The CDE-HD148BT CD receiver will appeal to AM/FM radio fans everywhere with its built-in HD Radio™ tuner. Stations broadcasting an HD Radio signal offer a digital signal with FM that sounds nearly on par with a CD, and smooth -sounding AM that doesn't crackle with static on those hot summer nights. And many HD Radio stations offer multicasting, letting you enjoy different programming options on the same frequency. If you want to take your radio listening to the outer limits, you can also add a SiriusXM tuner to this receiver (subscription required) and enjoy unparalleled choices in news, talk, sports, and commercial-free music.
The CDE-HD148BT can tune into the improved sound quality of HD Radio stations.
Built-in Bluetooth lets you make and take calls hands-free when you're in the car, so you can keep your attention on the road while you talk — no fumbling for the phone or driving with one hand in busy traffic. And you can stream audio from your Bluetooth devices too, with receiver control of basic functions like track up and down. Plus, Alpine's Quad illumination lets you choose from four different colors for the receiver's control buttons for a style that'll work in your car.
The Alpine TuneIt App lets you tap into the power of your Android™, iPhone®, and the cloud to customize this receiver's sound output for your car. Download the Alpine TuneIt App and you'll have access to over 3000 custom sound parameters from Alpine's servers. The sound parameters tailor the CDE-HD148BT's 9-band equalizer, digital time correction, high- and low-pass filters, and Media Xpander to tune your system to match your car model, car type, and listening position. And you can share your custom settings with others and even get feedback through Facebook.
The CDE-HD148BT features a handy front-panel auxiliary input and a rear USB port with extension cable. Plug into the USB port for full control over the music stored on your iPhone or iPod®, while Alpine's App Direct Mode lets you control basic playback and view song/artist info from many iPhone music apps. Of course you can enjoy your CDs too, including recordable discs.
Want more power? You can add Alpine's KTP-445 Power Pack amplifier, a compact plug-and-play solution that brings this receiver's power output up to 45 watts RMS per channel. Or you can hook up conventional external amplifiers to the three sets of high-voltage preamp outputs to create a killer system for your ride.
In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.
Bluetooth and hands free calling work great.

Average Customer Review(s):
Bluetooth and hands free calling work great.
Sounds great, only drawback was that the operating instructions included with it left a lot to be desired. Took some time, but I was eventually able to figure out how to operate the receiver and make all the adjustments to the sound that I desired. It took a few more minutes to figure out how to preset radio stations. These were simple steps that should have been spelled out in the operating instructions. Other than that, have only had it in the vehicle for two days, but am very pleased with it.
The Alpine CDE-HD148BT has Great Options...Sounds Great and its priced Reasonable..... Great Quality from Alpine Stereo Company
Pros: Best Sounds for the Money
I have had this installed for a week now and, once again, I am very pleased with Alpine. The unit gets great reception, the sound is awesome, and fairly easy to use. Of course, Crutchfield made the install easy with all the parts and instructions specific to my vehicle. I would recommend this unit to someone else.
Pros: Ease of use, sound, Bluetooth quality.
Cons: Alpine app for tuning is a little clunky.
Very nice unit for the price. I needed a replacement unit for an old BMW with amber lighting, and this fit the bill. Fantastic features for the $. I am also very impressed with the ease to use the controls while driving. My old Kenwood was a pain with tiny buttons and non-intuitive controls. This Alpine seems easier to adjust at speed. I wish the text was also color adaptable, stays on blue.
Pros: Big features in a single DIN, easy to use controls.
82 Chevy StarCraft Van. Great head unit so far. Looks great and easy to use without looking.
Pros: Easy to use. Sounds great.
Cons: Source menu has many options and takes a little while to cycle through.
This thing is Awesome. I'm not usually a fan of aftermarket equipment. But this Alpine is great. The HD radio is seamless and very clear sound quality. I'm running it with Alpine speakers and it sounds terrific! I am very happy with it.
2006 Lexus RX400h. Just by replacing the radio, made the entire system sound like it had been upgraded. Awesome Radio. Also. love the HD Radio feature. In the Los Angles area, allows me to listen to most of the AM news and sports stations in FM Stereo quality. FM stations are CD quality.
Pros: HD Radio. Sound Quality, Easy source switching. Able to adjsut EQ settings on Iphone.
Really impressed with the amount of features packed into this. As an audio engineer its great to have a lot of control over the parametric EQ (9 bands!) as well as high-pass filtering for the front and rear speakers separately. Plenty of power for what I use it for and it can play whatever I need (from my phone, ipod, radio, cd, etc.).
Great price works awsome
Love the product everything works great very satisfied!
Haven't had it long but I like it
Huge improvement over stock radio. Controls are easy to use and with the app to modify the radio it makes it super easy to adjust levels.
I love this deck if you like loud crisp music thus is the head unit you want thus is a must have
Pros: I live the fact it has 4 volt pre outs nice loud crisp music the display is nice I prefer raw audio over a fancy pretty deck alpine is the only head unit I'll ever own the app works nicely with it
Great product with a lot of options and great price. This is the best deck that I have had so far. This is the 5th one.
Pros: Nothing yet.
Cons: So far, so good.
This is an awesome unit that is easy to use and delivers a host of upgrades from the stock radio. The sound is amazing and power seems clean and clear.
Pros: Great sound. Awesome features. Easy to use.
Installed with ease and works like a charm. The Bluetooth displays the caller ID on the screen and calls are clear for me and the person calling. 7th Gen Ipod Nano also works well even though it only is guaranteed to work with 6th gen.
Pros: 7th gen Ipods work well Clear Bluetooth Calling
Fast and very easy installation of this unit. I am very happy with all functions of this radio.
Amazing receiver. This sounds so awesome and was very easy to install. Normally I buy my cars with premium sound systems. I purchased a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor for my work. The emphasis on that car certainly wasn't on the audio. My product advisor recommended this head unit and I couldn't be happier. Easy installation, great features, great bluetooth performance and the convenience of Pandora in my car - what more could you want. I actually cancelled my Sirius XM subscription after getting this.
Pros: Easy install, great performance, tons of features, even the most discriminating buyer would be impressed. Alpine and Crutchfield rock!
Awesome stereo, love how I can match the stereo lighting to my dash lighting. Sounds good I wired in the KTP445A powerpack to help push the speakers harder. Great quality stereo with a lot of options
Pros: All around great stereo can't complain.
Cons: Wish it came with a remote.
Great radio. No complaints.
Purchased this head unit approximately two weeks ago. The sound difference it makes through the speakers is amazing. The customizable ability of the eq and the features is very refreshing from other units I have owned. The Bluetooth and ipod features work seamlessly. It is a very straight forward installation and is very simple especially with the great help of the crutchfield representatives that made sure I had everything necessary. I am running two 12 inch subwoofers as well and this system makes it very easy to tune the sub and everything else. Amazing that it only cost as much as it did. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good quality deck with great abilities. Thank you crutchfield.
Pros: Everything about this unit is great. The sound quality it puts out has to be one of its greatest highlights along with the customizable eq for every setting from radio to ipod.
Love this head unit install wss fairly straight forward . It actually made the stock speakers sound good.
Pros: Install kits were awsome
Great head unit, mostly easy to use, fast boot up, and plenty of options. Only complaint would be the sat radio search option, but that's more limited to the head units size than actual function
Function is great, I have not complaints there. The biggest problem I have with this unit is that you can't see the time and artist/song at the same time. You can see either the source/time, or artist/song, switching between the two by pressing the display button. Plus, the display is impossible to see if the sun is out.
Excellent unit!! Great sound and easy connectivity to media. The installation was made easy with the adapter and dash kit.
Pros: Great unit!
Cons: No complaints
Totally enjoy this head unit and performs great at all the things that are important to me. Love the USB in the back so you can leave your stuff plugged in and locked in the glovebox out of sight.
Pros: USB in the back
I've been testing the unit for a couple days and overall it's really impressive. The sound is crisp and clear, with expressive detail in the audio production. I have tested both BT and Aux inputs from a Samsung Galaxy Note 7. BT is adequate, certainly great for BT 2.0. I would like to have aptX in the unit with BT 4+. But, the Aux input works as well. To my ears, the bass and treble seems clearer when using the Aux input, from the Note 7 via USB-C and an AudioQuest Dragonfly. In that configuration I can hear a lot of detail and punch in my music and podcast voices are very listenable. I like to listen to podcasts at 2x speed, so clarity is important and this unit fits the bill as well as my other Harmon Kardon unit, and it's much better than the factory unit in my Toyota. Pandora, Alpine Tuning, and general phone integration seem fine so far. HD radio is also fine but doesn't seem to get as many stations as I would expect, but I hardly listen to radio anymore so it doesn't really matter. Volume seems really good compared to my other cars, easily goes really loud. Bass is a little weak, I'm having a sub installed soon.
Pros: - Fantastic clarity. - Phone integration is working well. - Like the color change options. - Really easy to setup. - Companion TuneIt app seems to work well, with lots of settings from the community.
Cons: - Lack of BT HD / aptX audio. Alpine should spend $5 and add this to all models. (-1 star) - You'll probably need to reboot your devices to get everything from phone to deck talking.
Instant improvement over my 2005 stock receiver. Yeah! I now have Bluetooth like my wife's 2016! The receiver has four face color illumination choices to coordinate with your interior.
Pros: Bluetooth, illumination choices, Alpine app to tune receiver, mic that allows for hands free talking
Cons: No USB input on face, but does provide a receiving cord that can be used to plug in phone
Best single Din available! I'm especially happy that I bought it while on sale.
Pros: I bought this for the high voltage pre-amp outputs, but loved it for the aux in the front, Blue tooth, USB, and it can still plays all types of cds!
Cons: The USB is in the back, and needed some modification to access it from the front, it came with a 5 ft extension, but I didn't use it. Instead I bought a flush mount kit from ebay and used that to bring it all together.
Awesome stereo, so many features at a bargain price, very crisp and clear sound, installation was a breeze with instruction from Crutchfield
Pros: Great sound, easy to navigate between sources
Cons: Haven't found any yet
Never had an Alpine but wish I did in the early 90's when much of my friends did. Very happy with this radio. Very easy to hook up in a 2005 Chrysler Sebring Conv. Spent more time putting the wires together than the install. Bluetooth is awesome. A loud unit even without an amp.
Pros: Nothing really. Easy install and zero complaints.
Easy to use! High quality!
This is a great-sounding unit and a huge improvement over the stock one. It's very flexible, at the usual cost of complication, but even just fooling around with it got success in basic usage. I'm very happy with it. The buttons are very small for those of us with large hands, and the clock doesn't display while playing anything, but those are small quibbles I knew about from the reviews before ordering it. One support note: The display and illumination flickered when I turned on the vehicle lights, and calling Crutchfield support yielded the advice to disconnect the orange (dimmer circuit) wire and check that the circuit was actually sending 12v. Logical enough, but removing the unit from my F250 Super Duty would have meant removing the entire dash front and disconnecting all eight dash controls, which took a very long time in the installation. So I procrastinated while I thought about that, and then remembered that I keep my dash lights very low. Turning them up a bit stopped the flickering. I mention it here because I don't know whether that would happen with any unit or just this one.
Pros: Great sound, tons of flexibility and customization options, especially the EQ presets.
Cons: Very small buttons, complex to customize.
By far a tremendous value. Great sound, easy to operate and easy to install.
Great head unit with tons of features. Good sound quality and lots of tuning ability with the 9 band parametric EQ.
Pros: 9 band parametric EQ. Time alignment. Built in crossovers. 24 Bit DAC. Great sound quality and up to 4 volts output from the RCAs.
Cons: Doesn't come with a remote.
I had alpine in all of my cars, I love the fact that I can take the face off. The sleek smooth of the blue n red;green bring it to your liking.
Pros: Sounds great n plays well.
Cons: No cons
I installed this head unit to replace the OEM Bose system in a 2000 Yukon while upgrading the speakers to Alpine Type R but leaving the OEM Bose Amp and Subwoofer as I wasn't ready to replace them at this time. This unit has greatly exceeded my expectations but particularly in its Pandora functionality and with other bluetooth features. I have a budget friendly LG Stylo2 running 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) which was released late 2015. My phone has connected with bluetooth each time I've gotten in the vehicle in the two months since the install. I really like how after only about 15 seconds the bluetooth connection is made and if the source is set to Pandora my current channel immediately starts playing. I used the Metra wiring integration device and also removed the separate Bose single disk CD player and installed a replacement pocket which holds my USB cable and the microphone which I attached with a small piece of velcro. The sound quality for phone calls and for music is excellent. Since I do not like the stock Bose Subwoofer in the Yukon I turned it off on the head unit and if I had a criticism of the unit it is that this did not completely silence the subwoofer. However, I installed the Alpline TuneIt app on my phone and used it to turn off the lowest bandwidth range which effectively silenced the subwoofer completely. Plus the overall sound is much better when TuneIt is used.
Pros: Great variety of sources including HD radio, USB, AUX, music CD, and Pandora. The bluetooth and Pandora functions using my phone are excellent. Very good sound quality and the ability to apply 9 band equalization with the TuneIt app. Very good music sound quality and also for phone calls.
Cons: Subwoofer off setting did not completely silence that speaker. Saving and retrieving settings on the TuneIt app is clunky but effecdive.
First Alpine unit I've purchased since the early 70's. Very pleased with sound quality, ease of use, etc. Display is easy to read day or night. Also added the plug and play Alpine amp, really boosts already great sound quality. Also purchased the available remote.
Good price and awesome sound
Pros: Good quality
Just installed 2 of these. 1 went in an 87 Grand National the 2nd went in my Jeep 5.9. Also in taller the PACSWI in the Jeep. Both installs went in flawlessly and Crutchfield included everything needed. The only thing I wish I had was more eq options, like separate front back eq. This head unit is a Swiss army knife with connectivity (source) options.
Cons: None really.
Awesome unit. I had bought the cde-153bt and was disappointed with the blue tooth connectivity. This unit Connects easy to my Samsung Galaxy 5 active with no problems. Solid head unit great clear and crisp sound even with the stock speakers. I've always been a Kenwood guy, but after listening to an Alpine unit in another friends car i decided to give Alpine a shot. Definitely not disappointed with this head unit!
Pros: Crisp clear sound. Easy Bluetooth connectivity. Easy to read screen, does not wash out with sun.
Cons: Wish it came with a remote.
This stereo sounds much better and has so many more options than the stock receiver. Crutchfield support is amazing, and installation was a breeze. I am going to purchase the same product for my other car.
Pros: Great sound quality and ease of use.
Cons: None, other than a slight vibration from behind the dash that I should be able to diagnose.
Nice radio with many functions. I wanted to add Bluetooth and got so much more. I'm extremely happy with this purchase. The sound quality is amazing.
Pros: Many functions, great sound quality, and reasonably priced.
Very easy to install and setup is easy also. Excellent sound with the Focal speakers in the car, couldn't ask for anything better.
Pros: Looks great in dash sound quality hard to beat Ipod play is great sound iq is very high
Cons: does not have separate bass button that's all I can think off
Had originally planned to keep the stock head unit in my Jeep for a "stock appearance" to deter theft. I've already upgraded all my speakers and added a compact powered sub under the driver's seat and have generally been happy with the overall sound although I knew adding an aftermarket head unit would improve the overall sound. I've just finished installing this and have done some basic setup and tweaking. My initial impressions are very good. Nice sound quality. A wide range of sound adjusting options for a single DIN unit, and at the current price, this is a bargain with everything this unit can do. If you're looking for a single DIN unit and are more interested in sound quality and sound adjustment options than a lot of other things that other head units tailor to, you may want to consider the CDE-HD148BT
Pros: Three pair of 4 volt pre-outs, detachable face, multitude of sound adjustment options, switchable 4 color illumination.
Cons: None that I've encountered in the short time I've owned the unit
This is the first Alpine head unit that I have had I n a while. Alpine never disappoints! I had a cheaper head unit in my classic hot rod and decided that Alpine would suit my classic cruiser just fine. Sounds awesome from HD radio to Skrillex to Bob Seger, all awesome sound.
Pros: Multiple connection points, HD radio, easy installation, easy to use, TuneIt app rocks! Interfaces well with my complete Alpine system.
Good looking and sounding unit but all you have to adjust the eq is a bass and treble really missing my Sony that had all the frequencys, if your like me and like to get it all just right go win a Sony.
Pros: Looks good, simple function not confusing, great clarity on Bluetooth phone calls, good sound
Cons: Not adjustable enough need more eq settings to adjust bass mids and trebles
So I had purchased the CDE-153BT for my 4runner, but had some issues, returned it, and upgraded into this unit, and I'm so thankful that I did. Having the second line for artist/title is much more pleasing, and considering how much I use that feature, it was totally worth the extra $40. Along with that extra line of text, the HD radio is a definitely step up, and the unit just *sounds* better overall.
Easy to install in 2003 F-250, even with dealing with a mess from a previous install that was done poorly. Directions are simple just follow the wiring labels, can be tricky if your color blind like myself and your wire colors are different shades.
Pros: Lots of tuning possibilities with the downloadable app, simple button nice design face
Cons: Like with most single DINN units buttons can be close together
Alpine has always been in my opinion the best aftermarket radio that you can get. This radio lives up to that expectation. The sound quality is awesome and is instantly noticeable over the stock head unit. The Bluetooth works awesome and actually has settings so that if it doesn't work quite well out of the box you can adjust it to work better. Caller Id and Dialing feature is nice. Pandora feature works flawless! Iphone works very well with this head unit all around. Installation was very easy as long as you have the right tools and a little mechanical know how. I would recommend this radio to anyone who is looking for a premium sound option but is shopping on a budget.
Pros: bluetooth works awesome Tune It app is easy to use and works great ease of installation great sound quality Iphone works very well with this unit
Cons: cannot see the clock when displaying song title and artist.
This is a great product at a very affordable price from Alpine. It was easy to set up and adjust the 9-band parametric equalizer, crossover etc. The preset equalizer settings sound great but I like the versatility of the parametric eq. This definitely sounds better than the Kenwood I had in my F-150. The sound is much fuller from low to highs. I don't have an external amp or component speakers, just 2-way MTX 6x8 in the doors but I love the way the Alpine brought the speakers to life. Alpines' Tune-it App is great. I like that you can adjust the eq via smartphone and try other peoples settings.
Pros: Great sound, easy to use, adjustability and value.
Cons: I wish you could make eq changes via Bluetooth and control Pandora via Bluetooth with the iPhone like you can with an Android device.
very good was a easy job to install, great sound
Pros: great sound
Cons: if you have the display of song title, then you can't have the time displayed also
The radio is a great item, the sound quality in this radio is amazing. I had bought a different brand after having alpine receivers in all my cars, but was not pleased with the sound. The nice people at Crutchfield made it a breeze to exchange. But the receiver works beautiful the sound is very easy to equalize using the TuneIt app that Alpine has available for both phone softwares. I was able to find a tune configuration that sound perfect, you can hear all the musical instruments in the music with pure clarity. I really suggest looking into this item you won't be disappointed.
Pros: Sound Quality, TuneIt App, Easy to Install...Overall your buying a quality Item from a well known brand.
The 148 cde hd . Was Breeze to install . Hardest part was taking my dash apart the Supplied face plate had a gap around the entire unit 1/4 of inch . .That Impacted nothing on the Unit just had to buy another face plate now it sits flush no gaps ..If you are like us not need amp and there is loads of boom boom thou it has kick might add amp but these 40 something adults see no need for it .Only Glitch my Wife notes is when she pushes volume up on her note 4 bit back ground static .After you lower the volume on the note 4 and re plug it into the auxiliary port things are great once again ..Aside from that Mels a Happy camper that makes my life blessed For the Money you would be a fool to over look it .even if it is rear usb its worth the money great sound quality over the factory radio .Antenna reception bit off but maybe were not use to how hd radio works yet ..A local station less than 8 miles away not picking it up were miffed . thats a wrap and our thought s ..
Pros: great unit loads of power syce nice for us all our device work fine worst mistake if you want to save money and get bang for your money . this would be a excellent unit choice from Alpine
Cons: none other than just got get use to how every thing works rear usb not a hassle to us .Just to new generation that exerting body energy to connect cable to the plug in .Other note any firm ware updates must be done vi a flash drive to the usb
Alpine continues to turn out a high-quality head unit, year after year. This model offers the abilities of today, with the simple goodness of every Alpine head unit I've owned since the early nineties. The display is dated, (4 star "coolness factor"), but it is a good compromise for the price, (5 star "value").
Pros: Price, Features, 4v Pre amp outs.
Cons: Dated display
My mom loves it. Simple to operate and delivers great sound.
Pros: Sound, features, ease of operation
Cons: Doesn't display time on all display settings
I am extremely pleased with the purchase of this Alpine unit. The sound quality is amazing. I had purchased another brand of receiver and had lots of trouble with the Bluetooth. I decided to try a different brand and went with this Alpine unit. The sound quality is so much better. The controls are responsive and phone quality is great. My girlfriend can't even tell I'm in my truck. The only downside is the display is dated and should be a higher resolution. I couldn't justify spending the extra $ for the next model with the better display. I am now a huge Alpine fan.
Pros: Awesome sound. Fast source switching, Pandora works great. HD radio gives me more choices local stations. Using phone app to try different sound settings based on other user's setting is a great idea.
Cons: Display is dated. iPhone app needs fixing.
Great stereo at a great price
Perfect head unit it is on the pricey aide but worth ever penny
Pros: Everything you read in description
I bought this for a 1989 Mazda RX7. Could not get the wiring right. It requires for "negative trip" for all features to work on car. 8 techs and 10 days later it works. What do you expect from a 27 year old. The system sounds amazing and looks very nice with the orange display it matches the cars original display. I am very pleased. It sounds even better with the KTP-445A amplifier.
Pros: The Bluetooth works like a charm.
It was not a fan of my Galaxy S6 phone and only has a rear USB port. I returned it for a Kenwood KDC-X700
Pros: easy to read display
Cons: no front usb, doesn't really recognize newer phones.
I love the look of this new Alpine. The features on this radio are endless. Very easy to operate too
Pros: Bluetooth, quad illumination, ease of operation
Cons: None yet
Had a problem with a 3 yr. Kenwood receiver KDC-BT752HD - wouldn't power off properly - so ordered this unit. Installation was a breeze, although had to use a different wiring harness, and the bracket that the receiver chassis slides into was different - but had already installed the single DIN adapter when I did the Kenwood install. My main requirements for a receiver are HD radio, Bluetooth for hands free calling, CD player. This unit has a more sensitive HD tuner than the Kenwood, and it allows you to save the HD station as a preset- The Kenwood required cycling through the sources to activate the HD, with no option to save HD setting. The external microphone is a big improvement over the built in one in the Kenwood. Buttons are still small - a general problem with all of these receivers, but control is a bit more intuitive. Sound is great - even using stock speakers.
Pros: Bluetooth connection - good phone audio, ability to save HD radio settings, attractive styling, excellent sound quality, good graphics= including signal loss indicator for weak HD reception.
Cons: small buttons for control. Instruction manual is a bit cryptic, although they did include an instruction CD - which I've yet to look at.
Great replacement for an older Alpine receiver that was more basic but still delivered great sound. This upgrade was more for the technology features such as blue-tooth, Pandora along with hands free phone ability. Additionally the extra sound adjustment for my sound system was very nice. The service at Crutchfield is unmatched!
I've been installing and using Alpine product for 20+ years now in my own vehicles. My son and I installed this stereo in his truck, and I was very pleased to see that Alpine is still the best car stereo in the book. The stereo is very easy to program and use, pairing the phone to the stereo was a breeze. The quality of the hands free options is every as bit as good as the factory system in my wife's new Denali. The sound quality even through the factory speakers is awesome! all in all a great stereo with tons of features for a GREAT price. The install was a breeze with the instructions, adaptors, and mounting kit provided with the order from Crutchfield. Highly recommended! Great Value!
Pros: easy install sound quality tons of features for a great price hands free calling is easy to use and sounds great Great Value!
Cons: none that I can think of right now.
Installation is on a medium level. Folks a some technical knowledge can do this. Crutchfield Tech Guys are a big help. Quite knowledgeable.
Pros: Relatively straight forward installation. Very good sound quality. A big bunch of features once you sort them out. Quite happy with the unit.
Cons: Fit of the plastic adapter leaves much to be desired. There's a gap between the top and bottom of the adapter that is a visually unacceptable. Also, it would be easy to lose a CD through this gap. It would end up behind the dashboard. I miss a clock! A bit cumbersome to operate. I'll get that straight in time. I also wish I had fade control.
Great head unit, replaced the UTE-62BT that I ordered a week earlier with it. Sound quality over the UTE-62BT is night and day, even with the factory EQ set at flat.
Pros: 2 line dot matrix display, great sound right out of the box, rear USB plug (instead of on the faceplate), easy to set up, HD radio.
Cons: Only 4 colors to choose from for the interior lighting, isn't the easiest to match to the interior.
Over all it was great for the price, the sound was a huge improvement over the pioneer deck it replaced. Not a huge fan of the menu structure. It is a little bit scattered through out the radio. The 9 band eq is in a totally different section than the normal Bass and Treble settings. Alos there is no mid eq on the basic settings. The nine band eq is awesome once it is dialed in and sounds , well it sounds like a alpine , which is awesome. The app for tuning is a pain to navigate also. Once it is set it is good to go. I have JBL GX502 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers in the back , and JBL GX862 6"x8" 2-way car speakers in the front doors, weird design I would have thought that would be backwards but it is a convertible running with a JBL GX-A604 4-channel car amplifier - 60 watts RMS x 4, then kicker Kicker 10CVR102s CompVR 10" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils in a bandpass box. The entire set up sounds amazing with the Alpine CDE-HD148BT. I could not get the Mic to work with the radio at all. That is the only major thing I have complaints about.
Pros: 4 volt pre amps Bluetooth connectivity is really good - It has not dropped out once and automaticly connects once set up Easy to use for day to day use - Hard to dial in to get everything tweaked and dialed in The price is pretty on point for the other head units in the same price range
Cons: Could not get the Microphone to work at all - Think I got a bad mic stright out of the box The app is a pain if you try to use it, cool idea though but over all it was easier to dial it in from the head unit itself
The receiver was delivered promptly and was very easy to install. The unit functions very well with the steering wheel remote and the audio is outstanding.
Pros: Easy installation, works well with my IPhone and the display is very easy to read
Cons: I would have like to have a USB port on the unit.
I've owned a long line of Alpine car decks and always been impressed. This one adds some new features, including Bluetooth and a direct USB connection. My earlier decks were Bluetooth-ready and required a special cable to connect an iPod of similar USB device. Setting this guy up was easy and sound quality is excellent. Adjusting settings is a breeze. The Bluetooth connection to my iPhone works flawlessly, though I have to say I only use it to stream music. Another impressive product from Alpine.
Pros: Great sound, intuitive menus, high value
Really like the stereo and easy to use. It charges the devices while using the auxiliary cord plug. Had all the features I wanted, easy to install.itive. Very easy to switch between inputs (Bluetooth, USB, etc.)
Pros: Simple to hook up and use and switch from all sources.
Cons: does not dim with light control. would be nice if it could dim with the light controls.
Had all the features I wanted, easy to install, pretty intuitive. Very easy to switch between inputs (bluetooth, USB, etc.). Only thing I haven't figured out yet is radio station presets and how to get to the HD stations. Probably will figure that out in all of 30 secs once I actually take a minute before driving off to wherever.
Pros: easy install, easy to switch from one source to another, looks good.
Cons: Slightly difficult to navigate radio stations, but I mean, what would you expect from a 1-DIN.
Lives up to alpine quality in sound n bell's n whistle .
Pros: Easy installation and one of the best for the price
Cons: None at this time, just installed
Man this thing continues amaze me. If your on the edge you need to buy it now
A VERY NICE RECEIVER w/LOADS of Features!! IMPRESSIVE!
Pros: All the Features, it is Loaded!
Cons: I'm Not Very Tech savy! But that's ME!
My second Alpine head unit. My first lasted me 15 years and was still going but didn't have all the new features of today. My only problem with this receiver is the way it automatically starts up with my music as soon as you turn it on. Very annoying.
Pros: Alpine quality. Flexible tunning options.
Cons: Bluetooth auto music startup.
I was in the market for a new head unit so I could enjoy my commute and add some much needed features to my car stereo like hands-free phone calls, Bluetooth connectivity, and Pandora while still having a CD player. I wanted a head unit that did not look gaudy, but had good EQ options. I chatted with a least three different Crutchfield advisors and narrowed it down to this unit. I have been using it for about one month and overall am pleased with the unit. I'm hoping for a firmware release from Alpine to even out the AM/FM tuner volume discrepancy. Also, not all TuneIt options area available on this unit. I would buy Alpine again, but would also shop around.
Pros: Once the unit was installed and tuned, the sound was very good. The 9-channel EQ is nice when accessed through the TuneIt app. There are a few minor EQ adjustment options for each source. The different input options are good. I really like the Pandora control of my Android phone. The built quality is good. The look of the unit is nice and clean/functional although it is a bit bright even when the auto dimmer is enabled (I suppose this means that the display does not wash out like other units).
Cons: The Bluetooth phone calls are a bit noisy according to people I have called. I have had to re-"pair" my smartphone once already reset the Bluetooth connection (head unit would show a connection to the phone even when the phone was not connected) - so far so good. The 9-channel EQ applies to all the input sources so some compromise is required to get generally good sound from every source. There is only one button to cycle through the input sources (6). The AM tuner is much louder than the FM.
Nice deck for my truck, bought it to replace a CDE-BT143 which replaced a CDA-9886 and before that a CDA-9856. I do find the sound to be nice and clear through Alpine SPR-60C components and SPR-68 6X8's, specifically the midrange and highs. I also have a KTP-445A that I easily hid In the dash that definitely helps with clarity at higher volume. The available timing control and crossovers come in handy as the KTP doesn't have its own and timing correction is necessary for excellent sound at least from the drivers seat. The controls and menus take a little time to learn but what deck has exactly the same menu and button layout as your previous one? Build quality is ok I guess, not many things IMO are built the way they were 10 years ago. I haven't finished my sub box but that will be the last addition and Alpine's subwoofer controls have been an extra I like having. Also for me the rear USB input wasn't a problem because the extension cable provided more than enough extra length to route it through the dash easily. The Bluetooth function works fine, tried it with a 5th gen IPod, iPhones 4s and 6s, a Samsung 6edge, and an iPad.
Pros: USB port isn't positioned to leave your flash drive or phone cable etc sticking out of the front of the unit where it can be snagged or bumped into. Different color displays?
Cons: That 9 band parametric EQ is great but for an OCD person like me you will be touching it all too much trying to find the "perfect" setting haha
I am happy with this product overall. I have yet to test it with an amplifier and subwooer.
Works great so far
Pros: Syncs with Bluetooth automatically when I turn on the truck, my Ford factory stereo did not
Cons: Nothing as of yet
Love the stereo, tuneit app is useless. Tried for over a week to create an account and keep getting the same, this is taking longer than usual try again. No matter how many times I've tried it's the same thing.
Radio works great and got all the features to work. Can be easily seen when in direct sunlight unlike the kenwoods.
I like the HD radio, bluetooth connectivity, external microphone, USB. It works great and sounds a lot better than the factory unit.
Pros: Good sound, the featured I was looking for.
Cons: Many of the control buttons are pretty small. It looks better than most aftermarket units but still a bit busy.
This is an excellent unit that has been flawless in operation and has great sound
Pros: Great looks, sound quality and Bluetooth connectivity. Pandora connects without issue on Samsung Galaxy s4
Cons: None that i have yet found
Pandora control works very well on this unit
Holy cow a 50+ page Instruction booklet. I've not yet printed the darn thing out and sadly I'm a paper reader guy. The Alpine CDE-148 is a wonderful head unit. I've had six previous Alpine units over the years in both my wife's car and my truck and all have been fantastic. Sound adjustment are a bit complex but with time even I can master them. If I tune into my favorite start up, Terrapin Station by the Dead, the quality sound can still send me to a favorite space. My only negative factor is that this unit won't drive me home.
Cons: Complex sound adjustment for this older gentleman.
With the help of tech support, installation was simple. The sound quality is perfect for my Volvo sedan. I'm still learning the nuances of the receiver, and unfortunately, this means several trips to my desktop computer to go through the manual via the CD-Rom. One disappointment is that the AM reception sucks. I've retraced my steps to make sure I didn't miss anything, and still have virtually no AM reception.
Pros: Attractive display, illuminates nicely in my dash, sound quality is excellent, BT Audio is crisp, SiriusXm comes in flawlessly
Cons: Manual on Cd-Rom is a pain, poor Am radio reception
Does everything that I need. Love the BT and HD radio. I find the controls intuitive and only needed to use the manual for a couple of adjustments. I would recommend this product to everyone.
Pros: Bluetooth and HD radio.
Cons: A little bit of a stretch here, but I wish the volume knob was larger.
Great system overall. Huge sound improvement - even with factory speakers.
Pros: Plenty of preset sound options. If you like tweeking your music just right. Instead of a Low Mid and High setting. You get 9 frequencies to set - to get it just right.
Cons: Control panel / buttons, can be adjusted in one of 4 different colors, but the display panel cannot be changed, stays a light blue. So a gave it a coolness factor of 3 stars. Otherwise everything is great - you buy Alpine for the sound.
Brought my 2001 Silverado out of the last decade and into modern tech. Looks like it was made to fit. Sound is dramatically improved. Install was down to the location of screws accurate with the supplied instructions.
Awsome stereo best sound quality ever
Pros: Sound defenition makes my bad sound system sound good
I broke down and decided to buy an aftermarket head unit because I wanted Bluetooth, HD radio, Pandora control, and the ability to answer/make phone calls via the radio. Alpine has always served me well and I had a variant of this model in my old truck. This stereo has all of the makings of a perfect unit that does not come with navigation. It does everything that the higher priced models can with 4 volt preamp outputs for all 3 channels that I needed. So far, I like the functionality of the radio, but it does take some slight reading to get through it all. I would recommend this radio to anyone wanting the options that I was looking for. I can even add Sat for $50, but I don't like paying a subscription at the moment, so I did not opt for the kit at this time. For the price, this is the perfect DIM unit, take care.
Pros: Great looks, wonderful colors, and amazing capabilities/options for upgrades and utilization. You can customize nearly everything through this unit.
Cons: It is tricky to set up and you must set the EQs for each source (i.e. HD Tuner, Pandora, Bluetooth, etc...).
I am pleased with the radio. The sound is good with factory speakers. My main complaint is that the display will not show the current station, only FM1, etc.
Alpine has hit it out of the park in my opinion with this system. For me it is the right combination of price, features and performance. The Alpine brand has always been a leader in sound and build quality so I felt safe ranking them high in my selection criteria. The feature set is what finally sold me. I wanted a system with Bluetooth capability for hands free calling and audio playback from my smart phone...which is a Samsung S4 not an iPhone which all the brands feel compelled to market too. In addition, I wanted an external microphone option for enhanced clarity during my car conversations. The Bluetooth audio is fantastic, I stream from Rhapsody and the Alpine handles it flawlessly while even displaying the Artist, Song current being played. The same is true for my USB drive content. You can choose the song details you want to display. I will admit, the two line display and the user interface to alter some of the functions can be a bit nested and cumbersome but I new that in a single DIN system this would be unavoidable. That is why I rank the Ease of Use criteria lowest due to the single DIN design, not what Alpine has done. Phone calls are handled effortless with the Alpine fading out the music to allow voice interaction with my phone. It works great! I am very satisfied with this system. If you are looking for the ultimate visual experience this is not the deck for you but if great features and performance is what you are looking for, here you go.
Pros: Features, Sound Quality
Cons: Nested Menus of a single DIN system
Wanted a new system to work with my phone as the factory radio in my 2006 Wrangler Rubicon was starting to have problems. This unit wasn't plastic y or cheap looking like a kid's toy like some head units and the Alpine name is generally respected. As for the performance, I needed the best output capability I could find in a receiver as I could not add an external amp without extensive rewiring and changes. This thing delivered in spades and exceeded my expectations for a replacement. The Bluetooth works flawlessly with my Android phone. It gets louder and sounds way better than the factory unit. I was torn between HD and regular radio and I extremely happy that I got the HD. Controls are not bad and most are intuitive but nothing is perfect. I compared different models of Alpine and other brands and this had everything I was or might be interested in. there may have been some other similar features on the other units but the main thing that sold me on this one was the firsthand knowledge and confidence in the superior build quality of this unit by the Crutchfield technician when I asked how this compared to others not costing as much.
Pros: Attractive color changing front, fit was decent, sound quality, power, features including excellent Bluetooth
Solid unit, looks classy and everything works great. The CD's don't skip, the USB works with flash drives, the bluetooth interfaced with my Galaxy S4 simply.
Pros: Crutchfield provided all the correct mounting accessories and instructions for my 2004 Dodge Stratus, installing was simple. You'll need some wire-to-wire crimp connects. Kit w/ pocket Item #: 120996504, Wire Harness Item #: 120706502, Antenna Adaptor Item #: 12040CR10
Cons: I can't find the equalizer settings I thought it had, just the sub, bass, treble. I wish selecting a source was faster, you have to cycle through all the inputs (radio, disc, usb, pandora, ...) whether its available or not.Crutchfield response on August 26, 2014 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Nice unit, great sound, lots of options easy install
Pros: programmable active crossover,9 band parametric eq. siriusxm ready with presets.adjustable level control for each input. plug and play for siriusxm and 445a power pack
Really Nice! Great sound, versatile, easy installation with the kit supplied by Crutchfield.
Pros: Visually this is a very attactive face plate so it sounds great and looks good.
Cons: The directions have a couple of "holes" in it but after talking to the folks at tech. services everything went smooth.
Good solid radio with awesome features. It falls flat when it comes to bass, you either need to add a subwoofer or Apline needs to add a bass boost for a bit more punch
Pros: Love the Bluetooth and the idea of making custom tunings for your car.
Cons: TuneIt takes a while to figure out, and its lacking bass punch. This stereo would be awesome with a bass boost.
Great unit for my car. This replaced a factory unit and I couldn't be happier. Sounds 100% better and the bluetooth/hands free calling works perfect with my android phone. Easy install thanks to Crutchfield's install sheet and customer service. I also bought the alpine power pack amp and it was a plug and play install and fit easily behind the dash and it really made the unit come to life.
Pros: Bluetooth, hands free calling, sound quality, HD radio...all easy to use and very nice features...
Cons: Wish the instruction manual from alpine came printed instead of being on a cd for your computer...
Had this unit for a month now, works great, sound great,Install it myself in my 96 yukon, didn't have room 4 a big face unit so I went with the hd 148 love it.have a 10in sub an alpine 61/2 in doors. An the USB makes it sound crazy clear, man!! listen lol.can't wait to hit the road when I go fishing an down south Labor Day week! I can't wait till I go to work an play something.Alpine Cde hd 148 thks love this unit.
Pros: Great unit
Cons: Nothing bad about this unit
My first new car radio self-install in 20+ years. It went very smoothly with excellent help from the Crutchfield technical team. The radio looks and sounds great and is a major upgrade to our 2004 4Runner!
Pros: Ease of install, connectivity options, iPhone and Siri integration, hands-free calling, and sound quality
Cons: Nothing major. A good value, especially for an older car.
Nicely made. Substantial. Has the look and feel (buttons) of a quality unit. I wanted to keep my factory BMW (1986) radio, but it finally died. I'm fussy about quality. I wanted something that would look and perform just as good if not better. And have all the new capabilities. I'll make no apologies for this unit. Even with the old speakers it sounds great.
Pros: Fully adjustable sound. Not much bling.
I have had this receiver for almost a year now. It is an overall great product. The only feature I have ever really used is the bluetooth. I get in my car and start it up, and the receiver links to the iPhone 5 in my pocket right away and I can control the music and the phone straight from the deck. There is only one problem. After almost a year of use, the bluetooth doesn't work anymore. The receiver won't pair with anything. I have tried resetting, and I have followed all directions and I can't get it to work. I won't bother trying to fix it. I don't plan on putting any more money into my current vehicle. I plan on getting a new one. Everything else about the deck is great. This will probably be my last Alpine deck. I have had two previous Alpine decks and they were all great. I just think it's time for something different.
Once again Alpine has blown me away with another high quality head unit!!! I have been running Alpine head units for about 14 years now, and every time I upgrade, I am just blown away and speechless!!! Feature packed awesomeness!!! Controls everything right from the head unit. It literally does everything anyone could ever want!!! I tested the head unit powering my upgraded speakers, sounded amazing. Now I am running JBL amp, and MTX Thunder 8000 12" sub, and this deck lets me adjust anything and everything on the fly as I see fit, I couldn't ask for anything more!!!
Pros: Awesome features, controls every aspect of your system right at your fingertips, the sound quality is second to NONE!!! Color changing face :-D , easy installation, usb and aux hookups, 4 volt preouts for amp installs!!! LOVE IT!!!
Cons: as amazing as this unit is, I often find it to be a bit time consuming to navigate through all of the features, that is one thing I wish they would have added easy buttons for.
Recently installed this stereo in my 02' Accord. I was looking for a stereo with iPod connectivity, and Bluetooth. This unit exceeded my expectations. Its a great all around receiver, plus it comes with HD Radio which makes listening to the radio so much better. I also am impressed by how great the hand-free calling feature works. I haven't had anyone complain about the phone breaking up while using the hands-free feature. The unit's sound output is much better than my stock stereo and I haven't even configured the Tuneit feature yet. With that said, I'm sure the Tuneit feature will make it sound even better.
Pros: Overall, this is a nice higher end receiver that allows for easy upgrades such as adding an amplifier. I haven't yet added an amp, but can't wait to hear the sound improvement. Especially since this receiver has 3 sets of pre-amp outputs pushing 4V each.
Cons: Some of the menus are a little confusing at first. Had to print out the instruction manual included on CD. It doesn't take long to get the hang of it, but once you do you'll realize how easy it is to use.
Works and sounds great but now I want better speakers for it. =D Crutchfield will score more money from me soon. =)
Pros: Makes going to work every day much better.
Great raido great sound would recommend
Pros: good features, easy to use, sound is great
Great value and performance for the price
Great head unit, very easy to install. Very impressed with Crutchfield. Will order other electronics from them again.
Pros: Bluetooth, Pandora, Ipod with great sound and easy to use.
Had this head unit installed for a couple weeks now. Lots of hidden features/settings, but I can't bothered to read the manual, so I discover them on my own as I go. Sound quality is excellent. Very happy with my purchase.
Pros: Sound quality, price, iPod/iPhone control.
Cons: Occasionally while searching for a new album the unit will display "updating" which in turn makes me have to start the search all over. Slight annoyance, still a great piece of equipment.
upgrade my Highlander stock HU this reciever gave me extra ordinary sound & power!
Easy to install into a 2004 (New Body) F-150. Mating the wiring harness tails took the longest. Insertion was less than a half hour. Unit sounds great as is by just feeding the audio to the stock speakers (at least for now). Crutchfield service is excellent!
Pros: Simple to install. Sound quality very good. All the pieces supplied by Crutchfield were perfect. Display visibility is good, digital FM sounds solid. Interface to my iPhone 4S through Bluetooth also sounds great.
Cons: No clock while the unit is on. Instructions take some time to wade through.
I am a professional musician and composer. Sound is my job, and my passion. I replaced an old Alpine unit that was starting feel its age, and the Alpine CDE-HD148BT is just what I wanted. The HD radio is Outstanding- really like listening to a CD. And the CD player is great, too- holds onto the sound even on really bumpy roads. Easy BlueTooth linkup with my phone. I'm getting another Alpine CDE-HD148BT for my wife's car. Crutchfield Customer Service ROCKS...
Pros: All of the features.
Cons: I wish the Green color choice for the display was slightly more Blue/Green- Oh Well...
A replacement HU for a Jeep JK Unlimited. Installs easily with the enclosed Crutchfield documents Direct device interface controls make operation simple. HD radio is definitely a plus. Alpine sound quality is exceptional as expected. Take some time to read the owners manual, as there are many features and settings which will assist in the ability to customize sound parameters for each individual vehicle application. Overall a great value, combine this with Crutchfields customer support, and you will not be disappointed.
Pros: sound quality, easy install and set up. Multiple interface applications.
Cons: BT sound quality on iPhone could be better.
I purchased this radio thinking it was an upgrade. I was looking for HD Radio features, this one has it and as a bonus Pandora and Bluetooth. HD Radio is great, however the text display should list artist and then song, this displays station and artist, click view button and song and genre. Now BT, maybe I have a bad unit but I don't like it. BT connected first time and went to Pandora on my HTC One and it played thru car speakers, now, I'm using the BT source on the HU. Stopped working after I turned off HU and on again, should connect automatically but didn't. Had to force connect, didn't work, turn off/on BT on both devices, didn't work. Delete device from HU and phone and pair again, just to work for couple minutes and lose sound again, that was BT Mode on HU. The HU has Pandora as a source and that didn't work at all. I'm thinking its my HTC One, tried my wife's iPhone 5 and same scenario, worked initial time but after power cycle HU, same problem. USB function, that is ok if you use flash drive, but HTC One charges battery and plays locally stored files. iPhone charges also and plays locally stored songs but no Pandora control on either cell phones. Hands-Free is cool when BT is working, was able to hide microphone behind dash for a clean look. So I don't know if the HU is defective, marketing lies or bad cell phones.
Pros: HD Radio sounds great, 6 preouts, came with microphone and USB ext . Lights are changeable
Cons: Bluetooth. No Pandora control thru USB, as advertised. HD Radio text.
This unit really improved the sound quality of our Sorrento. The basic functions of the unit are easy to use and I love the old time radio station push buttons. On the head unit in my truck I hate having to scroll up and down to change stations. We're still learning about all of the other features.
Pros: Easy to set up for basic use.
Cons: A DVD for the manual... really??? It's kind of a pain to have to go in the house to read the manual and then back out to the car to set a function.
This unit is a great value in terms of bluetooth functionality for media streaming from your phone, handsfree calling using the microphone and overall stereo audio quality. Would definitely recommend.
Pros: Great sound. Excellent call quality wtih the bluetooth handsfree calling feature. People I'm on the phone with often ask me if I'm at home while I'm talking going down the highway.
Cons: It's a small nit, but the options on displaying the clock are not greatest. For example your only option for the clock is to have a small display at the bottom of the display. The manual is not that good.
I bought this stereo for my wife. Works great. She praised it the first couple of days while figuring out how to use it. Got a couple of questions from her that I helped her out on. But most important of all, she is no longer complaining about the Jensen that was in the vehicle when we bought it.
Pros: Makes my wife happy. No more complaining.
Cons: I had to look some stuff up in the manual, She was not going to do it.
We are very happy with the Alpine quality, the sound is great. However I purchased this for my dad to use with his cell phone to comply with the new cell phone laws. The connection will not work, his phone connected 2 times and will not connect again & so far no solution. Very excellent customer service as always at Crutchfield!
Pros: Excellent sound quality Nice looking Easy to install
Cons: Will not work with dads Bluetooth cell phone
I am very impressed with the Alpine 148-BT head unit. I had an Alpine head unit in my previous vehicle, however it was 10 years old so I did not remove it when I sold it. In the new truck (new to me), one of the first things I missed was listening to my iPod in the car. I really enjoy the line in controls for the iPod that lets me choose whether to control the iPod with the head unit or via the iPod. With the digital line in the sound quality is excellent. I am really amazed at the better sound I am able to get out of the stock speakers. One of the main reasons I purchased this particular unit is for the Bluetooth connectivity and the ability to receive SiriusXM radio (with an additional part SXV200 v1)). The hands-free integration with my old iPhone 4 is flawless and have been told the sound quality is better than using the phone by itself. In the near future I plan to replace the factory speakers with a set of Alpine SPR-68's and also install Dynamat sound deadening to my doors. I would also like to add the SiriusXM connection. I gave four stars for value because Crutchfield charges more for the product, however I have purchased from Crutchfield before and appreciated the "extras" to help with installation. While I received all of the necessary parts, the installation instructions were not as thorough as before and I had to watch a few YouTube videos (not from Crutchfield) to help with the install. I highly recommend this head unit I installed in my 2000 Ford F-150 XLT
Pros: Great sound. Flexible options (connectivity and colors). Easy to navigate.
Cons: Installation instructions/guides were not as thorough as I have received from Crutchfield in the past.
Great head sounds very good very powerful. The 18w this head puts out are big strong watts. The display is a bit plain but the ability to change the color to match your gauge display is nice. Having the song info from hd stations is a great plus. The controls are not that hard to use but could be a little more intuitive. Over all this has been a very nice upgrade to my car and would recommend this product to friends and family.
Pros: sounds awesome: front, rear and sub rca jacks
Just so you all know i have always always used pioneer HU's. But this unit is awesome. many many features available. you can place 2 amps a 4 channel and mono. great sub and eq controls. not a high end but does wonders for low to medium range car audio guys.
Pros: 3 sets amp outs, multiple colors, lots of features
Lots of adjustments to fine tune. Added plug in Alpine amp works great!
Pros: If you like adjustments this has them all.
Cons: Could be a little much for some.
Awesome head unit, but a little too complex. After having in my car for nearly three weeks, i'm still trying to figure out some of the features. Tried out the Alpine Tune it app and seems to make a difference. Will be playing with it some more.
Pros: Build and sound quality. Value. and a fantastic retailer in Crutchfield.
Cons: The illumination dimmer feature doesn't work as i expected. only dims the unit marginally and is not further dimmed by the dash lights dimmer.
I never write reviews. But after talking with advisor Jackson at Crutchfield about a replacement for my kenworth semi truck, I had to write a review about this receiver. Although I was leaning toward Kenwood, Advisor recommended the Alpine cde hd148bt. This is the most awesome receiver I have ever purchased. After installing it with factory speakers, it sounded like I replaced the speakers also. Great receiver. You will not regret purchasing this radio. Oh I almost forgot to mention this. In the past I made alot of my purchases from another retailer and you may not find the cheapest price at Crutchfield, but you will not find better customer service, or help when you are not sure which product is best for you. And the advice you will get from Crutchfield is advice you will not receive anywhere else.
Pros: Tune it app, Sound, Easy to use. And the display is easy to read during the day unlike some other brands
This head unit replaces an older ALPINE I installed 14 years ago and it was pretty much PLUG N PLAY! The Bluetooth is a great add-on to have hands free in my truck as is the support for USB audio, just add your favorite songs to a thumb drive and put it on MIX or play the music in the folder you select! The unit has a bright screen and easy to see, but I think they could do a better job of the menu system on the unit! I also added the ALPINE remote control and it too was easy to use, but wish it was smaller like the one with the UNIT it replaces. Overall a great CD RECEIVER.
Pros: Easy to see and great sound!
Cons: Setup menu could be better!
Versatile equalization combined with quality Alpine sound and the Tuneit App allowed me to successfully fine tune the sound in my RAV4 with only factory speakers. HD radio reception is spotty in my area but sounds great when available. This is a reasonably priced package that meets most of my needs. Wish same features were available in a DVD receiver.....
Pros: Great sound and versatile equalization. Bluetooth works well. HD radio sounds good.
Cons: HD radio reception spotty. Wish same features (Tuneit/Equalization) were available in a DVD/GPS package.
I purchased this head unit to replace the factory bose unit in my 2004 Tahoe. Let me tell you. It doesn't sound like I replaced just the deck, It sounds like I replaced the entire system. What alpine has done to ingrate the new Technology to easily adapt into your already existing system and have this much impact is absolutely amazing! I would buy it again in a heartbeat!
Pros: Blue tooth, IPhone app to run the EQ, massive expandability, didn't even need to add a separate sub, this deck rocks the factory one just fine.
Cons: Do not have any!
This is my third Alpine HU and as expected, the quality is top notch, performance is excellent, and value un-matched. Read the manual and you will find all the functions easy to navigate and very intuitive.
Pros: You get what you pay for in HU, and Alpine delivers beyond its promises.
Cons: Haven't been able to find one.
Installed in a 2000 Honda civic great unit at a great price
Pros: Nice features Easy to use fits great
Cons: so far none yet
This is a great little unit for the price. Would like to see Alpine include HD radio tuner standard in a lower priced unit. Easy to install, sounds real nice with upgraded speakers in front doors.
Pros: Crutchfield installation instructions were right on.
Cons: Boxed real poorly by Crutchfield. Looked like an accordian when I received it, but Alpine has some serious industrial strength bubble wrap, so actual unit wasn't harmed.
This is my third Alpine head unit and they have all been great. Very well made and sounds great in my Silverado standard cab. Works perfect with IPhone 4S.
Amazing sound compared to my factory unit, made an amazing improvement to the quality of sound
Pros: Easy installation with Crutchfield's kit, enough power to push my JL's, iPhone 5 comparability is awesome
Cons: None discovered yet
Great sound compared to stock radio. Easy to install, Many functions to play with.
Pros: Many functions including Blur Tooth, HD Radio, IPhone/IPod compatible ect...
I Only replaced the head unit sound is ok not bad not great Steering wheel controls worked good
Pros: Wiring harness was nice
Cons: Stereo is in Ex wife's car
Very good product. Great sound quality, I replaced a factory and the difference is way more than I expected. It sounds great and the bluetooth capability is great to play my music from my IPhone.
A nice little unit. Installation was simple, once I found out the trick for installing to an existing Infinity sound system (connect the blue striped wire, instead of the solid blue wire, to the solid blue on the harness!). I also bought an add-on SiriusXm receiver, which hooked up nicely and gave me a lot of sound options. Everything- HD radio, satellite radio, USB music player - works off the headunit, so there's not a lot of fumbling for the right control while driving. Altogether, it has a nice, clean sound. I initially bought it because of the customizable sound options, but I haven't really needed to do much tweaking to get it to sound good. Huge improvement over the stock system!
Pros: Nice, clean sound, simple to use. Works well with my Android and my Sansa Fuze.
Cons: Difficult to set up once installed. A color text display would have been nice. The Android equalizer app requires registration to save any sound customization.
Nice replacement for my old alpine CDA-9887 larger buttons and quicker to use nice purchase
Pros: Charging for Ipod
Cons: No front USB would be nice for quick changing flash drives
I bought this unit to replace my old Alpine CDE-133BT, and before that my antiquated Alpine iDA-X305S. Lighting color is ok, but should include a customize able hue through the dial, not just the pre-selected colors. HD radio function seems to jump a lot, just to obtain reception through different frequencies. Radio & bluetooth settings are somewhat confusing to establish, but achievable. For a 2013 product the display could have been modernized like the one in the 149BT or similar to the iDA-X305. When selecting through the "Source" button, there are too many unnecessary selections, even if they were disabled through the general setting they would still appear, this unit should have some kind of smart filter to only show what is actively connected to the unit (for me its just iPod, tuner, & CD). Even with the TuneIt App, this unit is not putting out enough bass (I have Alpine SPR-69s in my car) at lower volumes, my CDE-133BT did better in this area, in fact there's a little bit too much mids/highs. Just to feel the bass I have to crank-up the volume to annoying levels. When viewing phone contacts (iPhone) it will be displayed by first name, even though the phone is set to display by last name first, 133BT displayed as it is with the phone. However I do like the construction, it feels more durable than the 133BT, and doesn't require extra wires and hardware just to have bluetooth like the X305S. All the buttons doesn't have that slushy-crunchy feel to it. Responsive commands.
Pros: Rear mounted USB for a clean console. Built-in Bluetooth. Durable feel. Responsive to command inputs, not sluggish.
Cons: Sound quality is disappointing even with Tune It App, compared to my old Alpine CDE-133BT. Built-in Mid range selector is gone. More modern display similar to HD149BT & iDA-X305S (come on, its 2013, use LEDs).
Works great with iphone 5
Awesome stereo, has everything I wanted.
Pros: Great looks, great sound, cool features, easy installation.
Cons: No front USB. Has a USB cord that plugs in back of unit. So you have a cord dangling out of your dash that is unsightly.
Great sound out of the box and nice features. Some of the duel purpose buttons and menus are confusing. Looks great and sounds great through all inputs. Tuning radio stations little confusing but sound great. Display mode with song and time would be nice. Not impressed with Tunit app so far but happy with the radio.
Pros: features, sound, sleek
Cons: Confusing menus and duel purpose buttons, time display
Truly an amazing head unit with enough bells and whistles for anybody, from the occasional listener to the advanced sound junky. I love it
Pros: Great sound, hands free calling, sound set up feature, ease of use, looks
Cons: none so far
This is a great stereo. I usually use pioneer products but actually found the alpine to be easier to use. With the little ktp 445 power pack, the sound is stellar. Overall, I am well pleased with the purchase.
Pros: great sound, ipod connectivity, easy to use
Cons: remote not included
Smoking great unit. Lot of features and huge power. Can take awhile to tune just the way you like it but well worth in the end.
Pros: Great power Typical Alpine quality. Looks cool.
Cons: Take time to go threw all the features.
My primary need was to replace the Honda (S2000) OEM item to get Bluetooth , SXM 2.0 and better sound quality. In the process I also got Pandora and better connectivity options. I was hoping that the unit would have sufficient power output for such a small interior, but I ended up adding the companion amp from Alpine (KTP-445A). What a transformation! Best mic location is on top of the steering column in front of the instrument panel, not the traditional upper left corner of the windshield. Too much noise from that location with the top down on this convertible. Fortunately the sound suited me with all the default settings as I could NOT get Tune-it to work. Also the AXXESS ASWC-1 fails to control MUTE. Bluetooth pairing was terrible, until I realized that there was something wrong with the original unit. Crutchfield replaced it quickly and without question. Pairs with an iPhone 5 in 10 seconds and the pairing survives power cycling. Purchased an after-market 3-way USB short cable for 8-pin Lightning, 30-pin iPod and mini-USB. Now I have everything I needed. Changed stock speakers for FOCAL PS-165 components. You really need to spend at least as much on quality speakers as the HU to truly get the full benefit of this great HU and amp combo.
Pros: Straightforward install with the SXM module and companion external amp easy to hide behind the dashboard.
Cons: Setup not really intuitive, but read the manual thoroughly and you are good. It's all there. Minor controls are difficult to deal with on the move (too small) so I set up my favorite couple of stations on the first preset of each band selection, because cycling through with the remote control is so much easier (and safer).
It's a great unit
Pros: Good sound quality
This Alpine is very nice. I installed it with a medium value small 5 channel amp. It sounds decent and has the connections I required for car audio. The manufacturer took time to build the unit, it seems to be made of sturdy and not flimsy material. It can be a little time consuming to move between speaker levels and balance/fade. Alghough it sounds great to me I had to use an amp to get the level and sound stage I was looking for. There are plenty of hookups in the back of the head unit. I was able to plug all channels from the head unti in the receiving end of the amp with rca jacks which was very nice, altogether there were 3 sets. It recieves updated versions of media, firmware can be updated, has different colors, you can control speaker volume/balance/fade, and it also charges devices with the usb. I would definitely purchase this unit again if I know now what I did when I purchased it.
Pros: Lots of types of media input available, HD radio, xm/serious radio available
Cons: time consuming button configuration
I really enjoy the upgraded head unit, even if it is connected to my stock amp. The sound quality really is better than stock. My biggest complaint is the fact that my subwoofer amp is not receiving a strong enough signal from the head unit. Not sure why, but Crutchfield is sending me a new one. So hopefully it was just a faulty unit. I preferred the way the stock units buttons were. These feel a little flimsy. Cant get it to sync with my Android's Pandora and am having difficulty using the TuneIt app. Maybe its just my phone, not sure. These issues are not enough to not buy the unit and I see myself getting another Alpine unit in the future for my other vehicles.
Pros: Awesome sound right out of the box A lot of sound adjustability Generally easy to control and navigate through menus and control other devices.
Cons: Button feel Unable to control all phones with Pandora and TuneIt No signal from hu to amp...hopefully it was just faulty
Its ok. Liked my dual better.
Pros: Liked the mic. Can put just about anywhere.
Cons: Not user friendly. To much distance between aux and radio selection. Sound quality average. Software needs drastic improvement for blue tooth hand's free. Hangs up to soon and unless u r dead stopped and engine off it can't understand u. It also cant figure out or decern between similar names or multiple entries.
There are so many features that this receiver should fit the needs of anyone.
