Parrot MINIKIT Neo universal Bluetooth kit
Item # 333MKNEO | MFR # MiniKitNeo
This item is no longer available.
Maybe you lease your vehicle. Perhaps you rent cars frequently. Whatever the reason, you don't have Bluetooth in your car, and you're not interested in replacing your factory radio. Parrot's convenient MINIKIT Neo Bluetooth car kit clips on your visor, then links up with your compatible mobile phone, smartphone, or iPhone® to give you instant hands-free calling and much, much more.
Plug the Parrot MINIKIT Neo into your computer via its USB port to download free software updates. The speakerphone actually talks you through the process of pairing it with your phone. Once you mount the MINIKIT Neo on your visor, it syncs up with your phonebook instantly. You speak commands to initiate, accept, or reject calls, all without taking your hands off the wheel. And it's made for sharing — you can connect two phones simultaneously, even accessing phonebooks from both, and you can control up to 10 portable devices, including an iPod®. Another big plus: the the MINIKIT Neo is battery-powered, so you don't have to worry about any dangling cords.
The MINIKIT Neo has its own suite of free downloadable apps (available for iPhone and Android™ smartphones), including auto-reply for texts or calls, a parking timer to help you remember when to drop more coins in the meter, a car-locator GPS feature, and even a driving time reminder to let you know when to stop and take a break on your road trip. The MINIKIT Neo switches on automatically when you get in your car, and it will let you know when the battery's getting low. You can play music on your phone through the built-in speaker, and you can also listen to spoken directions from your navigation app.
Bluetooth note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

Love this thing ,it works great .
Pros: works better than I could have thought.
Purchased this for my parents for them to have in their car or to use in the house. Sound is good, Setup was pretty easy and so far it has worked well for them. They have not had it long enough to give a full review but so far so good!
Pros: Setup both their flip phones, volume is good, setup pretty easy
Cons: printing off the instructions to do the setup
Easy set up. Volume appears to be adequate. Have not had it long enough to gauge battery life.
Great product. User friendly with outstanding audio quality.
My daughter Fernanda, who is not even two years old yet, saw me using my Parrot Minikit Neo just once, a few days later she got out of bed before me, she had found my minikit and when I opened my eyes I see her talking to it and saying "call Ilse" (that's my sister's name). I could not believe my eyes, my little baby already knew how to use it, that's how intuitive and easy to use it is. When I first got it out of its package, I had it completely set up in less than two minutes. I definetly recommend the Parrot Minikit Neo to anyone, it is a great bluetooth handsfree device you can totally rely on, and like I always say: keeping your eyes on the road and not on your phone can save your and somebody else's life.
Pros: Great sound quality, long battery life, intuitive, easy to use.
The setup itself is straight forward and quite simple. The menu for setting is all voice announced as I turn the one dial, then I just need to push the green button to select, or red button to undo setting. The BlueTooth speaker can pair up to ten devices, and can work with two phones at once. Even better, each ring is the original ringtone that user already has on each phone. So, you won't get confused about which cell phone is ringing. Only one phone's contact list can be accessed at a time, but you can switch back and forth between two phones. This is the first time I see a blueTooth device with this feature at this price range. Cool. The battery is rated for 12 hours of talk and 15 days standby. I have yet to test the 12 hours talk time claim, but the standby time is pretty right. This bluetooth speaker detects vibration when I get in car, it wakes itself up from hibernation and automatically connects to my cell phone. When not in use, it goes into sleep mode after a few minutes. If not used for a long period, it will then hibernate. This part work pretty reliably. The speaker volume is very loud and can clearly be heard over road noise it is a very fine product with lots of abilities in a small package for a fine price! It's a definite buy!
Pros: Battery life (12 hours) Clear very loud speaker Connect two cellphones at same time Voice dial and call answer Play music, gps directions (from cellular devise) and more through built in speaker Sync contacts Car location finder (in free app) Drive time and parking meter reminder (in free app) Works with iPhone, Google, and windows based products cellphones and almost any Bluetooth devise! Uses simple commands for voice activated calls and commands
Cons: Instructions could be clearer and could include a reference card of commands that you can use
This tiny speakerphone is amazing. I was surprised just how easy it was to use and how well it responds. The buttons are intuitive and easy to push. The pairing was as simple as can be. The mini kit did it all, including downloading my phone book. People I call have no problem hearing me and it keeps out the background noise. Out of the box it does it's job well without changing settings. Iif you want to use the more powerful features, you need to access the menu and set it up further. Piece of cake. Good: -Voice recognition (better than my phone) -Documentation -Form factor TAKE NOTE: Be aware this does not fit "fat" visors. I knew this before purchasing it for my wife's Tiburon so I checked first. It does not fit my Chevy Colorado, but I didn't get it for that. Parrot makes another miniKit with the same features that has a larger clip style mount. I have not tried the bluetooth to radio function. But I can tell you that playing music through the speaker of the MiniKit is as you would expect from any small speaker without base. It's best for voices. I would not hesitate to buy this again. In fact I'm going to purchase the other MiniKit model for my truck
Pros: Particularly good: -Background noise canceling. -Voice clarity at both ends -Ease of set-up -Volume -Looks -ease of usemy wife uses it without troubles. THAT is saying something. -Instant connect feature works really well.
Cons: Bad: -Nothing to speak of, although there's little choice of how you mount it.
Product was easy to install. It did fit my visor so no problem there. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and I have had no problems. Voice recognition is accurate. Speaker is clear and others on the other end say my voice comes across clear. Volume is good. Haven't used many features other than call out, answer and contact list. Glad I purchased it.
Pros: Easy to install, easy to use, clear speakers, quality product
Cons: Non so far.
works as advertised. no hassle installation and use.
Very very pleased with device. Does All as advertised.
My wife and I purchased a MiniKit for our vehicles to comply with the new state law requiring hands-free devices. After a month of operation, I can report that we've been very pleased with the Parrot MiniKit. It's simple to operate, pairs flawlessly with iPhones (we've used both a 4 and 5S), sounds quite good for such a tiny unit and speaker, and holds a battery charge amazingly long. One flick of its switch audibly reports the percentage of battery life remaining, so you know exactly when it's time to recharge. We get over a month. Heavy users would probably get between several days to a couple of weeks. We've found that the best way to operate this is to turn it off and on each time you leave the vehicle but keep the iPhone Bluetooth on. That way, when you turn the unit on after entering your vehicle, you first hear the tones that indicate that the unit is on, then the chirp sound that confirms pairing with your phone. This procedure confirms that all is working properly. Turning the unit off each time is even more important if you live in a house with a garage. Otherwise, your phone is close enough to your car in the garage to be paired continuously, which sends some of the phone's sounds to the unit in your car instead of the phone's speakers.
Pros: Easy to use. Easy to pair with iPhone. Amazing battery life.
Does exactly what I bought it for. Hands free cell phone with portability between vehicles.
Pros: Easy to pair up with my cell phones. Just enough functions to make it very capable.
Cons: None really. It doesn't fit my visor but I can hang it several other places.
Prob an excellent product but it doesnt fit one of the most popular vehicles. Are you serious? Unreal. Another disappointment is that it has no FM transmitter so NO playing music through Bluetooth to your radio. Other units less costly offer this; I assumed this one did too. overall not happy with it.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Doesnt fit popular vehicle. Doesnt allow playing music or connecting to car radio through Bluetooth. Costs more than other makes that do all the above.
Works great, holds a charge for quite a while. Easy to install and the voice quality is good to everyone who calls. It worked in the cold just fine for the cold week or so we've had so far. Car has not been in the garage so I have no complaints.
Pros: Easy to install & use. Takes all the contacts from my cell phone, good idea!
Cons: Only fits on one spot on my sun visor as the visor is too fat I guess.
So far, so good. Works fine. Have been thinking about what to do when it really gets cold, as other reviewers said it stopped working after a freeze....shall I bring it in out of the car each night? I don't get a lot of calls, but wanted to have it so I wouldn't get stopped by the police out here in the wilds....
Pros: Hands free....easy enough
Cons: A little complicated for my old (in my sixties) brain.
Works as advertised. Functions perfectly.
Pros: yLove how it syncs your contacts and assigns it's own tags. It sounds very clear on either end of the call.
Cons: you have to be careful pronouncing words that sound similar like mary or terry. Once you figure that out it works well.
Worked right out of the box after following set up instructions. It is more than I could have hoped for. Clear voice activated, loud clear conversations. Great product it performs just as advertisec.
Pros: Works as advertised even better than I expected.
Great Product -- works as described -- even ok with the top down!
Pros: Sound quality, size, ease of use
Good Bluetooth but sometime have to get the phone to answer calls.
excellent product.would recommend to friends.
Works really well when connected. Does not always reconnect. Have to turn off then back on to reset. Or reset Bluetooth on phone. Does what it's suppose to do when connected.
Cons: Disconnects quite often
It actually does the job it says it 's supposed to do...which is unheard of these days..
The product worked as advertised for a couple months. Only complaint then was that sometimes the newscaster would trigger "Who do you want to call?" by saying words like Connecticut (confused for "MiniKit"). However, as winter set in, the device has started to become psychotic. Thinks its charged. Thinks it needs charging. Won't turn on (even with power chord). Won't make calls. Won't turn off when I leave the car. ALL of these behaviors are intermittent. I suspect the device is permanently damaged because even after the car cabin warms up, it still is a crazy little piece of electronics. I'm still using it because it works sometimes, too. So far, its still more useful than not having handsfree, but when it dies I will NOT buy this device, and I will check for temperature/environment spec's on replacement devices. So, my suggestion is that people that live North of freeze lines that park their car outside during night OR day... Don't expect this device to behave sanely.
Pros: It works. Sometimes.
Cons: SURPRISE! It doesn't like cold temperatures. Battery and speech recognition and controls/software interfaces appear permanently affected after freeze. The clip opens JUST wide enough to clip onto Camry visor.
We were able to start using the Minikit Neo immediately. Startup was very easy. We paired both mine and my wife's phone wthin minutes and everything worked fine, including the loading of both of our phone books. The voice reception was very clear and the voice recognition worked great! It fit the visors of both of our cars with no problem. We were very pleased with this product.
Pros: Easy start up. clarity of voice communication, excellent automatic pairing when entering the car.
Cons: The instructions in the box were very cryptic and not of much use. We had to download the online manual to understand the startup procedure. One other minor issue, when in the car, the minikit inadvertently asks who you want to call every so often without any prompt from us. Perhaps background noise somehow causes it to be activated. Not a big problem ,however, you just hit the red button to cancel the prompt.
This thing rips. I could not be happier. It fits my thick visor with light mirror and all, unlike someone else's....
Pros: wicked easy. you talk, it phones who you tell it. Its like your slave. It will do anything you tell it as long as thats call someone in your phone book. Sound quality is excellent on both ends.
Cons: umm. ummmm.
This thing is wicked awesome. I am completely impressed and find it easier to use than my wifes factory system in her 2012 pilot touring. The sound quality is excellent, excellent, excellent. The microphone works flawlessly i dont feel like I need to talk as loudly as I do in the Honda. The voice recoginition is completely super duper.
Pros: The coolest thing ever. Fits the Lighted visor in my 2007 passat 3.6 perfectly. Wow I want more. A one hundred dollar bargain.
Bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee in May. The onboard bluetooth system is incredibly bad. It is not compatible with any thing. The bluetooth system is called uconnect and the only phone that I found that works with it an iphone 4s. After trying to get it to work for six months, I decided to look for alternatives. After a lot of research I came across the Parrot Mini Kit Neo. Started using it about a week ago and it works remarkably well. The voice quality on all calls I would rate a nine out of ten. Pairing was a breeze. It recognized my phone (Samsung SCH-i500) paired with it, downloaded my phone book and I made the first call with it in less than a minute after pairing. It seems to be compatible with almost anything. Had Parrot bluethooth in two Kenwood radios previously and never had any problems. It solved my bluetooth problems and my phone is truly hands free again.
Pros: Great product so far. Voice quality is very good. Voice recognition is excellent.
Cons: The only downside that I can think of is the Neo is battery powered. However the battery lasts quite a while before it needs recharging.
Bought this item for the vibration switch and the Bluetooth 3.1. BIG improvements over the MINIKIT Slim One fatal problem: the spring clip (fully integrated into the housing) isn't large enough. If you have a visor that contains a lighted vanity mirror, HomeLink buttons, or a slide-out shade extension, then the MINIKIT Neo probably won't fit. Ended up taping it to an old garage door opener clip. Works but looks awful. Very Disappointing from a top name in Bluetooth Products, especially for their new model. Neo Firmware 1.07 IPhone 4, 4S 2009 Subaru Legacy
Pros: Bluetooth 3.1 Call Sound is GREAT for portable Bluetooth system (a little tinny overall, but excellent for the small size) Voice-recognition is Excellent. Battery life is excellent with Deep Sleep mode. (sleeps after 5 minutes unpaired, wakes and connects when you close your car door to drive off) Neo battery life displayed on phone when connected. Very clear mic even with windows down. Connects in 5 seconds to iPhone 4 and 4S Pairing is painless and automatic.
Cons: FATAL FLAW: Visor clip is too small for ALL but the thinnest visors. (1/2 inch thick is pushing it) Would have given 5 stars except for this. Only when"Magic Words" for outgoing calls is turned on: (placing a call without touching phone or Neo) prevents Deep Sleep mode, battery life reduced to 2 days standby.(can be turned off, the call is initiated though the phone or by pressing the call button on the Neo and then using voice. IPhone app is too buggy to use (Ver 1.2)
Parrot Minikit Neo, is a great bluetooth handsfree device for your car, truck or whatever you drive. Set Up was easy on a 2 yr old HTC EVO, once you pair the device it synchronizes your phonebook automatically. all you have to say is MINIKIT and the device asks you who you want to call. Apps are available for both IOS & Android. sound quality is really good on this device. Just turn on your bluetooth and your good to go. it comes with a usb to mini plug to charge on your computer and has a cigarette lighter adapter for your vehicle.
Pros: Excellent product from parrot.com - check out the video on youtube
Cons: CNET said the sound quality was good not great, i disagree with their review.
Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit: The Parrot MiniKit Neo offers hands-free communication in the vehicle for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, smartphone, or iPhone. It also provides wireless audio streaming of music & navigation instructions from your Bluetooth enabled mobile device. The Parrot MiniKit Neo is fitted with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery & includes a 12-volt cigarette lighter charger. The MiniKit Neo also features an integrated sun visor mount.
Bluetooth Technology: The Parrot MiniKit Neo features built-in Bluetooth (v3.1) Technology and works with most Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, smartphone, & iPhones. The Parrot MiniKit Neo supports the following Bluetooth Profiles.
Simple Pairing: The Parrot MiniKit Neo will vocally guide you through the entire pairing process with your Bluetooth-enabled cellular phone. Once your phone is paired, the MiniKit Neo will automatically connect to your phone when you enter the vehicle. You can connect up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled devices. Checkhere for the latest Bluetooth-enabled phone compatibility.
Multipoint (Dual Mode): You may simultaneously connect two Bluetooth telephones & receive incoming calls on either one easily. When two phones are connected to the Parrot MiniKit Neo, one of the phones becomes the main phone & the other is the secondary phone. You can receive calls from the main or secondary phone. The Parrot MiniKit Neo ringtone varies according to the phone receiving the call. Only the phone book of your main phone may be accessed through the Parrot MiniKit Neo, and you can only make calls using the main phone. If you receive a call on one of the phones while you are already on a call with the other phone, only the phone receiving the call will ring. This new call can only be picked up from the phone (not the MiniKit Neo).
Note: In Dual Mode, the Parrot MiniKit Neo attempts to connect to all paired phones in the vehicle. If there are more than two paired phones in the vehicle, the device connects to the two phones with the oldest pairing.
Vibration Sensor: The Parrot MiniKit Neo's vibration sensor will switch it into On mode and automatically connect it to your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone as soon as you enter your vehicle.
Integrated Microphone & Speaker: The Parrot MiniKit Neo features an omni-directional microphone with APA (v1.6) Echo Cancellation, as well as advanced Parrot Noise Reduction (v3.1) & a flat-panel speaker with NXT technology. The Parrot MiniKit Neo employs an omni-directional mic with noise reduction & echo cancellation so you can be confident that the person you're talking to can hear you clearly. The NXT technology flat-panel speaker (3W) allows for incredible flexibility when positioning the MiniKit Neo in the vehicle.
Hands-Free Communication: The Parrot MiniKit Neo supports Bluetooth hands-free communication from your Bluetooth enabled smartphone. The unit's built-in microphone and speaker lets you carry on a phone conversation without ever having to pick up your mobile smartphone. An incoming call is indicated by an audible ringtone. If the number is recorded in the phonebook of the smartphone connected to the Parrot MiniKit Neo, the name of the caller is announced. You can press the green/red button or use the "Voice Recognition Tags" to accept or reject a call. During a call, you can receive a second call; while putting the first call on hold. Also, you can transfer the phone call from the Parrot MiniKit Neo to your smartphone for a more private conversation.
Phonebook Transfer w/ Voice Recognition + Text-to-Speech: The first time you use the Parrot MiniKit Neo, it synchronizes its phonebook with your Bluetooth enabled smartphone's phonebook. It can support up to 2,000 contacts per smartphone (up to 10) and a total of 20,000 contacts for all paired phones (up to 10). This synchronization will re-launch itself each time your phonebook has been modified. All your contacts, after automatic synchronization, are directly provided with a voice tag in the Parrot MiniKit Neo. Consequently, you don't have to record your own voice tag on each contact to make a call via the voice recognition process. If you wish to find a last name, a first name, or a nickname; you can browse through your phonebook directory and listen to Parrot MiniKit Neo read the names of all your contacts, then validate with a single click of button to place the call.
Note: Only the contacts stored in the phone memory are synchronized. If your contacts are stored in the SIM card memory, transfer them into the phone's memory first. If your smartphone doesn't support automatic synchronization, you can also send contacts manually from your smartphone to the car kit via Bluetooth.
Managing Voice Mail: During a call, the Parrot MiniKit Neo allows you to send DTMFs (dual-tone multi-frequency signaling) to manage your voice mail.
Audio Streaming: Thanks to the Bluetooth A2DP audio profile, you can listen to music from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone on the Parrot MiniKit Neo. If you receive a call while streaming music, the music will be paused. The MiniKit Neo does not feature Bluetooth Profile AVRCP & does not offer control of your music device.
GPS Instructions: If your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone supports the GPS features & is equipped with Bluetooth (A2DP profile), the navigation instructions can be played through the Parrot MiniKit Neo. When you receive a call, the navigation instructions are interrupted automatically & then resumed when you end your call.
MiniKit Neo App Suite: Get the MiniKit Neo App Suite from the iTunes App Store (for your Apple iPhone iOS 4.0 or later) or from the Google Play Store (for your Android smartphone 2.1-up) to enhance your user experience of the Parrot MiniKit Neo. Available apps within the MiniKit Neo App Suite:
Visor Mount: The integrated clipping system is compatible with most sun visors and can be reversed easily with only one hand when you fold or unfold the sun visor
Software Update: Download the latest software updates for free on theParrot website. These updates will enable you to receive new features & improve compatibility. Simply connect the Parrot MiniKit Plus to your computer via the included USB cable and go to the Parrot website. The latest available software version is 1.09 (as of 11/20/2012).
Rechargeable Battery: The Parrot MiniKit Neo features an integrated rechargeable lithium-ion battery (1000mAh). It can be recharged via the included 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter & USB cable. The rechargeable battery provides 10 hours of talk time, up to 15 days of standby time, or 6 months in deep sleep mode. The lithium-ion battery takes approximately 3.5 hours to charge. The MiniKit Neo will tell you the remaining battery time vocally upon request.
Sleep Mode: If the Parrot MiniKit Neo has not been connected to any phone for 5 minutes, it automatically switches to Sleep mode.

Yes, it works like any blue tooth device As long as it's connected, you can manually dial any number and talk through the parrot.[ Michele Jun 27, 2014 ]
Yes just dial the number and the call goes thru the parrot as long as it is paired.[ Thomad Jun 27, 2014 ]
Yes, it's just like a in-dash blue tooth radio. It doesn't lock out use of the phone, you just use it like a speaker phone[ Dulnath Jun 26, 2014 ]
Yes you can[ Quint Jun 26, 2014 ]
Sure. You can do that as I recall. However, my experience with the Parrot was really disappointing. I returned it right away. The sound was really "tinny", the connection with BlueTooth was sketchy, and the controls were not intuitive. In fact, it seemed they weren't consistent.. Had I been in a quiet room, it may have been fine. I used it in my quiet office a time or two and it worked alright. In the car, with it's greater blue-tooth demands and road noise....it was not good enough.[ Guest Jun 26, 2014 ]
Yes, as long as your connected to the minikit neo the call will go through it.[ JASON Jun 26, 2014 ]
Yes Mike you can. Once the number is dialed the Parrot (if activated) basically takes over and you then talk through the Parrot and not the phone.[ David Jun 26, 2014 ]

I wear hearing aids and am often hindered by background noise. The volume adjusts and the words remain clear.[ SUSAN J Apr 09, 2014 ]
While I don't have a noisy car, I have found the Parrot Neo to be very clear in every instance. If you clip it to your visor it should be close enough to hear over most background noise. If you can hear a passenger talk, you'll be able to hear the Neo![ DON Mar 31, 2014 ]
I don't have a diesel truck so I can't really answer that question honestly. However, I will say this in order to get the best performance out of this device it helps if inside the cabin is relatively quiet. No radio on, or other electronic devices gps etc. that may interfere with you being able to hear the other party. I hope this answer was helpful in making your decision. In closing I can say I have been very pleased with my parrot since the day of purchase, and I have tried a lot of other Bluetooth devices on the market however, they just don't measure up![ DEREK Mar 31, 2014 ]
