My wife and I have been looking for decent TV stands for over a year and could not decide on one. She wanted to find something in wood that matched the center piece of an Entertainment center I have had for years, but we had no luck finding something that was a good match, yet would hold all the components I have. We ordered this stand along with a new Sony 65" TV. The stand is dark, and blends in well with the TV and the space between the two bookshelves we kept from the older entertainment center. The wood finish on the stand is a dark coffee color...like black coffee with just a dash of cream in it. The glass shelves are very dark smoke/black, so the whole thing virtually disappears and blends into the surroundings, regardless of decor. The stand arrived unscathed via UPS freight, along with the 65" TV. The stand is well packed in the box, but let me warn you, it is HEAVY...probably in the 120 lb range, so it will take two people or a set of hand trucks to carry/move it while in the box. Assemble it close to the spot you want to put it, as moving it around after assembly is going to take two people. The directions for assembly are adequate, and a hex head wrench is included for assembly. I have hex head sockets for my ratchet wrench, so chose to use it for assembly as it is much easier to use than the L shaped wrench furnished. But, you could get it done with the furnished tool, it would just take a bit longer to do. My wife and I had it assembled in about an hour.
Pros: The suspended shelf is great...holds my Yamaha RX-V773 receiver with room to spare; cable management is very good; glass shelves are very sturdy and attractive; my other components are stacked on the bottom shelf, directly under the suspended amp, so it's all neat and tidy. That includes a Sony Blu Ray player, an older Oynkyo CD changer, and a HD/DVR cable box. The stand is the ideal height for our Sony 65" TV...when seated on the couch, your eye is pretty much centered to the middle of the TV.
Cons: Not really a con, but the stand is very heavy...but heavy in this case means extremely sturdy and supportive, which you want with a 80lb TV on top. Being dark glass, it will show dust, so keep some glass cleaner handy, or a swifter to dust it off once a week or so.
