Alpine BassLine Series 10" subwoofer

The tough steel frame helps to keep your bass punchy and accurate.

Built Alpine tough

Alpine's BassLine SWA-10S4 10” sub comes equipped with a rigid polypropylene/mica cone that won't flex under high volumes and cause distortion, while its poly-foam surround will last for years to come. The tough steel frame offers the stability you need to keep the bottom tight during intense bass sessions. This sub handles up to 250 watts RMS and its 4-ohm impedance makes it a great match for most amplifiers.

Just built the recommend .83 sealed box yesterday and installed these but not totally impressed. Maybe there is a break in period and they will improve but I'm not so sure. At this point they don't sound too much better that the 15 year old Pioneers I had in my vehicle. The Crutchfield advisor felt I would like these better than the Kickers so I'll give these a week or so and see. If not I may be sending these back and spend a little more on the Kickers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm giving two stars only for price that's worth one extra star other than that it gets one. My tech guy put this 10"sub together with a sound ordnance box and a mrv-m500 alpine amp to add to my wife's factory system in her 2013 dodge srt8 superbee package. First off with seats not folded down no base gets to cab of car! Which means you can here the bass better from inside the house than in the car! I've poked pin holes in back dash and took rubber material off where factory sub mounts in back dash if we had beats package. After doing all this and buying run knob and still couldn't get bass to cab moving box facing up down backwards forwards didn't matter. Just to find the other day it had a rattle so I turned up the alpine amp from nominal to 3/4 and heard blown rattle clearly rated for 250 rMs @4ohm the amp can only produce 300w at 4 ohms so should never have blown since I never turned gain to full power and broke sub in at nominal never pushing it hard once thru 20hrs listening break in period. So I would spend an extra the extra money per sub and get a product that does what it says!

Pros: Great price

Cons: Great price cheap crap won't handle RMS EVEN WHEN PAIRING AMP SAME BRAND!

I bought a 10" model for my compact car. As a JL Audio user, I was skeptical that Alpine could make such a good sub for the price. Well, they made a fan out of me! Good deep bass out of a small sub !

Pros: Good quality, great price!

Cons: If i have to be picky, i didn't like the pained "baseline" logo on the sub. I would've preferred the Alpine logo but that's nothing negative

Great Speakers

Eric from Salisbury, NC on 6/11/2016

2003 Volkswagen Passat

These are great speakers. I have 2 powered by a Rockford Fosgate P300-2 which is bridged and they sound amazing. They are in a ported box also made by Rockford Fosgate and I wouldn't change a thing. They have plenty of punch and deep bass for any type of music lover. They replaced some Rockford Fosgate P1's that blew and it is night and day, these are much better.

Pros: Amazing price for an amazing product. Go Alpine!

Cons: The speaker connections on the sub itself are a little small...I am using 12 gauge speaker wire and it just barely fits.

Great sub. Great sound quality and price. Very impressed with how low sub hits for a 10 inch. Hits hard at 80 .

Pros: Solid built. Eye appealing.

Cons: Deep mounting depth. Hard to fit in shallow area's like behind truck seat. Had to sacrifice some leg room.

Alpines are beast.

shanlang from Ripley TN on 4/13/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have 2 of these in a reg cab silverado behind the seat. Yes the box goes all the way across and is ported on one side. Am pushing them with the alpine mrv-m500. Amp is at a 2 ohm load so 500x1 is what's going to them. These things are very very loud and sound amazing. I listen to old school rap mostly from the 90's. So it's hard hitting bass notes for sure. I mean you can hear me coming from blocks away. Had the local stereo shop put their db meter on it and hit a sold 124.5 dbs. Not too bad for 2 10's in a reg cab behind the seat. So in other words I am very very impresses. Dont Be Scared To Buy These!

Pros: These are awesome and sound amazing.

Cons: None.

Great sale. Great product!

R. L. Sr. from Courtland, VA on 2/16/2015

As far as subs are concerned, I have to admit that I'm far from being an expert! That is why I went to Crutchfield. I was attracted by the price special that was being offered at the time of purchase. I am glad that I decided to buy the Alpine's. They sound Great! I wanted solid but not overwhelming bass and that is what I have. I am happy! By the way, they were a suggestion from a rep at Crutchfield. Thanks fellas!

Pros: Solid sound, clean look, and confidence with the Alpine name for long lasting usage.

Cons: Honestly, just a tad bit concerned about the possible life of the speakers, but I am 44 years old, so I will not be pushing them hard at all.

Bass line 10 sub

Cody from Chuck town, SC on 7/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great 10 inch Sub especially for the price it hits hard and sounds way better than what you pay for. Granted it's no JL audio or Alpine Type R but gets the job done kind off reminds me of the old Kicker comps from the late 80s early nineties. They don't need a ton of power and hit hard. I haven't pushed them to hard but only have alpine mrp f300 bridged pushing 150 watts to each speaker but enough bass for me in my ex cab chevy s-10 pioneer cde 8600 HU kenwood p709ps components polk dxi461 4x6 in dash running off alpine mrx f35.

Pros: 2 Alpine 10 subs buy one the other half price and free shipping. Two good 10 inch subs under $100 made by a quality trusted brand. No Brainer.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not a 5 star sub woofer. However, for the price it's the best one to get! Installed on my 03 Mini Cooper. More than enough for the size of the car. Hooked up with the Kenwood Excelon X500-1Mono subwoofer amplifier, which puts out 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms. So I'm definitely pushing the limits of the sub woofer, and it's handling it really good. Sound quality is good even at higher volumes.

Pros: - Excellent buy for the price. - Great sound quality. - Easily fits in smaller cars

Cons:

Decent Sub

Rjnlv from Las Vegas on 4/15/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this for about 2 weeks now and it seems to be a decent sub. I have 2 running at 250 watts each in a sealed SO box. Good quality sound and decent thump, but if you're looking for something to make your heart skip a few beats, this isn't for you. The swa's provide nice, clean lows but I think it may be better in a vented enclosure.

Pros: Clean, classic looks Quality sound

You get what you pay for. Sounds great for an inexpensive sub. Bought some Alpine 6 1/2s and got the buy one get one half off deal. Sounds good but also I have a Kenwood 10 that is similar in price and sounds better.

Pros: Fantastic Price, booms at low frequencies.

Cons: Muddy at higher frequencies. A great sub for dance and hip hop but not so good for rock.

DJ Sonic from galena ohio on 3/23/2014

these subwoofer's are great. i just got them hooked up a couple days ago, got them tuned today and they sound amazing. i bought to alpine type R 12"s when i has my suburban and fell in love with them. now i have s chevy sonic and couldnt have that much bass, so i built a new system and decided to try Alpine again. GREAT CHOICE! i would recommend these to anyone who likes a good amount of bass in a small space and sound good while doing so.

Pros: sound quality, performance (I'm running 500 watts RMS a piece, and they handle it like a champ)!, they look perfect in my car, and fit perfect in my car.

Cons: i don't have any cons. you get a great subwoofer for a great price.

Alpine SWA-10S4 Subwoofer review

Roy Jr. from Houston, Texas on 2/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good for a 10" subwoofer, but the design should have been more durable. Sturdy cone covers should have been included with longer, double coated screws. Having to buy a separate Alpine subwoofer control for the dash area and the cone cover makes this not the greatest deal. I would suggest offering quality made universal subwoofer control knobs at discounted prices or include them as a package deal when buying a subwoofer.

Pros: Good Alpine quality sound !! Competitive price, albeit no cone cover or control knob

Cons: No cone cover included, non double coated shorter screws, no subwoofer control included, like my Infinity Bass Link.

Pros: Deep bass in a small package that's easy to hook up

Cons:

Amazing!

Dan from Maine on 11/9/2013

I was pretty skeptical of these subs at first. I didn't find anything on YouTube or anywhere else about these and they were also cheap and fairly low powered at 250 rms. I slapped two of these in a sealed enclosure in the back of my Jeep and was I surprised when they first hit. I've had them for about three months and I haven't been gentle with them. These things shake the entire Jeep. The roof flexes, the rear windows flex, and mirrors are completely useless when these things are thumping. All in all, these are an amazing deal.

Pros: Hit hard Cheap Don't require a massive and expensive amp Look cool Work with relatively small enclosures

Cons: Nothing

GREAT entry level sub... hits hard without distorsion using inside a Bassworx ported box- that is about .1 foot shy of minimum factory recommendations but still sounded great during first song tuning of The Eagles- "Hotel California". Great Buy!

Pros: Great Entry Level Sub.

Cons: 1) A mounting template from Alpine would have been nice to ease the installation. 2) WHY does an Alpine grill cost almost as much as the Sub?!?!

Just installed 2 of these 10" Bassline subs in my 2001 Ford Escape along with pioneer speakers, 1100W Sony Amp and a Pioneer head unit. This setup sounds amazing. These subs have the power I needed for my car, they shake my whole car when I play electro and the bass is very clear, not distorted at all. I definitely think these are a good buy for anyone looking to add a ton of bass to their car without breaking the bank.

Cons:

let the alpines play

Excellent sub ...got it in a 1.cf sealed box in my 02' Silverado ext cab ...on a jl/250/1 mono sounds excellent still pushing air at 10hz ..suggest you look at the cone its laddered down..wasn't crazy bout the ripples i like the idea of a a nice round symetrical cone but i stuck some hard base too it.Then tortured it with base tests .I don't care what shape it is anymore its bad a** ...buy this sub better get some extra dynamat this sub will take the door panels off and spit on your 6-and-halves

Pros: Good price ...hit hard and and low .but not on your wallet ..this is not a value speaker..its purely engineering genius /good material

Cons: I only have room for one ...

Features

PWR Cone Design: This BassLine subwoofer's patent-pending Progressive Wavelet Ribs (PWR) cone design helps break up standing waves and cone resonances to keep distortion low. The sub uses a polypropylene and mica damped cone assembly and a high-excursion poly-foam surround.

Progressive Polyester Spider: The progressive polyester spider provides accurate control of the subwoofer cone motion.

Two-Piece Yoke: The two-piece yoke uses a vented pole to provide improved air flow and help cool the voice coil.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume range is from 0.65 cubic feet to 1.0 cubic feet, with 0.83 cubic feet being the ideal size.

Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs

Alpine's BassLine subwoofers will add some serious rumble to your vehicle's sound system, but they won't break your budget.

A lot of loud, not a lot of green.

Written by Chris, Advisor, on 11/7/2013 2:26:00 PM

I walked by this subwoofer the other day in our lab and decided I'd try it out in my Jeep. It's enclosed in the Sound Ordnance BB10-1V vented box. Currently, the sub I own and listen to in my Jeep is another Alpine. For space concerns, I bought the SBR-S83V which is also a vented enclosure, but has a Type-R 8" woofer.

This Bass Line woofer is considerably louder even though being a single four ohm voice coil woofer, it draws only roughly half the power from my JL Audio amp.

The bottom line, after a week of listening, is this woofer costs very little, requires little power to get it moving, and in a medium sized vented enclosure is very loud!

I like that my smaller 8" sub and box takes up a lot less space so I'll be putting it back in. If your space isn't so limited, like the Jeep, then you'll love this woofer.

Good name, RMS was in the right area for my application. I listen to a lot of blackened death metal, where 12s would be too much, I needed 2 matching subs in the ballpark of 200-300 RMS. Bought these to replace a mismatched pair of Clarion 200 RMS and MTX 300 RMS 4 ohm subs. [ Lucinda  Mar 21, 2017 ]

I'd choose the Alpine. It is really well-built. Amazing for the price. [ Jeffrey  Oct 24, 2016 ]
It most certainly will. I have 2 alpine bass line subs in my 06 GMC Sierra with an alpine 500 watt sub amp. The feel & the clear bass from those subs are well worth the money. I highly recommend them if you're looking for some good clean solid bass. I wish I had got the 12's now but those 10's pack one heck of a punch!!???????? [ DON  Aug 21, 2015 ]
Yes, they are very durable and very accurate. [ RICKY  Aug 18, 2015 ]

AFTER A FEW MONTHS MY ALPINE BLEW WITH A ALPINE MRV 500 AMP SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION NO [ keith  Aug 17, 2015 ]
Yes it should handle it with ease. I have approx. 700 watts going to one of mine with no problem at all [ JUSTIN  Aug 17, 2015 ]
And I have a 96 3 door s10 with 2 alpine 10s . With Orion mono ported box . Tight sound. Good buy.Robert t [ Robert Turner  Oct 24, 2016 ]
I am using a sealed box. I only have one 10" and I'm using a 200 watt MTX amp. I have it installed in my GMC Denali. Nice clean sounds and not over bearing. [ PERRY  Jan 17, 2015 ]
250 watt rms per sub. Go by that. I put a 250 watt amp to 2 of these n it works pretty good be better with a 500 watt n I have a sealed box. [ JOSHUA S  Jan 15, 2015 ]
Sealed is definitely the appropriate enclosure for this sub. I run 2 in a custom built box in an F150 Supercrew using an Alpine MRV 500 bridged to 2 ohm and it produces plenty of bass for the cabin of my truck. [ RYAN M  Jan 15, 2015 ]
My daughter has them in a sealed medium size generic box in the trunk of a newer Ford Focus. Powered by alpine mrp 500 mono amp. They beat pretty good [ LANE  Jan 15, 2015 ]
You can go either sealed or ported, but make sure you follow the specs for both. I'm personally running 2 of these 10 inch in a sealed box under the back seat of my 07 Silverado LT and they sound great. I was quite impressed with them. I'm powering them with an Alpine MRP-M500 and it seems to do just fine. [ JOE  Jan 15, 2015 ]

Ron they will fit you 06 if you get the correct custom box for your truck. I have an 06 Sierra with a down firing sub box with two 10"alpine Bass Line subs that really thump (non ported). But yeah the correct box for your model truck & you're in there my friend... [ DON  Aug 21, 2015 ]
