Item # 500CDE143B | MFR # CDE-143BT
You'll drive safer with Alpine's CDE-143BT CD receiver in your car, courtesy of its built-in Bluetooth®. When a call comes in, you'll see your caller's phone number on the screen, and you can answer the call by tapping the phone button on the front panel. You can adjust the mic's gain to best match your speaking voice, plus you can also tweak the phone output and ring volume, so you won't go diving for the volume knob every time someone calls. The CDE-143BT also supports Bluetooth audio streaming, so you can listen to any of the content on your Bluetooth equipped smartphone without a tangle of wires on your car's console.
Enjoy iPod control, Bluetooth, and great sound with the CDE-143BT.
Once you plug into the convenient front-panel USB input, you can use the CDE-143BT's controls to navigate your iPod's music library. Your riders will appreciate Passenger Control Mode, which lets them play DJ while you focus on driving. You can adjust your sound to taste with one of the ten equalizer presets or by using the 3-band parametric EQ.
Plug in your iPhone and you can also listen to some of your favorite music apps, like Pandora®, Rhapsody, and others with Alpine's App Direct Mode. You'll have basic control of music functions playback functions, such as play, pause, and next track from receiver, while you use your iPhone's touchscreen to other functions of the music apps.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Average Customer Review(s):
Great stereo, easy to control. Super satisfied
Pros: Easy to install and control
Cons: Haven't found any
Great functionality, love the look. High quality Alpine stereo. Installed in my 2000 honda crv. I would highly recommend buying a right angle driver attachment or a right angle screwdriver for removing the factory stereo.
Pros: all available music formats, clean look.
Outstanding stereo! Easy to use. However, beware of the microphone! There are no installation instructions for it. I ended up disassembling my dash a second time to hook it up. There are two ports on the back of the stereo next to the wiring harness connection, the microphone connects to the upper one.
Pros: Great sound, easy to use.
Cons: No instructions for microphone installation.
Very nice system for the price. Does everything I wanted it to do and is simple to operate. Definitely recommend
Pros: Great Bluetooth sound Pairs easily to iPhones Inexpensive
Cons: Only con I can think of is needing to select Bluetooth music as the source and not just simply playing music from my phone. Didn't expect this product to have that like my 2016 Sierra, but would definitely be the icing on the cake for this system
Wired up easy and easy to use. Got the install kit too which made it a complete breeze. I'll only buy alpine and once again I'm a happy customer. Using this with a 400w Rockford Fosgate amp and 2 10" Rockford Fosgate P2's. Eventually going to switch out the door speaker to Rockfords as well.
Pros: Love the layout and Bluetooth hooks up flawlessly every time. Great sound and ease of use.
This unit replaced a factory stereo in a 1990 chevy astro. original owners manual has 2 pages of info regarding operation. The COMPLETE owners manual for this unit is 46! LOTS of bells and whistles but im happy with it.
Worked great, easy to navigate menus. Paired with alpine amp.
Great unit. First time Alpine buyer and was looking for easy phone setup for young driver. Super easy and peace of mind with hands free. Will spend the extra for Alpine products. Well worth it.
Pros: Easy set up. Clean interface. Looks nice.
Money well spent.
Great sound and very easy to use.
For me Alpine has always been a great radio.
Great stereo, always loved alpine decks.
Pros: Great looking stereo, easy to hook up
Cons: To few opinions with the sound
Does what I need it to, CD player, Bluetooth, far better fm reception than stock, and when paired with type- s 5x7's the sound quality is fantastic with no eq needed.
Pros: It's an Alpine
Cons: none, so far
Love this product. Have in 2 vehicles
This head unit does everything as advertised, quick and easy, with plenty of power and features.
Pros: Plenty of power, great bluetooth features, user friendly.
I got this unit for my 1989 Ford F250 HD to replace the very old factory stereo. I had already replaced the factory speakers with Infinity Kappa's. This Alpine head unit really brought them to life the sound from those little 6.5 inch speakers is amazing. Install was extremely easy. And just for an added bonus the blue lights on the Alpine just happened to be the same shade of blue as my truck, looks really good.
Pros: Hands free phone. Excellent sound. Easy installation. Looks great. All the features I wanted with none I didn't want.
Cons: None so far.
Really good product especially for the money. I would buy it again. I purchased this because the factory radio and Bluetooth were dying in my truck. Crutchfield was awesome as always and the receiver is solid in every way. The microphone for voice command and phone calling is excellent.
Pros: Solid performance all around Great phone call fidelity Great value
Cons: Controls are a little small for people over 40! :)
Solid receiver and great blue tooth sound. Clear phone reception with wired microphone.
Installed in my 2000 Silverado without a hitch. Also didn't have any problems installing. Badump tsch
Pros: Good sound, blue tooth works great with iPhone 6
Cons: Was supposed to have high and low pass filters, haven't seen them in the settings. Possibly either because I don't have a sub hooked up yet or I need to look in the manual to see how to access it
I love the new radio I put in my Jeep an I feel you can't go wrong with an alpine radio
Pros: Alpine makes a great product and sounds excellent in my Jeep
I just installed this stereo into my 97 Corvette. I was reluctant because my original car stereo is pristine and had it semi-working with Bluetooth with a little add-on that you connect to the antenna. Yes, the 12 cd-changer was great 10 years ago, but you get tired of the same songs and forget to change the cds. But the sound was very low quality and often high range sounds would get interpreted as static and sound would go a little in and out. After several years of compromised stereo experience I had enough! So I got this stereo, liking it's clean look, and hoping for the best. Wow, am I glad I did. This stereo is awesome. In addition to the usual, it interfaces really nice with your phone - forwards to next song really fast, has a song search feature, interfaces with your phone contacts list so makes it easy to find the person you want to and the sound is great. Only thing I have to get used to is it seems to take a little while to power up sometimes, but I'm guessing that is due to a bose interface add-on that makes it better tie with the oem bose speaker system.
Pros: Great sound Clean look Ties with your phone's contact list making it easy to make a call Very good interface with your usb thumb drive or phone
Cons: Adapter instructions a little confusing. Easy to plug connectors wrong. Two plugs are the same, so just match the wire colors. Powering up sometimes very slow - maybe due to bose speaker system adapter
Great head unit. All the features we were looking for.
Excellent receiver for the price does everything I need it too. Just needs a little improvement with android call compatibility. Crutchfield send you everything you need to make any install a breeze
Great CD stereo. Alpine stars are awesome. I've had a bunch of em
I had a local automotive shop install, the technician was initially reluctant to agree to install until he found out the Alpine CD radio was from Crutchfield. Excellent !
Love the unit and service best place to buy audio equipment.
Pros: Easy to use and install.
Excellent radio. Does everything I want it to. I installed it in a 2003 Ford F150 and works great.
Great radio to maneuver around on . Easy set up - easy installation.
Pros: Has everything I wanted and needed -
Cons: Only challenge for me was how to keep the radio from sliding in and out with the installation kit I received. I eventually figured it out. The other challenge was that the back of the radio for the blue tooth mic is not labeled. I had to google how and where and how to plug the mic into. If it is in the instruction manual, then I think I overlooked it.
Overall this is a nice, good sounding unit, with one large deal breaker for me. Disappointing Bluetooth phone connectivity. It rarely would see our Samsung Note 5 or Motorola Droid, let alone connect reliably. Even manually pairing the phone did not always guarantee it would connect. Crutchfield was awesome and made the exchange easy. Unfortunately the 2nd unit was even more unreliable and had to be returned as well. Once again, Crutchfield stood behind its products and is the reason I will continue to purchase all my car audio from them.
Pros: Looks good. Easy to read display. Front USB port. Clean audio.
Cons: Unreliable Bluetooth.
Sound quality is fine, but the unit is barely acceptable. The panel light "dim" setting is still far, far too bright for night driving.
Pros: Good sound. Easy to install. Bluetooth worked first try.
Cons: DISPLAY DIM setting is WAY TOO BRIGHT for night drivingCrutchfield response on 5/8/2017 Wayne, we're sorry you're disappointed with your receiver. Great deck. Shopped around and found this was the best price with the free installation gear you get which made installation a breeze. Got it in the mail the next day. Tech support is great on product knowledge.
Pros: solid alpine quality
absolutely love it, plus the install pckg you recommended was so much less expensive than your competition and was all we need. The hands free pckg was perfect and being able to remoove the faceplate is excellent.
Pros: price, hands free and removable faceplate
My personal opinion best CD player on the market for the money
Pros: High power Bluetooth cd radio
Nice deck easy to use
Pros: Easy to use and an easy Install
Cons: Can't change display color
Great unit, love all the features for the price, cd, usb, aux input and blue tooth works great. Buttons to select the stations are on the small side and I don't have large hands, so something you'll want to consider maybe.
Pros: Great quality, sound and features
Cons: Small channel buttons
Easy install, and increased sound quality out of the box. Unit is easy to use and the display is easy to read. My only complaint with this unit is the display brightness. While it does have a dimmer wire, and a manual dimmer function, these are still incredibly bright. My car with untinted windows is lit up at night like I have blue LEDs wired in my interior.
Cons: The display is very bright!
Very easy to install with the wiring harnesses.
Sounds great ! easy installation
Pros: Remote works nice no reaching up the dash
Cons: none so far
Beautiful product with exceptional sound for this price point. Connected seamlessly with my iPhone to allow for streaming Spotify. Display shows song, album, or artist with ability to forward or reverse thru playlist. Receives FM and AM with excellent signal and clarity. Easy to install. Highly recommend
Pros: Simple, intuitive set-up and operation. Sound quality
Cons: None identified
Great unit, easy install, and seamless integration. Everything you need.
Pros: Bluetooth, USB, Aux, phone integration and a powerful unit. Plays well on stock speakers.
Decent after 1 week. Still making adjustments. Sounds ok, but some controls/buttons don't seem very sturdy or durable.
Pros: Decent sound
Cons: Adjusting the sound/equalizer is a bit tricky to figure out, and I question the long term disability.
Works as advertised. I was concerned about the power since it was rated lower than my old unit but I think it sounds better and louder. Great unit for the price.
I have put this same receiver in more than 3 vehicles so far as a direct replacement of the aging stock unit. Not only does it make all music sound better, but the included bluetooth hands-free features increase safety, especially when driving in NH where you must use hands-free mode (no mobile device use permitted while driving). Easily pairs to my Android phone for seamless music streaming, voice control, and phone call handing. The included mounting and wiring kit make the swap into any vehicle a snap. Will buy this receiver again!
Just installed this in my 2011 Grand Caravan and it is great. A lot of features for the money and very user friendly. Great sound in a compact and feature filled unit.
Pros: Ease of operation Plenty of features-CD Player, Bluetooth, USB, Aux. Input
Love the unit! Fit in the car as recommended, and has all the features we were looking for and at a great price. Totally satisfied!
Completely satisfied. Great product.
Pros: Ease of operation
Went with this one on the recommendation of your sales team. While the sound is good, the phone side of it is not so good... even after adjusting the settings. Every one I talk to sounds like they are in a bucket. Pandora was another feature that I wanted to use, but most controls have to be done on the phone rather than an integrated menu on the reciever.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 3/1/2017 We're sorry you're disappointed with your new receiver. Whenever you encounter a problem with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our tech support team right away. They can help you solve the problem or set up a return within 60 days of purchase. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
I installed the Alpine CDE-143BT on my 1999 BMW 328i Sedan and very happy with it so far. The quality of sound is great and installation is easy as well. Variety of sources to play music - CD, Bluetooth, AUX, and USB. Everything works like a charm, and Crutchfield is the right place to buy it!
Pros: Sound quality, easy to install, variety of sources, good price
I am really liking this deck. It is layed out nice and works great.
Pros: very easy to use.
Cons: Could have more than 3 bands of EQ and more amp power. Nitpics.
Very impressed, easy to install and use, bluetooth links very easily, calling is cystal clear.
Great radio I'd buy another one if I needed one
Pros: Everything works. Easy to install
It's my first aftermarket radio I have ever gotten and I am honestly in love with it!
Pros: Does pretty much everything I need it to.
Cons: Can't change the color illumination
Love Alpines- always have. Simple to use, great sounding stereos. Crutchfield is the place to buy from too!
Pros: Easy to use. Easy installation with Crutchfield's help. Great sounding radio. Alpine quality.
Went in smooth with no problems
Really good stereo gave my stock speakers way more power. Definitely would recommend anyone who is trying to spend alittle but get something that's quality this stereo
Can't beat this head unit for the price. Alpine quality, no extra thrills thrown in there to drive up the price. Looks great too. Haven't tried the Bluetooth yet but I'm not expecting any issues with linking my iPhone after reading other reviews.
Pros: Easy to hook up, sounds good, looks great.
Cons: As mentioned in other reviews, this unit doesn't have tons of EQ settings. If you want all of those options you're going to pay for them.
Much needed upgrade for the factory CD player in my 2001 Tacoma. After a couple weeks I realized I like it so much that I ordered another one for my 2000 Dodge van. The second one arrived today. Looking forward to installing it this weekend.
Pros: sounds great - and really isn't that the most important thing? USB drive plugs into face plate Bluetooth installation instructions were clear and easy to follow, wiring harness makes installation simple
Cons: can't think of any
GREAT SOUND, EASY INSTALLATION, WONDERFUL SERVICE.IT IS A PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER.
Pros: TOO MANY TO LIST
Works great. I've had it installed for a month and have used the receiver, the CD player, and the blue tooth for the phone.
The Alpine CDE-143BT works great with my tablet plugged into the AUX jack for using Google Maps GPS. It was easy to install, but the instructions didn't mention anything about unplugging two cig lighter plugs and the headlight switch. I really like the stereo, and it sounds great. The display is bright enough during the day too.
Pros: Great stereo for the money
Cons: None that I have found.
Works great and very easy to install!
I bought this as a replacement to the factory unit in my truck. Sound quality did improve, but not nearly what I was expecting. Also, you do not have many EQ options. I recently decided to try out a Pioneer head unit and I am so much happier with what I have now. I bought a Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS and yes, i know it is more expensive but certainly worth the more money. Overall I would not recommend this head unit.
Pros: Looks, and that's about it
Cons: Sound quality could be better, turns off by itself, also when you receive a Bluetooth call, the alarm is as extremely annoying. Certainly better things on the market. Don't be fooled by the Alpine Brand.
Great quality for the money and it is not nearly as complicated as most aftermarket units. Also very good iPhone Bluetooth calling integration.
I told my advisor what I wanted and this is what he recommended. I am totally happy with this product, its ease of installation, and ease of use by adult senior.I was concerned about the radio display and my advisor assured me I would like this unit and he was right on.
Excellent stereo. Simple to use and connects to my phone easily.
Easy operation, way too easy install. You'd be foolish to PAY for install. Alpine once again is superior. No garbage lights novelty just quality
2001 MB E430 Fits perfect, easy install, sounds better than the original Becker head witht the factory Bose system, and easier to use.
Solid and basic receiver that does what it's supposed to do. I love the Volume Knob thanks Alpine for keeping up with a rotary knob! Install was painless, and sounds great. Good choice for those who don't need a lot of technology in their dashboard and a standard DIN size unit.
I wasnt an Alpine fan but Troy suggested one and of coarse i was sceptical but he also said they have a 60 day return policy. I couldn't be more pleased. Just added speakers too and it sounds absolutely great even without an amp. Highly recommended!
Pros: Easy to operate. Great conductivity. Clear calls. Clear sound.
Cons: About the only i thing i would change is the source. You have to scroll through all of them to get to where you want to go. I rather like to only scroll through whats pluged in or connected.
I bought this so I could hook up the Alpine KTP-445A amp to it. There is no substitute for WATTS. This is the second vehicle that I have installed this combination in. Add some Infinity Primus if you are on a budget or Kappas if you are not. You will not be disappointed.
Great radio for the price. I bought the open box and was very happy. I had an older Alpine and the radio just went right into old harness.
Pros: Hands free option works well. My iPhone works well with this radio.
Cons: None that I have found.
Great stereo for the price (Alpine 143BT). Shipping was fast (4 days). I removed a Panasonic with the same specs as this Alpine. The sound is much cleaner on this unit. I had read bad reviews on the Bluetooth previously, but found those to be wrong. Probably user error. Synch was simple and Bluetooth features are excellent. Crutchfield included the mounting hardware wiring kit nad insatllation instructions. Install was a breeze. This unit was an open box special. It arrived in excellent (new) condition. I wil definitely purchase from Cruthfield again.
Pros: Sound Quality, Price and Bluetooth
The alpine 143BT is a excellent CD player the eq is easy to use and works very well. I have old factory speakers that sound completely different when the Alpine 143BT was installed. I was shocked how well old speakers sound with a new alpine installed. The instillation was easy and the Bluetooth works flawlessly.
Pros: This alpine puts out serious power the eq works very well The Bluetooth is excellent
Great head unit. Wanted something nice but not too fancy for my commuter car. I had to play around with it to figure out the eq settings and what sounded best for my car. Bluetooth is great and connects to my phone everytime I turn the car on. The mic and sound quality are great when I am talking. I recommend this unit.
Pros: Easy install, Bluetooth connectivity, sounds great paired with my alpine power pack and kicker speakers.
Cons: None that I can find.
So far so good with my new Alpine CDE-143BT. Crutchfield did a nice job with the getting me all the stuff I needed to do the installation and to a few calls on Sunday to get through the installation. No hitches. The Alpine CDE-143BT is easy to operate (including setting up the Bluetooth). I would recommend this device and Crutchfield without reservation.
This is an excellent head unit. The sound is a huge improvement over the stock HU in my Mazda 3. It has a bunch of useful features for adjusting the sound. My only complaint is that it doesn't support lossless audio on USB, but it's not a huge deal.
Pros: Audio quality, features
Cons: No flac support
Everything works OK and the installation went OK but this radio doesn't sound as good as my original Ford Ranger AM/FM/CD radio. I'm still tweaking audio settings.
This radio is a very nice car radio. i really like that Blue tooth connection to my iphone and especially the ability of the radio to tell my iphone to pick up where i left off in Audible as soon as i start the car. I was not expecting this. The radio will even start the app, if i had it closed on my iphone.
Pros: nice appearance Great bluetooth functionality ability to kickstart my iphone to what was playing last while i was in the car
Cons: If you set it up so that it connects to more than one iphone, it remains connected to the most current phone. you have to disconnect bluetooth and reconnect bluetooth in order for it to recognize a different iphone again. It does not dynamically switch to whichever iphone is in the car.
Great product! Once the device is paired you are set to roll, no more fiddling with re-pairing. Sound quality amazing - harness wires good quality, blue tooth works well for a jeep TJ. On the highway I can hear the radio, and use the Bluetooth. I installed the Bluetooth on top of the steering wheel, clipped onto the dash- the guy at the shop said it was the best location, I am agreeing with him!
Pros: Options options options
Cons: Learning about the files is different.
I paid for the simple face- not too bright or flashy. It sounded great before we replaced the speakers- and after, it's amazing! Easy install/great results.
Pros: Style, ease of use, CDs, USB, AUX and Bluetooth!
Cons: Syncing up the Bluetooth is not self explanatory- make sure you're saying YES to sync device.
Great. Easy. Works.
Pros: Everything. Sounds great. Easy to use. Built well
Cons: No remote but not a biggy
After nearly a decade, and a couple different vehicles, my other head unit finally took a dump on me. i went online and found a well reviewed bluetooth head unit, and this was it. my last car stereo cost me $260ish, and i have to say, you get much more for your money now. this stereo sounds great. i can hardly wait to hook up some amplifiers again. having an iphone, i love the USB and bluetooth features. they're both very quick to read and begin playing audio. i bought this for the bluetooth feature, but i more often than not end up using USB. One cool set of features is that when you're connected via bluetooth, the radio will display your approximate battery status and your signal status. it won't show separate bars for signal strength, but will blink when you're in questionable service areas. good to know if you're streaming audio, or in the middle of a call. i mounted the microphone in the middle of my dash and im afraid that it receives too much wind interference there. im going to try mounting it on the headliner where it's out of the air current and i'll test it again. although longwinded, i can't say enough good things about this stereo for the price. Alpine for life.
Pros: ease of connection, interfaces beautifully with iPhone, surprisingly clear audio for the price.
Cons: i can't honestly think of any cons. i didnt have many expectations upon purchase of this, and it hasn't really left me wanting anything more. it doesn't seem to be displaying the artist/track names though. not sure if there's settings i need to mess with to make that happen.
The Alpine unit was easy to install and once in, had a very clean look. The head unit really woke the infinity sound system up. The Bluetooth capabilities are really nice, and it makes road trips a lot more enjoyable now that I'm not stuck listening to the radio all the time.
Pros: Bluetooth Looks good in the truck
Great price, alpine always a good choice. Great help from Crutchfield
Works great. Put this in my wife's car and she could not be happier. Install was easy and the sound if great.
It works, but its not like OEM.
Pros: It has quite a few features, like bluetooth, CD, etc. The wiring harness works, but its strange that you have to bug all the wires together... Crutchfield was very helpful and I would definitely go back to them again.
Cons: The mounting system seems very poor. Going over a rough road may cause your system to eject...
Inproved the sound quality in my truck and work van by 500 percent. Blue tooth is the bomb. Picks up at the turn of the key, no delays.
Pros: simple install on both
Cons: minor wiring hic cup in van , but tech support was on it
I loved my factory radio. Receiver, CD, Cassette deck, joystick balance and fader, but one day I turned the volume up to 11 and it would never turn down again. This Alpine was a top seller and had great reviews so I ordered it to replace my beloved factory radio. Crutchfield shipped the same day and I had it two days later. After soldering and heat-shrinking the wiring adapter, I plugged it in, turned it on... and no sound. I called tech support and the guy knew which receiver I had and what I was installing it in without me telling him anything! (Scary) Turns out my truck has the Infinity sound system and the blue/white wire on the receiver has to be connected to the blue wire on the adapter. Danged if I could find that info in the instructions though. A quick solder job later and the thing works! It sounds great! Not a lot better than my factory radio, but it's noticeable. The display is bright enough for daytime use but not blinding at night. All the controls are fairly intuitive except for the clock. I had no trouble setting it, but I can't figure out how to get it to display the time. Overall, I think it's worth what I paid for it and Tech support is 'scary' helpful, but I just wish I could get it to display the time.
Pros: Sounds great, easy install (except for the wiring issue).
Cons: How do you get the time to display? It may not be that big of a deal to some, but I'm not sure how much of it I have left.
Works very well. Huge improvement over my stock radio.
The unit only put out sound one side. Alpine must be slipping in their quality control. Their name used to guarantee a top notch product.
Cons:Crutchfield response on 6/7/2016 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
All I can say is wow. Bluetooth capable, everything I needed to install it for less than $220! Most shops wanted $200 bucks just for the install. I'm a happy customer. Thank you Crutchfield
Bluetooth connection works great, sounds quality is also very good. The phone function works very well, but sounds quality coming through is a bit muffled, but i think that's more an issue of my speakers. Very nice unit-- would highly recommend for the price.
Pros: Value, Ease of Use, Bluetooth Connectivity
Cons: Muffled Phone (but think that's my speakers)
The stereo is exactly what I wanted. Great sound quality, even from my old speakers.
Pros: Aux, Blue Tooth
Excellent quality for the price
Pros: Great features
I've been using Alpine since the late 80's. This unit is just another great example of why I only use them. Between Alpine and Crutchfield, it doesn't get any better.
Pros: Alpine and Crutchfield
Inexpensive replacement for the factory cd/ radio great value
Pros: support help one phone call away
Cons: Instructions not that clear but the help desk got me thru it
Love this stereo. Made my stock speakers sound great. Love the Bluetooth hands-free, works great. Was really easy to install myself.
This radio is okay, but it is not very sensibly documented, and I probably would not by it again.
Pros: Nice blue LEDs
Cons: I don't like it; very difficult to use, and nothing is clearly marked or makes much sense.Crutchfield response on 5/17/2016 Whenever you are disappointed with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.
I have bought 5 radios in the last 3 years. 3 pioneer, 1 kenwood and this alpine. All mid level units with blue tooth and hd except the alpine. The alpine although more expensive considering the features appears to have focused on quality and simplicity rather than the corny blinky light show that is overly bright on the other two products. I had to purchase 3 Pioneers to get the current good one.
Pros: Simple controls. No junky light show
Cons: No HD
Will not buy anything else since getting this system . Great Product !!
Very nice head unit for the money! Head unit detaches and allows to be stored in separate case. Will be nice for anti-theft.
Pros: ease of use, good sound quality
Best price, best stereo I've had!
I was impressed with the quality of this unit and would recommend it to others.
Pros: ease of use, quality
I mainly use the TUNER and BLUETOOTH audio streaming. All display is easy to see even when the convertible top is down and sunny. Minor issue but really annoying..... 1. Selecting CLOCK display will overwrite showing any other display on other modes such as BLUETOOTH STREAMING. i.e.When you switch the display to show the CLOCK, then will only show the track number and time when using Bluetooth Streaming. Also if you choose to display SONG TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, ETC in BLUETOOTH then it will only show the radio station when you switch to TUNER. Long story short, you can't show CLOCK in TUNER mode and also show SONG TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, ETC in BLUETOOTH mode. 2. Even though you have BLUETOOTH paired, it will not reconnect if......You turn the stereo on and iPhone is not set to BLUETOOTH radio, but then you turn the BLUETOOTH on. There is a 3-5 second window where you can. If you miss that window then you'll have to go into iPhone Bluetooth settings and select ALPINE STEREO. This is a super pain. To save you trouble, just make sure you iPhone Bluetooth is ON! Before you start your car.
Pros: Easy install and setup. Adjustments were intuitive. Bluetooth pairs easy. Bluetooth mic is sub-par for clarity.
Cons: 1. Any display chosen in a certain mode will override any display setting on other modes. For instance, you can't show CLOCK in TUNER mode and also show SONG TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, ETC in BLUETOOTH mode. 2. Detachment/Attachment hook feature always gets caught! The detachment feature is a pain to "easily" detach. The hook feature always gets hung up. You have to press the detach button and let it "Fling" open. Bad usability design.
The radio paired easy, everything worked flawlessly. I have been an Alpine fan for a long time now and not ever had any complaints about their products. Love doing business with Crutchfield.
Great receiver, great sound. Helps get the most out of factory speakers.
This is my second Alpine radio in this car. The first one I bought and had installed locally. It was an HD radio, and man, that was terrible. I don't blame the radio as much as the concept. Here in the mountains it would switch from broadcast to HD and the delay between the two signals was frustrating. I could not find an option to turn off the HD feature. So I decided to buy another radio. I went with this Alpine for a couple of reasons, it was similar to the previous model I had, which made installation a breeze. It used the same connections and parts! It also looks good in the dash, the blue matches the blue of the VW. And it's ease of connection via bluetooth is another selling point.
Pros: Easy to install, looks great, not HD
Cons: none yet!
Nice replacement to my OEM radio. Crystal clear sound. Puts out good volume. I was originally going to run through my amp but the amp blu a transistor. I was surprised by how good it sounds. Controls are easy to figure out.
Pros: Good price, good sound, good looks.
Just a quick note about my Alpine/Polk system that came yesterday. Could not be more satisfied! The system sounds great and your customer service was second to none. Had planned on hooking up my speakers last night, but things went to so well, I was jamming before I went to bed. THANK YOU!!!
Pros: Extremely easy to hook up. The only question I had was about my amp, and your phone tech walked me right through. Sounds as good as advertised, great value!
Cons: None whatsoever.
I am very pleased with the Alpine CDE 143BT stereo tuner that I ordered from Crutchfield. My son and I installed the unit yesterday and it sounds great. I knew that Alpine would have high quality sound and it didn't disappoint. Installation was not difficult, even for a couple of first time "installers". We soldered the power wires and used butt connectors for the speakers. We had no real issues and we knew if we had a problem the Crutchfield Technicians were just a call away. The next time we need to purchase a tuner we will definitely buy from Crutchfield.
Pros: We could have purchased this tuner from other sources, but we chose Crutchfield because of the Technical Service. They were helpful during the purchase process and we did have to call to have one question answered during the installation (we couldn't get the face plate off of the tuner to remove the Single DIN frame). I also appreciated the videos for each unit and the comparison feature on the website. Those two features also aided in the selection process.
Item was as described and easy to install! Free shipping always makes it easy to purchase online.
Pros: Great fit for my vehicle Sounds great Easy installation
Cons: I was aware the sub woofer wouldn't be supported by the unit but also didn't support the clock and compass display on the dash. Something I can deal with though.
Two thumbs up. One for Alpine and one for Crutchfield. 10 years ago I bought an Apline CDA-9856 cd player/tuner with ipod control for my daily driver - a 2000 Tacoma. Way back then I called and talked to a Crutchfield rep to make the order. I wanted to order 4 new speakers too. The rep. amazed me when he told me to try the new cd player with the stock speakers and wires. Sure enough, he was right. The stock stuff sounded great being pushed by the Apline. Fast forward 10 years and I bought this new Alpine. Install was simple and Bluetooth works great with my iphone, and so do those same old Toyota speakers and wires. Price was very good too. I don't know about you, but when a company rep. advises me not to buy more stuff from him unless I find that I really need to, I want to do business with that company again, and again. Now that I'm hooked on the ease of use of Bluetooth, I'm going to have to replace the stereos in my other cars.
Pros: Great looks, easy to use, Iphone music sounds great over bluetooth and price
Cons: None here
Great radio for a good price. easy to use bluetooth. great sound quality
Finally decided on this head unit. No regrets here. Sounds great, looks great, easy to use, blue tooth is crystal clear with no distortion. This is the best unit for your money.
Pros: Bluetooth, easy controls, good sound quality
I shopped around, best price for this unit, it works great and is easy to figure out, appears to be well built and looks good, I will be buying a second one for my motorhome soon.
Pros: Is everything it is advertised to be.
I was looking for a basic stereo receiver, with built in Bluetooth functionality, and good audio quality. I have definitely found it in this deck. Super easy to install, I had never installed a stereo myself before. Don't waste your money on paying someone to install it. Youtube is your best friend. Worth the money, great audio, super easy to install, and its an Alpine. Enough said.
Cons: Would like to be able to set the volume for the audio, and the blue tooth audio to be the same level. Right now if you are listening to Bluetooth audio or making a phone call and switch to the radio or cd the audio is ridiculously loud!
Great stereo with powerful sound. A major step up from my sony stereo, which was a piece of trash. I will never buy Sony again. Pushing my alpine speakers and 2-12" subs perfectly fine. Although I still cant figure out the bluetooth phonecall microphone to work, but it may just be me. Also, I dont like pushing the buttons when I have to reconnect my faceplate; they should have left an open space that wont cause excess pressure on the buttons.
Pros: Intuitive layout. User friendly faceplate.
Cons: Buttons that toggle folders via usb and repeat options do not light up, so its difficult to see what Im pressing while driving at night. Biggest annoyance: When on bluetooth audio setting, it will not emit sound when i play something off my phone. I have to toggle thru CD, radio, aux, usb, BACK TO "Bluetooth audio" for the stereo to emit sound from my phone.
I'd purchased a cheaper head to provide BT, CD, and USB support. It was a nightmare of unfinished software. As far as I can tell at this point the Alpine does everything right. Tuner performance is good, sound quality is great, all functions work smoothly. The unit is also allows volume balancing of all the source inputs. I have no complaints.
Pros: good tuner performance. allows volume balancing of all source inputs. Uses the car light control input to auto-dim. Great sound quality.
Very easy install. Looks & sounds great. My only complaint is you have to hold the button down for two seconds to power off the unit
Pros: Good looks. Clear bright display screen
I have a 2001 Mercedes E320 and the radio finally died and I ordered this Alpine to replace it after seeing so many good reviews. What a nice little system this is. I have the Bose sound system in my Mercedes and this radio sounds great. Bluetooth connectivity to it with my iPhone was a breeze. CD sound is excellent as well. I feel that my car has gotten a significant upgrade with the Alpine. The build quality seems excellent. I know you can spend a lot more on a replacement head unit, but this one really does the trick. You even get a microphone included for voice commands and phone calls. And Crutchfield puts everything you need in the box to install and it goes into the existing space with no modifications. Well done Alpine and Crutchfield!
Pros: Feature set for the money Sound quality
The Alpine CDE-143BT was an easy install in my 2002 Tahoe. The wiring connectors and plugs provided hooked with little problem; I just have to use one wire from the smaller GM plug and add it to the radio plug to run the original installed subwoofer. The unit puts out enough power to power the Pioneer and and Kenwood speakers. There is a learning curve figuring out some of the controls. I don't like that when the Ipod is plugged in, the unit takes control of the Ipod and I'm unable to change anything on the Ipod unless unplugged from radio. The blue lighted control area is nice and not distracting. Overall, it's a good quality basic unit with cd player that allows USB or smaller plug accessories.
Easy to install with the instructions that were provided. Really happy with the sound. This is my 2nd Alpine.
Pros: sounds good
Nice receiver. Good value. Bluetooth works very well. Exceeded my expectations.
Pros: easy to use simple to install installation instructions and Crutchfield help were great good sound, especially via iPhone
Really great radio- helped make my Saturn a little bit nicer! Great sound, love the Bluetooth connection to play my music and answer calls
Pros: Bluetooth connection Light up blue Quality sound Fairly inexpensive
Cons: Older style Don't like the power on/off button
The product is a perfect quality sound system...
The sound system on the 2005 Honda Odyssey was on its last legs. No longer could it play CDs and there was no input of any sort. But I am not a handy guy and so I was reluctant to replace it. But your service complete with all the parts I would need and great instructions made this so easy I finished it before the guy I asked to come help me got there!
Pros: Great, simple easy to understand.
Cons: You undersold how easy you made it.
great product! makes stock speakers come alive to full potential! only thing i would say is a downfall is the bluetooth.sometimes i got to reconnect it to my phone again. dont know if it is bad connection or what. it shows my music playing but there is no sound just i just toggle through to bluetooth again for it to connect.
Pros: sound. quality.
Cons: bluetooth could be better
I got this stereo to replace my Forenza factory unit. It blows it away and once I fought the dragon to install it,,,am glad I did. Love it!!
Pros: Great sounding CD player, USB player, Radio. If it would make you a sandwich would be perfect.
Cons: Not having this stereo.
Bought this for my nephew he loves it hands free calls music etc
I was looking for a direct replacement with Bluetooth capability and USB. The instructions were pretty straight forward and the install was fairly easy. The two challenges I ran into was (1) the wiring adapter had the [Ignition] and [Battery] pin positions reversed for my application. So I had to remove the pins and reverse them. The stereo will function with them reversed but any saved settings such as the radio stations will be lost every time you turn it off. Even though It is supposed to be a direct plug in, which it probably is for most applications, it was not on my 2004 Sprinter. (2) There is a microphone in the head unit storage box for those of you that want to use your cellphone Bluetooth feature. It was very difficult running the microphone through the factory enclosure as there is no access underneath and you have to feed the wire through a very tight and small area inside the enclosure. After that it was not bad at all. The quality of the sound was immediate and did not disappoint. This is a huge improvement over the factory system and well worth the effort. I later replaced the factory speakers with JBL GTO429 4" 2-way Speakers and installed an older Alpine 5 channel amp I had and some Kicker CompRT 40CWRT672 6-3/4" Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofers and made custom enclosures for them. So far I'm very happy with the head unit and now have a real nice sound system.
Pros: Fairly easy install, very clean sound, lots of nice adjustments and options.
Cons: None with the unit
Great unit for the price.
Pros: Easy to use and sounds great
Cons: Still need to look at manual to set the clock..
Was looking for an easy to install, easy to use head unit that could upgrade me to bluetooth and that could use the Alpine powerpack as i upgraded to reference series Infinity speakers a couple years ago and wanted to get their full potential... Am not disappointed at all!! Have upgraded to Alpine head units for over 16 years now, the only head units I will go with!!
Pros: Ease of use, bluetooth, compatible with Alpine power pack1
Cons: Still a bit small, the faceplate is not very easy to take off
This is the third Alpine CDE-143BT I have purchased from Crutchfield. I have one in my wife's Jeep Liberty, one in my Mazda 5 and one in my 97' Suburban. The sound quality is excellent, but what I like the most is the ease of use and fairly intuitive controls. I really dislike controls that require pushing multiple buttons while watching a tiny screen to change mode, source, etc. Having the same unit in all our cars really make it easy to move from car to car and not have to go through a learning curve each time. We also have Sirrius Satellite radio in all 3 cars, plugged into the aux port on the front of the unit. We can then switch the satellite head unit from car to car, which is really convenient.
Pros: Good value, simple controls, intuitive operation
Good product for a good price
All in all, this unit has a ton of functions and I'm still discovering them.
Good radio/CD changer for my '95 BMW M3. With the Crutchfield adapter it uses the factory amp which eliminates the need for additional wiring. It sounds good, has bluetooth capability, and fits the dash with no problems. I think it is a little clunky in that it seems to take forever to scroll through the source choices. To go from radio to BT (Android phone), for example, takes several clicks. And the faceplate trim piece seems very flimsy. Overall, though, a great value.
It is bluetooth to my samsung galaxy . Easy to install to my 2001 Toyota Sequoia.
I am impressed with the quality and the functionality of this bluetooth receiver. I have yet to setup bluetooth to connect with my mobile. Routing the microphone wire proved to be less of a challenge because I used a long push button grasping tool to fish the cable jack behind the dash to the radio mic input. That was my greatest worry but it turned out just fine.
Pros: Build quality, ease of switching inputs, sound quality.
Cons: none I can think of; Alpine is still king.
Awesome unit for the money!!!!
Pros: Bluetooth for iPhone 1-5
Cons: No Bluetooth for iPhone 6. Didn't say that when purchased.Crutchfield response on 9/23/2015 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to help the customer. From our research, this Alpine receiver is compatible with the iPhone 6. We'll either help him get the receiver working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.
Excellent unit. Great being able to use bluetooth in my 2003 vehicle. Excellent sound quality even with factory speakers. Fits seamlessly in my dash. I am very happy with the choice. Called Crutchfield twice during instasllation and they were very helpful.
Pros: Look, sound, bluetooth
Cons: Minor cons include most buttons too small (as with most if not all aftermarket stereos), wish the microphone was smaller, and don't like holding source button down for 2 seconds to turn it off.
Easy to use with good sound quality. Love it
Pros: Easy to use
This head unit arrived quickly. The installation was a breeze, with help from a few sets of instructions. It is easy to use and has improved the sound quality over the stock system quite a bit.
Pros: easy install, sounds great, easy to use
Cons: Only blue and white light
No issues with installation or use
This deck does it all at a great price! Bluetooth, USB, and a great receiver all in one package at a price which wont make you have sleepless nights worrying about it in your jeep or convertible. JUst hands down a good value and a great product! (Be sure to note that the microphone is shipped inside the removable face plate case.)
Pros: Hands free bluetooth or USB to phone; great sound!
Cons: nothing in directions to tell you where they packaged the microphone (in face plate case) Called crutchfield to order one (not knowing it was included) and the astute rep told me where to look...and...Surprise! It was there!
Easy installation in my 2012 Corolla. Works perfect. Sound quality is a big improvement.
Pros: Easy installation Good Price Easy Setup
It was a very easy install with the free components supplied. One hour to get the system working.
Pros: Would do this again
Such a sweet stereo. I love it. Super easy install
I think this is the all around best values at Alpine offers for the money it gives you the basic features that you need without any of the Xtra frills bells or whistles great value would recommend this to anybody for entry-level CD radio
Head unit is just OK it's nothing extraordinary for the price, the sound is good and the detachable face seems a bit low quality and flimsy.
Pros: Ease of installation, I pod/ I phone hook up directly up front
Cons: Cheap low quality feel to detachable face, priced a bit steep for what you get.
I've been using Alpine decks back into the 80's. Always great quality. Having the Bluetooth is nice.
Pros: Easy install and setup. Great value for the price.
I absolutely love this stereo. As with every alpine product that I have used I am still very satisfied.
Pros: Ease of use Excellent sound quality Very nice appearance
Cons: Only wish that it had different color displays
Awesome radio, easy installation and quick connection to Bluetooth capabilities
The bluetooth audio has a few hick ups and the iPod randomly disconnects and you have to turn the receiver off and on again. ...... but, the few hickups are pretty minor considering how many features I got for the money. It sounds great and has all the features I want for half the cash of the other models I was looking at.
Pros: Sound, features, look.
Cons: Build quality
I bought this stereo to replace the factory CD/AM-FM player in my 2003 Tundra to get the HD channels locally and use my andriod and apple phones. It is a really good price for the number of features you get. It's not a good as a touch-screen, but if price is a concern, you won't be displeased with the value.
Pros: not a pros
Cons: not a cons
Great radio at a great price. I'm old school and this new Alpine was easy to lean how to use. I love the bluetooth phone pairing option and all the input options for my ipad ipod and usb. Alpine was the stereo to have growing up in the late 1970s and it still seems to be high quality sound equipment today.
Pros: installation was easy with the wiring adapter the Crutchfield team set me up with.
Cons: No DVD player
Real nice unit. Would buy it again.
Pros: Bluetooth, Auxiliary plug, usb.
Great value great sound. Very easy installation with Crutchfield support. Thanks.
Pros: Great sound Great value Easy install
Pros: Easy to install and use.
Cons: Pretty basic. Nothing too exciting.
Pros: Easy to use functions and great sound quality
Cons: None that I have found.
Love everything alpine. Can't beat this cd player for the price. Love the hands free calling and Bluetooth music function.
easy to use and has all the bells and whistles that you want. It sounds grate and with your help it fits good and easy to install.
Love Bluetooth connectivity
This unit is packed with features. Sounds quality is good. The Factory EQ settings actually make a significant difference unlike older units I've had from competitors. The blue tooth sounds great. Installed it on the right side of my steering column in a 98 4runner. Some people didnt even know I was driving during a call.
Pros: Bang for your hard earned money. It's packed with high end features.
Cons: Doesn't come with a remote.
This is a very good deck. With the free installation pieces sent it was pretty straight forward, a call to Crutchfield answered the one question I had. The Bluetooth and iPhone control work great. I have had many Alpines in the past and this one doesn't disappoint. I may purchase another one for a different car.
Pros: Easy install, very good sound, many options to customize sound. Bluetooth and iPhone control work well.
Cons: Couldn't change the display color, but it's a very small con.
I really like this deck, the sound output is great as with all alpines. Others said the Bluetooth was difficult to set up, but I found it to be quite easy. It does come with instructions after all. Only fault I found was that the USB only works w/ thumb drives or this one random Nokia phone.
My radio in my 2004 Honda Accord stopped being reliable, and I needed a good quality replacement. This is it, I don't have use for the Bluetooth, so I cannot comment on that. So far very easy to use, I have not looked at the manual yet.
Pros: Easy to operate. Alpine + Crutchfield = A winning combo!
Cons: None so far.
This has been a great unit. Really like the bluetooth feature.
Recently bought this, installed it in my '03 Honda Civic EX to replace an old Kenwood, which by the way, is also an excellent deck. The installation was easy, the included wire harnesses and dash din were also a piece of cake to install. Instructions for operating the deck were simple, even for myself a woman. Thank you Crutchfield for excellent customer service and prompt delivery of products.
Pros: Bluetooth,??CD,iPod,mp3,flashdrive, and auxiliary input capabilties are a BIG??,along with the adjustable 3-band equalizer ranges??.All for a great price.
Great easy to use
Overall this is a great single din receiver if your looking to upgrade your audio system.
Pros: Easy to use for the most part, nice design & appearance, & I love the volume knob because it give you the old school feel.
Cons: Only thing that didn't work for me is the blue tooth sync for your Android or Iphone.
These guys have there act together period. The Alpine fit right in perfectly and the wiring harness plugged right in and hooked up in 15 minutes flat and was playing really nice. Somebody before me did the hard work of taking the dash apart and installing the kit for the radio. All I had to do was to change out the Din bracket and was good to go. This is a very nice Stereo with some nice features. All I wanted was to shape the music to my ears. This unit has Bass, Mid range, Treble, Fader, and Balance, along with Sub-woofer and a hos of other stuff I just cant remember right now. This unit is really worth the reasonable price Crutchfield charges. Everything you need is included except the butt connectors for the speaker wires. I love it, and thanks guys, I am very pleased. Sincerely S. Thompson
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: No remote.
Great sound and love the big sound knob!
Good quality product
Pros: Several device interaction capabilities (AUX, USB, BT)
Cons: Display color lighting cannot be changed to match your car console. (only blue)
Wish I had installed this a couple of years ago! Love the sound and the blue tooth feature! I would highly recommend.
Pros: Easy to use
The unit was hard to get set up. I have not got the Bluetooth to work with my Android phone. The radio sounds ok with the original factory speakers and the wiring harness worked fine. The connectors worked great and the mounting bracket after modification worked out fine. I did not use the Ford Radio key supplied as I all ready had one.
Pros: It plays music fine.
Cons: Bluetooth set up not clear in instructions or does not work with my Android Samsung phone.
I got this unit to replace a factory unit that wasn't working to well. After installing this unit I realized how the factory unit was weak compared to this unit. The sound is much better and I don't need to crank it up like I had to on the factory unit.
Pros: Decent sound
Cons: Owners manual is not very good and doesn't really have very clear instructions. Ended up getting a better one at website.
It fit perfectly into my Porsches dash and does everything I wanted it to and more and it does them all well.
Pros: Very cool looking, works great, easy install, lots of features,
Cons: Pricey, complicated to run at first.
I replaced the OEM unit in my '05 Ford Escape with this unit and I'm thrilled with the sound and features. Sounds great and no more having the reach for my phone when it rings. What I don't like it the unit is blindingly bright at night. Yes, it does dim when you turn the headlights on, but barely. I solved the problem with a small piece of window tinting. Right now I can easily take the tinting on and off to suit my needs, but if you can find just the right amount of tint you can leave it on permanently. Otherwise, the instructions that came with the mounting kit were bad, kinda like a 3D puzzle, but once assembled the kit was a perfect fit. Also, the quality of the unit does not seem as tight as as an Alpine I got 5 years ago for another car, although the unit works very well. Plays Pandora and all music wirelessly with no problem and it's easy to move through the menus on my iPhone 4.
Pros: Incredible features for the price and works very well.
Cons: Way too bright at night. Solved with some window tinting.
Great radio I purchased 3 of them one for each of my cars
Pros: Based on the price this product is great I have 3 of them. The ease of use however is not that great. Once you get it figured out its no big deal but getting to that point is tedious. installation was a breeze once i called the Crutchfield guys; this was installed in my 2000 dodge ram 2003 dodge ram and my 1996 grand marque overall it was easy to install in a three vehicals. Good Buy.
Cons: No color control only gets blue. settings are confusing. very little customization value, sound customization only.
Easy to install and sounds great!
Based on the price this product is great. The ease of use however is not that great. Once you get it figured out its no big deal but getting to that point is tedious. installation was a breeze once i called the crutch-field guys; this was installed in my 2014 dodge dart and i ran into some hiccups but overall it was easy. GOOD BUY.
Pros: alpine, lots of sound settings
Cons: no color control only gets blue. settings are confusing. very little customization value, sound customization only.
Classic alpine sound and power! Switched from a pioneer ipod controller unit to the alpine blue tooth and I love the change. Alpine has a distinct sound in my opinion; products sound "punchier" over pioneer, sony, and kenwood.
Pros: Sound quality- price
Cons: No shuffle setting for USB input.
stereo is great I installed one in 2003 crv and one in a 2004 element with kicker door speakers sounds great way better than the factory crap.
Pros: great for the price
Cons: you have to spend some time figuring out all the buttons other than that, great
Very clean nice sound. Takes a while to learn how to use it. You need to down load the full manual to start with.
Pros: Good Alpine low distortion sound quality. Very sensitive FM receiver while driving in the mountains. Provides front panel audio and USB ports as well as Bluetooth. CDE-143 BT is reasonably priced with great friendly support helping with the installation.
Cons: Takes some time to learn the set-up.
For someone who's done a few this was pretty straight forward. First time for 2 din and a little extra needing to remove other parts attached to stock unit, but it all came together perfectly. I liked having the Crutchfield support team on hand for questions. Others mentioned no illumination wire but personally it does not bother me at night, so I'm letting it go.
Pros: Easy installation & direcitons
Install was pretty easy, only bad thing I could say is the instructions could be a little better.
good value, radio sounds good
Pros: looks good, easy to see display with top down
Cons: phone sound quilty could be a little better
Great product. Love Alpine car audio players. Best of sound. Good quality and long lasting. Would not have nothing else. I really am pleased with this.
Pros: Good crisp clear sounds, has good different levels of sounds for the highs, and overall just good product.
Cons: Don't really have but one downfall for me is that the USB should be android compatible.
Really like the radio in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Installation was very easy with the supplied wiring harness. BT works well and was easy to sync.
Pros: BT audio, easy setup and installation.
Cons: Can't voice text with BT on.
The Alpine 143 BT is easy to use, sounds great and has all the features I needed for my 1988 VW Vanagon. I paired it with four JBL speakers and I plan to add a powered woofer soon.
Pros: Easy to install, ergonomic controls, good sound and olenty of power.
This CD, MP3, Bluetooth, and radio receiver is awesome. Basically you just hook up the speakers, ground, hot, and ignition wires. Then install the receiver. Very nice for the money. No complaints!
Pros: Easy wiring
Cons: No internal antenna. Just hasn't been done yet.
i also have had issues with the sound cutting out or not starting on bluetooth when playing music through phones or ipad. Called Alpine the said this is not normal. Manual is hard to understand.
I installed this head unit in my 2001 BMW 330CiC! It was fairly easy to install and the folks at crutchfield support were great! What I am so impressed about is all the features this unit has for such a low price. The blue tooth was a little sticky to get started with my android but once going it sounds great! A feature I really need because I drive a stick.
Pros: Value Sound features
Cons: If you have a BMW you will have to modify the basket! I used a dremel tool to cut out the plastic! With the filter, steering wheel adapter and harnesses there is alot to jam in there. Also I ended up putting the microphone on the scosce plate because I did not feel like ripping the dash to thread it to the drivers side windshiled coulom. I used velcro and attached it to face plate.
I really love Alpine components, and have an older CDA-9887 in my car along with two of their PDX amplifiers. So when it came time to upgrade the factory setup in my girlfriend's car Alpine was on the shortlist. After comparing a few Alpine and Pioneer products I decided that the CDE-143bt was a perfect fit both from a functional aspect as well as an aesthetic one. It's got all the features she needed and none that she didn't. Installation was straight forward in the 2009 Gallant, but I did run into one issue and this meant a call to Crutchfield for assistance. This is where I take a moment to commend Crutchfield on great customer service. My call was answered immediately, no phone tree to navigate, and the tech representative I spoke to was courteous and knew his stuff. I told the tech the symptoms (sound only coming from front tweeters & rear speakers) and he looked it up quickly and let me know that there was a factory amp that needed to be bypassed in this car, he sent me pictures of the amp, the harnesses connected to it and a list of which wires I would need to tap into. You should absolutely factor in Crutchfield's great service when considering your purchase. Sure I could have found the answers online on some random forum, but who wants to do that when you can get a quick answer that you know will work? not me that's for sure. So minus that small hiccup the installation went smoothly. The sound quality was clearly improved and the girlfriend is happy. A+++
Pros: Bluetooth App direct Clear display Good Quality audio USB and AUX inputs Crutchfield tech support Looks good
Cons: none that I've discovered so far
My wife accidentally threw away the faceplate to the Kenwood unit I had installed in our Honda CRV. I found out that the faceplate costs a lot to replace. I figure I'd check with Crutchfield to see what was available as a new unit. I wanted Bluetooth, HD radio, axillary & usb inputs, ease of use (my wife is technologically challenged) & quality sound. I found this Alpine CDE-143BT. It fit ALL of my needs & costs less than a faceplate! The Kenwood was nothing but a pain in the ass anyway, so I'm actually glad she trashed the faceplate! The Alpine sounds awesome right out of the box & any adjustments were simple & intuitive. Has all of the important bells & whistles with none of the aggravating hoops you had to jump through to adjust or even change settings in the Kenwood at a fantastic price . It makes me wonder if she threw the Kenwood plate away by accident or just threw it out on the highway in disgust! Either way is fine by me!
Pros: Bluetooth, Aux input, USB input (which will charge your phone), HD Radio, intuitive, Quality sound.
for over 4 decades Crutchfield's people have dedicated themselves to greatness thank you so much love the alpine 143 bt best buck twenty nine I ever spent every thing a breeze even after not having installing a stereo in over 30 years usually just buy a new car but I love the vw bug ever
Installed this unit in my Chevy Express cargo van. Fairly easy install, sounds really good. Its got a lot of features I really appreciate, but with one fairly large downside. Probably the worst menu navigation I have ever experienced on virtually anything ever. I know there is a lot going on here, but how on earth the designers at Alpine came up with this is beyond me. You can read the manual over and over while you sit in your car and still get confused. Its like a twisted game of finding the menu you want, and trying to understand how you did it and wonder if you will ever find it again. I dread the day I have a passenger try and find something on there and attempting to explain it to them.
Pros: -Easy to Install -Lots of features -Sounds great -Easy to connect with other Alpine products
Cons: -Difficult interface and menu navigation
1998 Oldsmobile factory radio with tape unit died so I wanted something with Bluetooth. Found it great that Crutchfield not only was giving you the radio, but the harness, faceplate, and antenna needed to install. I was replacing a 4 din slot and wanted to make the most of the space so I bought an aftermarket faceplate that had a pocket and installed the radio in my car. Crutchfield even supplied my cars mfg wiring and for the most part it was correct. I did have to ohm out a few of the wires as the colors didn't match, but not a big deal. I soldered the harness to the radio harness and plugged it into the factory harness and it worked without any problems. Sounds good and great value for a stereo with Bluetooth. So far, my Pandora kicks in when I'm in the car and when I leave it shuts down until I'm back in the car and it starts up again. Phone works great and it wasn't that big of a deal to run the mic up through the dash and along the side paneling and along the top panel. Aux works well as does the USB for music sticks. Volume leveling is great since each device levels were different. General settings were easy to navigate and setup clock and other things like the display. My wife likes it so much she wants me to install one in her Jeep. Like someone else said, for some reason, I can't get Google Maps to work over the stereo.
Pros: Included hardware and wiring needed to install with instructions for make of vehicle. Good value, easy operation.
Cons: Navigation doesn't come across the stereo for some reason.
Great sounding receiver. Solid construction. Easy to install.
Pros: I had a 5 year old Alpine in my old truck that still sounded and worked great but didn't have Bluetooth. Bought a newer truck and went with this unit. Sounds great. Mega improvement over the stock AM/FM it replaced. Don't have to crank the Bass way up to have it sound good. The Bluetooth hands free functions very well with my Samsung S5. Incoming and out going voice quality is very good and the BT music playback is excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to my friends.
Cons: The SEARCH function seems limited by the number of characters it can display . Cant be used while driving. I need to sit down and play with it to get the hang of it! This issue maybe related to the file structure of Windows Media Player and the fact there are 260+ albums in the library?
Great product Alpine never fails
everything it was sent with this unit worked perfectly
Pros: ease of installation sound quality nice display
Cons: understanding some of the features on the screen
I just love this in my '85 CJ-7 the Bluetooth hands free calling works great even in the noisy cab of the jeep. Functionality is good and does exactly what I need it to do in my Jeep.
Don't have much words BUT EXCELLENT!!
Does everything I need it to and sounds great too !
great stereo. fit perfectly in my 97 gmc sierra. Bluetooth pairing works almost flawlessly and the included mic is very clear. I have 3 minor problems with this stereo. When you pair a something over bluetooth it wont play the sound through your speakers, so you have to shuffle through the sources to fix this and go back to Bluetooth audio. If you receive a call and have music on fairly loud the ringer for your phone will pierce your ears, it needs to be more quiet. I play music through a flashdrive and the titles for the songs do not appear too well. Other than these 3 minor things this is a perfect stereo that I would purchase again.
Pros: Sturdy, feels heavy, easy to operate, many sources to play audio
Cons: ringer too loud, occasionally bluetooth audio glitches
I bought this unit as an upgrade to my daughter's factory tape deck in her 90's model Ford Ranger. WHAT AN UPGRADE! Her truck has power everything, but most features of the Alpine weren't available for it in 1994. The head unit was easy to connect to her iPhone via bluetooth. The FREE wiring harnesses made it a snap to integrate the Alpine into the Ranger's factory wiring. The sound is great, no matter which source you're using.
Pros: Bluetooth for hands-free phone calls and music streaming. USB and 3.5mm auxiliary inputs 3-Band parametric equalizer Price Sound quality Free support and installation accessories from Crutchfield
Very impressive stereo. Installed in my daughter's 1999 Jeep Wrangler. Very easy installation. Connected easily to her I-Phone. She loves it. I like knowing she can now use her phone hands free. One note on installation: This has an external microphone for use of the phone. We completed installation and could not get the outgoing voice to work on her phone. Called Crutchfield and he informed me about the microphone. For some reason it is packed in the case for the detachable faceplate. I would have never looked for it there. Had to take the unit back out to plug this in and reinstall. Not a huge deal, but wish we had found it earlier.
Pros: Great sound, Great looks, Hands Free Phone use
Cons: Packaging of the microphone in faceplate case
Ease of wiring adapters, ease of installation, ease of use, Incredible features!
Wanted to upgrade the factory receiver in a 08 Ram 1500. Install was easy, instructions provided by Crutchfield were spot on. Sound is very good, better than what I had, bluetooth phone works perfectly. And I saved over $80 by not buying from an installer. (Sorry local business...) Looked at higher priced models, but for life of me couldn't figure out why I would need them. Had to splice a lot of wires thanks to Chrysler's odd wiring set up, but adapter worked as it should.
Pros: Easy install, good sound, clear sounding blue tooth phone, good price.
I bought this receiver to add iPhone capability to my wife's Jeep Liberty. I chose this model for its ease of use. My wife doesn't like change I was taking a risk swapping out her stereo but I wanted to give her hands free calling. We recently bought a Bose Bluetooth speaker and she loved it. This receiver has the ability to work the same way with Bluetooth audio streaming and it works really well. I added the steering wheel control adapter and bought it all from Crutchfield for the high quality install kit. There is one catch with the harness adapter as there is one extra wire on the Alpine harness. I matched all the colors and it turns out that it's actually the blue and white wire that needs to connect to the blue wire on the factory harness otherwise the radio works but the CD ans IPod functions don't. I found the answer with a quick online search. I haven't changed the factory speakers (yet) but it sounds really good! My wife is thrilled with it and I'm happy I can call her now without worrying about her rummaging through her purse to find her phone while she's driving! Wisconsin roads just became a little safer!
Pros: Value - Features for the Price Bluetooth Audio Streaming Ease of Use Sound Quality Easy steering wheel control connection with 3.5mm plug Crutchfield install kit
Cons: Harness issue to connect blue & white wire to blue wire - could add an instruction with harness
Great receiver easy install and has more functions then I realized like the db adjustments.
Pros: Easy install nice features and looks good
Great stereo to replace your factory one.
Cons: Would be nice to be able to dim the dials. Very bright at night.
You cant beat this radio for what you get for the money.
Pros: Easy to Sync. Easy to Install and great sound.
Just had this installed in my 2002 Toyota 4Runner. I love the features this unit offers, especially the hands-free Bluetooth phone feature. Makes my factory speakers sound even better, too.
Pros: - Design - Controls - Bluetooth feature - Cost is reasonable
Great receiver for a awesome price! Install was pretty simple, I just wish the rear mount had come with a proper screw. Had to dig around for one because the factory screw wouldn't work.
Pros: Look, BT, sound, EQ
Cons: The source button is not perfectly level on the face. Only a OCD person like me would notice though
Bought this for my son's Mustang as a Christmas Present. Delivered quickly and was easy to install. All the directions and special tools and equipment that came from Crutchfield made installation a snap. He is very pleased with the sound and quality of this tuner.
Pros: Special Tools and equipment that comes with the tuner. Easy installation. Works perfectly. Great sound quality.
Got this for my sons Jeep for Christmas so we are only a few days in to use but so far it seems like Alpine continues to build a great stereo. Granted most 17 year olds are pretty tech savy but he never opened the instruction manual yet has everything figured out and working properly so I would say ease of use is quite high. Overall great improvement on sound but the true test will be once new speakers and amps are installed.
Pros: Great looking unit, easy to use, multiple source inputs.
Cons: None yet.
Everyone that has gotten into my car has been in awe at how much i spent on the unit, knowing it was an alpine and all it came with. my cousin bought one years ago with a screen and he was just amazed at how many adapters he had to use to get the blutooth, ipod and everything going, and when he got in my car and the stereo began to play the last song in my ipod, he said didnt u just show me this song, and i said ya, its playing from my ipod in my pocket. def something to show off. not to mention the factory to an aftermarket deck, no joke, made my system sound 4x louder
Pros: Blutooth, Sound, clean look
Easy install and sounds good, happy daughter with new radio
Pros: Good price
Cons: None to report
I'm a long time Alpine users this is one of the greats and they gave you everything you need to connect your Bluetooth connected very fast with my RAZR droid
As usual Alpine delivers! I have had many stereo installs over the years as I am almost 40 years old now, I no longer want a fancy computer for a head unit. I simply enjoy ease of use with great quality sound, as well as build and adjustability. This may be the flat out best bang for buck radio on the market right now! Would certainly buy again. Was going to upgrade the wives radio in her vehicle, but we just went a bought her a new model Chrysler 200S AWD and it came loaded with OEM Alpine 10 speaker system, including tweeters, mid woofers , and an 8 inch subwoofer powered by a meager 501watt amp, it is mind blowing sound quality, hence there is no need for any upgrade now!
Pros: Ease of use, full adjustability, incredible quality!
Cons: It's not FREE! LOL!
Small learning curve for an old guy but great vale and easy insatll
Cons: Needs better install instructions that are vehicle specific.
Great media radio for the price hands down. I had this for 6 months and no problems at all and the sound quality is amazing. If you looking for something simple that interacts fine with your devices and don't want to break the bank then this is the unit you.
Pros: Amazing radio for the money
This un it has a professional-level design. No 4th of July light shows. They certainly worked hard to produce a display readable in daylight but not Las Vegas at night. The advertised DIM feature only dims the backlighting of the keys about 5-10%; it does not dim the display when headlights are turned on.
I switched from an old jvc to a new alpine. Huge difference. Bluetooth works flawlessly. I really like my new alpine!
Good product, easy to install, worked the first time, paired with my phone the first time, fits in the dash! Everything needed was included and the instructions were spot on.
I had issues installing it and it was my fault. I got frustrated but the whole time had an exceptionally patient professional on the other end dealing with me. I ultimately took it to my area mechanic and one of his guys found a loose wire and that was that. It looks and sounds incredible. Everything works as it should. Crutchfield is exceptional with regard to equipment, parts needed for install, instructions, and professional walk you through the process assistance.
I was a little anxious about doing a self install and not having it go smooth. The materials i.e.removal,wiring instructions, trouble shooting were "spot-on". I did have to call the support team twice, because of something I did not understand and they were professional and helped through "my issue". I had no problem and am totally satisfied. I would recommend the Crutchfield Team anytime to anyone.
Pros: Ease of installation, value, ease of operation, attractive looks and sound quality using the OEM speakers.
Cons: The manufacturers operators manual could be a little more detailed regarding the BT "hook-up" and operation.
This is a great upgrade to an older factory head unit. It is easy to use. My unit's USB input did not work but Crutchfield provided excellent service to get a replacement to me right away.
The radio works great. Bought it to replace stock radio in 2001 PT Cruiser. Great to use with my MP3 player. The instructions from Crutchfield, along with the wiring harness and face plate, were great and made installation very easy. Just a word of advice, if the face plate doesn't seem to fit right, fiddle with it and it will move into position correctly; it's just a tight fit.
Pros: Sound quality is great. Like have the CD AND Aux hookup for my MP3 player. Light is not too bright to be distracting.
Cons: Takes a little bit of work to get all the settings correct, but after that it is easy to use. Wish the clock stayed lit when the radio was turned off (I leave it in Aux mode so the clock shows).
Overall I am satisfied with this head unit. I was really disappointed with the fact that I have to make it connect to bluetooth on my phone manually every time I get in my truck, but maybe that's just me. I was really hoping that it would automatically do so, seeing as how my friends older Alpine radio does this flawlessly.. but regardless I'm a fan of the sound quality that this unit provides, the controls are fairly user friendly, and it doesn't look bad.
Pros: Good sound quality, decent looks, not bad for the money
Cons: Bluetooth function leaves much to be desired in my experience as it doesn't automatically sync with my phone when the radio turns on.Crutchfield response on 10/28/2014 Our Tech Support team has reached out to Samuel to help him solve the auto-connect problem. Crutchfield Tech Support is free with every purchase and for the life of the product.
this is a good deck. i love the bluetooth.
Bought this receiver to replace my old Alpine head unit because I'm in the courier business and it comes with bluetooth and costs only $130. I've been using it for 2 weeks and everything functions great. Love it.
Pros: Features Price Alpine
This Alpine Stereo was an outstanding purchase. The sound quality is excellent. It was fairly easy to install and I did not have to make any modifications for it to fit into my 2004 Trailblazer EXT. I used the RP5-GM11 replacement interface that Crutchfield suggested and I was able to retain all safety features and steering wheel controls. I am very satisfied with this CD receiver.
Huge improvement over my Honda Pilot's stock receiver in terms of sound! Much louder and well-defined. iPod controls are nice to have and the hands free Bluetooth works well with my Android phone. Highly recommended!!
Pros: Sound quality and connectivity options.
Cons: None really. The installation takes a little time, but Crutchfield's guide made it very easy. Defintely worth the savings of having to pay for an install.
I love just about everything this stereo provides I'm super satisfied with every penny it cost and most definitely will buy another alpine when I have to
This receiver/CD player has an excellent tuner w/digital read-out. Built-in 15W amplifier creates much better sound from factory Ford speakers(soon to be replaced)... almost like hearing old songs for the first time. Plays my iPod through the USB port while offering expanded selection modes. Easy to install w/Crutchfield kit... and a good deal.
Pros: Great tuner, excellent sound fidelity, converts rear speakers to subs in base mode, install kit a perfect fit.
Cons: Controls are complex but instructional CD is a big help. Functions operation is a learning curve.
Easy installation, great sound quality, reliable.
Pros: Great Alpine quality
Always been an Alpine fan. This Deck didn't let me down. Easy to install and sounds great. Connects with ease to my Windows phone .
Good value and ergonomics. Simple design. No useless bells and whistles.
Cons: none so far
Great stereo for a great price with great sound.
Pros: Easy installation, great sound and easy operation.
Cons: Have not found any cons yet
I needed to replace the stock radio on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. It would no longer play CDs. I had purchased car stereo equipment from Crutchfield about 20 years ago and had a good experience. I looked up Crutchfield again, called a friendly sales representative that lead me to stereos that would fit in my truck. I recently bought a new smart phone so I wanted something compatible. The Alpine stereo works great and was easy to install with the free wiring harness. I now listen to music from my smart phone through blue tooth, This is a great stereo at a good price.
Pros: Sounds good, easy to install, easy to use.
Cons: Did not come with a metal bracket to brace the back of the unit in my 1.5 din stereo compartment. I used some scrap metal to make a rear support. If your stereo compartment is 1 din, then this would not be an issue.
i really like the ability to pull in radio stations i could not get before plus all the other goodies it has
Pros: Great Stereo
Works great in my 99 4Runner easy installation and sounds great
Pros: Can keep my phone in my pocket, safer to use
Cons: Kinda confusing to set up
Nice sound and features. Front speaker to rear speaker fade could not be connected properly using the manufacturer wires on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Installation involved modifications to the received schematics. So there is no fade. Wifh that said the sound and features are great and we are happy with the system.
Pros: Great sound abd features
Cons: No fade. Check to make sure it's compatible.
This is a great unit, very cheap $129 for everything, no shipping or taxes. I had a older Alpine CDE-9845, so this was pretty much a plug in for me, I love this unit, It's a lot cheaper to get this than get pulled over for a ticket and get fined.
Pros: Ease of use, i've been using Alpine Decks since 1994, they keep the functions the same. Very easy to use
Cons: NO cons, just wished I had gotten this 4 years ago.
Worst subwoofer compatable deck I have ever owned. With a 500 watt alpine amp and the radio tuned like I had my kenwood the subwoofer was hardly there very little to no bass at all on volume 25 sub setting on 15 and bass on 7.
Pros: Treble and mid range great
Cons: Bass or lack there of
Let's just run down the list. Value - At $129.99 plus all the stuff you need to install it you can't go wrong. Built in bluetooth that works like a champ and streaming BT audio from my droid? Hell yeah!! Sound Quality - WOW!!! My factory speakers actually sound good in my F150! With different ways to adjust the sound exactly like you want it, even cheap speakers can sound good. Ease of Use - Menus are straight forward. None of the submenus go to deep to be confusing. I never read the manual. Didn't need to. Station presets, sound menus, bluetooth settings, etc. are pretty straight forward. Coolness Factor - Who really cares unless your 19? It has a clean look without all the flashing lights that do nothing to make the unit better. I didn't buy it for pretty colors, I bought it for functionality and quality....Which brings me to the final point. Build Quality - It's an Alpine! I expect quality when I buy an Alpine. No surprises here!
Pros: Built in bluetooth with a 10' (foot) cable for the mic you can put anywhere in the vehicle. Straight forward menus that never go too deep to be confusing. Excellent sound quality with enough adjustments to make the cheapest speakers sound good. Not flashy, but clean look that would compliment any interior without alerting thieves.
Cons: I can't think of one......and I tried.....I really did!!!! Honest!!!
Other than figuring out a few of the buttons, this unit is an extreme value for the price. I replaced an original radio in my son's 01 Civic. The sound quality from this unit was amazing. Add the Bluetooth functionality for both playback and taking calls and this is the only unit to buy in this price range.
Pros: Excellent Sound, Easy Install,
Cons: Must "read the manual" to figure out some of the functions and buttons.
I would like to say that this is the best cd player that I have owned. I have only had it installed for a week now. This is only my 3rd deck. All of the decks that I had were Alpine. I like how the bluetooth automatically plays from my android phone as soon as I turn my car on. Right now I still have my stock speakers. But this deck makes my speakers sound better. Sounds very clear. And this deck also works well with my alpine type r subs and my amp. I am very pleased with this deck. And I will keep this for a very long time. In the future I will get aftermarket speakers and the ktp-445 amp. It will sound even better. I suggest any and everyone to purchase this deck. And this is site is the only one that includes the installation gear. This was a great purchase. By the way, shout out to REX. Rex helped suggest this product to me. Good thing that i was able to talk to Rex.
Pros: Bluetooth, clarity, loud, good presets, makes my factory speakers sound better, I like the dash kit that came with it to match the interior of my car, easy to use, nice blue color illumination, i like that the plate is detachable, nice scroll button,
Cons: only bad thing is that when I have my google maps(gps) on it doesn't work through my bluetooth.
Radio arrived very fast with all install parts except for crimp caps. I wish they were included or I had known because that caused a special shopping trip to pick up a $2 item. Installed in a 1997 F150 pickup in about 2 hours. The original AM radio no longer had reception, the new radio has good AM reception, as well as FM, with CD, aux. input and Bluetooth. I am new to BT, and was pleasantly surprised that an incoming call caused the radio to power up to accept the call. The controls require some time to learn and the buttons are small, but that is not unique to this unit. The display is bright enough to see in the day. The clock goes off when the unit is off (I can't figure out how to keep it on, which I would prefer). The sound is superior to the original radio, even with the original speakers still in place. I recommend this radio as a good value, and Crutchfield provides all that is needed (parts, directions -- except for crimp caps) and does it very quickly for a fair price.
Pros: lots of features, decent sound, good value
Pretty basic receiver, sounds better that oem system
Pros: sounds good
Cons: no remote
Just installed the unit in my 2004 Dodge Stratus and the difference in sound clarity, accuracy, power, and overall quality is absolutely amazing VS OEM. I only changed the head unit and my car now sounds like it has an entirely new sound system. I was initially a little weary by the lower RMS wattage vs. Kenwood, but it turns out that Alpine voluntarily has their radios go through CEA-2006 certification which has more stringent tests, while other manufacturers don't and tend to overrate their RMS numbers. You're getting the real deal with Alpine. FM is nice and clear, and the number of connectivity options make this an excellent bargain. Alpine also includes a Mic which I did not see in the pictures provided by Crutchfield. The only minor downside in my opinion is the color illumination cannot be changed to match your car's interior lighting, but I don't really mind because the radio looks sleek and grown up vs some other brands which look somewhat gaudy. Crutchfield support is the best in the business and they provided the install kit and harness for free. I'm extremely happy with both companies. Thank you!
Pros: Excellent Sound Connectivity Appearance Price Crutchfield customer support
Cons: Illumination color cannot be changed
great stereo for a budget unit
Pros: sounds great lots of options
Cons: the setup is a little time consuming
I also ran into a Bluetooth compatibility problem with my Driod Razr Maxx. I can't stream music to the radio over Bluetooth. I'm still looking for an explanation/fix.
I bought this back in December of 2013 but didn't get around to installing it until spring. Wow! This head unit sounds great in my '99 Chevy S10 pickup using stock speakers. I have a powered subwoofer in the back of the truck to enhance the low end. I've always thought Alpine equals good quality and this unit doesn't disappoint. Now that I've paired it with my Samsung S3 via Bluetooth, it's even better. I stream music and talk hands-free with no problems. I've also loaded a 32GB USB flash drive with music and play it as well. My future plans are to add a set of Alpine speakers to replace the stock ones and also install an Alpine amp to take it to the next level.
Pros: Great value, Bluetooth hands-free, nice clean output
Cons: It can't be perfect but I can't find anything I don't like about it.
We love Alpine stereos so we knew this would not let us down. We put it in our 1964 Nova and it's perfect. We did have to get an additional bracket since we didn't want to cut up our dash but that came free with the purchase of the stereo and looks great in the car. It has all the features we need, Bluetooth/hands free, USB, CD. We didn't go wrong with this purchase.
Pros: Great price. Great look.
Excellent performance for the price.
Pros: Fit well and parts kit made installation a breeze.
Cons: Controls took some getting used to.
I had originally purchased a Pioneer digital media receiver for my my 2006 accord and after testing it for a few weeks returned it for poor sound quality (was impossible to get full sound without it sounding over-processed). For only $20 more and with a cd player this Alpine worked a LOT better and without all the "dialing in" the pioneer was requiring. I found this unit works best when the "MX processing" is left off and that the bass/mid/treble adjustments are used instead. The parametric EQ adjustment is a nice touch, especially for the bass side of things. The Alpine a lot cleaner looking and better made than the Pioneer i had tried as well. Overall I'm very satisfied for this price point. I just ordered the 445A power pack amp to add in and we'll see if that helps even more.
Pros: Looks, Sound Quality
Cons: The menus take some getting used to. It's very easy to reset your shuffle order by accident using USB audio.
Installed in a 2004 BMW 325xi Head unit was super easy to install and fits perfectly in my vehicle. Piece was a perfect price and came with everything i needed to install a perfect fitting great quality radio. The sound quality is already so much better than my old radio and i still haven't installed new speakers. On top of everything it looks awesome. I would definitely recommend and buy this product again!
Pros: Perfect Price Great Sound Easy Install (including the hands free calling) Cool Look
Cons: Doesn't shut off with my car - have to power it down or it drains the car battery (i think this is just a remote problem in my vehicle im unsure if its the radio itself)
Very simple to use and sounds great in truck. a
Very nice simple install. everything snapped right int0 place. It took me and my son about an hour from start to finish. replacing all 4 stock speakers and the radio.
Pros: looks great sounds great , hands free works very nice too.
Cons: none that I'm aware of yet !!
I love this head unit! I purchased this and installed it in my moms car after her radio died. It was easy to install, instructions on using the hands free calling were a breeze, and it sounds awesome!
Pros: Hands Free Calling Easy Install Sound Quality
Volume knob and buttons seem solid and tight. Interface pretty simple and everything seems to work well. Sound quality was noticeably improved from my older jvc head however this is also surely due to installing the ktp-445A amp at the same time. Overall very satisfied and would buy again.
Pros: Great unit!
Cons: My only slight qualm is that the USB isn't on the back for a more hidden setup however I mainly use bluetooth anyway so not a biggie. Also I suppose the text scroll could be smoother however that is completely aesthetic and completely minimal.
A great head unit that has a lot of great features and user friendly. Unit has a lot of positive for a inexpensive price tag.
Pros: User friendly, great sound
This head unit is the best one I've ever purchased. Super easy to use, amazing sound quality, and extremely convenient. I was a little nervous about the install, but the instructions walk you thorough each step and the wiring diagram is very clear and easy to understand. All around great product. Would definantly recommend to everyone
I have had this car stereo for a year now and it still works great. My wife really enjoys using the hands free feature for receiving phone calls. The install took me a little time, but went well. I would recommend making sure you disconnect your car battery before installing the receiver in a Honda Odyssey. I almost had to take the vehicle to the dealer and pay $50 to have a dashboard warning light turned off. Luckily, I was able to reset it without having to go to the dealer. It wouldn't have happened in the first place if I had disconnected the car battery before installing the radio.
Pros: Great quality and easy install. It is a good value.
Cons: Features can be complicated
Alpine is a great brand to begin with but I am so happy with my new car CD/radio receiver. Great sound and so easy to use and flashy looking. Great price. Pretty nice addition to my Jeep.
I have had for about a month now. Very easy to install and setup. Music sounds awesome for the wattage. Bluetooth feature worked flawlessly with my phone and aux input is great for listening to books on tape. Great sound quality for the price.
Pros: Great value for the money. Great sound
Cons: None yet
It's a good solid replacement deck in my daughters Jeep. Sound quality is fine and the USB port is why I purchased. The deck was super easy to install and now the daughter can enjoy playing music from her iPhone.
Pros: Front USB port Good Sound Quality Super easy to use
Cons: None at this time.
Great sound.great cost love alpine allay had cassettes back in the day put amp on it wow
Pros: Blue tooth clean sound
Cons: No bass eng .not much else awesome
I purchased this unit for th Blu Tooth feature, but every time I would leave the cab of my delivery truck to make a delivery it would disconnect from my phone. There was no possible way to reconnect unless I shut the truck off or went thru my flip phones menu to reconnect. This was not practical to do twenty times a day. Crutchfield was happy to exchange for another unit.
Pros: Nice and simple
Cons: Blu Tooth connection dropped when exiting a running vehicle and not reconnecting on its own.
This was just what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised that the price was so low.
Pros: Cost, Ease of installation, Features including aux port usb and blue tooth
Cons: controls are difficult to read while driving
Great deck that does exactly what it promises on the box. Buttons on of face feel a bit cheap/plasticy and navigating menus take some time to get use to. Overall, still a high-value deck from a reputable brand.
Pros: Simple layout; Easy Bluetooth connectivity; Great sound
Cons: Cheap. thin plastic feel of some of the buttons.
I originally went to a local shop and found a deck that was a different model Alpine that didn't have a CD player and was $30 more expensive plus $100 for installation. I decided to skip the local store and go back in time when I used to install stereos as a high school hobby. This deck came with a master sheet for my 1998 4Runner that showed me exactly where all the wiring went and it was flawless! The removal instructions was so easy to follow and was spot on. Deck worked after I wired everything up. No electrical feedback noise or any other anomalies. Now that I've replaced the deck, I'm finding the need to replace my factory speakers!
Pros: Great sound, simple interface. Minimalist design with no 200 color hues to pick from. Just white labels and a blue knob.
Cons: This deck is supposed to have a high tech bluetooth system but it has a heck of a time connecting to my HTC ONE phone. But I just use the AUX port.
Great unit, easy to install for first timers like me.
Pros: Bluetooth synced effortlessly. Sound quality went way up even with stock speaker system.
Cons: Tiny buttons for big fingers, it's easy to hit the wrong one.
I've installed many stereos and this is one of the better ones. The reasons why- ease of use, gets signal everywhere, lots of connection capabilities, great sound, works with IOS and android, Bluetooth is incredibly easy to figure out, overall great deal for the price and features offered.
Pros: Quality, price, Bluetooth, USB, looks great
Alpine CDE-143BT one of the BEST stereo unit in the market today, I already installed my first unit on my Honda Civic LX combined with Polk Audio speakers just to give a complete upgrade and what I paid is what I get " Rich Clear Sound" from my front door to the back seat. If ever you played an instrumental music you can really tell that the stereo unit and the speakers really played it in harmony. CD/MP3 works great even in low quality format, 3 Band Parametric Equalizer really gives out the High and Low's of each music you played, BLUE TOOTH connectivity up to 5 units with active connectivity is really a PLUS on this unit I can control each Pandora Files easily , Display is only Two Tone which is White and Blue which I really like! Not Too Fancy on Flashy Light that can be a problem while driving at night. Now I'm installing my second unit for my Toyota Tacoma 04" I installed the same unit so my wife will familiarize her self on each button and menus, same as expected easy installation and very good sound quality, My newly installed CDE-143BT will be matched with my JBL Speakers and the result is superb, Just a shout out to Alpine Company Thank You for delivering the BEST product in the market today. Shout Out to Crutchfield You Guys really Rocks!!! Love buying from you all the parts that we need inside the box support online what can I ask for! Thanks a Lot to all of you guys out there from Honolulu - A-L-O-H-A!!!!
Pros: Easy to Install Great Sound Quality Solid Assembly BT Connectivity really Awesome Clear Display Easy to Use
Cons: NON at ALL!!!
I read some of these reviews before buying this head unit and they had me a little skeptical. However, this deck was incredibly easy to install and even easier to use. I can't believe people are having problems using this unit. I was able to figure EVERYTHING out without ever touching the user manual.
Pros: VERY easy to use
I bought this unit to replace a Kenwood KDC-X895 unit that still sounded great, but the faceplate would stop working leaving me unable to change a radio station or a cd track. The remote was just as useless. I have had Alpine decks in the past so I went back with this one. The sound is really good. I also bought the KTP-445V power pack and use it bridged for the front speakers. I have a 100 watt amp for the back pair. I also bought Kicker 40CS54 speakers for the front based on a recommendation from the rep, but it turns out they can't handle the powerpack. As a result I haven't really tested out the MX and loudness settings since I get distortion especially with bass drum kicks. I am going to upgrade my front speakers with higher wattage ones in July. The CDE143 is a good performing deck with controls laid out really well.
Pros: Sound, Controls
This was an incredible value! It was out of stock; but they had one in the scratch and dent bin. Can't tell it from a brand new one; I couldn't be happier with the value, quality, service, and speed of delivery. Oh, and I CAN'T leave out the outstanding customer support! Thank you Crutchfield! I also have a 450 watt amp on a 15" Memphis sub. It's all adjusted out so it can be turned to full volume; mind blowing clarity and unbelievable loudness. Best setup I've ever had part of putting together. We could probably tweak it to play louder without distortion, but why? This is safe on the speakers and the amps and we don't want it any louder! Thank you again Crutchfield for steering me in the perfect direction to exceed all of our goals under budget!
Pros: Everything, ease of installation, sound, seven separate inputs, four RCA outputs.... And it's an Alpine! Best purchase for under the money I can remember making!
Cons: I bought it for my sons car so I don't get to play with it excessively! LOL!
Very nice head unit. The only problem I had was running the wires for the aftermarket microphone. Whoever designed the plug that inserts into the back of the head unit should know that a 90 degree plug is much harder to pull through tight spaces behind a dash and through interior panels than a straight one! Very Stupid design! I ended up breaking the darn wire because I could not pull it through the dash easily. Nobody wants to disassemble the whole darn interior! It's soooo much easier to snake things behind panels but apparently the people who designed the plug did not realize this. Wouldn't be as much of an issue if it weren't the law to have bluetooth(which is why I bought this model!) Otherwise I love the unit itself and the sound quality is MUCH better than the stock unit in the '98 BMWs!
Pros: Good sound Great features for the price
Cons: Bad aftermarket microphone jack design
no complaints at all! this is a great stereo and does everything that I wanted it to.
Pros: Bluetooth works well, good sound quality.
Cons: low screen resolution, small screen, clock is not always there, cannot show most song titles without scrolling.
Great value. All features work as promised
This unit is a great entry level Bluetooth unit. Great sound, getting easier to use. Love the ability to answer calls or use Siri while driving. Makes listening to music on your phone easy and love the quick sync when it starts up.
Pros: Truly is a very good head unit. Worth the money, great value. Easy sync.
Install was very simple, connecting wires was longest part. Radio plays music well, finally got someone to call me, they said sound quality was good, they could tell I was in the car talking over a Radio but thought it sounded as good as any other car radio that they had ever heard, said everything was pretty clear. Owners manual was not helpful at all, if not for son in law and daughters I would only know how to use tuner and play CD's. They work with tis kind of stuff everyday and had issue's with some of the "steps that were skipped" especially with the blue tooth paring. They figured it out, I never would have if they hadn't been around.
Pros: Nice Radio unit.
Cons: Owners manual about worthless(one on CD is a little better)
You can't beat the price of this unit on sale. Alpine was my first aftermarket head unit, and they still succeed in making a great product. Simple, not too complicated, blue tooth works great. I paired it with an alpine power pak and it is awesome. I downloaded the Alpine App to adjust the sound settings.
Pros: Price is right, easy to use. Nice looking unit
Cons: Not any way to customize colors.
I love the bluetooth on the unit works great but my 5th generation classic ipod i have trouble with finally got it to play but i cant skip to the next song i have to listen to the song that is on. But works great with ipod minis.
Pros: I brought a alpine for my jetta loved it so much i went and got the same one for my kia. It sounds great and plays great. Easy to set radio stations and operate your cell phone thru the blue tooth.
Cons: I cant change the ipod songs to the next song i have to listen to each song all the way thru.
Just bought this system for my 97 Stratus because I needed bluetooth in my car, and I have been loving it. Tech support was amazing and installation was very simple with the provided adapters. Navigation is very easy, and even the old stock speakers in my car sound much better, though I will be upgrading those soon too. Value is also great.
Pros: Value Ease of navigation Provided installation supplies Sounds quality
Cons: None yet
Put the unit in a 2002 F150 replacing OEM that was functioning just fine. Easy install, works great and looks good.
Pros: Good product great price
Cons: Changing presets a little challenging given the surface size of the toggles. Haven't been able to display time on screen, maybe not a functionality
love the stereo, easy install with help of Crutchfield car specific kit...more importantly in my opinion is the after sale service...I had some questions and called tech support twice on a sunday afternoon - fast competent support. I think that after sale support made the whole experience one I will happily repeat for any other car stereo needs. GREAT JOB!
I had this unit installed in an old car, replacing the factory system, which died. It has great sound and build quality, and is easy to use. I'm using it with an iphone and BlueTooth Siri voice control. Siri works well, but there is a trick -- you must wait three or four seconds after pressing the 'voice control' button on the unit before you speak your command. If you do that, Siri will understand. If not, she misses the beginning of what you said. Other niggles -- the screen sometimes isn't bright enough during the day (but it's perfect at night). And some of the buttons are small and serve multiple functions. That's probably inevitable given the many different inputs that this thing supports (CD, Aux, BlueTooth, Radio, USB). But the manual is clear and written in decent English. There are many settings, many ways to customize the unit, and many things you can do that aren't immediately obvious -- so spending some time with the manual will pay off. One great thing about Alpine is their customer support. They're US-based, amazingly savvy, and happy to spend the time it takes to solve your problem. A model for what customer support should be. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase, and it has transformed my driving experience.
Pros: Awesome radio for the money.
Cons: Crutchfield uses Styrofoam peanuts for packing....Crutchfield response on 5/19/2014 Actually, the packing peanuts that Crutchfield uses are 100% biodegradable! Drop one in a bowl of water and watch what happens. They dissolve. They're made up primarily of corn starch, and we make them in our warehouse in big batches, as needed. We fill up this giant hopper and as our supply runs low, we crank up the machine and make more. It's a process we invested in years ago to help protect the environment.
I replaced my Kenwood HUNDRED with this Alpine. Great sound quality, and some how my subwoofers sounded better. I can answer phone calls, and easy to use. I highly recommend the to anyone looking for a decent HU. Alpine never fails, always quality products!
Pros: Sounds better and strong, radio signal is better, Bluetooth Mic is just a plus. Really easy to. And the price is cheap but you get more for your buck.
Cons: None really, just wish it came with a remote, which you can buy. I'm buying it its worth it.
Love the bluetooth!
I am so happy with this Alpine CDE-143BT, It has all that i was looking for and very easy to work with. I do not bother with my phone anymore cause it comes through my system. I'm also able to play my music directly off my phone.
Easy install, works great, no problems to date.
Pros: comes w/wiring harness free, bluetooth, USB
Cons: Quirky preset for FM stations
Purchased this head unit to replace the factory unit in my 2008 4Runner. I wanted something with bluetooth streaming to listen to iheart radio off my phone (Samsung S4). I was always a Kenwood Excelon guy, until I saw the Alpine power pack, which I knew I had to try (see seperate review). And of course, I had to purchase from Crutchfield, as I always do. The unit is built well and looks good. I am not into flashy displays or blinking colors, so this unit is perfect for me. The install was easy, and setup was just as easy. Bluetooth paired with my phone without issue, and does every time I turn the unit on. Music sounds great, and bluetooth audio is clear and not muddy. Calls sound good on both ends, but there are quite a few of adjustments that I still want to play with. The only downfall is the hours of "fine-tuning" my sound that I am looking at for the next month or so. Not the receivers fault though. You really can't beat this unit for the money. And there are plenty of tuning options even without the Alpine app on my phone.
Pros: Clean design, easy to use. Love the rotary control knob. Simple yet effective design. Bluetooth sound quality, and ease of connection.
Cons: It doesn't automatically tune itself to how I like the sound.....just kidding, none of them do that. No cons for me on this unit.
Easy install, great sound and hands=free phone works great
The wireless Bluetooth capability is awesome. Being able to use the head unit to select songs on my Iphone and Ipod is a driving safety feature that is invaluable. I can navigating the different options and audio settings with ease using the large tuning knob. The three band equalization gives me all the crystal clear sound I love to hear. I love being able to balance the volume and tonal qualities between the radio, CD, and Ipod. Very easy to install.
Pros: Price point, features, sound quality
I really took time and looked at a lot of radios, I ended up with this Alpine and really enjoy using it.
Pros: If your looking for an inexpensive radio with lots of extras, this is it
works good and sound great even with stock speakers
Head unit has a lot to offer for the money , very easy too use .
Pros: a lot of features for an entry level head unit.
