Alpine's RUE-4202 wireless remote control offers convenient operation of all 2005-up remote-ready Alpine stereos. The compact remote controls all basic receiver functions, and runs on two "AAA" batteries. You can use it either as an add-on or as a replacement for a lost remote. Warranty: 1 year.
Note: Sorry, Crutchfield cannot ship Alpine products to Guam or Puerto Rico.
Works great, easy to hook up.

Average Customer Review(s):
Works great, easy to hook up.
I have a big truck. I'm tall and having a remote means I don't have to lean and reach out to control the receiver. Works just as you'd expect.
Not very useful, due to it being an IR remote you had to point at the head unit. An RF remote would have been much more useful. I probably will never use it unless I have someone else driving the van.
Pros: Ok if you are not the one driving.
Cons: An IR remote instead of RF. Hard to use while driving due to having to point it at the radio. It won't work while in it's mount on the dash.
works great with the radio
Love it. My second one, easy to use, even without looking at i.
Pros: Small, easy to use
A very basic an easy remote that has just what you need for an Alpine radio, unlike a Kenwood remote.
Pros: Has just the right amount of the correct buttons for a simple remote. Love this remote.
Haven't used much. But so far so good.
Cons: None so far
Great remote for Alpine head. Pop the batteries and Ur in business....
Pros: no set up, work great
This remote is the perfect size for one-handed in-car use. It has all the functions needed in a remote. My Alpine head unit wasn't advertised as 'remote ready'. But I saw the little port on the front of the unit that would receive remote commands. Ordered a remote, and it works! I now have a remote controlled Alpine Radio. I'm glad I got mine. Thanks, -RFB
Pros: Great size. Lots of functions. Long battery life.
Cons: Can't think of any "cons".
Good basic remote. Does what I need it to do; volume, skip, rewind and change stations.
Pros: Right size remote. I like that when I change channels (SiriusXM) it changes channels in numeric order, 6 - 7 - 8 - 9....and not to the next pre-set.
Great product, works great
Pros: Great product, works great
Pros: Fits well in my hand. Easy to use.
Cons: Wish I could control my bluetooth phone controls with the remote.
I purchased a remote, I bought the head unit and it did not come with a remote they tried to sell me a used one for 30.00 instead I went to Crutchfield and ya'll took care of me and I'm a Crutchfield fan. Now I keep my eyes on the road
Pros: Works great *5
Cons: I'm satisfied
Had one of these with my previous Alpine unit. Very handy. Helps to keep my eyes on the road (not looking down).
Pros: As convenient as a remote at home.
Great product in you have alpine this is what you need
If you buy an Alpine stereo and it doesn't have a remote, this is the way to go!
Outstanding product at a great price. Shipping was fast and free. Excellent value!!
Pros: Quality and price
Cons: plastic holder
Exactly as represented and works perfectly with my Alpine receiver!
Works as advertised. It does have to be aimed more/less directly at the radio head unit to work. I'm using it with the Alpine CDE-154BT and while the remote does not control much of what the receiver is capable of doing, it does control all of the basics. All in all I'm perfectly happy with it and IMO it is a bargain for the price.
Pros: As already mentioned.
Cons: As already mentioned.
Paying extra for a remote. Lame
Pros: It works
Cons: Really charged that much for a remote?
I purchased this remote to complement my Alpine CDE-154BT head unit. It allows me to operate most of the functions of my receiver, but there are a few that are inaccessible with the remote. I expected this and it's completely understandable. I'd rather have a simplified remote than one crammed from top to bottom with buttons.
Pros: Easy to use. Works as you'd expect.
I've had Alpine CD Players for years and have really enjoyed them. This remote works on most Alpine CD players and is great. It's simple and easy to use without a lot of extra bells and whistles. I'd recommend this remote to anyone who has an Alpine CD Player
Pros: Easy, simple to use
Remote worked just fine . As I expected. Quick shipping . No worries .
Pros: Worked immediately. Came with batteries.....
Be aware that this is an IR remote, not RF. You must point it directly at the head unit for it to work. There are other remotes (not for Alpine) that use RF, so you can have the remote mounted somewhere in your cockpit and just press the buttons. With this IR remote, you must point it directly at the head unit. Pretty useless, unless you have an RV with the head unit mounted out of reach and you actually couldn't reach it easily.
Cons: IR and not RF
I bought this to go with an Alpine head unit in my car and use it constantly!
Pros: Works perfecty!
This unit works as advertised, what's to like? I've had several Alpine head units since about 2001 and they al worked with this remote. This is the first I buy, the one it replaces fell from the window at a highway... never ever failed
Pros: Sturdy, bult with very good materials. Very comfortable in the hand. Diferent buttons make it easy to use it with out even looking at it.. becomes an extension
Cons: ...can't think of any cons
Works prefect, does exactly what I wanted
Got a bad back and needed a remote to work the volume and change tracks and functions. Works excellent with my alpine 152 bt
Pros: Works well
Works as expected. Fair price. Makes operating the radio safer and easier while driving.
Pros: Can operate radio without taking my eyes off the road.
Works fine with my Alpine CD receiver. It allows me to control the volume as well as the source without having to look away from the road. Very reasonably price. Delivery was also quick.
Pros: Easiest way to control your CD receiver while driving without distraction.
I purchased the remote for my fiancée new Alpine CDE-HD149BT CD Receiver with Bluetooth and HD Radio Built-in. Also that deck is awesome I would definitely would recommend the deck and the remote. Although I do think alpine should give you a remote when you buy a new deck you shouldn't have to purchase one separately but it's only $20.00 at crutchfield and they shipped it for free. I couldn't believe how fast I got it though I ordered the remote late Saturday afternoon on my phone and it was delivered Monday afternoon I couldn't be happier. All in all great overall experience no problems and it's alpine you can't go wrong with there stuff it's the best.
Pros: Great price at crutchfield and supper fast shipping also there customer service was awesome and there located in The good ole USA and that's well worth giving crutchfield your business.
Cons: Alpine should give you a new remote with a new CD player purchase.
Makes life easier. Works perfectly.
Controls power, volume, and tracks. Can't adjust sound or source.
Pros: I installed system in a boat, a remote is a must have since the reciever is out of reach from the helm.
Cons: Must be pointed directly at the receiver, a little off and nothing happens. Can't select sources, can't adjust sound, only volume.
This is a handy little remote. It should come standard with Alpine's radios, especially the higher end units. Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer and most others include one and that almost steered me to a Kenwood. I bought one of these remotes to swap between my CDE-HD149BT in my truck and the CDE-W235BT in a Van. Comes with a mounting bracket but I didn't use it. Good price but again, should come with the radios! Great service by Crutchfield. Shipped super fast!!
Pros: Nice, handy and easy to use. No programming required so I could use it with two different Alpine units without any problems.
Cons: None with the unit but it should come standard when you buy a new Alpine car stereo.
I was hesitant to pay extra for the remote when I bought the Alpine head unit based on my experience with the remote from the Kenwood deck I was replacing. The Kenwood remote was hit or miss, mostly miss, with performing the desired action. In addition the ridge around the buttons would irritate your thumb while you would be trying to press the button various ways to get it to work. The Alpine however is very responsive. I have not had it ignore any commands yet. There is also no finger discomfort when pressing the buttons. A much better layout than the Kenwood.
Pros: Works. No discomfort. Good layout
Cons: None so far
Worked immediately with out having to program it.
Pros: Perfect size easy to use.
Cons: There is no problems
This remote control does the basics, volume control, forward and backward song selections.
Pros: Head Unit immediately responded to R/C.
Cons: Holding clip does not hold R/C as securely as it should.
I was going to give in to buying the $50 remote but I have to realize all I wanted from the remote was the basic functionalities. It's light and comes with a clip to hold the remote. The clip has double sided sticky foam to place it in the car and also has 4 holes in the corners if you want to screw it down to the car. Unfortunately it doesn't come with the small screws to do so. I didn't even need to sync or anything. Worked as soon as the batteries went in. Great remote.
Pros: small, light, works right away.
Cons: no little screws for the clip.
Easy to use and convenient. It really does help keep your eyes on the road.
Pros: Very user friendly. Makes operating my Alpine radio a breeze.
Cons: You really have to aim the remote to the radio, but maybe I'm just being picky.
Great product! EXCELLENT service as always!
Pros: Everything works as should ON INE-927HD
BOUGHT FOR AN OLDER ALPINE HEAD UNIT--CDA-9833-- THAT CAME FROM CRUTCHFIELD MANY YEARS AGO----AFTER TALKING TO SALES REP I WANTED TO TRY IT EVEN THOUGH MY HEAD UNIT WASN'T ON THE LIST THAT THE REMOTE WORKS----IT WORKS GREAT---ALL BUTTONS FUNCTION THE WAY THEY SHOULD---VERY EASY TO USE
Pros: VERY EASY TO USE----STRONG SIGNAL---CAN CONTROL FROM ANYWHERE IN CAR INCLUDING BACK SEAT--- POPULAR BUTTONS ARE GROUPED TOGETHER
I love the remote and use it all the time but it took three to get a working one. Glad the third one worked or I would have been convinced it was my head unit (alpine HD149BT).
Pros: Does everything a remote should do.
Cons: The first two I got were DOA.
Pros: worked right off the bat. Put in supplied batteries and it worked. no syncing or programing.
Cons: could be a little bigger.
This remote works great. It has all the buttons I need to control my Alpine CDA-143BT. It also works with two other older Alpine headunits that I have installed in my other vehicles. One is over six years old. Great product, very useful.
Pros: Not over crowded with buttons. Just the right size for car use. Range is great.
The Product does everything I wanted it to do. It also did something I didn't expect it to do which was stream music from an iPhone via Bluetooth. I just with they would come up with better displays They haven't advanced much in the past 15 years.
Pros: Great product works excellent with the iPhone
Cons: Old display no new innovation
No more reaching half way across my truck to adjust volume or change stations.
Pros: Does all i need it to do. Mounting bracket keeps remote within easy reach.
Works good enough for the price. Not a bad product.
Pros: Easy to use. Velcro case for storage was a good touch. Good product for the price
Cons: Doesn't change channels between my pre set channels.
Great add-on to the replacement head unit I installed in my Truck. Great way to keep your hands OFF the stereo and eyes on the road!
Pros: Feels good in hand and nice build quality!
Cons: Could be a little smaller to fit in the cubby under the radio kit.
Must have with alpine unit
Remote does a fine job and keeps me from bending over to reach the stereo. Very happy with it.
Pros: Small size, raised dimples on volume buttons, easy to use in the dark just by feel
Love it. Works great
Hey! It's a remote. It works. It's a little bulky and it doesn't do everything I would like but, it works.
Pros: It works.
Cons: It's a little bulky and it should have been included with the head unit.
Bought another one of these to replace the original one which flew out of my boat when my friend left it in the pocket of his shorts, and left the shorts on the back seat. Does just what it claims. No frills, but all I need is volume control and track advance.
Cons: Very basic control.
The Best Accessory for any Alpine Car Stereo.
Pros: Easy to use
Works great with both alpine stereos that i have in my 1973 Mustang and my 2001 Chevy truck.
Pros: easy to use
No flaws with this remote. Works like its suppose to.
Pros: All pro
Cons: No cons
i never would of thought about having a remote for my van, but as my van is nearly now of 'classic' vintage, it has no steering wheel stereo controls. until now. a little velcro applied and alas, stereo controls at my finger tips. it works great! and the price was right. the free shipping is a real boon as well. we can also lay in the bed in back and control all of the functions. very handy at the drive-in theater last night. very happy campers we are.
Pros: works great
Excellent Service, price and product. Will order again from you.
Pros: Great Service and shipping time.
I received this remote automatically with my Alpine CDA-9887 head unit that I purchased from Crutchfield several years ago. It has always worked for what it is. You can't control all features with a head unit, but you can do the basics. It's not "slim" but it never slides off of the seat in front of my armrest (face down) and the batteries seem to last a long time in it. I agree that a nice HU should come standard with a remote. I just bought a CDE-HD149BT HU and once again, it will do the basics since Alpine's "top of the line" single DIN does not come with any remote. In all fairness, it's not Crutchfield's fault. Alpine dropped the ball. I would recommend this remote to complete the simple tasks such as power on/off, mute, pause, skip.
Pros: Good battery life, large enough that you don't lose it, will still control some of the latest HUs.
Cons: Alpine should have a remote come standard with their HUs.
Simple to use. I like the clean outlay of buttons.
Pros: Simple, easy to use, not too many extras you don't need.
Great product. Works perfectly fine with my Alpine/Sirius radio tuner.
Pros: Everything is just great about the control.
Handy to have although I could not get the audio processor button to work with my CDE-135BT
Pros: Compact and straight forward to use.
Cons: could not get the audio processor button to work with my CDE-135BT
very good product comes in very handy when your driving so you dont have to take your eyes off of the road
Pros: ease of use and very handy
This remote did ok but seems to hold memory on the side arrow which should be next channel up or down. After the radio is off over night it seems to reset and be ok until you use it a few times and it starts going random.
Pros: it's better than not having one.
Cons: not much better than using the radio controls.
Works as expected. Convenient for back seat listeners.
Should be standard equipment on all decks - nuff said.
Works just like it was soppose to with my radio.
Pros: Long range
Cons: No illumination
Remote is very nice, all the buttons work reall good, only thing I didn't like is you get a case to put your remote in and it can stick to anywhere and mine fell off and now won't stick. But this remote can do everything your hu can do.
I love my RUE, I had the older model rue and had gotten used to that, but functionality of that one is iffy, This remote does exactly what it is supposed to.
Pros: smaller than it looks, confortable to use
Cons: light up buttons and glow in the darkworing would have been nice, but not essential.
Since I don't have any controls on my F150 steering wheel, this is the next best thing. It is easy to use and does all I need it to do. My one complaint is that there is no illumination on the remote and at night it is hard to use.
Pros: Simple and easy to use
Cons: No illumination of the controls
Remote is great, the only bad thing is that you have to have it pointed at the head unit. This remote works great switching the tracks and pausing the music. It works with my ida-x200 head unit. it does basic functions. So overall does a good job.
Remote works great. Helps you keep your eyes on the road.
I wish Alpine wouldn't have discontinued the credit card (slim) remote, it was the BEST remote for Alpine Receivers. But this remote does the job, just a little bulky
This is a must have remote control unit for any of the 2005 and up Alpine stereo head units. It sure comes in handy to adjust the volume and do the other adjustments while your car is parked with the doors open & windows rolled down at parties at the park and such with all of your friends!....great thing to have!
I need a simple remote for volume control, switching sources and bands. This does exactly what I need it to do. I haven't found a place to stick the cradle in the cab of my pickup truck so it just sits on the seat beside me. I figure if I have to reach all the way to the radio (or further) to reach the remote I may as well just twist the knobs on the radio. You may have a better surface to stick the remote - all my surfaces are curved.
DO NOT order this remote if you are using the iDA-x200 (I assume that this applies to all similar decks, such as the iDA-x300, 001, and 100). I ordered this from Crutchfield, and it arrived promptly and just as they said it would. This is not Crutchfield's fault at all. I checked on Alpine's website, and this remote was listed as an accessory for the iDA-x200. When I received this product, I noticed that it would do everything but the most important thing... control the iPod browsing feature of my deck. Due to the fact that the iDA-x200 is an "iPod only" receiver, this remote is basically useless to me.
I bought this in February for my Alpine CDA 9856 i have/had in my truck and it works great.
I just updated my deck to the Alpine CDA 9883 and plan on putting the CDA 9856 in my boat and came back to Crutchfield to get a second remote.

Great cd decks and the remote works Both.

Mike
I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT MY ALPINE REMOTE, MY MOST CONVIENT CRUTCHFIELD BY TO DATE. WITH YOUR REMOTE YOU CAN ACCESS ANY CD,TUNER,AND EQ FUNCTIONS. I BOUGHT 2 REMOTES JUST IN CASE AND BELIEVE ME AFTER ENJOYING YOUR ALPINE QUALITY CD RECIEVER WITH YOUR NEW REMOTE YOU'LL NEVER WANT TO JAM WITH OUT IT!

Just got a new alpine # INE-W960 HDMI . [ Rudy May 15, 2017 ]
The remote for my alpine has stopped working, so I had to order a new one [ Mark Worth Apr 25, 2017 ]
This remote works great. It makes changing volume and tracks or files a breeze. Just make sure the unit is pointing toward your radio. I can drive and change channels without the distraction of hunting for small buttons on the radio. Also I would guess that this limits the wear on buttons and dials since they are rarely touched. [ Gary Mar 10, 2017 ]
The factory stereo location in my Wrangler YJ seems to be too far away to be able to safely change radio stations and tweak the sound. I bought this remote to keep within arms length so I don't have to lean over to reach the radio. [ CORY Mar 08, 2017 ]
I recently installed an Alpine CDE-W265BT head unit and this is the optional remote for that unit. It will make the unit easier to operate instead of reaching over and adjusting the controls. [ Robert Feb 19, 2017 ]

This the perfect match for the CDE-143BT! [ Dwayne L. Jul 23, 2016 ]
This is a replacement for an item that I may have left unused for too long. It worked great, but I let my car sit for several months and I think the batteries leaked acid into the unit causing failure. The Alpine car stereo that it came with has been a joy to own. I put it together with a modest amplifier and it blew me away. The remote is necessary as I have an older automobie with a manual transmission. The remote is very convenient. Thank you Crutchfield for making this so convenient. [ Frank Jul 14, 2016 ]

I'm Pretty sure it will, but it is a basic remote Doesn't do much [ JIM R Nov 27, 2015 ]

HI jodale. I installed the alpine cde 134hd head unit and the alpine RUE 4202 remote works great. It controls the CD.radio .and volume ,source ,power on off. Apine is great equipment . Check with your cruthfield adviisors they KNOW.!!! [ DUANE Nov 26, 2015 ]
It works on any 2005 and newer "remote ready" deck. [ ADMIR Nov 26, 2015 ]
Not that I have ever figured out. Sorry. [ RODGER Nov 21, 2015 ]
I do not know. I have an Alpine CDE-HD138BT that iuse this remote for. This remote will work for that receiver. You should be able to download the PDF manual for your head unit and determine which Alpine remote will work for you. [ Mark Jan 24, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current system. They will be able to pull up your receiver and see if this will work. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Jan 21, 2014 ] Staff
