Alpine's X-Power MRX-F35 4-channel amplifier

Big power for clear sound

The MRX-F35 puts out 55 watts RMS per channel, so you'll have plenty of clean power to fill your listening space with music. You can even use it in 2-channel mode to drive a pair of subs with 170 watts each. Onboard frequency filters let you tailor the output to fit your setup, and a bass boost on the rear channels helps to fatten up the sound.

Alpine reliability

A power management system optimizes the amp's performance and keeps the music playing, even when you're pushing it hot and hard for a long time. Speaker-level inputs with an automatic turn-on feature simplify system hook-up.

A great addition to my system. Replaced an older Infinity 4 channel amp that failed. Nice clean high's and warm Bass, This amp is probably under-rated at 45 watts r.m.s. but this guys not complaining at all. Very pleased!

Pros: Small footprint, cool running, true realistic sound.

Cons: None as yet.

Alpine MRX F35 amp

Djs from Beverly,MA on 11/24/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amp was at great deal for the money. Easy, straight forward install. Had 20 year old Sony 4 x 27W amp. This was a huge improvement. Sound is excellent, brought out much more bass from my 6 x 9 speakers. Only using about 40% of power available from amp before overpowering space in Frontier. No distortion pushing my Kenwood head unit to full power. Was installed under front passenger seat.

Pros: Easy install, clear distortion free power. Small size relative to some other amps.

Cons: None

Fantastic Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amp is amazing. I use it to run four Alpine Type-R 6x8's and they produce great sound. This amp is relatively small so it can fit right under your seat like it's not even there. Alpine never falls short of making spectacular products. I highly recommend this product to anyone that needs a little more power for their speakers.

Pros: Size, design, Alpine Quality that never fails, and the price is just right

Cons: none

Everything i was looking for to push the speakers I wanted. Replaced 4 - 6-1/2" stock speakers with Kicker 40CS654 and this amp, and it sounds ridiculously good sound. Ofcourse that after I rewired to get speakers in Phase - Oh Well!

Pros: Easy to install, plenty of power for what I needed, looks good, and priced right.

Cons: None yet!

Great Amp

Josh from Commifornia on 7/22/2014

Great deal on a great amp. I'm using this to power my front and rear speakers paired with the mdv-500 for my sub and everything sounds phenomenal. Take the time to tune it with a multimeter and you'll be good to go.

Pros: Great price, Great performance, looks clean

Cons: none

DLW from Mansfield, TX on 2/1/2014

I tell you what, I thought the MRV-F300 was a pretty good amp...this F35 DEFINITELY takes things to the next level. I'm powering a set of Boston Acoustics 6.5s and 5.5s, and this amp MORE than handles them. When tuning it, gain all the way down, I was able to dial up my 148BT to it's max, hearing no audible distortion. As it is, I only use about 2/3's of my 148BT's dynamic volume, so I tuned accordingly. This amp immediately showed it's teeth by providing me more power than it's rated 55w comes across as. I also immediately noticed how much heavier this amp was versus my F300. Another profound area of notice was when I went to check my eq settings after having installed this amp; it amplified the music at a much flatter curve than the F300. If you're looking at this amp, it's legit. Now, I've not heard the PDXs; but in the MRX, I'm a believer.

Pros: More powerful than it's rated Size Clarity Quality of build

great so far

Seems great so far. Produces lots of bass. Install is pretty simple. High level inputs don't allow any gain without distortion.

Nice amp

Hands-on research

Product Research

MRX Amplifier Design: Class-D amplifiers boast higher efficiency, produce less heat, and draw less current than traditional Class-AB amps. The MRX series benefits from the technology trickledown from Alpine's more expensive PDX amps, including Direct FET final outputs, thermal management processor, 6-Layer Glass Epoxy PC Board; combining to create a high-end sound quality without the bulky heat sinks required by most amps in this power class.

STAR Topology: Alpine's unique STAR (Signal Transit for Accurate Response) Circuit PCB design provides a single common ground for all amp sub-blocks, preventing ground interference and minimizing internal noise.

Power Management Processor: The multi-stage Power Management Processor continuously monitors component temperatures throughout the amplifier and decreases power output if anything gets too hot. When playing music under heavy loads for long periods, the circuit automatically reduces power output slightly at first, and then further in a second stage if necessary. This two stage approach provides an interruption free listening experience.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The MRX-F35's power ratings are measured according to the Consumer Electronics Association CEA-2006 standards. These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. The power output is measured from 20 Hz to 20 kHz using a 14.4 volt power supply with no more than 0.01% THD+N:

  • 4-ohms: 55 watts RMS x 4
  • 2-ohms: 85 watts RMS x 4
  • 4-ohm bridged: 170 watts RMS x 2

Signal-to-Noise: When measured under CEA-2006 conditions (reference 1 watt into a 4-ohm load) the signal to noise ratio is 87 dBA. Measured at the rated power output S/N is 104 dB.

Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output measured from that specific amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (voltage and impedance).

Auto Turn On: When using the speaker level inputs the X-Power amplifiers automatically turn on when voltage is detected on the signal inputs, making them an easy factory system upgrade.

Low Output Impedance: With low output impedance, the MRX-F35 outputs tightly controlled bass, with a damping Factor rated at greater than 500.

LED: The top panel LED power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on.

Gain: The MRX-F35's gain can be independently set for the front and rear channels. The line-level input gain setting is continuously variable from 200 mV to 4.0V; the speaker-level input gain setting is continuously variable from 500 mV to 10.0V.

Crossovers: The amplifier has independent built-in crossovers for the front and rear channels. They can be set to low-pass or high-pass operation, or off via a three-way switch. The crossover frequency is continuously variable from 50 to 400 Hz and the slope is 12 dB/oct.

Bass EQ: Bass boost for the rear channels is variable from 0 to +12 dB and centered at 50 Hz.

Power/Ground/Remote: The MRX-F35 features set-screw terminals for the Power, Ground and Remote Turn-on inputs. The Power and Ground terminals will accommodate up to 4 gauge wire, while the Remote Turn-on terminal will accept up to 8 gauge wire. Based on the fuse rating and power output, 8 gauge power and ground wires are recommended.

Speaker Output: The speaker output terminals are screw terminals which will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Line Inputs: Line level RCA is the preferred input connection. There are two pairs of RCA line-level inputs. No line output is provided.

Speaker Level Input: Use the included speaker level input harnesses if the connected radio has no preamp outputs.

Fuses: The amp is protected by two chassis-mounted 25-amp ATO fuses.
