Our take on the Soundstream HDM-i4 Cable by Crutchfield's Buck Pomerantz
Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) lets you play HDTV on the road
Want to play high-definition content from your mobile device and watch it on a larger, higher-resolution screen? Soundstream's HDM-i4 interface cable makes that dream a reality for owners of an iPhone4 and other iOS devices with the 30-pin connector. This 5-foot cable enables you to play 1080p video and 8-channel audio from an MHL-enabled device, like your iPhone, to a multimedia player with an HDMI/MHL input.
Charges your phone while you play a video
The MHL interface uses HDMI and USB plugs, along with some new technology, to send crystal-clear uncompressed digital video and audio through a single cable to deliver truly outstanding pictures and sound. The HDM-i4 cable also charges the battery of your portable device, so it's always ready to rock.

What's in the Box:
- 5' Apple 30-pin to HDMI/USB adapter cable (Apple 30-pin connector on one end and full-size HDMI/USB connectors on other end)
Apple 30-Pin to HDMI/USB Cable: The Soundstream HDM-I4 is a 30-pin to HDMI/USB cable which allows you to connect select Apple iOS devices to your home and car audio/video components equipped with an HDMI input and USB type-A port. The Soundstream HDM-I4 is compatible with the Apple iPod touch (4th gen), iPhone 4/4S, and iPad (1/2/3). Through its full-size HDMI connector, the HDM-I4 cable supports 1080p video and 2ch audio of video stored on your Apple device or from video streaming services (like Netflix) that support video output. The HDM-I4 will also charge your Apple iOS device via its USB type-A connector. Because the USB connector pig-tails from the HDMI connector, your home or car audio component's HDMI and USB input must be less than 3" apart. The total length of the cable is 5'.
Note: This cable does not mirror the Apple device device and is not compatible with all apps.

Unfortunately, I had to return the sound stream product that i originally purchased. I did not use this cable for the JVC system I upgraded too. [ Esserin Dec 18, 2015 ]
Hi, I use this to connect my iPhone 4S to my Yamaha home theater receiver. The receiver has a dedicated HDMI(MHL) jack right next to a USB jack on the front of the receiver. I guess some car receivers have this also but yours may not. But the HDMI(MHL) input is the one you need. [ JAMES Apr 24, 2014 ]
