Great for your iPod® and iPhone®

Plug in your player to the front-panel USB input, and you can use the CDE-134HD's controls to navigate your iPod's music library. The person riding shotgun will love Passenger Control Mode, which lets them play DJ while you focus on driving. While your iPod's connected and you've got an HD Radio broadcast tuned in, you can "tag" songs you hear for later purchasing from the iTunes® store.

Awesome sound quality

And as always, you can count on Alpine to deliver great sound quality. You can adjust your sound to taste with one of the ten equalizer presets or by using the 3-band parametric EQ. Into power? This receiver works with Alpine's KTP-445A Power Pack, a plug-in amplifier that sends 45 watts RMS to each of your front and rear speakers.

iPod note:
If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility.

Good affordable upgrade from my factory unit in my 99 Silverado. Didn't want to invest much since I only drive five miles each way to work. Added the inline alpine amp and Polk speakers. Plenty of power for me and the sound is good. Love being able to use the USB to play my MP3 files.

Pros: Easy to install. Flash drive.

    Cons: small buttons

Bought this my girlfriend and she loves it. It is a huge improvement over her previous stereo just in the sound quality alone. She is also a huge fan of seeing the song information from the radio and iPod.

Pros: Beautiful integration Easy to install Incredible sound quality

Installation went smoothly. Directions were fairly good. I like the quality of HD sound too.

Pros: Good replacement for stock unit. Brings me up to speed tech wise.

Cons: Supplied tray was nice but does not hold things well as they continuously are sliding out. It needs a greater angle drop for retention of odds and ends.

Not bad for the money. We got this for my wife's 2007 Rav4 and it is a very nice upgrade from the stock radio. I would definitely recommend this head unit. I also bought the Alpine KTP-445U booster amp and it provides a noticeable improvement to the sound quality. Plus, it fits right inside the dash.

Pros: Great upgrade over stock. Easy to use.

    Cons: Only two preamp outputs.

A great deck for a stock replacement but not if you are using an amp. I pulled out a old pioneer and replaced with this unit. Very easy to use and sounds great but has no sub controls and didn't have the power my old pioneer had. Called crutchfield and the customer service was awesome, ordered a new pioneer unit and love it

    Pros: Easy to use

It was Great! Had this in a 2000 Ford Focus SE Wagon. You can hear the difference when that HD Radio hits. I have this with the Alpine Power Pack.

Pros: Sound, HD Radio, and looks

Cons: I have to have the key to the "on" position to have the HU work. Where as the stock unit would play with no key for 30mins. But honestly I can live with out it. NBD

Bought for my 2004 Dodge Dakota and I must say I am incredibly with the build and sound quality! Huge difference from stock and is an awesome looking product. And the new faceplate fit perfect into the stock ones place. Wiring was relatively easy due to the color coated wires and adapter. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a new radio and head unit!

    Pros: Looks, sound quality, adjustability,

    Cons: None

Radio is good, USB support is lacking

j from Shrewsbury MA on 4/15/2014

I bought this unit because I wanted to listen to HD radio stations and to play music from a flash drive. I'm impressed with the HD radio. It seems to acquire the HD signal faster than other brands. However, I'm disappointed in the USB flash drive support. It won't read my 32GB drive at all. And although it mostly works with my 16GB drive, if USB is selected when the unit powers on, it quite often gives me an error message. I have to switch the input to something else then back to USB to get it to read. This is annoying. Both the 32GB and 16GB flash drives work just fine in my two other non-Alpine units. I'm happy with the sound quality. It has a 3-band parametric equalizer that gives me enough control to make it sound good. I don't like that when the unit is off, the display is completely blank. It would be nice if it would at least display the clock. I didn't try using an iPod or CD yet.

Pros: Good sound, has HD radio, inexpensive

Cons: Poor USB flash drive support, no clock display when unit is off

    CDE-134HD : RUE-4202

TimY from Winter Springs, Fl on 3/17/2014

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in a '91 Chevy Silverado C-1500. I purchased the CDE-134HD and RUE-4202 after having purchased an Alpine unit for this truck some 15 yrs ago. Tech support and Sales support very helpful. Current discount ($80.00) made this unit less expensive than what I paid 15 yrs ago (can't say that very often).

Pros: Unit was essentially a direct swap out regarding chassis, wiring harness, ect. I did splice in the supplied wiring harness though. The wirless remote required installation of the batteries, then immediately worked. Awesome. Installation took all of 30 minutes. Sound (though I've not fully programed the EQ) is awesome.

Cons: Personally I'm 'old school'. Don't need all of the bell and whistles that some units have. This appears to be a very good basic unit that has some extras that I won't utilize. I know this is my issue, not Alpines.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The radio in my 2000 Honda Accord needed to be replaced and the Dealer wanted $720 plus $150 to install a factory rebuild replacement. I thought I was just buying an HD Radio, and was ecstatic to find an excellent replacement with CD, USB port, etc. for this price. It greatly exceeds my expectations. Thanks Crutchfield!!!!

Pros: All I wanted, needed, and SO much more!

Cons: So what if it doesn't operate the volume and change the channel from the steering wheel - The car is worth $3K - I wasn't going to spend $1K for a factory rebuild radio!!!

Great experience! Purchased late Tuesday night, selected standard UPS delivery. The thing showed up here the next day! My 7yo daughter wired the harness that night, and we installed it while were at the bus stop in the morning. Also, it was on sale! So I got a new radio for slightly more than a box store would have charged just to install!

Pros: HUGE step up from the factory unit. love the Ipod controls...I had stopped using it because I always forgot to turn it off. Now I don't have to. HD radio is the way to go. I've had it before, and it's s little hokey the way it dips in and out of HD signal, but overall it's a definite step up from standard fm. I like the hd for my morning commute. You can actually find music!, not windbags on every channel.

Cons: none, it's exactly as advertised. The base Alpine is comparable to most other brands top units.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Display is very good. Sound for most part excellent with a few FM stations OK. Maybe due to rural location. Text on controls small, hard to read. Setting stations fairly easy but read the instructions on PDF file, much better explained than included printed manual. HD stations are great. Removing head unit face plate when parking and leaving my vehicle is great (easy), included case is perfect. Overall, this is an excellent value for less than $100.

Pros: HD stations, removable face plate. 18. station presets (12 FM, 6 AM). Face plate storage/carry case. Sound quality.

    Cons: Small text on controls.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the Alpine receiver mainly for the USB input and the CD player. My Grand Cherokee had an AM/FM cassette deck and I needed to upgrade. Once I heard the HD radio I was Hooked!! I went online and printed out a list of the local HD stations. The quality of the sound is near perfect. I plugged in a thumb drive and played a few songs but the quality of the mp3's doesn't match that of the HD radio. Now I can listen to Blues hockey and Cardinal baseball in crystal clear high fidelity. No more AM!!

Pros: Low price, looks good, excellent sound.

Cons: I know it's minor, but there is no clock display when the unit is turned off.

    HD Radio cuts out

Steve T from Cherry Hill, NJ on 1/10/2014

    2000 Jeep Cherokee
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is an excellent upgrade from my 2000 Jeep Cherokee's stock radio. The sound quality is dramatically improved, especially the USB input (which charges my iPhone) and HD radio. However, head units with HD radio should come standard with premium antenna amplifiers (with noise reduction built in). HD radio cuts in and out frequently on multiple stations at only 30 miles from the station source. That's in flat south Jersey. When HD cuts out and switched to analog it sounds like a CD skipping and is extremely annoying. However, you can go into the settings and turn off HD radio if you're in an area that's spotty. Annoying, yes. But easier than returning the radio and installing another one. Here's how you do it: 1. Hold down the Audio-Setup button until the menu appears. 2. Go to ListenMode, then scroll over to Analog. 3. You can also go to Live Mode and do the same (or just select ListenMode). I'm thinking about getting an antenna amp with a noise reducer, unless it's going to be a total pain to install. The HD radio does sound significantly better than analog. Another somewhat annoying thing is the dimmer. It barely dims when I put my lights on and makes it more difficult to see at night. All things considered, this is an excellent radio for the price. I would recommend it if you do a lot of city driving and get strong HD radio signal. Or if you already have an antenna amp with noise reduction.

Pros: HD radio sounds great, sound quality improved from stock radio significantly, USB input gets the excellent quality digital signal from my phone while charging it

Cons: HD radio cuts out and sounds like a CD skipping, dimmer does not dim enough

I just picked this unit on sale for black friday. It is a really clear sound especially for the HD fm radio, which i use ever day . The unit even has rca jacks in the back for easy hook up to a sub and amp. I am running a powered 250 watt bazooka subwoofer. It sounds exceptional for only being an 8" woofer but it is ported so it is louder than if it were to be sealed.

Pros: Sound quality Easy to use no matter if your not very good with electronics. And many other that i cant think of.

This is a very good unit for the money, that gives great HD radio sound even with OEM speakers. I've always been a Pioneer and Kenwood guy, but the price and features of this one made me try Alpine. I am not tech savvy, and I was able to set up and operate it with no problems. This is the first radio with the CD slot in the face I have had in many years, a feature which I like over previous units I have owned. The optional remote control is a must have, as it makes operation even easier. Many great features for this price range!

Pros: Simple operation, clean design, CD opening in faceplate, and a front USB port protected with a cover.

Cons: Not as flashy as some of the animated display units, which was a selling point for me, with the trade off being able to swap CDs without having to swing open the faceplate.

While driving around, and sometimes when stationary, the HD radio produced frequent echos of words or short phrases. Sometimes it would also cut out a word or two. This was extremely annoying. I sent the first unit back and installed a replacement of the same model. The replacement did the same thing. I sent it back and am waiting for a replacement of a different brand. The CD player skipped on some tracks that two other players don't skip on.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Buyers BEWARE. If you want to use a flash memory stick to play raw MP3's off of through the USB port...this unit WILL NOT read flash drives from the USB port. Alpine market's the unit as if it does, even providing you with an 8gb drive, but the unit will NOT read anything from usb other than usb devices such as ipod's or mp3 players. The USB port on this unit will only read from other MP3 players, and not memory sticks. Crutchfield was awesome enough to send me two of these because of this, however it appears not to be a defect, but a design flaw which Alpine does not acknowledge. Alpine was less than helpful when I called them saying only "it should work." I tired 3 different flash drives all formatted in FAT32 with different bit rate MP3's all under 320KBPS, including MP3's I made from scratch through Adobe Audition, and none of them would read. The same MP3's would read fine when the Alpine unit was plugged into an iPod Touch, or Creative 1gb player. Conclusion: Do not buy this if you intend on using a memory stick to play your music. Alpine does a great job of obscuring the unit's limitations. Thank you Crutchfield for returning this, and being awesome helping me troubleshoot it.

Pros: Great HD radio, Great price, Not a bad unit at all.

Cons: WILL from USB memory stick. I gave it a 1-star because I purchased it exclusively to use a tiny memory stick and not have cables running everywhere to MP3 players.

I installed this in my wife's CR-V - after 13+ years she had worn the numbers off of most of the buttons on the factory CD/Radio (she literally drives with one hand on the head unit, pouncing whenever a song isn't up to her standards). Anyway, it seems to work fine, like every other piece of Alpine gear that I have ever dealt with. Installation was simple & straightforward given the excellent kit and instructions supplied by Crutchfield.

I love the HD radio. It sounds amazing. I also installed the alpine power pack and that is a must - sounds great. Only concern on this deck is my CDs are skipping more than they do in other CD players. I called Crutchfield tech support and they told me to pull the deck out and loosen the screws by which it is mounted or go buy a lens cleaner. I don't like this because it is costing me more $ and more time. It should have said on the instal instructions "do not tighten mounting screws fully".

    Pros: Sounds great.

Cons: Have to rip apart my dash, again, to try and trouble shoot why the CDs are skipping.

An excellent new radio for my truck. I primarily enjoy radio broadcasts: AM/FM and the tuner is a breeze to use to find stations and pulls in long distance stations particularly well.

Pros: Well laid out. Simple logica operation. Installation was easier than expected.

Cons: I have a short in the truck's speaker system, I believe. I need to trace it down as the sound drops out and is only brought back by running the electric window controls (occasionally). Perhaps I'll call Crutchfield to help me through this issue. Pushing the wiring harness back into the dash was a bit tedious because I feared pinching or breaking a wire connection. This unit receives at least twice as many stations as the factory CD/stereo it replaced ('05 Grand Caravan SXT). It's got a lot more power and better sound, too. Fits well and has more functionality (USB & Aux inputs, and it can read mp3s off of CD-Rs). A little difficult to navigate the controls, but there are many more than I'm used to. All in all a great unit for the price!

Pros: Quality, functionality, tuner sensitivity and selectivity, power, ease of installation.

The tech support staff were great and walked me through the install process in my 2007 Mercury Marquis, as if they were sitting beside me and knew just what I was looking at each step of the way. I made several phone calls during the install process and before I knew it the car stereo was installed and the best quality sound was coming out of the speakers. Even when trying to decide which car stereo to purchase, I had the best advise and helpful staff via chat and answered all of my questions. I will continue to do business with Crutchfield and encourage others to likewise. Great purchase, installation and product. Thank you Crutchfield!!!

Pros: Easy installation Quality sound Great features Helpful and polite staff Prompt delivery as promised

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this stereo for my boat. I know it isn't a marine stereo but I am a big fan of Alpine and HD stereo so I stuck it in a Poly-Planar box. It sounds great. I paired it with JL Audio MX650-CCX-CG-WH marine speakers. An absolute awesome sounding setup. Looks great at night, sounds great...yes I said it again. Sorry. Easy install, can't wait to get another set of speakers, the bigger JL's and an amp. I rated "Ease of Use" as a three as it is hard to understand the instructions on how to tune HD station. I am not an audio-phile and the other HD units I have are easy to tune. I go to multi-cast and still can't get the HD stations I want. I had to call tech. support. Sad I know. Other than that it is a great sounding unit.

Pros: It's an Alpine, what else needs to be said.

Cons: Tuning to HD stations, operator lack of knowledge. But still a great unit.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My original stock CD radio in my 2005 Honda Pilot was always weak and after 8 years most CDs would skip and no MP3 jack it was time to replace. The Alpine unit offered HD radio and decent reviews and 4-18 watt channels to power my four speakers. The unit is really nice and solid in performance, look and feel. The sound with stock speakers was a real significant upgrade. I can't believe I waited this long. The connector supplied made the install very easy too. Figuring out how to get the old unit out was tricky. Thanks to some YouTube videos I was able to get the dash apart without breaking anything! I liked the sound so much that I installed new speakers (from Crutchfield) and now this system really rocks!

Pros: Solid unit, good clean power, HD radio, price

Great radio for the price that includes HD

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After needing a radio to replace my factory stereo that was going out, and trying products from other companies, I wanted to see what Alpine would offer. I bought this radio mainly due to Alpine's reputation and the fact that it offered HD radio which I was introduced to from friends as some radio companies now use hd stations to broadcast to smaller translators in the city which I can't hear being in the country. The system is awesome in that the loudest I want to listen still leaves more room to turn it up, as my last stereo, full volume still left me wanting more. The cd player and usb has helped me rediscover some nuances in the songs I didn't realize was there with the line in being used almost daily, Biggest issues I have found in my opinion has been having to use seek to find the HD stations as I had put the radio in manual tune and was unable to access a known local hd2 signal, another is the lack of presets as most aftermarket stereos are already at 18 fm presets and with the new hd signals could have easily filled it up. third is lack of rds except for hd signals which to me should have been a easy given, but for the lack on creature comforts for the tuner, the radio is a great purchase and would easily do it again

Pros: great receiver and audio processing

Cons: lack of a owners manual book or at least how to set clock in quick guide lack of access of hd stations when in manual mode needs more presets

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit has great features like HD radio, USB and auxilliary ports, and a CD player. However, its the intuitive use, great sound, and smart available configurations that make this stereo a resounding success. The compact size allowed the use of a secondary tray...perfect for stashing my IPod while it is hooked up to the USB port. While this unit lacks more advanced features like bluetooth, it is excellent for replacing your "garden-variety" factory radio. Highly recommended...

Pros: Clever configurations, intuitive controls, great features, improved fidelity.

Cons: Volume knob comes off easily if pulled (not an issue in normal use).

    Perfect for me!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all I have never reviewed a product in my life. Second this is the perfect deck if you want a good radio with no bells and whistles. I love this thing, it has everything that I needed and nothing I didn't want. HD Radio is pretty cool even though there aren't many channels available in my area. It was very easy to setup, no manual required if you have a basic knowledge of electronics. I love that it has tagging for hd stations but am only disappointed it does not have RDS, but I already knew that going into it, although Alpine should have included it. It does have a sub pre amp included, something I did not notice in the pictures but found out digging through Alpine's website. Crutchfield has amazing customer service, they answered all my questions and concerns before purchase. Thank you to whoever I talked to, I can't remember his name. :( The sound is really great for the price. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great deck for little money. This was installed in a 99 S10 with minor modification and awesome instructions from Crutchfield. Top notch all the way around. The rest is polk momo 4x6 in the dash, db 651 in the door. Not installed is the 10" pioneer shallow mount sub and pioneer 300w rms amp yet. So far sounds amazing, far superior than factory. I don't know why I didn't do this sooner!! For the price you can't beat it!! 4 1/2 stars for me

Pros: HD Radio USB Connection Aux in (the main reason i bought it) Sub pre amp Its blue and only blue, my favorite color! Has a volume knob instead of buttons!

Cons: No RDS :( No sat connection (not that I needed it but would have been nice if it was included) Only minor things would have made this the perfect 10 to me. Would have been nice to have a little bit more control over the EQ but it does suit my needs well enough! Again much more than factory.

On all counts, the unit itself, the installation kit, the professionalism of the Crutchfield employee and the timeliness of the shipment could not have provided a more satisfying buying experience. This unit fits like a glove. Incidentally, I installed it in a 2003 Ford F 250 King Ranch. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We selected this head unit over all the others in the Crutchfield lineup because it had HD radio and would play MP3's off a thumb drive and had lots of additional features to boot. Having just bought a 2011 Ford Ranger with a simple AM/FM setup with factory speakers, the Ford sound was not going to cut it on the long trips we take. We had an audio shop in Hopkinsville install this Alpine and it took Fred all of 20 minutes. Later we added some Pioneer TS-D6802R speakers and whoa! This system sounds GOOD! Nice bass, beautiful mid range and crystal clear treble. Alpine delivers. When listening to HD radio, we sometime think the thumb drive is on. We are thrilled with our purchase.

Pros: Cost was reasonable, quick to install and great sound from a well known and highly regarded audio company.

Cons: Can't think of a single one!

Pros: - Great sound quality. - Different Radio Search capabilities. - Display of CD Track information. - Different Display Choices. - Detachable Cover.

Cons: - Unable to mute radio. - When ejecting a CD in CD mode, it doesn't automatically revert to Radio, you have to change back manually.

I bought this unit to replace a factory radio in a Ford Crown Vic. I wanted to easily attach my Ipod on trips and still have a quality FM radio. To get these two features, I had to loose the steering wheel control and the RDS feature. The sound quality is as good if not better than the original radio. It was easy to install. I soldered the connections and used heat shrink tubing to insulate the connection. I did make one call to verify one connection (not used), but was advised to make another connection that was for the remote which I did not purchase.

Pros: Easy to install and relative easy to use. Easy to hook up Ipod.

Cons: Would like to see the clock displayed at all times. This unit does not support steering wheel control.

I've installed and used decks from Sony, Pioneer, and Clarion. Alpine products have consistently been the most solid performers for the long haul. My usual priorities are: - Ease of use. - Sound quality. - Simple appearance. I hate flashing displays.

Pros: Controls: simple and clear. Button presets for AM/FM are easy to find by touch. Easy access to HD channels. The volume knob has a nice feel and protrudes a good distance from the face. Amp: Alpine amps seem to pump out more real power (i.e. amps into actual speakers) than other makes, despite similar power ratings.

Cons: More expensive than other makes with similar features.

I bought this Alpine HD Radio for its ability to stay on a digital multicast channel even when signal problems develop, as opposed to dropping back to the main channel (which will typically have completely different programming). The receiver works as advertised, with perfect HD Radio reception and great iPod/iPhone control. The iTunes Tagging feature was a welcome surprise - I didn't know anything about it prior to installing this receiver, but it's convenient to be able to tag HD Radio tracks by pressing the View button for two seconds, as opposed to fumbling through the Shazam app on the iPhone while trying to also concentrate on the road! Very easy installation thanks to all the usual Crutchfield-trademark adapters and advice.

Pros: Great handling of HD tuning; easy controls; easy iPhone/iPod connectivity; awesome sound quality.

iPod/iPhone Audio Playback (with DAC bypass): The Alpine CDE-134HD supports audio playback of music, podcast, and audiobook files stored on your iPod or iPhone; as well as music apps streamed to your iPod/iPhone. The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's large music libraries to be loaded instantly to the Alpine head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 1-bit D/A converter (bypassing iPod/iPhone DAC), allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 105dB.

You will continue to use your iPhone's touchscreen to navigate your apps. Not all apps will be compatible.

Note: Access to your iPhone's downloaded applications will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet.

iPod/iPhone Display: The Alpine CDE-134HD will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music file information in Head Unit or iPod Passenger Control mode. The head unit will display Track number, Elapsed playing time, Artist name, Song title, & Album label. The unit will not display music app information.

CEA-2006 Compliant: The specifications given by Alpine for the built-in amplifier comply with the CEA-2006 mobile amplifier power testing and measurement standards from the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can display the CEA-2006 logo on their product.

    • CEA-2006 Power Rating: 18 watts x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20-20kHz, 1% THD)
    • Max Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels

Head Unit Power Pack (optional): Add the KTP-445A (500KTP445A, sold separately) Head Unit Power Pack to deliver 45 watts x 4-channel RMS of power. The KTP-445A is compact enough to install behind the Alpine CD receiver. It plugs in-line with the head unit's wiring harness, so you don't even need additional wires.

Switchable Preamp Output: The unit is equipped with Front/SW preamp output, which can be set to either a fading front-channel preamp output or a non-fading subwoofer preamp output.

Subwoofer Control: When the non-fading subwoofer preamp output is activated, you can adjust the subwoofer's volume, low-pass filter, & phase.

    • Volume: There are two volume (system) modes for the unit's subwoofer output.
      • System 1: Subwoofer level changes according to the main volume setting.
      • System 2: Subwoofer level change is different from the main volume setting (0-15); even at low volume settings, the subwoofer is still audible.
    • Low Pass Filter: The unit's subwoofer output low-pass filter can be set to 60Hz, 80Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, or Off (through).

Yes I will go to any Android or Apple phone or music device [ CHRIS M  May 10, 2014 ]
    Not for sure [ RYAN M  May 10, 2014 ]
    I'm sorry I can't answer that question. I haven't used it that way. Roland [ ROLAND  May 10, 2014 ]
I am thinking about swopping out the old CDM with anew CDE. I called the hotline and surprisingly the tech said they did not have that info [ terry  Apr 22, 2014 ]
It might be difficult to find a customer with both units that can give you that information; but if you call the crutchfield help line, the techs will usually have all the information you are looking for. [ IMPORTS  Apr 22, 2014 ]
I do not think that is possible [ CHRIS  Mar 28, 2014 ]
    No. [ Erik  Mar 26, 2014 ]
Yes it does! On power up. [ ROLAND  Apr 19, 2014 ]
it doesn't look like the time displays, but there might be settings that can be adjusted... for the price, its a pretty good radio. [ SCOT  Mar 25, 2014 ]
It does display track and time, but if you toggle to Artist/Album or Track info it no longer displays the time. I only listen to CD's so I can't speak to HD Radio or iPod display capabilities. [ JEFFREY  Mar 24, 2014 ]
wish I could help have not installed it yet, but if its any thing one like the one I had in another vehicle it should [ STEPHEN J  Mar 24, 2014 ]
Yes, It displays the time while the power is on, depending on your settings. It does not display the time when the power to the unit is off. [ JEFF  Mar 24, 2014 ]
Yes it does display the time. The screen will either display what function you are currently using such as HD radio, AUX, CD etc. Or the time. It will not display both at the same time though. Hope this helps [ CHRIS M  Mar 24, 2014 ]
Yes it does... A couple different displays can be shown [ RYAN M  Mar 24, 2014 ]
    Yes you can. [ Anthony  Mar 25, 2014 ]
Yes you can , all you have to do is use the 3.5mm jack in the very front and it goes where your headphones would plug into on your phone or any mp3 player [ ALEX G  Mar 24, 2014 ]
David, I don't any of that either, but believe there is a USB port on the back of the chassis. I think the idea is that you run a USB cable from that to a convenient location where you can plug your device(s) in. As I say, I am not a user, so more questions on your part to Crutchfield or Alpine will probably get you a more definite answer. It's definitely a good radio for sure. Doug [ DOUGLAS  Mar 24, 2014 ]
I don't see why not. The thing is with the USB, you only need a thumb drive to play music. I use the aux input for my sansa clip + and just keep a thumb drive with music in the USB. [ DAVE  Mar 24, 2014 ]
You can play it through AUX but not via usb cord. [ THUAN  Mar 24, 2014 ]
The USB mode worked with a non-apple MP3 player I tried, not sure about the one you speak of, but it says "USB" until you plug in an iPhone or iPod and then the title of that mode changes to "IPOD" I am not sure if it would charge your MP3 player though. The "AUX" mode will play anything with a headphone jack, but the controls and display will not know the name of the song playing. [ ZAK  Mar 24, 2014 ]
Aux for sure not sure on the usb. I tired usb on my samsung galaxy s4 and it will only charge wont play music through it [ Tanner  Mar 24, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Krissy  Mar 09, 2014 ]  Staff
    absolutely [ DONALD  Mar 06, 2014 ]
Yes, it does come off easily and stores in its own plastic case. [ GARY  Mar 05, 2014 ]
Yes, it is. It comes with a plastic case to keep the faceplate safe as well. [ JESSE  Mar 04, 2014 ]
    Yes [ LAYNE R  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes the face can detach from the stereo it's self, it even brings a case to put it in if you do [ CRISTIAN  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes, it is. I take mine off every now and then. [ MICAH  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes it is, excellent stereo for the price. [ LEONARD A  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes. Includes a face cover case as well. [ NATHAN L  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes. It even comes with a case for the face. [ ROB  Mar 03, 2014 ]
    Yes This is a great unit [ JAMES A  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Yes, it will also deliver power to charge your phone. [ MARLON DEL  Dec 29, 2013 ]
I do not own a iphone so I can't answer the question, but I can say it will charge a ipod. [ JASON  Dec 28, 2013 ]
I would think it will charge the iphone. I use it to charge my pod all the time. On the other hand pods and phonies maybe different. But Think it will work... [ ERIC  Dec 28, 2013 ]
yes it will charge your iphone. not only that but it charges android and windows phones as well even though it will not play music from those two devices [ BROOKS A  Dec 28, 2013 ]
Yes the usb port will charge [ BRIAN  Dec 27, 2013 ]
I just spoke with my tech, who is very knowledgeable about this sort of thing. He says that the only way he would know would be to plug in a phone and see if it charges. Probably best to check with Alpine. I was actually planning on calling you folks to ask a question about this phone myself. Thanks for the reminder. [ DOUGLAS  Dec 27, 2013 ]
Yes, it charges while changing control of the iPod to the Alpine. It is a good unit for the most part. My only complaint is with the sensitivity of the push functions in the volume knob. Enjoy! [ JOHN  Dec 27, 2013 ]
It charges my iPhone 5 just fine, even if you are in radio/ CD mode. It does charge at a slower rate like charging your phone from a computer USB port vs charging from the wall plug. [ ZAK  Dec 27, 2013 ]
Yes, it charges the iphone. I have an iphone 5 and works great with all the features and functions. [ GABRIEL  Dec 27, 2013 ]
    Yes it does [ PETE  Dec 27, 2013 ]
    I can't get AM stations at all. [ GEORGE  Dec 22, 2013 ]
I've not used it on AM much. But when it have I haven't had any problems [ LAYNE R  Dec 21, 2013 ]
Unfortunately radio manufacturers today don't seem to be putting a lot of effort into the AM section of their units, probably to hold down costs. I recently replaced my OEM unit from my 2002 WRX with the Alpine CDE134HD. I found a small but noticible improvement. I do however live in a rural part of CT, with lots of trees, and very few local stations. I am however pleased overall with this radio. [ DONALD  Dec 21, 2013 ]
The reception for the AM stations is almost identical to the FM stations, I am very pleased with this radio! [ WILLIAM  Dec 21, 2013 ]
Alpine's products are always top of the line, as far as my opinion goes. I am very happy with this unit, especially considering the price. The HD option in this radio pretty much eliminates AM listening from my habits. When I do listen to AM, it is very clear. I also like that I can charge my iPhone 5 and listen to my library through a crisp/clean connection. You won't go wrong with this radio! [ LANCE R  Dec 21, 2013 ]
I have played music from a thumb drive. Only problem I had with that is that a pause is inserted between every song, I listen to a lot of live music, and that pause would interrupt a musical segue between two songs. Using an old iPod now, no pause. [ JEFFREY  Dec 13, 2013 ]
    I'm sorry, but I don't have any mp3's . I also haven't tried any thumb drives. [ ROLAND  Dec 12, 2013 ]
Interesting question as I just plugged in my sansa mp3 player to this alpine deck and it is not working. It works perfect on my pioneer in my other car. I like the alpine but am mad that my mp3 player doesn't work so far. I haven't called yet to try and get it working yet just to let you know. [ DANIEL A  Dec 12, 2013 ]
I was able to add music on to a USB thumb drive and play it. I saved me from buying a iPod just to listen to digital music! [ Mark  Dec 11, 2013 ]
Please contact an advisor by phone or chat to discuss using the Steering wheel controls on your vehicle. Not all receivers, and not all vehicles will allow for the retention of factory steering wheel controls. [ Jeff  Dec 04, 2013 ]  Staff
This receiver does not come with a remote, but we do sell remotes that are compatible. The least expensive of which is the RUE-4202. [ Jeff  Nov 26, 2013 ]  Staff
This receiver will work with the speakers already in your vehicle. Feel free to contact an Advisor by phone or chat for more details on how this will work with your current gear. [ Jeff  Nov 11, 2013 ]  Staff
