20 frequencies in preset memory.
The FM sensitivity can be set to one of three levels: High, Middle, or Low.
Display: The unit
features a 3-line, 15/16" FSTN (Film
SuperTwist Nematic) display for
viewing music file and menu information. You
can independently set the duration of the backlight (5, 15, 30, or 60 seconds,
always on). The display also has a screen saver (a clock display) which appears
in the display window after no button activity for a preset amount of time. The
screen saver is activated after 5, 10, or 30 seconds, 1, 5, or 10 minutes, or
always on. When the Auto Off feature is activated, the unit will automatically
turn itself off a set amount of time after the last button press when the unit
is put into pause mode. You can set Auto Off for 5, 10, 15, 30 seconds, 1 or 3
Sleep Timer: You can set the
sleep timer to turn the unit off after a preset period of time. You can select
15, 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
Controls: All of the controls
are located on the side panels. The left side includes the volume control and a
hold slide switch, which can prevent accidental operations when activated. On
the right side, the unit features the Menu/User button, the Play/Pause button,
and the skip up/down controls.
Input/Output: The YP-F2JX has
only two connections: the top-mounted 3.5mm headphone jack and the
bottom-mounted USB 2.0 port with a plastic cover. The USB 2.0 port is used
exclusively for file/data transfer, and for charging the battery. Note:
The USB port is not a standard USB Version 2.0 connection, so the supplied USB
cable must be used.
Rechargeable Battery: The unit
includes a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery which provides up
to 12 hours of playback time (MP3 128 kbps, Volume 20, Normal sound mode). Using the supplied USB cable, normal battery
recharge time is approximately 2.5 hours when connected to your computer. Note:
The unit does not include an AC power adapter or charger.
DNSe: DNSe is a sound effect
function developed by Samsung for their MP3 players. Available DNSe modes
include: 3D-User, 3D-Studio, 3D-Stage, 3D-Club, Normal, Rock, House, Jazz,
Dance, Ballad, R&B, Classical, or User EQ. The User EQ mode allows you to make
+/- 9dB adjustments to a 5-band graphic equalizer with center frequencies of
50Hz, 200Hz, 1kHz, 5kHz, and 16kHz. You can adjust the effect level of each 3D
mode between 0 and 5. In addition to DNSe, the unit also has a Bass Enhance
feature with levels of 00 to 03.
Play Modes: The YP-F2JX offers
numerous play modes and play speeds:

select the speed of the music/voice recording: 0.7x, 0.8x, 0.9x, 1.0x
(normal), 1.1x, 1.2x, or 1.3x.
- Skip Interval: When you
press the Skip/Search button during playback. the player will jump ahead or
backward a preset interval: 3 sec., 5 sec., 7 sec., 10 sec., 30 sec., 1
min., or 1 track
- Search Interval: When you
press and hold the Skip/Search button during playback, the player will fast
forward/fast reverse at the following intervals: 1 sec., 3 sec., 5
sec., 10 sec., 15 sec., 20 sec., 30 sec., or 1 min.
Supplied Software: The supplied
CD-ROM disc contains the necessary software, including Windows Media
Player 10, to allow you to rip CDs, download new music from an online store,
manage your music, and store it on the player.
