SiriusXM2 CD receiver

Experience SiriusXM Satellite Radio in your car

Alpine makes it easy for you to tap into the seemingly endless collection of satellite radio channels, right in your dash. Alpine's CDE-124SXM2 CD receiver comes with the compact SXV200 SiriusXM tuner, so you'll have access to over 130 channels, including more than a dozen that broadcast in Spanish, and lots of commercial-free music. You'll also be able to tune into news, sports, and talk, plus exclusive live concerts. No matter what you're in the mood for, chances are SiriusXM has something you'll like. And you can dial in the same stations from coast to coast.

Low-profile, easy-to-connect tuner

The extremely compact SXV200 tuner connects directly to the CDE-124SXM2. Once connected, you can pause and rewind live broadcasts, plus get a heads up when your favorite artists or teams are playing on another channel. And with an iPod connected, you can tag songs for purchasing later in the iTunes™ store. A SiriusXM subscription is required.

Bring your PANDORA® Internet radio stations with you

PANDORA® is a great way to enjoy music, and the CDE-124SXM2 lets you play it in your car. First, you need to download a free PANDORA® iPhone app. Once your iPhone's connected to the USB input, you can select PANDORA® as a source and use the receiver's controls to navigate your stations. You can rate songs on the fly with the dedicated "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" buttons so that PANDORA® knows what music to play for you. You can even create a new station right from the CDE-124SXM2 when you hear something that knocks you out.

Rock all your tunes

Of course, you can play all your CDs, including discs you've loaded with MP3 files. You can also load your files on a USB thumb drive, then pop it in the front USB input. The front auxiliary input comes in handy for connecting another portable player.

An easy way to boost your power

A set of preamp outputs provides a convenient connection for an amp or a powered sub, and you can use the subwoofer level control to dial in the right amount of bass. Use the 3-band parametric EQ to adjust the sound in your vehicle, or choose from one of the ten preset options. One more cool feature — this receiver works with Alpine's KTP-445A Power Pack, a compact box that hooks up easily to your receiver, boosting its power from 18 watts up to a serious 45 watts RMS per channel.

If you're going to use your iPod with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this receiver or its optional iPod adapter.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My factory stereo began to have CD issues, so I researched my options. A new unit was over $400, and a refurbished unit $100. For $150, I got this item with all the necessary accessories. The original stereo sounded great, but this one sounds better. This unit doesn't provide the steering wheel controls or the song title display, but I saved over $200 and got better sound. I also got more Sirius/XM channels than I had before. The free shipping, dash kit, harness, and antenna cable only made the deal better. Crutchfield rocks!

Pros: Better sound, more satellite channels, fast and free shipping, free accessories.

Cons: Not compatible with steering wheel controls, but that is plainly described on the website.

so far the radio has been hard to navigate--when you select different genres and "set" the stations it does not allow separate saved stations for each genre! thats beyond stupid--sometimes I cant even turn the unit down--I've obviously clicked onto some weird screen--maybe I just haven't figured it out yet--but everything everyone says about Alpine having convoluted menus is correct--

Pros: cheap--fast delivery--comes with XM tuner

    Cons: menus and nav sux

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was by far the best combination of features & price that I could find. For me, the major factors were: front, rear, & sub preamp outs; USB & MP 3 jackS on the front, & sirius/xm. For now, the 18 watts X 4 of internal power are sufficient, but I'll be adding amps in the near future. My only real complaints are the numerous levels of menus you have to drill down through to make changes, and, the rather confusing way it banks USB folders & files. For some reason, when you first insert a thumb drive, the files are played in order of their file name, not folder by folder. For example, all of the songs that have "01" as the beginning of their name play first. So, if you have a dozen folders on a thumb drive, it wants to play the first song from each album 1st, then onto the 2's, & so on. You can change it's playback style, but it should be automatic instead of a choice.

Pros: multitude of features, price, a great deal of user configurations

Cons: complexity of user configurations. Also, to change from one source to another, you have to toggle through all choices & possibly circle back around to the one you want. TUNER - SIRIUS/FM - DISC - USB - PANDORA - AUXILIARY -TUNER - etc. Lastly, the sirius/fm does not automatically display artist &/or song title when a new song starts...the factory system in my wife's car does that & I was surprised that this Alpine doesn't.

    2000 Hyundai Elantra
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had an older Alpine CD receiver for years and loved it. I switched to add the Sirius in dash radio. Let me preface this to say that I believe that my receiver is dysfunctional and will need to be replaced. This is definitely coloring my review. That said, the first disappointment was that with all the bells and whistles, it does not do the tasks I want, essentially to see a display with time, performer, and song. Instead you must scroll through a whole bunch of options to select only one - extremely annoying to have to press 6-10 buttons to get the time, etc. Secondly, the SiriusXM tuner is terrible. I live rurally and it cuts out about 20% of the time. (My previous Starmate 5 was ten times better and would maybe cut out 5% of the time). Thirdly, the unit blacks out pretty regularly with no rhyme or reason and then displays a message saying it can't find the tuner, (I sure hope its broken.) Finally, although no fault of Alpine, I discovered that SiriusXM is quite different from Sirius. The result is that I am now paying more for less option than what I had with my old a la carte subcription.

Pros: Nice look and I like the features. Great sound. Fairly easy to use.

Cons: Too many bells and whistles, many that I will never use. Simple tasks are complicated - requiring too many steps. Terrible XM receiver.

    Good value

Sound quality is great. Button layout and functions are straightforward. Software menu could have been improved. Why scroll through a variety of aux input menus, when the radio already knows there is no input attached. SiriusXM displays could be better, but may be out of Alpines control.

Pros: Great value with multiple aux inputs. Love the built in SiriusXM feature.

Cons: Software menus for the screen display could be better.

lOVE IT and love Alpine!!!! My first truck had an Alpine unit in it and when i traded it in and i didnt take it out like a dummy!! So when i got my new truck and heard the stock radio!! I had to quickly buy another!! Alpine has always made quality equipment and always sounds great!!! I had Sirius as well and had wires going everywhere. The SIRIUSXM tuner that comes with it makes it so much easier to have it plug into the back so all you see is the head-unit and not all the other stuff. Now if u have a Sirius account and not Xm you will have to call SiriusXm and set up an Xm account because the tuner is an XM radio and wont go on ur existing Sirius account. I know that they Are both the same company now, but they still use different tuners if that makes any sense!!! So you just have to call and they will set it up.

Pros: Sound, look, and SiruisXm tuner included.

Cons: have to set up new Xm acount even if you already have Siruis.

I recently bought this stereo for my boyfriends birthday, and he LOVED it! The buttons on the side and around the knob glow blue, which matched with his blue seat lights and steering wheel (he loves blue). We tried out the SiriusXM that came free for 5 days with it, and ended up buying that, too. The stereo was a bit hard to install, took the both of us about two hours to complete on our 2005 Kia Optima. The sound quality was amazing, even without a burn in period! And for all that you get, it's well worth the price. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who appreciates great sound quality, and doesn't mind getting their hands a little dirty during installation :)

    Pros: Sound quality, lighting

    Cons: Somewhat difficult to install

    2006 Acura RSX
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Firstly, I gave this stereo 4 out of 5 stars because 5 stars for me implies it's the cream of the crop in every aspect. So don't take 4 stars as this being an inferior product, as I do recommend this product. I bought this stereo to replace the factory unit in my wife's 2006 Acura RSX. She primarily wanted to be able to plug her phone or iPod into the car stereo. iPhone and iPod adapters for her factory stereo were $80-100 (for something that looked worth buying). So I decided to replace the entire stereo since the sound quality improvement would justify the added cost. Since this Alpine has both a USB input and 1/8" jack auxiliary input on the front, I knew she'd be happy with one of the two. She will primarily listen to Pandora via her iPhone on this Alpine using the aux input. While the sound quality is less when using the aux input, it is considerably easier for her to manage Pandora via her phone than it is via the Alpine unit, which is required when you listen to Pandora via the USB input. I found the interface to be a little clunky when managing Pandora via the Alpine unit, but that is why I got a stereo with both USB and aux inputs. My wife is not a car audio fanatic, so it will be perfect for her needs. This Alpine has plenty of power for the stock speakers and is a noticeable improvement in sound quality over the non-Bose factory unit. The Alpine is also easy to navigate, thanks to be a fairly simple head unit (not meant in a bad way).

Pros: good value, easy to navigate, more than sufficient power for stock speakers, both USB and 1/8" jack inputs provided on the front, two pre-amp outputs for expansion, looks sleek

Cons: the built-in Pandora interface when connecting your phone via the USB input is "clunky"

Great radio for the price if your looking for something with XM capability. With the XM portable unit, I would need to adjust fm stations occasionally on long rides to receive XM broadcasts, this is no longer the case. Takes some time getting use to radio controls, once you do it's smooth sailing.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was purchased to replace the factory radio in a '91 Mustang Convertible where maintaining an "original look" was key, but we needed a unit strong enough to combat wind noise. ('91 convertibles aren't a quiet as newer ones.) The output of this unit is more than sufficient without an external amplifier. It looks great & I especially like the fact that I can dim the back-lighting for night driving. Honestly, this unit does far more than I will ever require of it. It's a fantastic value from a manufacturer with a stellar history. The build quality is magnificent. I would highly recommend it.

I really like it. I haven't gotten the best reception out of the sirius antena yet, as mounted it on the dash. I will play with the location before I poo-poo the reception completely. CD works great. Tuner works great. Haven't used the other features yet. Instructions were a bit confusing, but with Crutchfields help I got it in and wired up with four speakers with no hickups.

Pros: Sounds good, easy user instructions.

Cons: Sirius antena loses signal on dash if I'm headed N or NE. Alpine installation instructions not great.

My Radio arrived today and with the FREE supplied parts I needed to convert my factory radio in my Silverado 3500 it was a breeze to install. All part fitted perfect and I had no problem following the easy installations guide that was included. Very fast free 2 day shipping and no hassle installation. On top of that the best price I found online and a lot of free parts needed for the conversion. I definitely keep in mind for my further Audio needs!

Pros: A very good shopping experience and a quality Car stereo.

    Cons: Non so far.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this Alpine unit as a replacement for a Sony marine for my motorcycle. Tried for 8 months to get the satt. interface to work reliably w/ the Sony. The Alpine set up worked flawlessly right out of the box. I also find the controls more intuitive.

    Pros: .Satt. radio is great!! Controls are easy to use. FM section seems to work well, even with a less than optimal antenna. Sound quality is very good. If you're going to use this unit in a car; I don't know how you could fault it. The discounted combo price is a true bargain!!! And, of course you get Crutchfield customer service! To me, great service is worth paying a little more! That being said; I couldn't find a better price ANY WHERE on this unit! And, no, I am NOT a Crutchfield employee!!! :}

Cons: No steering wheel remote input but I knew that when I bought the unit and got an IR remote as an accessory. Display hard to see in btight sun light.(motorcycle mount, would be fine in car)

Tim from Rochester, NY on 10/19/2012

This radio was very easy to install (Great installation instructions included) I immediately noticed better audio quality as soon as I tuned into Satellite radio, and I have 10 year old factory speakers.

Pros: Sound quality, ease of install, the ability to change the color of the display is a cool feature & nice display...not the best, but nice.

Cons: No Bluetooth connectivity (I don't care anyway, that's my friend's problem) Also, needs some type of interface / device to control the radio at the steering wheel (But that applies to many car radios)

    Great Product
