App-controlled pet camera and laser toy with Wi-Fi® (Gold)
From Petkit: MATE Smart Wi-Fi Pet Monitor
Our take on the PetKit Mate by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
The PetKit Mate lets you look in on your pets, talk to them, and even entertain them with a remote-controlled laser game
See what your pets are doing while you're away
Whether you're working late, grocery shopping, or visiting friends, you can't always take your pet with you. The PetKit Mate pet cam lets you check in on your furry friends and make sure they're safe, sound, and even entertained.
The Mate has a 110-degree wide-angle lens that already takes in a lot of the action, but it also rotates 340-degrees on its base, so you can find even the sneakiest pup or kitty. The camera also moves up and down, so you can see the tall ones and the small ones. There's even a two-way talk function so you can let them know you'll be home soon.
Play together, no matter where you are
The camera also has a remote-controlled laser toy, so you can get your pets up and moving even when you're stuck at work. The free PetKit app lets you operate the game, take snapshots or video clips, and then share them via social media.

Overview: The Petkit Mate (SPC1GY) is a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controlled pet monitoring device that lets you check up on your pet anytime or anywhere. With a built-in high definition camera, you can view your pet on your mobile phone or tablet, plus record videos and photos for sharing on social media. The free companion app lets you pan the camera around, and activate an interactive laser toy. The cylindrical-shaped Mate features a champagne-colored, anodized aluminum alloy outer shell, and weighs 1.32 pounds. It is 3-5/8" in diameter and 7-5/8" tall, and includes a 6' power cable.
Camera: The Mate features a camera with a 110° wide-angle lens, and can stream 720p HD video to your mobile device. The lens tilts up and down, and the motorized base lets you pan 340° around the room to let you see your pet wherever he's hiding. (Camera controls are located on the Petkit app.) Videos and still photos can be recorded and saved on your phone or tablet. Built-in speakers on the device let your pet hear your voice as you speak through your phone's microphone, while dual microphones pick up your pet's response back to you. The Mate also has an infrared light emitter to let you check on your pets (or your home) after hours when the house is dark.
Laser Toy: The Mate has an app-controlled interactive toy that emits a red laser light to entertain your pet (and you as you watch). You can move the light in random patterns around the room to engage your pet for hours.
Wireless Technology: The Petkit Mate connects to your home Wi-Fi network (802.11 a/b/g/n), allowing you to monitor your pet from anywhere. While you're at home, you can monitor your pet from another room by connecting to the Mate via Bluetooth 4.0.

Why did you buy this?
I chose as a gift for my son, who has a cat that he sometimes leaves alone over an extended period. [ Eric Feb 24, 2018 ]
