Alpine's BassLine subwoofers will add some serious rumble to your vehicle's sound system. You'll really feel the impact of bass lines and drum beats, so you can get into your music like you never have before. These subs also live up to Alpine's reputation for making subs that bass lovers want, but they don't cost so much that you end up actually living in your car.
The tough steel frame helps to keep your bass punchy and accurate.
Alpine's BassLine SWA-12S4 12” sub comes equipped with a rigid polypropylene/mica cone that won't flex under high volumes and cause distortion, while its poly-foam surround will last for years to come. The tough steel frame offers the stability you need to keep the bottom tight during intense bass sessions. This sub handles up to 250 watts RMS and its 4-ohm impedance makes it a great match for most amplifiers.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Average Customer Review(s):
Replaced 2, 20 year old Kenwood 12" subs, they were just staring to wear out...these Alpine 12"s were the perfect fix for a great price, and Kicker Amp had to turn down the gain some for these Alpines, as they didn't need as much as my old speakers. Very pleased with this purchase and the sound I now have in my Saturn Outlook!!!
Pros: Great sound for a Great price!!! Oh and very easy to install!!
Cons: None yet.
Great sub for the price. Powered by a JL amp and this sub can handle it.
Pros: Good bass for the price
Cons: None so far
Sound average at best
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Sound not greatCrutchfield response on 4/25/2017 Bob, we're sorry you're disappointed with your sub. i listen to metal, the wife listens to r&b. Sounds and reacts great to both.
Pros: Affordable quality sound.
I put 2 of these 12s in my 1983 dodge standard cab with 500 watts to each one. In the sealed box people still hear be coming from a long ways off. Can't wait to see how the ported box sounds.
Pros: Price, durability
I have had this speaker installed for a couple days now and it doesn't matter if I am listening to DMX or Metallica this speaker drops the note your gonna expect. I have one 12" in my trunk with 4 6-3/4" infinity kappa speakers in my doors and couldn't be more pleased with the sound of my factory radio. Crutch field has been my source for after market goodies for a long time now and love the resources they provide
Pros: Great price and sound
Cons: Nothing at the moment
Great sound for the price. I replaced a 10 year old cerwin Vega 12 in sub and was very pleased with the results.
Pros: Great sound, great price
Bought this sub to upgrade my wife's sound system. It is the perfect addition to add bass to the factory system.
For the price, each sub sounds so good and they hit hard im glad alpine went back 2 useing paper cone cuz alpines new type r 1000 rms sub and type s subs are junk but thay did a good job on the bassline now if that can make better speakers/ type r subs like thay use 2 or bring back type x
I Bought this thankin it was gonna hit like a kick drum at a live concert but I had it all wrong. I've got it on the back seat of my 1994 F-150 with a 650 watt amp and it hits just hard enough to let people know I have a sub. It's not what I thought it'd be. I knew that bein a 12 inch it may not hit too hard anyways but I was kinda dissapointed! Don't get me wrong it's a good sub and I love alpine but they really messed up with this one. It's easy to hook up, it's ok for the money and sounds ok but just doesn't hit real hard! If you asked me if say to look around and see what else you could find for the money! I'd go with a JL audio an MTX a kenwod or a pioneer if I were to start all over again. It's alright but wouldn't be my first choice simply because of how soft it hits. That's my only complaint with it
Pros: Easy to install, audible bass levels, inexpensive and bears the alpine name
Cons: Doesn't hit very hard
I thought this was a very good middle of the road subwoofer. My most recent subwoofers were for my Jeep Wrangler and they were Helix made subwoofers. I feel these don't have quite as good of a build but these are meant for the middle of the road. For the price this Alpine is a very well made subwoofer. Appears that all the solder points are done well. I liked that they included a piece of foam surround so I did not have to get my own to seal the subwoofer to the box. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and at this price point I don't think you can go wrong.
Pros: Great Value. Great workmanship. Great sound.
Cons: There are not any real cons...but there are better made subwoofers on the market but they cost significantly more.
These are some great subs. i have them hooked up to a kenwood 9105D 500w rms mono block amp. they hit hard and give great deep bass. A+
Pros: good sounding cheap good quality good looking
Cons: none that i can think of
This sub is absolutely by far the best sub I've ever put into a box and installed in my car. Extremely well packaged and protected when shipped with no damage whatsoever to the box or product. It was so good I ordered a second and will be ordering a third very soon for my dad.
Pros: Hits very hard when playing loud and produces amazing bass quality. Cheap price for a professional subwoofer
Cons: None whatsoever
Great sounding subs, was looking for a Lil punch an not spend a lot of money an luckily found these during SALE but was a Lil skeptical cause they proclaimed "THE BUDGET SPEAKER" but I read some reviews and decided to give it a try an glad I did!!!..definitely enough BANG for the..$$$$
Pros: Easy installation,an PRICES
Purchased 4 of these and crafted a slot loaded box for the group. Powered by a GM-X922 bridged down below/above specs for any of it but let me tell you with this system dialed in and with all nec equipment to run it (voltage wise) It will be a fun summer for sure cruisin around. Portable db meter puts it in the low 70's, for what I have invested I couldn't be more pleased and Alpine should be proud. Can't wait till I can upgrade one day to try what Alpine has to offer in the next class of subs!!!
Pros: Can't beat the price, took full advantage of buy one get one half off sale. Sounds amazing no matter what I push their way, granted its tuned right
Cons: Couldn't find any, it by far surpasses any other sub on market for the price.
This subwoofer had started off great, I had a Alpine MRV-M250 Mono Digital Amplifier to go with it, and had it professionally installed and hooked up. For the first 2 weeks they were great speakers, good entry level bass. I had a warranty on them so i wasn't really concerned with buying them, but after 2 weeks it blew out. I listen dubstep/ hip-hop, so heavy bass stuff, and if thats what you plan on getting this sub for its not the way to go. I had gotten 3 new ones (I had blown out 2) before i decided to upgrade to twin 12" subs from kenwood. If you're looking for a subwoofer just to enhance your listening experience then this is great, but if you're a basshead like me, then you will probably have some issues.
Pros: Pretty decent sound, good mids and highs, great entry level sub.
Cons: poor power handling, problems with the cone separating from the voice coil.
Amazing crutchfeild knows what they are talking about with subwoofer and amp install I have 2 of these on the mrv500.1 @ 2 omhs and let me tell u I can't stand to sit in my car with then on about 25vol
Cons: There are non
Bought these on a buy one get one half price. Glad i went with these. Got two in trunk. All you need unless you want everybody to hear you. Got these running at 300 watts a piece . Take every bit of it. When i think they have had enough just keep turning up. Alpine is a brand i will always trust.
I JUST REPLACE TWO 10 " WITH THESE 12 " I WAS SURPRISED BYT THE SOUND MY WHOLE CAR SOUNDS EXCELLENT THE MIRROR VIBRATES AS I DRIVE FROM THE SOUND. THEY WERE EASY TO INSTALL AND THE VALUE IS GREAT FOR THE PRICE . I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AND REOMEND THEM. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD BASE AND POWER THEN THESE SUBS WILL FIT YOUR NEEDS
Worked for about 3 and a half months then they both quit working
Cons: You Get what you pay for
VERY NICE QUALITY, GOOD PRICE, GOOD SOUND AND RANGE.
Pros: PRETTY CHEAP FOR AN ALPINE GOOD SOUND GOOD POWER LOOKS NICE GREAT BASS
Cons: DONT HAVE ANY CONS THAT I CAN FIND
Awsome entry level bought for 90 a piece I have 2 in a truck box in my single cab 997 dodge 1500. sounds awsome shakes the cab and sounds best with windows down more air movement. AMAZING BUDGET subs. I have them running off a jl slash 500. So they are getting 250rms a piece.
Pros: cheap well made good bass
Cons: does not hit the lows. I believe it's the box I am getting a custom made one with to shallow type R's or sundown sd series. maybe the type S
I used the online chat option (very convenient) and it was well worth it. I received Top notch customer service and professional advice from Crutchfield representatives who helped me choose the right equipment that I needed for my setup. These Alpine subs sound great. They hit hard and clean. I would recommend this sub if your on a budget and still want hard clean hitting subs. They exceeded my expectations. Definitely will go with Crutchfield for all my car audio needs. Wish there was a 10 star option. Very satisfied customer.
Pros: Exceptional customer service and advice from Crutchfield advisors Shipping was fast Online chat option was very convenient
Incredible sound. Sounds great. Deep clean bass. Definitely a winner. I'd recommend to anyone.!!
These new speakers are a lot louder than what i had in there atleast dubble the quallity
Pros: Better bass,quallty,and loudness
I was a little leary of purchasing a budget minded product online, but after hearing these subs perform I was very pleased with my purchase.. Don't waste money on no name subs, these boys perform at a budget price.
Pros: Easy hookup, hit really hard, great price
Great I put them into my 2008 Mazda 3 and man they hit hard . I put the bass at 0 or even negative, still makes my car shake. They hit right on point and voice is very clear.
Pros: Clear sound, great bass
Cons: Haven't found any yet
I was searching for subs on crutchfield, and decided to give them a phone call for an extra opinion. I told them the limited space I have behind a bench seat in my old ranger. And this is what they recommended. When it comes to alpines, I love the r serious they were fantastic, but was really disappointed with the s series. Now, since there were no reviews or videos on YouTube, I was slightly sceptical of these. I got them within a week of my order, and installed them the day of. I was so surprised to hear those little shallow mount subs slam, and watch them bounce. It blew my expectations away. I am highly impressed, and greatly recomend these subs, as well as crutchfield for their 5 star customer service.
I was limited to 5.5" mounting depth with a stealth under seat install. I was concerned at 1st, because most pancake woofers don't deliver deep, rich bass. Alpine's Bassline subs are well built, sound amazing and are priced low enough to where my wife want batt an eye when she gets the cc bill.
Pros: Great price point, deep bass, shallow mounting depth
Cons: none yet....

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy Aug 23, 2015 ] Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: While you would not want to power the Alpine sub with this amp in bridged mode because it cannot be wired to a 4-ohm load, it will work fine if you run one voice coil per channel. This will give you 150 watts per voice coil and that would work fine for this sub. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. I have two 12iinch Alpine subs on a 800watt Pioneer mono amp and it will tear your car apart. They are awesome subs. [ RICHARD A Dec 24, 2013 ]
I put a set of the lower end Alpine subs in my dad's boat. They sound great aas long as you build the right size box and have a good amp, as with all speakers distortion is the big killer. [ BRANDON Dec 20, 2013 ]
I have two Alpine 12 inch subs and the are awesome for the price.I have them in Dodge Charger in a ported box.I have a 800 watt Pioneer mono amp and they will kick your head in. I would not use moor that a 1000 watt RMS amp. My Pioneer is 800watts RMS and it will nock your head in. Good luck with your system . [ RICHARD A Dec 24, 2013 ]
speakers in ported boxes require more air space and more power but are generally louder than sealed boxes. sealed boxes can usually be smaller and sound quite well with less power. I have always like sealed boxes because they have a tendency to be less noisy than ported boxes. get a good mono amp with enough power to meet the requirements of the subs of your choice. Always remember though that too much power IS ALWAYS better than not enough power. Distortion will kill a speaker WAY faster than being overpowered. [ JEFF Dec 21, 2013 ]
I recommend two 12" Kenwood excelon subs. They sound Amazing I'm powering both with a alpine amp 350 watt rms in a sealed truck box and they sound super clean and hit very hard. . .. I returned the alpine swa-12s4 [ LEE Dec 16, 2013 ]
