Alpine combines outstanding materials with superior construction to create their Type-S Series speakers. Upgrade your factory speakers with these Alpines, and they'll fill your vehicle with high-fidelity sound at a reasonable cost.

The SPS-507 5"x7" speakers use strong, lightweight polypropylene-mica woofers to handle the lower frequencies. Air-injected rubber surrounds keep cone movement under tight control, eliminating distortion and enhancing bass. Stamped steel frames provide rugged support for these speakers, and their low profile allows them to fit in more factory locations.

The 1" silk dome tweeters play your high notes smoothly and comfortably with no hint of harshness. You can also swivel the tweeters up to 10 degrees to improve the stereo image at your listening position. These efficient Type-S speakers will sound great with a low-powered factory radio, but they're also made to handle the high power output of an external amplifier. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Sound better then stock that is for sure. I will be adding a aftermarket deck and amp to make it sound great. Good price for what you get. As I said in the title these speakers will fit front and back on 1997-2003 f150.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are perfect for an OEM upgrade on the Ford Sport Trac. It took me less than an hour to get all four of them in and they fit perfectly, even though Crutchfield's fit guide says they do not. At first I only had the factory head unit and they sounded pretty good but once I installed my after market radio and adjusted the EQ settings these speakers sound amazing. They have more bass then many reviews say they do. It might have to do a lot with their EQ settings rather than the speakers.

Speakers not for rear deck

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers not only do not fit in the rear deck, they do not have the power for the rear of the car either. These speakers are only for the doors and cannot believe they would even suggest these as a replacement. These are great speakers for what they are intended for, it just is not for a 6 X 9 rear speaker.

Great speakers, Just Don't Abuse them

colorblind83 from Houston Texas on 5/12/2011

I have these in the front doors to my 02 F350. Cruthcfield says they don't fit, but they do, and without any modification. :/ They get loud, kinda harsh, but I am overpowering them with a stetsom amp, so I'm gonna upgrade. I do recommend them, would especially rec. them with a small amp as they do need a little ....umph... but then again, what speakers don't play better without an external amp? Again, I have them in the front doors to my F350 and they fit great. all the holes lined up, tweeters don't hit the door panels, everything fits fine. The only thing I can think of is that my truck originally came with manual window and later, power ones were added. So i'm guessing that the factory? Not sure... So measure carefully!!!!

Great buy

MikeE from Pearisburg, Va on 2/25/2011

These speakers sound great. I've got a set in front and rear of my 05 Ford Taurus and running an Alpine CDE-100 HU w/ Alpine V power MRP-F300 4 channel amp @ 75 RMS per channel. They run the highs and mids perfectly to match the 2 MTX Terminator 12s that pump my lows. I've got a MTX Terminator TNA251 600 watt amp pushing the 12s and these alpines keep up quite nice. Great buy for the money, I would reccomend these to anyone who wants to add great sound at a great price.

Cons:

Great match for OEM head units

Johnny from Anchorage, AK on 2/1/2011

These are a great match for any vehicle if you are just upgrading your speakers but keeping the stock head unit. They Have thicker magnets and operate at a higher efficiency with a wider range so you'll notice a huge improvement over the thin paper cone stock speakers. That said, if you plan on adding an amp, you're better off upgrading to the Type R's, or even a set of components if it's in your price range. You will blow a speaker if you power them with an amp and aren't careful about what kind of music you play, and how loud you turn it up, like the other reviewer learned. (Really, one star because you matched the wrong kind of speaker to an amp? That's on you, not Alpine)

Alpine SPS-507

corcutt85 from Webster Ma on 7/15/2010

Well,I'm into sound systems alot,,I had 2 pioneer in the front and 2 jlaudio in the rear.I bought the alpine thinking they are a good brand so they'll probably be an excellant speaker.Bought 4 of them not even a year ago.I have an alpine deck and and alpine 4 channel powering them. Not only did they not sound as clear as the jl audio that were only 50 bucks more,,But within 3 months i blew one speaker not even cranking it that loudly.I set the high pass filter on the amp thinking it would help and last night I gave my system a little crank and blew the other one.You put any power behind them and they blow right up.my amp is 50x4 these speakers are rated to handle over 100 watts,,so overpowering them shouldn't have been the case.My jl audio are still in good shape and I had them 3 years and cranked them every chance I got..

these are just basic 2way speakers i am using them as the rear fill with alpine type r components in front . these speakers are great if you are shoping in the price range can you get better yes, but at a price, in my case these are not the main speakers so they will do just fine sitting in the back seat they sound very good for 100 dollars especially just being powered off the head unit not everybody will agree on one speaker as the best EVER it is personal preferance ive had alpine befor even the 5x7 that was 3 years ago and this new model is 100% improved highs are not scratchy or overpowering great drop in install

They speak

Art from Canton, Ohio on 3/30/2008

I am using these in a 1995 ford excort hatchback with the kenwood KDC- MP438U and they are acceptable. I am not going to say they impressed me in the least. I am not sure if it is the size fo the speakers that make them so weak or what, but my unknown front speakers really just blow them away. Overall, they were an improvement over my factory's but if i hadn't got them on clearance I would expect more out of them.

Features

Poly-Mica Cone: Each speaker features a Poly-Mica cone. Mica adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene, resulting in reduced distortion and improved reliability.

Air-injected Rubber Surrounds: For a smoother response and improved durability, the woofers use air-injected rubber surrounds.

Silk Dome Swivel Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1.0" Wide-Range Silk Dome Tweeter for excellent high frequency sound reproduction. The tweeters can swivel up to 10 degrees so you can adjust for the optimum listening position. When the tweeter is fully angled at 10-degrees, the speaker's tweeter protrusion and mounting height is increased by 0.125".

Highly Efficient Design: The SPS-507's high-efficiency design allows the speaker to be run off of your factory or aftermarket head unit, resulting in an easy system improvement for many vehicles requiring a 5x7" or 6x8" speaker.

Shallow-Design: The Alpine SPS-507 features a stamped steel shallow frame. This shallow mounting design allows for easier installation in a wide range of door panels giving you a perfect fit.

Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a 5x7" opening, or, using the supplied adapter rings, the speakers can be top-mounted in a 6x8" opening. The speakers also come with bottom mount spacer rings.

No Grilles: No grilles are included with this speaker.
