Solid performance at a SOLID price!

Wes from Saint Paul, MN on 2/10/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a name brand piece of audio-gear for an entry level price point. I have no complaints, as it is a Bluetooth receiver and there are inherent limitations. This Bluetooth interface device doesn't claim any of of the 'enhancements' that it's colleagues put forth...I appreciate that! I know that if I am streaming music from a iPad, iPhone, or Android device I am not setting myself up for high fidelity audio. Having said that, MY EARS ARE NOT THAT DISCERNING, the audio quality is perfect for the price, and even more suited to my ears. -Wes

Pros: Expected Bluetooth audio performance Reasonable price

Cons: Unit is pretty light, I ended up using zip-ties and adhesive lanyard spots to keep the receiver from moving around. A super cheap fix.

Sounds and works great. But depending on the device you are streaming with , the distance from the BTA matters. My I-pod touch works great at a considerable distace. My laptop has to be very close.

Pros: Brings new life to powerful old amps and recievers.

Cons: Distance will vary depending on the device you are steaming with.

Great item! Easy to hook up. This is so great for bringing your 10+ year old home stereo up to modern standards. Such an inexpensive but quality Bluetooth improvement! I heard no loss in sound quality over previous wired hook up. Excellent all around!

Pros: Easy hook up. Great sound quality.

Cons: Range is true to quote. About 30 feet.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This little gizmo was set up and working in less than a minute. The signal is not quite as robust as claimed - any intervening object, including a passing person, can interrupt the transmission between the sending device and the bluetooth receiver, so it's best to set your music streaming source near the receiver if you have a few people moving around in the space. Apart from that, it works very well.

Works like a charm. Simply plug it into your receiver using an unused input (CD2, etc), plug the power cord in, pair with your source device and let the magic begin. I use it with Macintosh MAC 6700 receiver, which now is Bluetooth enabled! Something Mac should have done, but did not. Highly recommend.

Pros: Easy, unobtrusive, effective,.

Cons: None

Great adaptation to my old stereo equipment!

Dan from Standish, MI on 12/2/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have the old-fashioned, high powered receivers/stereo systems in both my house and garage. I have around 1,400 songs downloaded on my phone from my CD collection which I now stream to this BTA 10 through my stereo systems - it works great, now I don't have to use the wired hookups. It is very small and compact as well - barely noticeable. I connected it to the "phono" jack the first time and it didn't sound very good, but after moving it to a different jack on the receiver, it was fine. I would recommend this for anyone that wants to stream music from their phone through their "old" stereo systems!

Pros: wireless streaming, very small unit - barely noticeable, inexpensive

Cons: none

I bought 2 of these for my parents so they could listen to music on their phones on their home theater systems. They were easy to setup and work great. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been looking for a product that could connect a bluetooth device to my home stereo through RCA jacks for some time. The folks at Crutchfield and Harmon Kardon did not let me down...as always. It took only a few minutes to set up and connect to my phone and now I can listen to my favorite music or stream music onto my favorite stereo. It literally could not have been any easier. I could even control the stereo from out on the back deck.

Pros: Small and unobtrusive, super simple to connect to analog system and to mate up to wireless devices.

Cons: Haven't found any.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Spoke with Bryce a Crutchfield advisor. He provided excellent !! suggestions and guidance on the correct Bluetooth product for my 2 Yamaha receivers. The I purchased 2 HK BTA 10 to play my new iPod which has Bluetooth capabilities. It was a simple straightforward installation but I will provide one tip to a potential buyer, make sure the volume is set on max on your iPod,MP3 or smartphone so that your music flows through the receivers. Happy with my purchase!

Pros: IPod w/Bluetooth does not require a wire connection to play music. Ability to move around the room or home with control of your music library.

Cons: Don't have any at this time. Works as expected.

Works just not great

chris from Pearland, TX on 8/11/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Work ok. I am disappointed that the range is not better. I have it mounted in plain sight. I wanted to use it with my i-phone but if I carry my phone around the house with me the signal drops in and out. If I set my phone down close to it it works fine.

Pros: When connected it works as expected

Cons: need to mount it in clear sight-mounting inside a cabinet makes it tough to connect signal drops in and out when using with my iPhone.

Analog Bluetooth adapter does the trick

Ben B from Los Angeles, CA on 7/9/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I originally ordered the Yamaha YBA-11, which, when I received it, proved to be incompatible with my analog receiver. I rang up Crutchfield support, and they recommended the HK BTA 10. And I'm happy I took their recommendation. The price was right, the set-up was simple, and the sound is excellent. It does exactly what I want it to do, and I'm listening to Leonard Bernstein conduct Beethoven's 9th right now. Ahhh.....

Pros: Analog connections, easy set-up, great sound

Cons: Unpredictable range. Sometimes the connection remains strong when I'm streaming the device from across the house, through multiple walls, and sometimes it sputters out when I'm 15 feet away.

The Harman Bluetooth I purchased works great with my Sony receiver I just turn on the receiver and pair it up with my smart phone and you have music it's that easy and was simple to hook up

Pros: Simple hook up and easy to use

Cons: None

Works perfectly

Larry from columbus, OH on 1/21/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This took about 3 minutes to connect to my 20 year old Sony receiver. Plugged it into the "video" inputs and powered it up. Rebooted my iPhone, then started streaming music from several sources--Pandora, Spotify, RadioTunes--as well as from songs stored on the phone. Also connected it to an older iPod loaded with my entire music collection and started streaming with it as well. BTA 10 only recognizes one source at a time, but no big deal since you can only listen to one source at a time. I will probably purchase a second unit to attach to my home theater system.

Pros: Great way to instantly upgrade good equipment that lacks a Bluetooth connection.

Cons: None.

What a great way to allow you to stream whatever you like to your Sonos system

Pros: Simple setup, great range, solid design

The product was easy to set up. I found that the device works best when there is a line of sight between phone and BTA 10. Even someone walking in between the two caused the signal to drop out. Very frustrating.

Cons: Spotty connectivity

Bruce J from Virginia on 12/17/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Simple to install, just works. The only drawback I see is that there isn't some way to adjust the level of the signal going into the output device. Since my stereo receiver doesn't have independent gain adjustment for each source, this means a significant variation in sound level between, say, the FM signal, the Bluetooth device, or a CD player.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a nice, unobtrusive, and inconspicuous device for getting sound to a reciever. The sound is fine considering the use of Bluetooth. Installation and setup was easy... however I still can't figure out how to link other Bluetooth enabled devices to it. The specs state up to 8 devices, the directions do not expand on this. The HK website doesn't have more detailed instructions. I will have to ask customer support.

Pros: Easy setup and great sound considering compressed wireless transmission

Cons: Difficulty setting up additional devices

I had a chat with Crutchfield Agent (Chuck) who recommended the Harman Kardon BTA 10 (Bluetooth). Chuck's Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=58 [ William  Jul 12, 2016 ]

I was considering a new receiver to replace a great 20 year old Sony, but this lets me add Bluetooth and add new streaming audio sources from my phone. [ Larry  Jan 15, 2016 ]

You should be able to stream music 'from your iPhone or iPod' 'to the Sound Sticks' with the BTA10 as long as your Sound Sticks have a audio input jack to connect to the BTA10. Hope this helps. [ Terry  Feb 12, 2017 ]
Works perfectly! Have no complaints. Price and quality are awesome! [ Blanca  Feb 11, 2017 ]
If you're sound sticks have an auxiliary input jack, then I would say yes. The HK picks up my Galaxy S5 from 20 ft away. [ BRETT  Feb 11, 2017 ]
Theresa, I have not used this B/T device with headphones. I can tell you it works well with our Ipad streaming music well over 20 feet. I am very pleased with the performance. [ JAMES  Feb 07, 2017 ]
I have had good success with the BTA 10, which I use to play music and internet streaming radio from my ipad into my bedroom receiver/speakers. The distance is probably just about 20 feet from ipad to the BTA 10, possibly a couple of feet less, and the volume level is compatible, although perhaps just a tad less than, what I get with the same receiver volume set when I play the receiver's radio or a cd player. I also have lots of "headroom" to increase the receiver's volume setting, but for my purposes, so far, haven't yet needed to do that. Only quirk I've noticed is that when I back up the ipad, I have to re-pair the BTA 10 with the ipad, and on two occasions, I've had to unplug and replug in the BTA to enable the pairing to occur. Other than that quirk, I've been well satisfied with the unit, and just ordered a second one for my downstairs receiver/speakers, so I can play music and stream radio and online video to the downstairs speakers from a dedicated mac laptop, allowing me to dispense with a wire connection from the laptop to the auxiliary input on the receiver. I hope that is helpful to your decision making. [ Joe  Feb 06, 2017 ]
It depends on the head phones, I would buy a wireless expander to help in the house. [ BLAINE  Feb 06, 2017 ]
I have not had that problem with this device. Note that it can only connect with one device at a time. And the range is not as strong as some of my other devices. But it works well within 20 feet or so. [ Scott  Jan 16, 2017 ]
Yes I believe it will, but you can always go into your phone settings and tell it to forget the BTA 10. That should keep it from trying to connect until you tell it to. [ Dan  Jan 16, 2017 ]
Hello, I guess by HQ you mean High Quality, The answer is no because of the nature of the bluetooth technology, a wifi device will give you a higher quality sound rather than bluetooth. The device work quite well though I have not complained about it. [ Jaime  Jan 11, 2017 ]
This is a good product for older devices that does not have blue tooth. I use it for streaming music from my smart phone to this device that hook directly to a receiver. [ Tony  Jan 10, 2017 ]
Well im going to presume the HQ means high quality if so yes the streaming quality is exceptional however you will get best results if the streaming device is in the same room no more than about 10 feet. I have another friend that has the same device and no complaints I would recommend you give it a try I've had mines 3 years now. [ DEVON  Jan 10, 2017 ]
i use this to connect my bluetooth phone music to my audio system which is goes through the analog source of my audio system. So i don't forsee any problems with connecting the tv source to your headphones via this bluetooth adapter. i believe the hk bta 10 also comes with the correct wires for a connection between the actually device and your tv but you may want to make sure in case you need to order a different set of cables. [ micah  Dec 19, 2015 ]
This device uses Bluetooth. You will be able to send audio from your Macbook to to the A/V receiver with this using the built in Bluetooth on the computer. If you prefer to add AirPlay, then your best bet may be to get an AppleTV. This would allow you to quickly and easily add AirPlay to your existing system. You can find out more about the AppleTV here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_472APPLTV/Apple-TV.html [ Jeff  Aug 31, 2015 ]  Staff
this works well without AirPlay. It has it's own Bluetooth address and works well with both Apple and Android devices. I play it thru my six input on Rotel equipment and sound is great! [ LAWRENCE  Aug 30, 2015 ]
I am not aware of a booster associated with this product. I have connectivity to at least 30 feet. The product requires a separate power source and will stay on when the receiver is off. [ ROBERT W.  Nov 06, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: This won't work to send out a signal to wireless speakers. This is meant to turn an older receiver (with RCA inputs) in to a bluetooth capable device so you can stream audio to it from your tablet or smart phone. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jul 07, 2014 ]  Staff
