Alpine's Type-R subwoofers will bring big bass to just about any vehicle. The SWR-10D4 10" sub features a cone made from Kevlar® treated pulp — the same material used to make bulletproof vests — and its durable HAMR Santoprene™ surround allows for huge amounts of excursion. This sub was built for bassheads that want the best of both worlds: accurate response and otherworldly thump.
The SWR-10D4 can handle an astounding 1000 watts of RMS power, so be sure to choose a suitable amplifier as these bass monsters definitely want lots of power. Its dual oversized 4-ohm voice coils offer the wiring flexibility you'll appreciate as your system changes and grows, so you can always pull maximum power from your amp. It works well in sealed and ported enclosures so you can choose what kind of bass you want to hear and feel.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 750 and 1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Best sub ive ever had.!
Cons: Cant afford another right now.
Awesome sound. This is my second ten inch type r ive owned and it still blows me away. I have two 10s powered by an alpine amp and they are great for punchiness on rock songs and bump for rap and hip hop.
I put 2 of these under the seat of my quad cab Ram. I can't believe how loud it is. Great sound quality also. I've always had big stereo systems before but am very impressed by the SPL with these.
Pros: Easy to install, quality for the money
Sounds great perfect match to my set.
Pros: sounds great
Cons: little pricey
Upgraded from two old school fosgate HX2's 10's to these in a sealed enclosure. Sound quality is much improved and they sound great for all types of music and hit hard.
Pros: sound great price
Cons: none yet
Sweet sub. I have this powered by a kicker 1200.1. I don't understand how anyone can have a louder system without completely destroying their car. Anything more and id have to get a heavy duty alternator or something. Its in a bass bunker sealed box. This sub is wider than most subs its size because alpine puts a bit more effort into its looks. Had to jigsaw a bit of room out of the box but everything works great. Has the power to shake the car when needed but adds just the right amount of tight boom when its wanted. Will only be buying this sub ever if the one I have ever blows up. Been wanting one for about 5 years now and its everything I expected and more.
Pros: High quality construction Loud Small enough to devote space to other things besides bass Looks cool Makes even the worst songs good Makes the commute amusing
Cons: Get an amp that can power it fully its worth the extra bucks. My alternator is going to blow eventually My neighbors are raising questions
Have 1 of these mounted in my '13 Silverado ext cab under my rear seat, in a custom .65 cu ft sealed enclosure running off an Alpine PDXM6, this thing bangs. Louder than my dad's avalanche stealth box with 2 12" W3s in it. And my brothers pioneer 10" in his silverado crew cab. Also got the 10" Alpine grille for it. My whole system includes: JBL MS62c's in front doors JBL MS52c's in rear doors Alpine PDXF4 Alpine PDXM6 Audio Control LC7i Sound Off Audio Custom Sub Box 10" Alpine Type R
Pros: Loud Clean Looks nice
Cons: Costs a little more than your average sub but it's worth it
Right away unboxing I noticed the build quality. Huge magnet, strong cone, beefed up rubber surround. I have it in a ported box 36hz., 1.25cu.ft., and an alpine xpower-55 (550w rms). I can tell the sub could take a lot more power but with that amp you can't go wrong. Very clean sound. If I adjust the bass a little I can make some stuff shake in the truck but I'd rather sq. I have the sub in a 2012 f150 super crew. It definitely sounds very good even in a super crew.
Pros: Mounting depth is awesome very versatile, plays good even with half the rms power
Cons: Can't think of one
A great buy for the price and loud enough to blur out your mirrors but poor quality sound. In a sealed bassworks box with 500 watts rms together. Not enough power according to specs but no way they'd handle more. Worth the money but definitely not for anyone who wants a clear system.
Cons: Distorted even after tuning
I loved this sub because it gave such clear bass and hit hard, i had it paired with my alpine 500 watt amp and after only 4 months the subwoofer stopped working one day for no apparent reason, i took the sub out of the box to find that the spider had come apart from the voice coil, very disappointing when you spend this much on a sub and it burns out within a few months of use.
Pros: Good sound, hits hard
Cons: Broke within a few months of use
I had a type x 12 before this speaker but got rid of it cause it was too much for my car so downgraded to this for more room and a smaller ported box. Let me tell this speaker is amazing it hits just as hard as my type x 12 use to hit and the sound quality is amazing! I havent paired with a kicker 750.1 amp.
Pros: looks amazing and love the new design!

Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine Type-R subwoofer has a two-piece structural parabolic Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. There is also an oversized inverted poly-mica dust cap, which increases rigidity and virtually eliminates cone distortion at extreme volume levels.
HAMRS: The woofer features a High Amplitude Multi Roll Surround (HAMRS), made of Santoprene, that allows a large linear excursion and greater SPL. The HAMRS design allows extreme excursions without sacrificing valuable cone area.
Progressive Spider: The progressive Conex spider has reinforced layer tinsel leads to ensure reliable and consistent control of the tinsel leads and eliminate any mechanical noise or interference often seen in high excursion cone designs.
Compound Radius Curve Pole Geometry: Alpine's Patented Compound Radius Curve pole geometry ensures a symmetrical magnetic field, while optimizing flux density to reduce distortion and further improve power handling and output.
Oversized Voice Coil: The oversized (65mm), high-temperature, 4-layer dual voice coils offer increased power handling to 1000W RMS / 3000W Peak.
Dual Voice Coils: For system flexibility, the woofer has two 4-ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2-ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8-ohm load.
Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals are all located on one side of the woofer. The terminals will accept bare wire up to 8 gauge, pin connectors, or banana plugs.
Jumpers: Included with the woofer are two voice coil terminal jumpers. These jumpers allow you to easily wire the voice coils in parallel (for a 2-ohm load) or series (for an 8-ohm load).
Sealed Box Volume: The recommended sealed box volume ranges from 0.48 cubic feet to 0.93 cubic feet, with 0.58 cubic feet being the ideal size.
Ported Box Volume: The recommended ported box volume ranges from 0.83 cubic feet to 1.38 cubic feet. The ideal size is 1.1 cubic feet, using a slot port measuring 10" (W) x 1" (H) x 20" (L).
