The clean elegance of the Salamander Designs Transitional SDAV5 cabinet makes it an attractive addition to your room — while providing a roomy home for your large home theater system. The cabinet features a medium walnut finish with indented finger pulls on the doors, giving the piece a smooth, sleek appearance.

Room for 5-6 components

The sturdy cabinet top can support a TV up to 80” and weighing up to 150 lbs. The cabinet's open compartment is ideal for a center channel speaker, small sound bar, or component.

Both side compartments have an adjustable shelf, letting them each store two components. The bottom compartment provides room for an additional component. These compartments all have smoked glass-paneled doors. The glass panels hide your components, while allowing IR signals from your remote to pass through.

Made for A/V gear

The cabinet's back panels have openings for cables, making it easy to connect your components together while maintaining a clean, uncluttered look. Ventilation ports ensure air moves freely throughout the cabinet, keeping your components cool even with the doors closed.

What's in the Box:

  • AV stand
  • 2 Shelves
  • 3 Rear-panels
  • 2 Center legs

This is a really nice piece of furniture! All our components fit (one of them just barely for the depth). Lots of attention to detail. The box arrived very beat up but it was packed so well that there was zero damage. Middle legs came already attached which was nice since it is very heavy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am extremely happy with this purchase! I was skeptical of purchasing this online without seeing it in person first, but Crutchfield is great to work with and I knew I'd be able to return it if something was wrong. It showed up on time and was packed extremely well. You will DEFINITELY need someone to help you move it because not only is the furniture heavy, the box itself probably adds another 40-50 pounds with packing material. The piece came fully assembled with the exception of the shelves. It is incredibly solid, and a very nice looking piece of furniture, unlike a lot of other stuff that's out there. As someone else noted, there is a lot of ugly AV furniture out there and thankfully this is not one. All of my AV equipment fit perfectly. It could potentially use another inch of depth for wires coming off the back of a receiver. Also, it would be nice to be able to remove the drawer and make it another area for components. Those are really the only two minor issues I have with this piece of furniture. I am extremely happy with my purchase and the entire transaction with Crutchfield!

Pros: Quality construction / Sturdy Air vents in the bottom of the cabinet Cable management Aesthetics

Cons: An additional inch of depth Ability to take out the drawer to use area for another component

Very Nice!

I love this more than my previous salamander Hampton 319. Such a well put together product. Beautiful walnut. Slightly retro appearance. Highly functional. Love it. Delivery was smooth. I would do it again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My situation. Married and wife is sick of my old (2004), beat up, non wife friendly design geeky techno Salamander Synergy vertical rack. I also have a woodshop and my wife is always bugging me to make a TV stand. Quite honestly I had no interest in building one - design is not as easy as you think and furniture grade plywood isn't cheap either. So, we made a compromise and I was allowed to buy one, but with a budget. We looked at so many in person and online and there is really no end to the level of cheapness and/or ugliness out there in AV furniture. The Salamander AV Basics really caught my eye, but we were unsure what it really looks like in person. Of course it is medium-density fiber board with veneer, but that can go either way in terms of looks. I called Crutchfield and had a nice conversation with an advisor. Asking someone on the phone if you think you and your wife would like the look of something is not exactly fair, but he was very helpful and convinced me the AV basics were pretty nice looking and well made. So, I took the chance and ordered it. I'll get into things here, but here is one thing you have to know. This thing is fully assembled and the box weighs 216 pounds! It is a beast. That I received free shipping blows my mind, but I'm sure there is a mark up in there. UPS had to call to make sure I was home for delivery. I thought the poor UPS guy was going to have a stroke and a heart attack, but he was nice and helped me get it up on our porch and in the house. But tha

Pros: Aesthetics, size, cable management

Cons: HEAVY! could use 1" more in depth, drawer interior a little chincy (and would be nice to have the option to make that a space for another component)

It definitely will hold 90lbs. I stood on top of it and it didn't budge and I'm 190. It has 2 hidden middle support legs that screw in. Also this unit came fully assembled. [ Stephen  Apr 20, 2017 ]
