Our take on the Soundstream VR-345 by Crutchfield's Ken Nail
Sure, Soundstream built the VR-345 to fit into a 2" tall (single-DIN) dash opening, but just one look at its display tells you that they were definitely thinking outside the box when they designed this sharp-looking DVD receiver. It'll play just about anything under the sun, and it offers a comprehensive set of audio/video capabilities. You can even detach the display to keep potential thieves at bay.
Ready for your video and audio
The receiver's 3.4" LCD screen makes a great display for system and song info, and you can also use it to view movies and video from DVDs and other sources when your car is parked. If you want to take your show on the road, connect a video screen to the receiver's A/V output and keep your passengers entertained during those long road trips. The receiver will play any MP4 and DivX video that you've loaded onto an SD card, USB device, or DVD. You can connect the outputs from a Soundstream headrest or overhead monitor to this receiver's A/V inputs, so everybody can watch the same movie when you're parked.
When you're in the mode for music, you can slide in just about any disc, even a recordable DVD loaded with music files. And the SD card slot, USB port, and auxiliary input offer plenty of other ways to check out your favorite media. Want to add some punch to your soundtracks? This Soundstream includes preamp outputs for connecting outboard amps.

It will play music from them if you plug it into the input jack and select that mode on the radio. You can't control any functions from the radio to your ipod or from your ipod to your radio so you simply use your ipod or iphone controls to choose and play your songs. [ EDWARD Dec 10, 2013 ]
