The Harman Kardon Go + Play II doesn't look like your average portable iPod speaker system so it's only logical that it wouldn't sound like one, either. The Go + Play II sports a sleek, sophisticated design with a sturdy stainless steel handle and decorative accents. And its sound technology is just as advanced.
The rounded exterior of the Go + Play II isn't just for show it positions the speakers slightly outward to create an expansive soundfield. The system features two tweeters for highs, and two woofers for mids and lows. Each speaker has its own amplifier to ensure it works with maximum efficiency and accuracy. You'll enjoy clear, full sound with nicely rounded bass.
Advanced circuitry senses whether the system is drawing power from its AC adapter or eight "D" cell batteries, and adjusts the EQ accordingly. So whether you're in your kitchen with the Go + Play II plugged in, or out at a tailgate party with the system perched on your car, you'll enjoy optimal sound.
Multiple entertainment options
The Go + Play II lets you enjoy photos and videos from your docked iPhone or iPod touch as well, via an S-video output you can connect to your compatible TV. And if you need to sync your player, no problem. A USB port lets you connect the Go+Play II to your computer to update your device while it's still docked.
And if a friend has an MP3 player other portable device, just have them use the system's auxiliary stereo minijack input and share their music.
Full remote control
The included remote gives you access to two handy system modes. Put it in Music mode, and you can adjust volume, skip songs, and even fast-forward or reverse through tracks. In Navigation mode, you get all the functionality of your iPhone or iPod so you can browse your device's library for a particular song, artist or album. You can also select playlists, slide shows and videos, too.

incredible sound for a small unit!
Research this unit on the web and you will find a lot of customer five-star ratings. My unit just got delivered, and when I fired it up...well, I can't write what I said exactly, but it was a two-word form of 'Yikes, this is amazing!'' I recently had reason to audition the Bose Wave Radio, the Cambridge Soundworks i765, and the Sangean DDR-63 units, all of which were radio-CD-iPod capable units. To my ears, the overall sound from this unit blows them all away. Yes, it is iPod only, so there is not a direct comparison, but sound wise, this is what I was looking for. LOTs of bass punch, maybe a little too bass heavy, even using the Flat setting on the iPod. Playing with the EQ setting on my iPod Touch would allow me to find a suitable setting for most any song. You can call this a boom box if you want, but it is so much better than that, and for the price it should be. Definitely a keeper.
Pros: Lots of clean bass punch, plenty of volume, good overall sound. Feels sturdy yet easy to carry.
Cons: Remote takes some getting used to. Why they chose to restrict themselves to just six buttons for everything I do not know. Also, the existence of a power brick is less than optimal.
I don't think you could find anything to make a MP-3 sound better. The music really fills the room. I have a Bose radio that has a cd player in it. The Harmon Kardon Go and Play makes MP-3 music sound better than CD's in the Bose.
Pros: You get what you pay for with this unit. It cost alot and it's worth it.
The sound is amazing, worth every penny and worth the extra weight. I have not been disappointed with battery life. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a quality player.
Pros: Best sound, great sleek modern styling (almost like a piece of modern art)
Cons: None in my world
Dont let the size of this small unit fool you, this thing booms!! I take it with me for small overnight trips, parties etc, and ALWAYS-- I never regret taking it with me. The highs are crisp, and the bass has a resounding, pleasing quality. I even hook it up to my TV in my room, for great theater sound--without the clutter of a huge system. I had originally wanted to purchase the similar BOSE iPod dock, but one listen to this and the decision was easy. I played the harman/kardon unit against the BOSE Acoustic Wave system: the bass from the harman/kardon was unparallelled and that system is almost 600 dollars more!! To be objective, the harman/kardon doesnt have a long battery life, but honestly you shouldnt buy this unit for that function. Its a superb portable ipod sound dock for the price. Definitely recommend this product to any audiophile out there.
Pros: Sound quality, portability.
Cons: Battery life
This is a nice compact box that sounds great, the battery life sucks, it only lasts around 4 hrs or so. It takes 8 batteries.
Pros: sounds good
Cons: battery life
