Alpine continues to put the accent on sound quality with their CDE-153BT CD receiver, which gives you the ability to tune your vehicle's sound system like never before. You start by downloading the Alpine TuneIt App Ver. 2.0 to your iPhone® or Android™ smartphone, then use your phone to take charge of the receiver's sound settings.
You can adjust the 9-band parametric EQ and frequency filters with a simple touchscreen interface, or choose settings that Alpine has created for your specific vehicle. You can also customize the five bass profiles in the receiver's Bass Engine SQ feature, then make big changes in your bass with the touch of a button. Even cooler, you can share your settings with other users through Facebook, and check out settings others have created for your vehicle.
The CDE-153BT offers custom soundshaping with the Alpine TuneIt App.
If you've been disappointed with the quality of streaming audio in the past, you'll appreciate Alpine's exclusive Digital Signal Processing technology, which improves the sound quality of streaming music or stored music files sent from your Bluetooth device to this Alpine. And this receiver's Bluetooth capability also makes it easy to receive and make calls without having to pick up your phone. When your compatible iPhone is linked to the receiver, you can access Siri with Alpine's Eyes Free mode — letting you keep your eyes on the road while you interact with your iPhone.
The CDE-153BT covers the bases with CD playback, MP3 and WMA file compatibility, iPod® and iPhone® controls, plus Pandora® control with iPhone and Android™ phones. For even more options, you can add an optional SiriusXM tuner and tap into an unparalleled variety of music, news, sports, and talk.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Great product for the price. Installation was a breeze and it sounds great.
got immediate improvement right out of the box.
Pros: Tons of gadgets and add ons. Takes a little bit to figure out the constant basics for tuning sounds and songs. But it's great once you get going. Tons of options and features that I will be finding for a long time.
Great product and lots of thanks to maverick, he made it super easy,my Uninstaller and reinstall took about 5 minutes, everything fit just like he said
Pros: The help I got from Crutchfield and maverick saved me a ton of research and tme
Cons: I'm sorry the guys fried my old stereo when changing batteries, hope the repay
Does exactly what I needed. Hands free phone, Siri commands work and BT wireless streaming. Tuner and CD great. Flawless installation. Looks professional.
Pros: Perfect fit. Bluetooth hands free. Siri works through head unit. Crutchfield gave me everything I needed for a professional looking installation.
Bought this model to replace a much older Alpine in my boat. Unit has not been installed yet but all indications look to improve everything about the sound experience on the water. I now have external connectivity the existing unit had no clue would ever exist. Thanks Alpine & Crutchfield for a new higher level of service.
Sound quality is a big improvement over factory unit. Bluetooth connects quickly and works well. Hands free works perfectly with my iPhone 6. I would recommend this product.
Pros: Easy install with installation gear packages.
Cons: None found yet.
This product lives up to its name. Alpine is always been a great product and this deck is no exception even with just the stock speakers it made a difference. I can't wait to see what it does when I finish my system.
Pros: Great product great price
Cons: None so far
I ordered this particular unit because of Alpines reputation, the high customer rating and the price was also marked down considerably. What I wanted most from this unit was improved sound quality over the factory unit. I also had two pair of Infinity Reference REF 8622cfx speakers installed in the front and rear doors at the same time. The combination resulted in drastically improved clarity and volume. No aftermarket amp or subwoofer. Remarkably better listening experience on a budget.
This is my second Alpine head unit and it is everything I wanted and more. The sound with the stock speakers is incredible and the Alpine TuneIt app is awesome. I was able to fine-tune the EQ settings to suit my listening style perfectly. Install was fairly easy. I had never installed a head unit before, but with the detailed instructions I was able to get through it easily. The only trouble I had was that the harness plug is a VERY tight fit to the vehicle harness and I was afraid to force it, but a call to Crutchfield customer service allayed my fears. I'm delighted with the bluetooth connection and the USB port. I can carry my entire music library on a thumb drive and listen to all of it in the car. Haven't used the Pandora connection yet - I'm still learning all of the other features :-) This is a great unit and I couldn't be happier.
Paired with 4 JBL speakers, Replacement for 2005 F150 factory head. All components were drop-in The kit from Crutchfield came complete with everything needed for the install. Nice system.
Pros: Gotta love Crutchfield.
I am blown away by the sound quality , power and ease of installation and set up. I first purchased a different brand from a big chain electronic store but returned it, it sounded awful . I purchased this alpine unit from Crutchfield based on reviews. I highly recommend this unit and Crutchfield
Pros: Easy to follow wiring Diagram and setup instructions, easy-to-use, and fair price.
I replaced the factory receiver / CD player with the Alpine CDE-153BT in my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. This was the first time I've done something like this and was hesitant at first. However, the instructions to remove the factory receiver were very helpful and that task was straight forward. The installation was more involved but not difficult. The fit of the Alpine receiver in the replacement dash insert was looser than I expected, perhaps I did that incorrectly. However I fiddled with it a bit and it worked out fine. I did opt for the adapter that permits the steering wheel controls to function and I am glad I did. The Alpine receiver has significantly improved sound quality of the otherwise stock sound system. The Bluetooth link to my iPhone works nicely and I have played mp3 files from a CD successfully as well. There are a number of features that I have not experimented with yet, but I'll get around to it. In summary - installation difficulty was about a 3 on a 1-10 scale, good improvement in sound quality, ease of use and functionality I'd give a 8 out of 10. I am very pleased with the value of this receiver.
Pros: Good improvement in sound quality Ease of use
Cons: Fit of the receiver in the dash insert was loose - a couple well placed zip ties fixed the problem
Simple install, works exactly as discribed .
I installed my stereo Saturday with an amp and sub. Sounds great. By Sunday I had my phone connected and all my controls figured out. Nice simple stereo. Love my Alpine.
Pros: Very easy to use. Installation Cd helped get things started. Sounds great hands-free is clear on both ends.
Cons: No cons
Very nice piece! More impressed than my expectations it's everything I was looking for.
Pros: Like everything about it. Hands free and Bluetooth are perfect!
Just finished install and very happy. Sounds great and haven't even finished setup yet.
Pros: Ease of installation and price value
I have had several Alpine units. The sound quality never disappoints. This unit is no exception.
Pros: Great sound.
Cons: Had hoped the wiring harness from my twelve year old Alpine would plug right in but the pin spacing had changed luckily Crutchfield provided a new adapter.
the alpine CDE-153BT does it all. and Crutchfield beat everybody else's prices by 30 to 50 dollars. Delivery took a day and a half. If you have a discriminating ear go with alpine. If you like to save money go with Crutchfield.
I absolutely love this radio. It's everything that I wanted and more.
Pros: You will not be disappointed.
Very nice stereo with many options.
Great set of features, easy install and setup.
Just installed in my 02 S10 ZR2. Fit like a glove. Still figuring out all the bells and whistles, but from the first note the improvement in sound quality is amazing. Installation was a breeze. Took literally longer to get the dash bezel off than to install. Happy as a pig in shizit! Thanks.
Cons: Only con was the universal mount. The cubby hole was so small. Instead I used one I purchased from Wally world. Sorry. I needs the space for storage..
Always have loved alpine decks this one did not disappoint, the the new eq is amazing takes a little time to set buck is awsome
Pros: The radio is awsome
It's a great product! I love it will get some time to get used to it
Pros: The features How easy it is to operate once you get a hang of it
Just what I expect from an Alpine product
Pros: Lots of features
Cons: Learning curve of all the features...
I had an Alpine stereo in my car @ 20 years ago and it was awesome . This new head unit has many features like the Alpine TuneIt App Ver. 2.0 , Bluetooth and a handful of other features I will enjoy this for many years in my car.
Pros: awesome features
Unit does what it needs to without unnecessary bells and whistles. What a relief!
Great product, lots of features, easy to set up and use. Hands free mike works great even in a Jeep
Pros: features, microphone for hands free
easy install, great sound. only issue is alpine app. but I really like it
A good solid player, sounds quite good and relative easy to use. It could use a remote.
Pros: Looks good, well built, relatively easy to use.
Cons: A remote would be good.
I love my new Alpine. I go way back with Alpine--all the way to the late 80s and competing with my 7903, pull out CD player--good times! So Alpine was an easy choice for me and the CDE-153BT had all the features I wanted and non I didn't Besides all the features I wanted like BT, front USB, the phone access and all that, the 9-band parametric EQ with the phone App was the final element that made this the best choice for me. This head unit looks great sounds great works great and fits great in my 2005 GMC Yukon. (Crutchfield said I might have to cut a brace in the dash, but I didn't.). The unit was integrated flawlessly and easily to the amplified BOSE system with the PAC adapter--even my steering wheel controls still work! Bottom line--try it, you'll like it!
Pros: Sounds great! Looks great! 9-band parametric EQ! All the features I wanted and none I didn't at an incredible price!
Cons: None really. I do find it slightly difficult to find certain features "hidden" in sub-menus, but once you find them it's no problem. Granted, all head units have a limited number of buttons and seem to suffer from this on some level, I think.
This is a top quality head unit. I love the sound and ease of tuneing. I would not buy anything else .
Pros: Top quailty sound and ease of use. Puts out great sound to the factory speakers.
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Great value receiver; installed in a snap, and the only issue I've had is some odd dropout issues with the sound, but it's either a defective radio or the steering wheel control amp unit that came with it. I've sent this unit back (and upgraded to the CDE-HD148BT), and we'll see if that helps, but this is overall a good stereo and you shouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger if you're considering it.
Great value, sounds wonderful, lots of options, some I probably won't use, lots of options to save channels, works great with SiriusXM tuner.
For a relatively inexpensive car stereo I'm please. It didn't have any installation instructions but 5 min on google and I was good to go. It took longer to trim and splice the wires than to remove th stock radio and install this one. Pairing the Bluetooth to a couple tries but now it's flawless.
Pros: Easy installation.
Cons: Users manual is on CD, but the pdf is readily accessible online. Bluetooth pairing was a little funky but after using it twice its a piece of cake.
This is last years model, but its the best out there! Highly recommend Alpine
Cons: nothing - maybe throw in the remote for free, they really don't cost that much to make
I absolutely love this head unit. I've bought it on 4 separate occasions for 4 different vehicles!
Cons: NONE at all
Wanted an upgrade for OEM to add bluetooth to a late model system so I would not get a ticket for cell phone use. With OEM pre amp, this headunit kicks.
Pros: Tons of options vs. Late model OEM, great sound quality
Cons: Hate the small volume control knob, to many steps to manually tune
Feature packed, Low price, and Oh Yeah, that "Alpine Sound"
Pros: Price, Features, Sound
After the ease of installing the unit with the supplied directions from Crutchfield; the function I really enjoyed was when you selected bluetooth; the radio started to play my favorite channel on Sirius from my Iphone without me touching the Iphone. Once paired up, it allows you to spend less time with your eyes and attention off the roadway making it safer driving for everyone involved!! Nice safety factor.
Pros: Awesome colors to select on the unit displays! Single DIN unit that looks sharp and has a knob to adjust volume, etc. A nice button to answer the phone through the bluetooth; instead of standing up while driving to receive a call!
Cons: I have none so far! Many, many features on this unit and saved $40 dollars. Free shipping, free radio tools and dedicated plug for my 1988 Porsche 944. Wonderful value for money; that should last for many years!
This was an excellent upgrade to my factory head unit on my 2000 Toyota 4Runner. I can hear sounds I've never heard before with my amp and upgraded speakers which I installed 15 years ago.
Pros: Sounds great and has plenty of modern features such as bluetooth and USB
Cons: Buttons are small compared to my factory head unit.
Alpine has built a quality component with logic in its layout and control functions. Very easy to set up and to enjoy
Great upgrade of my stock stereo. Super clean sound. I love the 9 band to fine tune.
Pros: Clear sound
I have only used Alpine decks. Have never had a reason not to, and this deck isn't any different. I needed to upgrade from my latest discontinued model (touch bar). Wanted Bluetooth capability, USB, and auxiliary inputs. This deck has them all. There's only one minor detailing miss from my other deck. The ability to change the face color. With my other deck I had it white and amber, to match the rest of my dash lights. With this new one it's just a bright blue. Thus is only dislike I have but it is more personal preference. All in all very happy with my purchase.
Pros: No Brainer install, great sound, easy to use interface (so far)
Excellent product and is very easy to use, plus it comes with all the features i wanted! All in all great product at a great price!
Pros: The Features
Cons: Rather Spotify over Pandora for streaming
Recieved radio yesterday from UPS and installed it in my truck today in about an hour. Everything i needed was included so installation was a breeze! Synced my iphone to it really easy and made a call. Sounded clear on other side. Hooked up ipod with USB and worked like a charm. I dont care for pandora but i use spotify and as soon as i turn on my truck it connects and starts playing without having to even touch my phone or radio! Still have to tinker with more of the setting to learn it all. So far im very pleased with my purchase! Now just need to upgrade all my speakers to get the best out of it.
Pros: Bluetooth works great, crystal clear handsfree, easy to install, alpine tuneit app
Cons: No remote included, wish clock was always displayed no matter what source you're on, but no big deal, owners manual on disc not hard copy. Dont have a computer at home to view it
Our grandson loves this replacement radio in his car!
The harness Crutchfield provides for free was a breeze, making it plug and play after connecting a few wires. The Alpine 153BT, as others mention, is somewhat difficult to tune, but that is not surprising when you are trying to work a 9-band EQ that includes width adjustments with just a couple of buttons. Fortunately, Alpine has this covered with their free "TuneIt" app, which really makes adjusting the EQ easy and user friendly. Build quality is excellent, as usual with Alpine, and it is loaded with features for the price. My only complaint is the noticeable lack of bottom end - even less bass than the factory head unit it replaced. However, I suspect this is due to the stock Infinity amp, using speaker level inputs, and that once I bypass that amp I am betting the bass will come to life. Great value, great build, and the tuning app is awesome. would buy again.
Pros: build, design, tuning app
Cons: weak low end -- but that might be due to remaining factory amp.
I have always like Alpine gear, and this one is no exception. Great sound and has everything I need.
This is a good radio, does what it says it will. Bluetooth connection robust. Good at answering incoming calls.
Pros: Strong Bluetooth, good FM reception, accurate clock.
Cons: Too complicated to adjust settings. Volume/Selection knob could use detents. Confusing function button layout.
Like all the Alpine units I've owned this one sounds great, was easy to install and is easy to use.
Pros: Easy to install, sound great, great features.
I replaced the stereo in my accord with this alpine. It is very easy to control and I bought this stereo because of the ease of operation and all you have to do is push one button to get to the sub control. I listen to a lot of different music and bass is always needing adjustment. The stereo i took out of my car was horrible trying to get to sub control. Also, the bass output is great! Have the same amp and sub in my car and i get 10 times the bass output to the sub. It really amazed me. I was thinking I needed another amp. The blue tooth is great also, does away with cords in the way.
Pros: One touch sub control and ease of operation. Reasonably priced.
Cons: none I have found
Great receiver! Does everything and more. Would've liked an option to change the display/button color but not a problem.
Pros: Good sound, build quality and versatility. The Tune-It app is a real plus for audiophiles.
Cons: Operating the receiver's advanced source options can be tricky if you haven't read the owner's manual. No option to change display/button color.
I installed this system last weekend. It was really simple to wire up and install. The sound is amazing, even with the stock speakers in our Suburban. The features in this system are great. The Bluetooth connects with ease. The USB connection charges various accessories while playing music. Haven't had to use the aux plug=in yet with the Bluetooth, but I did test it... it's fine! Next step is trying to connect to Pandora, haven't done that yet either. The Alpine Tuneit App is fantastic!! And to top it off, the price from Crutchfied was unbelievable!! We're so pleased with this Alpine I'll probably install one in my Silverado...
Pros: Everything to do with Crutchfield and the Alpine CDE-153BT are OUTSTANDING!!
Cons: None what so ever!
I love my new Alpine receiver. I have had it installed by another retailer and Crutchfield sent me everything I needed to have it installed. I also had to call Crutchfield to have some questions answered and spoke with a gal, "Daisy". She was great and knowledgeable and made me feel confident in my choices.
Pros: Works just the way I need it to for what I need in a receiver. I needed hands free phone and it works great.
Cons: The only thing I can say is that the digital display can be hard to read in bright light because it is blue in color, but I didn't want any other color display. So, that is tolerable.
This stereo replaced my dying 18 year old alpine stereo in my 98' BMW 323i, and it blows it away. The Bluetooth is very easy to use (so no cords are needed to get the stereo to play audio from your phone); the channel search is great, and the bass is definitely awesome. I'm sure this is partially because my BMW has a Harmon Kardon sound system, but when I play music, it sort of sounds like I'm at a concert. It's pretty great. I would not hesitate to get this stereo.
Pros: Great clarity of sound, bass, ease of use and installation, number of features, and CD player
Features are practically endless. It's offers everything that I need and then some. This unit replaces a 10 year old Alpine which finally wore out. I can only hope (and assume) that I will be as pleased with this one.
Pros: Extremely good value.
Cons: Owner manual not what I consider crystal clear.
Super easy installation. Very ease to set up and use. Sound quality and power greatly improved over OEM equipment. As usual the Crutchfield team was very helpul in advice and selection. Fast shipping with all necessary hardware.
Pros: Better sound quality and power over factory setup. Easy to setup and use.
Very good unit easy to install with crutch field directions
Pros: Good directions nice display easy to use great Bluetooth user friendly
Very pleased with this HU. Although it may not matter to some people, the single most important thing that I like about this stereo is that when you hit "pause", it STAYS paused. Even if I turn the vehicle "off", and back on, the unit is still paused. It is very annoying with other units that will resume when the vehicle is turned off then back on. Even if I answer a call when the unit is paused, it stays that way even after the call. Also, this unit reads usb drives very fast and seek times until the next song is instant.
Pros: STAYS paused, very fast seek times.
I have had this receiver for well over a year and it is still perfect! great sound quality and the Bluetooth streaming has the best quality of any receiver I've heard!
Very nice system for the money. A little difficult to set up, somewhat complicated. Once you get the hang of it, no problem.
I replaced the OEM stereo in my 2001 Tahoe and the difference is remarkable. The head unit was easy to install- total 30 minutes, and the sound quality is out of this world!
Pros: easily installed
Cons: wish ALPINE made a DIN 1.5 to fill all of available space
Great unit with a ton of control in the equalizer. Great IPod/ iPhone controls. Would be nice to have a color changing display and an auto sound quality feature, but the app interface is a neat feature.
Pros: Great quality, great control
Cons: No color changing display
This radio replaced an 8 year old Alpine unit that started intermittently started being silent, I wanted a similar setup and chose this because of the existing alpine wiring, plugged right in and fired right up, the only issue I had was connecting to bluetooth, phone wouldn't pick up the radio right away, but I can't blame the radio for that. Set up the audio the way I liked it and the 9 year old factory speakers came alive, it's like driving a new car again, fantastic radio
Pros: Great sound, Pandora is easy to use, inexpensive, plugs into previous alpine connections
Cons: People have said the microphone sounds like I'm in a WW2 bomber....sometimes
Overall it is an excellent unit for the price. I found out that the poor sound from my factory system wasn't from the factory speakers, but was from the stereo unit.
Pros: Sounds great with the 9 band EQ and sound separation. Microphone picks up well for the hands free phone. Display is plenty bright, even in daylight sun. Fairly easy installation.
Cons: Menus are kind of clunky to use but easy to figure out. Would like to see song info or station name info, but it is not a $400.00 Alpine unit.
Awesome deck always loved alpine and still do after purchasing this if you are looking for a Christmas tree deck get a pioneer but if sound is important to you buy this or any alpine for that matter
Love the the set up
Pros: It's a good quality stereo for a great price
Alpine CDE-153BT radio was easy to install. The sound quality is excellent with balanced sound. The blue tooth functions are easy to use the sound quality from the microphone to the caller is clear It is mounted on the dash near the radio I can also hear the person calling clearing. The function buttons once you learn how to use them are easy to use. I would recommend this radio to a friend .All functions work very well CD player, plug in for Ipod and the radio.
Pros: Installation instructions clear with outline of what tools needed. Buttons easy to use once the manual was read and practice on how to use them completed
Updating from a 10yr old Alpine 9847,Purchased for the BT & Tune it app. Installed in a Muscle car (1970 Camaro).
Pros: Great performance for the price.
This is a decent HU. It has a 9 channel EQ, but you have to access it from your smart phone. My iPhone 4 won't pair with it so far, so everything has to be accessed with a cord. The instructions provided by Alpine aren't very clear. The Alpine HU I replaced with this one was also a little complicated but this one is more so. This may be a top of the line HU, just be prepared to spend a couple hours playing with it to figure things out.
It's been 25 years since I installed an Alpine unit. I was pleased to see that the quality has remained!
Pros: Great sound, easy set-up & use.
Cons: Input for steering wheel controls does not allow for the phone button, you're forced to use the button on the face of the unit.
Purchased for Bluetooth capability. Works great!
ALPINE never ceases to amaze, this head unit is amazing for the size and quality of sound that comes out of it.
Pros: The most bang for your buck, super high-quality sound even without an amp. Priced right and durable.
Cons: Hardly any a little tricky to get programs but that's it.
Every feature you could possible want. All kinds of options
Pros: A lot of input capabilities
Bought this head unit for my sons birthday, his only response was Awesome!! This was his first install in his 96 Silverado, Crutchfield makes it so easy that he did a great job with no problem. Stereo sounds great, bluetooth connects easily, awesome stereo at a great price.
Great Sound. Unit is slightly complicated but that is because has lots of options. Quick read of the manual and few minutes dialing things in and you are set. Installation was easy had to phone a friend (Crutchfield) one or twice but no big deal. In all installation was easier then I thought and I'm enjoying the system.
I just installed this radio in my 2005 Highlander with the JBL system without the navigation. So far it is a great unit. A few things, I'd like to explain as it might help others who want to put this unit into their Highlander. 1. The Alpine cables and the car harness adapter have blue cables that are labeled Power Antenna. I don't have a power antenna, but you need to connect these two blue cable as they do effect reception. 2. The steering wheel adapter from PAC requires tapping into three wires on the car harness that has 20 pins, but only 3 cables connected. I used a new razor blade to shave off the insulation on the car harness cables, then wrap the cables from the PAC onto the shaved part and solder. A piece of black electrical tape folded over the T joint and stuck together worked great. 3. The programming of the steering wheel module is not altogether easy. The steps in programming don't tell you that if you stop for 6 seconds between any of the programming steps, you need to start over. 4. It took me about 4 hours to do the entire job, but the longest and hardest part was fitting the radio into the plastic holder. This is a very tight fit to get the radio sleeve into the plastic holder. I had to use a file to file away some of the plastic to get the sleeve into the holder. Crutchfield support was/is five star.
Pros: Quality radio
The manual needs a font size bigger. Had to get on the internet to figure out how to pair my phone. Looks fantastic and so many things I can do if I could read the instruction book without granny glasses. Sounds ok think I need to reconfig my speakers and add a sub. Wish the app could also control volume.
Pros: seems to be the quality one would expect from Alpine. The smartphone app is pretty cool.
Cons: Need sharp eyes to read booklet
I installed this deck along with 4 replacement Alpine SPS-610 in a 98 dodge Dakota pickup. The difference was phenomenal. It has brought the truck into the 21 century with bluetooth and USB. The Tuneit App is easy to use (Samsung S4) and I recommend it as well. The installation was done in a day and the crutchfield directions where flawless. I am very happy and wish that I had done this sooner.
Pros: Great sound Easy to use Easy installation
Deck is solid and bluetooth works well. Bought mostly for Bluetooth capability.
One of the other reviewers wrote "Not User Friendly". This is an understatement of magnitude. There are nearly 60 pages of instruction with small print. Almost every instruction has a list of "notes" that give cautions, exceptions and complications. The buttons on the face are tiny, hard to get to and the layout is just ridiculous. The radio goes into "Demo mode" if you do not hit a certain button with 30 sec of starting your car. Can you turn this off? Not yet. I tried finding it in the 60 pages. BTW you do not get a manual. You get a link to one on your computer. So try sorting through this morass of complexity with you car on the drive way and the manual on your comp. Yes u can print 60 pages if you want. There are many reviewer here who like it and just do not understand that.
Pros: None really. I would return it only I do not want to go through taking it out and putting something else in it's place.
Cons: Very difficult to install (seemed like I had half my car in bits on the drive way) Very difficult to understand the manual Buttons hard to find due to small size and lay out Sound okay only I cannot find how to turn off the phone link without the music. It is just a design disaster.
A little hard to figure out but once you get the initial setup done its great! The Pandora links with my phone in seconds and the mic works surprisingly well even in a jeep at speed with the top down. At night the display looks great and isn't too bright.
Pros: Great sound/looks easy to use once set up.great crutchfield support.
Cons: A bit difficult to set up initaly
Put this in my wife's 2002 BMW. Sounds better than the OEM stereo.
Pros: Easy to install, fits nice, sounds nice, easy to use.
This car stereo gives you a lot for your money. Clear, crisp sound with a little bit of punch when using the bass boost. Very easy to install and use. Great value.
Pros: Lots of features. Decent power. Easy to use.
Have been an Alpine enthusiast for many years. This is a great product. Would highly recommend it!
Pros: Bluetooth is awesome. Very easy to use. Installation was also a breeze!
I have read reviews of alpine gear when shopping for new gear before but have always settled for less expensive brands. I did spend a little more this time than normal but it is well worth it. Sound quality is far superior to other brands I have owned. I dinged on ease of use, but that is more of a ding on me than on the equipment, as I have not used all the functions yet. What I have used has been easy to navigate. "Coolness factor" what can I say there just isn't much coolness to any head unit. Now for Crutchfield's review their service once again is impeccable. The dash kit that shipped with the unit was busted, I called customer service and received the replacement the next evening. It is so refreshing to deal with a customer oriented business this day and age. Thank you Crutchfield you continue to earn my business.
Pros: Sound quality Ease of installation Bluetooth compatability
Excellent Stereo. So happy with it I own two of them. Have one in my boat and one in my truck.
Pros: Bluetooth, Ease of use.
After having my Alpine CDE-133BT stolen from my vehicle, I looked again for a replacement unit. The factory radio was D-DIN radio and the kit, wiring harness, and instructions that came with 133-BT from Crutchfield made installation almost effortless. To that end, I selected the Alpine CDE-153BT over the Alpine CDE-143BT ( which I purchased for our 2014 VW Golf last year) or the Alpine UTE-52BT. The UTE-52BT is a complete digital unit and as much as would like to ditch the CD player, it is useful for the .mp3 CD audiobooks that we use for our Grandson when travelling. The 153BT has some expandability options that might be useful down the road like. Sirius Radio, and pre-amp upgrades. The unit works well with my iPod and my phone for bluetooth audio. Sound quality is very good even without and additional amp. The only negatives so far are that I do not care for the "ring" on incoming calls. It is very annoying and there is no option to change it ( that I have found so far), and some of the setup features are overly complicated.(meaning there are too many options to choose from). Have not yet yet gotten to the point where I have found the perfect set up. As mentioned by a few users set up after installation is an exercise in patience. I read the users manual to familiarize myself with all of the available settings. I set the big stuff, but continue to make minor adjustments on a weekly basis. I would recommend that you keep a paper copy of the manual in the glove box.
Pros: Great Value, Sound and Features. Pandora and Sirius capability. Crutchfield Installation kit and support. Overall a great head unit for the moiney
Cons: Incoming ringtone for bluetooth calls is obnoxious. Not the most user friendly. You will need to read the manual on this one.
Very nice head unit. BT capability works nicely but requires a connection via USB to use Pandora. This would be great if it streamed Pandora via BT.
Pros: Nice layout on buttons and knobs. Build quality seems nice.
Cons: Only real issue I had was the retaining clip on the harness connector broke. No big deal because I plugged it into a Alpine Power Pack adapter and used some electrical tape to secure.
The deck looks nice. Has a lot of features but definitely not user friendly. I purchased solely for the Sirrus capability. Which it has but not easy to navigate. Perhaps with the remote it might make this easier. I might purchase it and see if it work *better*.
Pros: Sirrus, Bluetooth, iPod, Aux
Cons: Hard to navigate. Not user friendly.
This was the best value for my money. The deck is great! Sounds amazing. I will definitely purchase from crutchfield again.
Pros: Good deal & quality
Cons: Have to wait for shipment
This is a head unit that delivers on what it says that it does. Everything you could possibly need is included for almost any modern device.
Pros: Bluetooth, style, EQ customization
Cons: Not the most user friendly. Definitely need to read the manual on this one.
I have been using other head unit brands but I decided to go back and try an Alpine. Glad I did. They sound great......
Pros: Sound and equalizer
Nice unit for the money great sound
Pros: Install, look , coolness factor in my ''66 Impala
Love this deck Hands free calling blutooth works perfect with my iPhone 5 google maps provide turn by turn navigation I only buy Alpine head units too.
Pros: All pros
Cons: No sd slot but USB I charge my phone with that though
I think this is a good head-unit. What I don't like is the built-in EQ does not provide mid-level adjustment; only bass and treble. Once I figured out all of the different ways to tune the head-unit, it sounds very good powering a pair of Pioneer 5-1/4" 3-way speakers in the front doors.
Pros: Once tuned, very good sound quality
Cons: Not that easy to tune, use No mid-level EQ adjustment
This is a very user friendly product. The sound quality is amazing even when using the Bluetooth capabilities.
Pros: Easy installation User friendly
Like the bluetooth, can't go wrong with Alpine. Reasonably priced.
Pros: Has all the options for connectivity.
Cons: Owners manual is on a disc. Print your own or sit in vehicle with a laptop while learning how everything works.
Outstanding unit for the budget minded
Pros: Great sound Quality even with factory speakers. Allows me hands free use of my phone and utilizes an app "Tunit" to fine tune the sound to my taste and location in my vehicle.
Cons: Need to order an adapter for my Steering wheel controls.
The support and knowledge of the people at Crutchfield is above what is given anywhere i shop. Truly above character and the norm. Thank you.
Pros: Dollar for dollar this stereo is more than i expected.
Pros: Sound, installation & operation.
First there really isn't anything that falls in the Ugly category but the title just seemed incomplete without it. I recently purchased the Alpine CD receiver along with the Alpine inline amplifier and Polk Audio speakers to replace the aging sound system in my 2002 Dodge Dakota R/T Club Cab. The search criteria were external preamp outputs for expadability, subwoofer outputs, bluetooth capability, aux input, CD (CDA/MP3) and USB input. Most other option from there were based on narrowing down the search and picking based on price....I call it reading the menu right to left. Here is how much I have to spend then read left to see what that amount of money buys. I have listed primary PROS and CONS. Number one PRO is Crutchfield service and the fact that they ship all the adapters and harnesses required to make the swap. Even when the price is slightly cheaper in other places I have used Crutchfield for that fact alone. Number One CON: Andriod works only with Bluetooth .
Pros: Sound Quality seems better than average although it is hard to base that solely on the receiver. External amps and speakers play a far greater role in that department and setup is relatively easy for the main menus. Bluetooth works with my Android Galaxy and the USB works with a Sony Walkman MP3 player. The single biggest PRO is Crutchfield who shipped it with the correct wiring harness adapter and dashboard bracket to make the swap seamless.
Cons: CD did not work when the unit was installed. This is being corrected by Crutchfield shipping a new one so I can not comment on the CD player functionality as of yet. Advanced menu options can be difficult is not almost impossible to navigate through and the buttons are small for someone 6 foot 4 with large hands. Bluetooth Audio ONLY for Andriod and the sound quality is far less than USB. A little disappointing. Also the Alpine requires routing an external mic (supplied) for calling
Pros: Easy to use
This unit was very easy to install in my wifes car.
Pros: Great bluetooth
Great receiver coupled with the new Amp and speakers
Pros: customized sound features
Cons: the ease of use takes a little getting experience, but it's improving
Very nice unit
Works flawlessly! This is my 3rd Alpine and all have worked great. This unit is especially great because you can stream music from your Android and Iphone thru bluetooth. Works with Iheart and Slacker Radio.
Pros: Easy install and freature work the way they are suppose to.
Cons: None that I can think of..
I purchased the Alpine CDE-153BT to install in my 1969 Chevrolet Caprice. I also purchased the Alpine KTP-445A Head Unit Power Pack 45W x 4 Car Amp, and the under dash installation kit, so I would not have to remove my original AM radio. I wanted a head unit with bluetooth phone and audio capabilities and that would play both CD's and USB sticks. This unit performs all of these tasks exceedingly well, as well as playing Pandora from my smartphone. Installation was took a little longer than normally is required with a Crutchfield purchased system. This is because my car is too old to have an wiring adapter kit made for it. I had to install it the "old fashioned way" by putting disconnects on the ends of the wiring and plugging them into the open posts on my fuse panel. I used to do professional two-way radio installs for a living, so I was able to do a pretty professional looking install. I split loomed all of the wiring, to include the speaker wires running under the carpet. Setting up the H/U after installation is an exercise in patience! I stepped through the WHOLE users manual to familiarize myself with ALL of the available settings. I set those settings I felt I only needed to set once. The users manual is in the glove box if needed in the future. The sound this H/U produces when tied in with the Alpine KTP-445A Head Unit Power Pack 45W x 4 Car Amp is incredible. I wish I could have installed this unit without the amp first it un-amplified.
Pros: Once you get past the learning curve of how to fine tune this H/U, it is easy to operate. I have it installed under my dash, so I have to look around the steering wheel to get a clear view of it. Excellent sound, easy setup, great reception on local and distant FM stations. Straight forward playback controls for CD and USB. Pandora works well. Need to play with Pandora more to become fully familiar. Purchased remote control is a great accessory. Amp wiring made install much easier.
Cons: As noted by others, dimming feature, when tied into illumination circuit is almost unnoticed when headlights are turned on. Scrolling through "Source" is one direction only. BassEngine activation seems to mute the playback significantly. (Maybe I haven't learned how to use it yet.) Price is a little high for a H/U with only one background color.
A lot of really powerful features, does even more than I expected. Sound quality is top shelf. The hard part is figuring out how to use it while driving. Have not memorized the non-intuitive command set yet, shouldn't be this complex just to hear music or see the time. Still have not figured out how to get out of the demo mode, but I am sure I will get the hang of it. This is my 2nd new Alpine unit in a couple of months, really like their quality of craftsmanship and sound and absolute ease of installation. Now, to dig through the 106 page PDF to find out how to use it........
Pros: Best value, simple to install with their kits (Porsche and Roadster installations), excellent sound without even using the sub woofer or aux amp features. Blue tooth simple and hitch-free.
Cons: Need a much younger mind to get the hang of using the features
I love my new Alpine its improved the sound quality tenfold I couldn't be happier with this product. It was easy to install I did it myself, I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
I wasn't sure what head unit to buy for my '08 Wrangler Unlimited. I had the upgraded Infinity sound system, but it didn't sound very good. I asked two friends who had done installs before and they told me to get an Alpine head unit. I asked a guy who does sound system installation and he said to get an Alpine. I read the reviews on Crutchfield, they seemed to say, get an Alpine. Well, I'm a bit of an audiophile, though not a card carrying one so I was not convinced. I thought I might have to get new speakers to get the sound I wanted, and I spent some more time doing research. Guess what the research told me. So I got an Alpine and it sounds great, even with the factory Infinity speakers. I do wish that the aftermarket guys would spend some coin on making the interface between an iPod and the head unit more user friendly. I realize that this is better on the touch screen models, but drastic improvements could be made to make this function more user friendly. For example, when I want to select a particular artist from my iPod (an iPod Classic with over 20 GB of stored music), I have to scroll through the entire alphabet of artists that precede them one at a time using the tuner knob. Or I can disconnect the iPod, scroll to the artist using the iPod's speed scroll select function (way faster) and reconnect it while playing. Why no speed scroll function on the head unit?
Pros: Sound quality is epic. If you like sound, and who doesn't, probably want to get an Alpine. Easy to see in daylight or dark.
Cons: Small buttons. Controls take some time to familiarize.
While I don't have extensive experience with all of the features, I felt like 3 weeks was enough to convince me that I don't like it. I'll start with the good stuff: The sound quality is great. The built-in amp is great. It doesn't look cheap, and the light colors look professional rather than like a Christmas tree (I'm looking at you, Pioneer). The screen was plenty bright for daytime. EQ Presets were surprisingly pretty decent. Has physical buttons (FM presets). Bluetooth microphone quality is loud and clear (according to the people I called). Unfortunately, I disliked more than I liked. Adjusting EQ is very tedious. No separate front and rear high pass filters (although this seems like the new norm for HUs until you get over $200). Cannot display "Artist - Title" on screen; only "Artist", "Title", "Album", or "Clock". That makes no sense to me. Bluetooth takes around 8 seconds to start playing when car is turned on. Build quality: My first one had a back button that would hardly click and felt like it would stop working within the first two months of use. That one was an open-box, so I decided to return it for a brand new item. The new one had a great back button, but the "Band" button felt like a loose tooth. Every other button was solid, but that button was very easy to jiggle. I was happy with sound quality and power, and I would have tolerated the other minor interface annoyances, but the two units with less-than-solid buttons caused me to give up on this HU.
Pros: - Great sound quality - Usable EQ presets - No flashy lights or graphics - I could always see the screen - Good bluetooth mic - I like the radio preset buttons that also function as repeat/pause/shuffle/etc. That's the one thing I'll miss
Cons: - Adjusting EQ takes too many clicks and scrolls - HPF applies to all speakers (except sub). Nice if that's what you want, but useless if you're satisfied with your stock system and want your rear deck to be your low end. - Display can't show artist & song title at the same time - Bluetooth takes KIND of long to connect - First unit had a back button that would barely click, and the replacement had a "band" button that felt like it would eventually fall off. Neither unit had ALL solid button
Great unit so far!!
Pros: Another great alpine unit. Love the Bluetooth feature!!
Cons: A bit tricky to get used to when you used to older alpine headunits. Control setup is a bit funky. Nothing to hold back for though!!
This deck makes excellent quality output from all sources. I am running it with four Focal ic165's at 80w ea and a JL 10 at about 300w. The high-voltage preouts are good to go and so is the full range of customization available to every input source. Bluetooth pairing is easy and Tune It works like a dream. If you really care about what your music sounds like, build your system around an Alpine head unit.
Pros: Totally customizable per each input source.
Cons: Way complicated for a beginner, but don't let it scare you.
This receiver was everything I was looking for. I had already had an Alpine receiver in my car, but I wanted a new one--one that could connect via Bluetooth, instead of the old iPod cords that no longer fit. This receiver does exactly that, and does it well. Once I got my iPad and Nexus paired with the receiver, they both worked perfectly with it. Whenever I start my car it starts playing audio exactly where I left off. The sound quality is good too, although I'm not a snob and I'm using stock stereos in my 2003 Corolla. Installation was a breeze as well, although a large part of that was the fact that I was replacing an existing Alpine receiver which used the same harness. The only slightly annoying thing is that it's hard to navigate through music sometimes through the receiver, especially if you're listening to a custom app (like my podcast app, for example) so you're best off setting up a large amount of music/podcasts to play continuously before you start driving. I also sometimes have to unpair and repair my Android phone to make it work, but that's a minor inconvenience. 99.99% of the time it just works, exactly how I want it to. The only thing I wish it did was allow 2 devices to both pair and mix their sound together--I could use my phones navigation app while I listened to music from my tablet. But for the price and my needs, I couldn't ask for more
Pros: Good price Good quality Easy to use and reliable Simple installation Lots of features
Cons: Can't control custom apps through control panel (which is an irrational request...) Android bluetooth is sometimes finicky to repair Can't (as far as I know) have two devices play sound over bluetooth simultaneously
Nice Alpine stereo.
Cons: No remote control.
It looks and sounds great!
Excellent head unit. Clear and crisp sound.
Pros: Good tuning abilities. Multiple outputs.
Cons: Some buttons perform to many functions. Easy to make a mistake.
This radio is very easy to use. All the features are very straight forward. Sound quality is great. Even better mated to 2 Alpine amps and Polk speakers. Great control of bass through head unit and amp through dual JL 10" subs
Pros: Ease of use and sound
After reviewing so many receivers online and in the local sound stores I decided to buy the Alpine CDE-153BT. Although I was actually interested in the 147BT I came across this unit and what cought my attention was the sirus xm capabilities and ofcourse the BT music streaming. Alpine made a huge difference in all of my speakers. The sound quality is phenomenal, my music came to life full pf detsil and clarity. The shipping was on time and I am very thankful that crutchfield has fabulous tech support ready to help. My only issue was connecting my android to the receiver via bluetooth. At first I would only pair my device directly to the receiver manually, through the tech support staff I found out this was a wrong procedure. You first enable bluetooth on your phone, scan for the reciever and in a few seconds "cde-153series" should appear on your bluetooth menu. Once you click on it to pair immediately on your receiver on the top left corner press and hold for two seconds the "audio" button, scroll with the volume wheel to the right until you reach the blutooth app press enter and select paired devices, select desired device and push connect. This will automatically connect your phone to the receiver, and unless you walk away from your vehicle the phone should always remain connected. Repeat this procedure to reconnect and enjoy your music. Over all I am satisfied and will continue to shop at crutchfield. Thank you crutchfield and staff.
Cons: Satisfied over all.
Fast shipping product as described.
Pros: Easy install
Great sound, nice interface - CD, USB, stream, Sirius
I upgraded my stock speakers to JBL. Needed to upgrade the Receiver, from a previous receiver that was fine, that was already an upgrade, not stock. So, I have a bit of comparison for Pandora usage, sound quality, and graphics display on receivers. Alpine sound quality is extreme. Makes the JBL better and really enjoy the immense options to EQ, especially with the TuneIT app. The BASS engine that does Auto settings, is pointless on this Alpine. Just a nice display of BASS with it's ICONS. Really Alpine - get rid of it. It doesn't EQ the sound at all. Too much Treble, not enough Mid range. I'll stick to the TuneIT app. Annoying part - is the USB connection to my iPhone. Once connected, all I see on my iPhone is a display "Pandora ^^ Alpine". I would like to see my pix from the next song on Pandora app!!!!! and see the album cover for a future purchase. And I really like the PIX on sexy Album covers and show it off to guests in my ride. Come on Man! I don't wanna be looking at the same image "Pandora ^^ Alpine". Though the Pandora buttons on the Receiver work at least when USB connected. I get to see pix and touch the Pandora app using Bluetooth connection just no more access to thumbs up/down or change station via Bluetooth.
Pros: Sound quality - is great and I have the option to install Alpine Power Pack down the road for more WATTS Bluetooth - hands free calls. TuneIT app for EQ customization
Cons: Display graphics are ancient looking. I didn't get it for color changes like Pioneer, but, the pixelation on the Display is just awful. At the right angle, from drivers seat, I can see all the backdrops that are currently not being used to display anything. Want the clock to display? Cool. Press display button done. Oh - wait you want Album title displayed and Clock? at the same time? NOPE - can't be done. Cheesy display graphics.
WORKS with pandora on an android phone! Takes a minute to set up - get the online manual - but then no need to touch your phone in the car again, ever. Works completely wireless - phone, pandora, other audio, and you can also charge by plugging into the usb port in the face. Charges slow, but maintains what you have through calls, etc. Installed in a '91 caddy, and playing through only the stock speakers (not Bose) in the dash and one in the door - sounds almost good enough to forget about putting in the other speakers. Can't wait to hear with six working speakers, which go in next week. Promise I don't work for alpine or crutchfield, but had such a good experience so far that I needed to write. They have some special now where you second pair of alpine speakers is half off. Just bought two pairs (5.25s and 6x9s) for about same as shop quoted me for the 6x9s. Hope they don't mind that I'm bringing my own product for install, again. Anyway, this deck is worth it. Aloha
Pros: Pandora plus any sound on your phone plays through wireless bluetooth, and it all actually works USB port on face Relatively easy operation for all that it does Great sound and I'm not even playing through proper speaker set up yet
Cons: Need to read online PDF manual - easy from there but not intuitive Can't read some function labels at night - some functions painted and don't light up That's all minor stuff
Replaced a low-end kenwood, so glad I did. Chose this for the 6 pre-amp outs, bluetooth, and to maybe add xm-radio later. With my D-amp for subs and A/B amp for the car, the sound is so clear cranked up that I hear the distortion in streamed BT pandora (CD quality is crystal). Pairing BT w/android is a chore every time I disconnect the battery, but everytime I get in the car after its auto--this actually may be a problem w/my phone, had to add a BT file-share app to make it pair, its a pain, but only once. Downloading others' eq settings by tuneit looks easy, but by BT or USB connection still tuneit says my phone isn't connected. Whatever, i'm probably going to go with external EQs anyway. I didn't think I was going to want XM, but I'm so happy this has the option to add the tuner, it's a great option to have. This little unit strikes a great price point for options--like setting each source signal strength input so if you switch from USB to tuner to CD you don't go quiet to blasted--sure came out at the right time for me. I'm probably going to find a different BT mic for it, people say it's pretty bad but who knows. I've only had this headunit about a month so we're still getting to know each other. Overall I don't think I could have found a better match for what I was looking for, for my budget, even though I'm dissapointed with the EQ and BT situations, but those can be worked around. A minus
Pros: 6 Preamp Outs, bluetooth, xm capable, can shut off internal amp, USB on front, aux,
Cons: BT mic is lousy, TuneIT w/ an android phone is a no go so far (says please connect), no remote (and the remote you can buy doesn't look so hot, double yuck)
This is a great sounding stereo very happy with it

(AVRCP 1.4 phones only). The head unit will also display your stored music's song information; such as Artist name & Song/Album title. The CDE-153BT even supports audio streaming of music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone with limited control and song/artist information. You will continue to use your Bluetooth enabled smartphone to control advanced music navigation.
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.
Bluetooth Sound Quality Adjustments: You can customize the sound of your Bluetooth hands-free experience to fit your own preferences. You can adjust the CDE-153BT's mic gain, phone output, & ring tone volume. If that's not enough, there are 5 sound quality settings to choose from to get the balance just right for you. 24-Bit D/A Converter: The Alpine CDE-153BT uses a 24-bit D/A converter for superb sound quality and playback of your music.
CEA-2006 Compliant: The specifications given by Alpine for the built-in amplifier comply with the CEA-2006 mobile amplifier power testing and measurement standards from the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can display the CEA-2006 logo on their product.
Note: Add the KTP-445 (500KTP445, sold separately) Head Unit Power Pack to deliver 45 watts x 4-channel RMS of power. The KTP-445 is compact enough to install behind the Alpine CD receiver. It plugs in-line with the head unit's wiring harness, so you don't even need additional wires.
6ch/2V Preamp Outputs: The CDE-153BT has three sets of 2-Volt RCA pre-outs (Front/Rear/Sub) for connection of external amplifiers. The unit's front & rear preamp output can be faded, while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. When an external amplifier is connected sound quality can be improved by stopping the power supply of the built-in amplifier.
Subwoofer Control: When the non-fading subwoofer preamp output is activated, you can adjust the subwoofer's volume, low-pass filter, & phase.
High Pass Filter (for Front & Rear): The Alpine head unit is equipped with a high-pass filter for its speaker-level output and front-channel preamp output (when activated). You can set the unit's high-pass filter to 20Hz, 25Hz, 31.5Hz, 40Hz, 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, or Off (through). The slope of the high pass filter can be set to 6, 12, 18, or 24 dB/oct.
Preset/9-Band EQ: You can select from 11 different EQ presets to get the best sound from all your sources. You can choose from Flat, Pops, Rock, News, Jazz, Electric Dance, Hip-Hop, Easy Listening, Country, Classical, or User. Using the head unit's 9-Band EQ (in User mode), you can modify the EQ settings to create a response curve more appealing to your personal taste.

|2||63 Hz - 315 Hz|
|3||125 Hz - 500 Hz|
|4||250 Hz - 1 kHz|
|5||500 Hz - 2 kHz|
|6||1 kHz - 4 kHz|
|7||2 kHz- 7.2 kHz|
|8||5.8 kHz - 12 kHz|
|9||9 kHz - 20 kHz|
Audio Enhancements: The CDE-153BT offers the following audio adjustments to enhance your in-car listening experience.
Alpine's TuneIt App: TuneIt is an easy-to-use sound-tuning app that also offers Facebook notifications. Download this free app (from Apple's App Store or GooglePlay) onto your Apple iPhone (iOS 6.0+ ) or Android smartphone (2.2+) and create a user profile about your vehicle and sound system. Your iPhone must be connected to the Alpine receiver via the appropriate Alpine iPod connector cable (500KCU445I/500KCU471I sold separately) or the Dock-/Lightning-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Alpine receiver. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi.
Note: Access to TuneIt will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone or smartphone to connect to the Internet. You will also need to turn on the GPS function of your phone.
Beep Guide: This function will give audible feedback with varying tones depending upon the button pressed. The volume of this feature can be set from 0-7.
Detachable Face: The unit's front-panel is detachable to deter theft; a hard storage case is included to protect the faceplate once detached. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can also be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.
Single-Line Display: This unit is equipped with a 1-Line white-backlit LCD, so you can easily view AM/FM stations and ID-3/WMA tag information.
Text Display: The CD receiver will display the folder name, the file name, and the tag information, while playing a USB device loaded with MP3/WMA music files. This unit can scroll the text information of MP3/WMA files, folder names, and tags. There are two Text Scroll settings.
Auto Dimmer: This unit is equipped with an illumination lead (orange); when the unit's dimmer mode is set to Auto and the illumination lead is connected to your vehicle's headlight circuit, the display and button illumination will dim to a fixed, preset level whenever the headlights are turned on. If preferred, you may choose the Manual dimmer mode setting, so the display and button illumination is dim at all times.
Stay On Mode: You can set the delay in turning off the head unit's power after the vehicle's ignition is turned off. When you select a source mode, other than Off, the music will be paused after you turn the ignition key off. At the same time, the prompt "Press Preset 6 to Stay On" will scroll once. Press Preset 6 within 15 seconds to continue to listen to your music for the select period of time (off/5/15/30 min). If Preset 6 is not pressed, the unit will power off within 15 seconds. During this period, you can only receive a call by operating your paired smartphone.
Note: There is a possibility that the battery may be drained if already week during Stay On Mode.
Demo Mode: This unit has a demonstration feature for its display which can be turned On or Off in the menu.
Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.
Optional Wireless Remote: The Alpine CDE-153BT is wireless remote control ready. Simply add on the Alpine RUE-4202 IR remote (500RUE4202, sold separately) to make it even easier to control the head unit's functions.

This had everything i wanted. Stereo works great. [ Sally Apr 03, 2016 ]
I've been an Alpine fan for 20+ years, my son and I built two different cars. The clarity and balance are superb. To think I paid $400 for an Alpine head unit in the early 90's. Not a receiver, no amp or tuner within, just a CD player and amp controls. Bought it because it was the first unit on the market with seperate pre-outs for the subs. Still have it, time to up-grade. [ Hendrick Apr 02, 2016 ]
Rated #3 overall and #1 in sound clarity. Never owned Alpine but my friend swears by them. Plus I couldn't beat the price, I checked all over the internet and Cruchfield had the best price. Along with the online support this seemed like the best bang for the buck. [ Michael Mar 31, 2016 ]

I was looking at this HU and a "sister" unit and finally decided on this one. when I went on line to purchase it I saw that it was on sale, or reduced or whatever you want to call it but the reduction in price was well worth it. Alpines are GREAT HU and if you are considering replacing a factory HU do it with an Alpine. [ Jonathan Jan 01, 2016 ]

If you find out, let me know!! [ JOHN Aug 02, 2015 ]
Yes. The interface for controlling music is a bit wonky compared to iOS, and some apps handle it better than others (pocketcasts does weird things IIRC). But it is totally useable. [ KENNETH Jul 14, 2015 ]

Does this deck have a specific subwoofer control? Does the tune it app have a decent subwoofer control? [ Carter Feb 06, 2015 ]
Does this radio have a HPF? [ dylan Oct 16, 2014 ]
Unsure. I mounted it inside of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, from the construction of the unit, my assumption is that it is not water resistant. [ JAMES Apr 06, 2014 ]
No it is not, the best way is to stay out of the rain or simply go with a marine reveiver. [ NANCY Apr 06, 2014 ]
The CD slot is exposed, so I would say no. [ Kevin Apr 06, 2014 ]
I wouldn't suggest using it on a motorcycle ,as the unit has no sealed controls .The Cd slot would be open to the elements and dust .I would suggest you get a marine type application unit .Or possibly a covered unit face plate would work with this unit. [ scott Apr 06, 2014 ]
Not sure. I never opened the box and I am returning it. [ CORI D Apr 06, 2014 ]
No, however if your careful with washing then most motorcycles won't get the radio wet in the rain as long as your riding. You might want to consider a marine cover too. Pay attention to marine radios, a lot of them are not water proof/ resistant either. They're just rated for salt fog. [ COREY Apr 06, 2014 ]
I'm using this deck in a car, but I'm not sure to what extent it is water resistant. The best bet for you would be checking with Alpine themselves. Hope it helps. [ PAVEL Apr 06, 2014 ]
I personally wouldn't risk it. I've seen people use stereos with fold-down faceplates (covering the CD player) on motorcycles without issue but the opening for the CD player is exposed on this particular model. [ JEREMI Apr 06, 2014 ]
