Our take on the Alpine SPS-100A

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Alpine's S-Series speakers feature rugged looks and tough, ultra-rigid cones. The SPS-100A 4" speakers will punch up your system's sound with crisp highs and mids. Its aluminum-coated polypropylene cone works with a durable rubber surround to give you the full mid-bass output you crave. A titanium-coated PEI dome tweeter produces sharp details across a wide dispersion pattern, for excellent "sweet spot" imaging. Grilles included.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are soo loud, i put four of these and three infinity reference 1040W's and holly moly these speakers hit those high notes and those infinities hit their tail off (well maybe because i have a 2000-watt amp running them). Well i hope this review helps you and youll see my jeep vibrating its parts off!!

Screamin' Highs

partsguy83 from Winchendon,Ma on 2/24/2006

I got these for the rear pillar in my 1998 Chevy K1500. I put bass blockers on them ast 600hz, and with the brackets Crutchfield gave me, they fit great! These things really scream! If you are looking for a great sounding speaker for highs, this pair is a great buy. Also, if you want them to be extra clear, go for the bass blockers for the extra few bucks. Thanks again Crutchfield!

1993 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these with a Pioneer 3700MP to replace the factory stereo and in-dash speakers in a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. The speakers sound excellent! Installation was easy - one minor modification was done on the factory speaker boxes (carved a 1 inch slot to accomodate a corner of the drivers side speaker - used a utility knife). I did not replace the rear factory speakers which have amplifiers built onto the back of them (factory). The stereo has an FIE mode which allows you to send the mid- and high ranges only to the front and the low range to the rear....which sounds excellent when turned on (to take advantage of the larger amplified rear speakers). Very satisfied with the product and service!

these little guys really hit the highs well. powering them with a sony m8800 52x4 and they sound great. do distort at max power but that is to be expected. definately a great buy if you are looking for something to hit the mids-highs well.

Great sound, good value.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are THE speakers if you need a 4". In my car, they are part of a factory-style, 4-speaker system in the rear package tray and these little guys accompany the 6x9 bass speakers. After installation, I unhooked the 6x9s just to listen to these Alpines and I was honestly surprised at how great they sounded. The mid-range and highs are crystal clear and they go very well with my XMRadio. I bought these from the scratch-n-dent store and never found a scratch or a dent.

Crutchfield also sent me a little wiring harness adapter for my car, which was a nice surprise because I had to solder the leads on the 6x9s when I replaced them. All I had to do with these 4" Alpines was slide the connectors over the speaker lugs, attach the other end to my factory wires, and I was all set. Another pleasant Crutchfield experience.

Product Research

Aluminum-coated Polypropylene Woofer Cones: Each speaker features an aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer. Aluminum adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds.

Titanium-coated PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: Each speaker has a 7/16" titanium-coated PEI balanced-dome tweeter. PEI (Polyetherimide) is a polymer that offers high resistance against harsh environmental extremes, superior rigidity, and sonic purity. When combined with titanium, the result is a tweeter that delivers crisp, clear highs.
